Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Well I had a nsv moment, I have not been able to wear a seatbelt for I don't know how long, years. I finally tried and it worked! Now the past two weeks I have gained weight. I want to lose weight right now for my 1 year weight loss anniversary!!! It is the 17th of August and I really really really want to lose 100 pounds by then. The problem is I can't get a fill until th 16th, and I am back to my old habits of eating sweets and things not good for me. I really started exercising again the other day and am hoping that helps. Pam, I LOVE your closet!! I want one big like that!!! Jane

So how did you like the Zumba class? Crazy, huh? Everytime someone starts to exercise an angel gets her wings.....or something like that. It just does my heart so good to see folks ramping up their exercise even just a little bit at a time. Just remember that the scale is not necessarily your friend anymore! For example, yesterday I wore some pants that I forgot I had...I bought them in early June for a trip we took. I weighed 7# more than I do today. 7 measley pounds. I put them on yesterday and they were absolutely falling off of me...at least a size and a half too big. The scale is NOT reflecting my progress accurately! MSJEN - You remember that too! Sara -- why in the world did I think it was your SON who was injured??? I'm so sorry I misunderstood -- it's your husband!! I probably would have just broke down and cried if my FIL said that to me....I'm SO sensitive about that subject!! One thing I've noticed about my aging mother is that suddenly she has become downright RUDE sometimes and that is SO unlike her...she's always been so gracious it's like I don't even know her! I know it's hurtful, but just try to remember that it's a factor of his age....he probably doesn't even remember what you looked like 6 months ago!! DUH! And you are absolutely right about being glad you didn't have restriction while in Mexico....stress most definitely affects your band and it would have been disasterous if you hadn't been able to eat and keep YOUR strength up! OMG that would have been bad. So the angels were watching out for you in that way. Thanks for posting....I've been thinking of you. Pamela -- Your bed is downright LUSCIOUS!! Ya'll did a great job. I had my closet done last summer because it is too small and I also needed a cabinet and drawers for the jewelry I make. I couldn't believe how they actually gave me a cabinet and 5 drawers, a shelf unit for my shoes AND MORE rod space than I had before. It's like a miracle and I'm so glad I had it done! Thanks for the feedback, Kat. I just have to 'pay back' for all the help people like you gave to me when I was new ....and scared! I dont have the patience like you do, but like you said, I just let them know someone is listening...and I shoot from the hip. :woot: Are you still feeling blue about your job...or did that go away along with TOM? LOL :woot: Damn hormones. I've got the day off again today. Going to the gym, bookstore (for a strength training book  ), walmart, the bead store (my favorite place), etc. Oh, NSV last night.... my 17 yr old son wanted to come for a visit (he lives with his dad) and bring his 3 friends. They're all so cute. Anyway, I asked if they were hungry, knowing how the girls eat like birds and probably hadn't had dinner. The two girls are both vegetarian () and so I just started hauling out all the snack foods I had....and I was SO PROUD of myself that it was all healthy foods!! Granola, watermelon, cherries, hummus, whole wheat pita chips, cherry tomatoes, apple chips, cheese and lite cranberry juice to drink. They were in heaven! Bad news is now I have to go back to the store today!! LOL

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Good morning, all you Shrink'n Violets!!! It's a new day, a new week and a new adventure, 1 pound at a time!! Sara.. so sorry to hear about Dave. You and he are in my thoughts and prayers. Pamela.. your closet looks awesome!! Thanks for sharing all the pics!! Kat.. I'm still in awe of the 100#!!! I hope to be able to say that someday. TracyK....isn't it great to know that the weight gain is not permanent anymore??? I just love the fact that this is not going to be yet another yo-yo attempt at dieting. This is the real thing and that little band will help US achieve our goal!! Theresa... woooo hooooo on the ring. It's all those little NSV's that keep us going!! Today I'm going to wear a pair of capri's that are a size 14/16W and I had set aside for when we go to Disney on the 21st of August. They didn't fit when I bought them a couple of weeks ago and now, here I am wearing them!!! Time to get dressed and head on down for our fill. Everyone have a great day and remember... WWJD??!!!

