Tired.....frustrating!
GeauxForIt replied to Iamfinallyme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I felt like crap at 3 weeks out!! Exhausted. I was 6 weeks yesterday and I just now am feeling like I have my energy back. Be patient with yourself, and you HAVE to eat! -
Today was kind of a bummer day. Three days in a row and the scale hasn't moved. I know I shouldn't weigh everyday but I am a slave to the scale. It just seems that if I'm only drinking 700 calories or less a day that I should lose weight even if my body is in some sort of starvation mode. I am getting my protein. Usually I get right around 70grams of protein a day. I could drink more water. I guess I'll make that my goal for now. To get at least 48oz preferably 64oz of water a day. I think I strained something in my tummy yesterday. We were trying to load a couple of our steers up to go to the butcher and I yanked on this gate that was stuck in some mud a couple of times befor I realized it probably wasn't a good idea. Today I have pain on the center left side of my upper abdomen. I haven't taken any pain for it. I want to be able to feel exactly what's going on in case it gets worse and needs some kind of attention. I need to remember to take it easy. So needless to say I didn't ride my bike today. I think I'm gonna wait one more week or so. I had started riding really slow and only for 10 minutes at a time. Now I want to wait until this new pain goes away. Calories today: 645 but I'll probably have some broth befor bed. Take care all!

Swelling, 2 days post-op...
sally628 replied to AB2B's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hmmm three days post op but my largest incision is on my right side . Very swollen , bright red and bruised too. Feels more like a burn -
I was fine while in hospital for the overnight stay, later in the day after released at home started to have a low grade fever. This fever got to 101 and ranged from 99-101 for about 5 days post-op. The first day I had the fever I called doctor immediately and he phoned in a perscription of Augmentin which is a very good antibiotic for those hard to kill infections normally seen in a hospital. I am totally fine now with no problems what so ever. I am now 3 weeks post-op and have lost 31 pounds and back to work and working out. Hope all works out, but the main thing is to get out of bed and start walking around as soon as possible and make sure that you did the breathing execises to clear the lungs out, that can be a cause of low grade fevers as well.

banded 6 days ago and Im hungry!!
JanB23 replied to carebear99's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes! I am 10 days post op and around day 6 -7 was craving food. I think it was just that i though i was hungry. I had a couple of days where i had extra serves of soup but, then i had no weight loss. Yesterday i kept myself busy all day and stuck to my shakes and soup and it was a much better day. I also keep diet jelly (jello) in the fridge to eat when i need something. Returning to work next week will help so i wont be sitting around thinking about food. It is also hard when you have to cook for the rest of the family. -
Lap Band Surgery On Dec 9....gas And No Appetite - Any Suggestions
Lollicatt replied to GarysGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think its normal just sip sip sip all day long. Walking also helps with the gas. I didn't have an appetite for two weeks then it came back with a vengeance. Hang in there! -
My stomach feels so yucky. I'm 3 weeks out today and everything I eat turns my stomach. I have zero appetite and am only getting about 200 calories a day. Now I'm struggling to get my Vitamins as well. Every time I eat I get a cramp in my stomach, sharp pains and tons of noise in my bowels. I feel sick after I eat and it gives me zero pleasure. But if I don't eat at all, I feel sick also. Anyone have experience with this? I'm not sure what to do and I am having trouble even getting Water down.

Stomach ache and can't eat
bellabloom replied to bellabloom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Dj I think your right but it's so hard. I don't feel weak, just gross and nauseated. I'm really working on the Water, I'm only getting about 3 cups a day and it's concerning. I am going to go back to just shakes for awhile. I can tolerate any more eggs and everything else is awful too. I gave myself a Vitamin break this week for one day and I've been getting the rest of them except the Multivitamin. It tastes so awful I need to order another kind. This is harder then I thought. The idea of eating until I puke is not one I want to go with! I can deal with the lack of food, it's the nausea that's really terrible and forcing myself to eat. The taste of things seems really off as well. Nothing appeals. -

Congratulations. You are taking an important step. And, one of the first is to read all you can with the pre-op posts; there are great ideas and advice. -Do what you can to to follow your MD's pre-op diet.' -I also started to edit my refrigerator and pantry [single so it was easier for me.] -Get the fat free ice pops. It makes a great alternative to Water and it soothes the dessert cravings post-op. -You may get some saline in your band at surgery [priming]. Ask your surgeon if they did afterwards. -Your post-op diet is important because your stomach is healing and you don't want to challenge the operation with regular food. -I started 2 weeks out cutting my food into nickel or dime-sized portions and starting counting chews up to 30 with each bite. I started practicing sipping instead of big swallows with water and the shakes. -Be prepared for some shoulder pain if you have a hernia repair. I didn't so my pain was minimal. Buy the GasX strips NOW and be prepared to take after surgery. Be prepared for the "action" those GasX strips produce...especially the 2nd day!! -Take a pillow with you so that you have some cushion with your seat belt post surgery. I did but didn't have to use. -If you don't like the prescribed shakes, check the protein/sugar requirements from your pre-op requirements and then go to a store and buy something close to it. I did the Pure Protein powder. Some people cannot do whey protein. -I also started preparing the house. I made certain that the house was cleaned, closed washed, etc. -The day of surgery and at home, I stayed active...sitting when I needed but then get up to fill up my water cup; doing dishes [no dishwasher]; I even re-arranged a shelf in my pantry [no heavy lifting]; and then walked across the street to visit with my neighbor for 20 minutes. I didn't take to the bed until I was ready to go to bed. STAY MOVING. My neice had her band 2 years ago and she said that she dusted the afternoon/evening after her surgery. Last piece of advice...remember to breath!! Take deep breaths; It gets oxygen to the brain and keeps you calm. Pre-op includes a shot so that helps you relax and prepare for the