Hi Violets, Just wanted to check in with this chatty group! Congrats to so many of you for proposals, weight loss, exercise triumphs and whatever else needs to be celebrated! I had a NSV this weekend I was able to wear a ring, that I love, but haven't been able to wear in years! I am loving my band. I took a Zumba class yesterday and I am meeting with a personal trainer at 12 noon! Wish me luck. Theresa

Kat: YOU ARE JUST a teeny tiny itty bitty away from breaking into the 180'S!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOO! I was bad tonight.. I fried flour taco shells and made taco's for the boys.. I fried ONE flat and crispy for me.. and IT WAS SO GOOD! I guess the NSV is here that I ate ONE and not 3-4 like I would of in my pre band days............

    Steady losers ;-)

Steph--thanks on the congrats. How did you break yourself from the constant pouncing on the scale?? Even with my hidden now I still pull it out and hide to weigh myself at least 7 times a day. Claud--I am so sorry sweetie, don't let it get to you! You know you are better than that! Just don't let em see you sweat sweetie, you are better than that! VA--congrats on the NSV! Hugs to you! SHe probly noticed there was no Ho-ho's and then saw you are becoming a skinny little thing! I ate 4 raviolos today and no PB, first time ever! I have missed my pasta. I know it can be a fluke, but I will take it! :hungry:
  7. Laura – it might be better to wait and take the classes next time – just being married, recently being banded and going for follow-up’s and adjusting lifestyle, new house and yard. You might get overwhelmed – I know I have that tendency. Congrat’s on NSV – also don’t forget you have to make time to shop for new clothes!!! Judy – busy busy busy Judy – have fun! We are going to miss you daily postings – but you have taught us well –WWJD! Sara – so sorry to hear about your dh. I will say many prayers for him. Sounds like you have a very warm and loving family. Adorable – they are the first to go for me– I was adequate previously, now (I don’t want to say it – I am in denial)… Jennifur – how rude of your guy friend! Must be the reason he is available. At leaset you found out from the getgo and not 3-6 months into the relationship. Wonderful job on completing the exercise challenge. Kat – I definetly will try my bacon that way! Thanks. Michelle – calorieking.com is a new one to me – I will check them out. Sounds like you are doing wonderful! You should post a picture of your artwork here for us to see. Laura – I get very frustrated with people who don’t do what they said they will do. Sounds like the lady at the doc office just doesn’t like confrontation – she was back peddling big time. My doctor does all fills under floura (sp?) on the same day of the week –each week (thurs) so he can be more aggressive, verify the band placement and takes less time in the end. I like it that way. Kat – better yet - I think you nailed it on the head – lazy & ditzy! Storms are almost here – have a great evening everyone! Gina

    Rash under breast relief

Actually, I've been to the derm dr. for this, 'Intertrigo'. It's a fungus, I got it three years ago when I hit my heaviest...and each spring, the first sign of heat/humidity - HERE IT COMES. You can treat this with Lotrimin Spray/Powder is the best version I find. Be sure to totally dry under your breasts after a shower, and even under arms (I get the weeping, rash there sometimes too). Been doing this for years. Best part now; I work for the company who makes it!!! HEHEHEHE The NSV for me with regard to this; after my current weight loss (which is recommended to get rid of this) - I didn't have one outbreak this whole summer. Yet. Now watch, I've just cursed myself! lol :faint:

    Bandster Heaven?

I agree with Harley, People with problems are on here more trying to figure out what to do next and people who are doing great are out living they're new life. I am not a fast loser but it's been 12 months since I was banded and I've lost 80 pounds. The 80 pounds itself isn't a whole lot but the nsv's have been great. I was wearing 26's and 3x shirts. I'm 5'8". Now I go into Old Navy and buy 16's or XL pants and they're a little baggy. I wear large shirts, I can paint my own toenails, I don't worry about food or when I'm going to eat because I am very seldom hungry. I can run on the treadmill, I can get in the floor and play with my 2 year old granddaughter and I have a grandson due in 2 months. Life is great once again. I still have another 40 pounds to go but I'll get there and knock on wood, not the first problem with my band. You'll do great and the band is the best tool in the shed by far.

    January Bandsters???

Girl, BRAG! We all should Brag, No matter how much we've lost, whether ist 5 lbs, or 50 lbs, or whatever, we need to be proud of what we have accomplished. We deserve to be proud! We've waited a long time for success. I too think the NSV are the very best. One of my NSV is I weigh less than my DH. I am so proud of that. He got on the scale last night and he was up to 188 lbs (he's 6'1") so he's not fat, and I've always hated the fact I weigh more than him. Well now, I'm almost 20 lbs lighter, 16 lbs to be exact. Its just so nice to know that I weigh less than him, makes me feel more like a woman. Another thing I am happy about, I tuck my shirts in now. Thats another NSV. I would have never dreamed of tucking my shirt in at 248 lbs, my belly hung over, I had to leave them untucked to hide my fat (or so I thought I was hiding it - who was I kidding, everyone knew I was fat!). Now I proudly am a tucker! Yes, I'm a shirt tucker I admit it!
  11. sherilynn

    January Bandsters???

Not to brag...but...(ok, maybe a little bit proud!) Last night we went to see Kenny Chesney in concert. I can PROUDLY say I sat in the seat with ROOM TO SPARE! Walked the steps up and down to concession - never lost my breath once! :whoo: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I love my band! :kiss2: These NSV's are more important than what that scale says. hehehe :clap2:
  12. Kity – I know having contractor doing work on your home is very frustrating while it is being done --- hope all turns out great – making it worth the frustrations. Laura – Congrat’s on your NSV today! I don’t know how everyone else feels --- but I get real embarrassed and feel uncomfortable lately when people mention how good I look and carry on about it. I always try to change the subject – which they always try changing it back to me. Laura – you are lucky that he makes you only wait 4 weeks – mine likes to wait 6 weeks. Which I think is way to long. Jenn, NY - I am sorry you are having such a hard time finding a job you enjoy. I wish you lived somewhere close to one of my offices – it is so hard now days to find people who want to work and have a good work ethic. I will keep praying the Dream Job comes to you! Tracy – you have a real special guy there! Wants to shop and complete wish lists. WOW. Enjoy this new attitude in your man. Denise F. – I am not (to date having hair loss issues) but I did when I was on Atkins. It stopped when I got off the diet and started eating protein. I understand where you are with it and hope it stops soon for you. Terry – good info regarding the hair loss problem. Thanks! Have a great evening everyone! Gina
  13. Denise – that is a wonderful NSV! Congrat’s to you. You have worked hard for these moments and should enjoy each and everyone of them. I see many more in your future. TracyK – your daughter is beautiful. Jennifer & Jenn NY – congrat’s on being able to give up med’s. You both have to be ecstatic about that. Tracy – he realized how lucky he is to have you and doesn’t want to lose you! Mdrai & Judy– I hate that when you lose a post. I have started writing my post in Word then just copy and paste when I finish it. Terry – Yes I know you are just messin’ -- but I really want to! And I would be happy to have you (Gym Nazi) encouraging me to get off my lazy a$$ any day of the week – so thanks. Congrat’s on new BEST weight “190”. I can’t wait to get there – I have a long way though – I had my new BEST today at 261. That is mainly due to only having liquids for the past few days due to my EPISODE. Haydee – Have fun on vacation – and have your picture taken bunches and bunches! Enjoy. SchexyMomma – Thanks for sharing the picture. You all look so confident, proud and happy! Kat – You are right – I need to do the PT – the sad part is 1.) my insurance won’t cover it; 2.) I travel every other week; and 3.) it is 1 hour away each way. I will check into it again. It is amazing – we have the same herniation – I also had a tilted/twisted pelvis and wrenched tailbone. The pelvis is back in line – so that is good. Q: You BAKE bacon? Never heard of that. Hmmm. Gina

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

I found out the other day I can get an AA in Liberal Arts if I take 3 more classes. 3 specific ones I need. The college is in New Mexico, so I called and they told me I can do distance learning for those classes. Sounds good, right? So I log in today (registration day) and go to sign up.. they're all full! BAH HUM BUG!!!!!!! I've been hitting 'retry' and re-logging in every 15 minutes (that's when it boots you) waiting to see one damn person drop each of these classes. I don't need the AA, but hell if it only costs 600 bucks to get it, it'll look better on my resume, in case CD's and DVD's become obsolete (which is what it feels like we're getting to). I'm at work and I have major upset stomache.. dunno why.. it hurts, I feel like I got diarhea, but my body will not let me go in public, so it's going to be a loooong day. I did quote a big job coming in soon though, for Nokia (or Nikon) I always get those confused, cameras. Oh my poor stomache. Sounds like everyone's doing good.. love the pic of you ladies together, wish 3 of ya'll lived here so we could do that!! When I came into work this morning, my mom and an accountant were outside smoking and my mom said "Someone looks skinny today" and the accountant said "Someone sure does!". I'm wearing my Cirque du Soleil shirt-- which was an NSV I don't know if I mentioned. We saw the Beatles LOVE Cirque while in Vegas (awesome, awesome).. and I refuse to wear men's t-shirts.. I don't like the unflattering-ness of big baggy tees. But of course in most the world 'women tees' are for the anorexic. So in the junior/womens tees, I can only get them if they run 4-5x. They only had up to 2x.. so I got one I liked in 2x, which is like a damn medium in my brain.. for 'when I lose the weight'. It ends up I can wear it! It is fitted, but not bad fitted where I'm stretching it or looks bad. So, I'm wearing that and some black bell bottoms.. and it makes me look skinny. SCORE! Oh god my tummy..
  16. Good Morning Violets~ Tracy~ to say the ring is beautiful is an understatement. It is spectacular and represents all the good things you have coming to you! You will georgous wearing that ring! Congrats and God Bless! Denise~ Congrats on your NSV. It is great to feel sexy! Watch and see how many more times that happens...when it rains it pours baby! Terry, Schexy, Haydee, and Josie~ WOW WOW WOW...you all look great! I am sooo glad you got a pic. We can print that out and draw in the rest of us. How fun and exciting that you all met. You'd NEVER know you all are connected w/ a weight loss site. Judy~ Now, officially, all is right in the world. Welcome home we missed you and are looking forward to hearing about your trip! Terry~ Holy Crap...190...I'd be at goal around 190! Good for you!xoxo Kat~ Now I really want bacon! LOL, enjoy your day w/ your grand daughter. Gonna post this now, so I don't lose the personals.

Gina - You know I'm just messin' with ya, right?? :grouphug: I am so sorry about the disc!! My MIL has several and she is in so much pain alllll the time. You do exactly as your doctor tells you! You don't want to make things worse!! That's the SECOND BEST kind of NSV there is!!! Denise's is the ULTIMATE BEST!.... LOL Man, you must be floating on a cloud!!! Hot wrecker driver!! That's the stuff fantasies are made of!! Woo hoo!!!! Wow!! He must be taking happy pills or something!!? No matter.... ya'll sound like you're having a blast and that's all that matters. You deserve it all, girl. You deserve it ALL!!!! I'm down another pound today (to 190) and have no idea why....except that I've skipped my workouts....and maybe water is leaving my muscles. It will be an interesting experiment to see if I gain over the weekend as I make up these sessions. Love you guys!
  18. Good Thursday Morning, Violets!~~ Hope this post posts today... man I was peeved yesterday when that post evaporated into the ozone! Not much to report... still going down & enjoying it!... scale read 277.6 today!... AND I'm expecting TOM to arrive on Saturday, so I can't figure how I'm still going down this week & not up... hmmmmmmmmmm... well, I won't look a gift horse in the mouth! (who made up that crazy saying, anyway??) Tracy, your rings are beautiful... I'm so excited for you! Ms Jen, Congrats on the meds! My docs told me to come back at -50 & we'd check med levels then. Adorable, Fantastic NSV! You go girl! Jenn, I agree w/Tracy... be gentle w/yourself... your bod has been going through a lot, physically & emotionally/stress-wise, and it's probably just catching up, levelling out, taking a break -- whatever you want to call it... keep on doing the right things & it'll pay off! In the meantime, pamper yourself! Wonder how Judy and her "Clay-mates" are doing on their trip! Make it a great day, everyone!
  19. WOOHOOO!! That is a great NSV....feels great doesn't it? There are many many more to come!! ENJOY!! I have no clue what the scales say because I took Terri's advice and put the scales in the closet. No scales for me until Aunt Flow is gone. Hello everyone...have a great day...

NSV!!!!!! My first one really...well the biggest LOL So my daughters car broke down today and we had to have it towed. The tow truck driver was HOT...well he was lots younger than me, probably 26 or so, but my 24 yr old daughter was drooling over him. LOL Anyway, he flirted with me the ENTIRE time...I mean BAD. Then he didn't charge me for the tow...my hubby was like, "ok but if he calls you again (yes he called my cell once), you let me know!" LOL My daughter said "mom I'm so glad that you still 'have it'...maybe when I'm your age I'll still have it too"....wait, was that supposed to make me feel good??? 'when i'm your age...."???? LOL Oh well, at least I feel great!

    Steady losers ;-)

Steph--awww sweetie! I am so sorry! I also DO NOT agree with him that you may need an unfill. I had my Dr argue with me once on that, and I was right. But I am glad it is what you needed. Sometimes the truth completely sucks, even though it is true! :car: You can get back on track girl, we are all here for you whenever you need us!! Claud--I am a BAD BAD girl. I have an occassional coke now and then, maybe 1 or 2 a month. I also do it when I get something stuck. I can't drink much of it though, gives me terrible tummy trouble. I miss it so. Brandi--I saw those pics miss hottie!! WOO HOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! Keep up the great work sweetie! Nat--basics will get you going. Good on you for the NSV! It feels great when others notice. I am getting irritated by people lately. A lot of people have been telling me that I need to stop loosing weight. Makes me freaking nuts. Some of them are the same people who treated me like shit fat. WTH??? One guy told me that I was going to loose my "girlish curves" and look like a boy. I hate people today... :cry:angry:angry

    NSV's

My newest NSV happened a day or so ago. My 2 1/2 year old granddaughter was here with me, and she wanted me to lay on the couch with her. I laid down with her, and her ever faithful bunny, and I could reach around her and still feel more room on the couch!!! So #1--we both fit! and #2 I can reach my arms around us and farther! I also love being able to paint my own toenails again. Shopping the misses dept. I was in the park with the granddaughters and chatting with a woman and of course weight and diets come up (doesn't it always with women???) and she told me "well if I only had as much to lose as you do, I wouldn't worry." I told her HOW I lost almost 100 pounds, she didn't want to believe me! I floated through the rest of my day!!! About 30 pounds ago, I ran into a girl we went to school with, the perfect cheerleader one, she was always snooty as hell to me---and now---well even then, 30 pounds ago----she was bigger than me! Keep the NSV's coming, they are sooooo encouraging! Kat

Just popping in to say HI. Stressed, my weight is still up. BACK TO BASICS! NSV - the cashier in the cafeteria asked if I was losing weight. I do look cute today, too. I smiled and told her yes. She encouraged me to keep it up. I had a salad today for lunch. No juice, no bread, no crackers, no croutons. I'm going biking today when I get home. DS will appreciate the effort. Glad to hear you're all doing well. Sweethot did you take down your picture? I went to see it, but couldn't find it. I suck - I still haven't posted my pics yet. I need to do that. Later gals! Nathalie

    Can you say freakin' awesome???

    May 2007 Banders

Great NSV there! It's so mortifying. Sometimes I will tuck both ends under my top and pretend it's latched! *shakes head* The last time I flew, I called the steward over and motioned him close to me and whispered, "Could you discreetly bring me a seat belt extension?" He was so sweet, he nodded and came back with it hidden under a note pad. Mortifying nonetheless though. A couple of weeks ago, we went to our favorite Mexican food restaurant. We always sit at one of the tables, but I'm always envious of those sitting in the cute booths in the window. When we walked in I paused by the only empty booth but decided it was probably a no go. I have a large stomach AND butt, so it may be a while before I fit there. I can wait though. And once I fit in it, I'll never have to think about it again.
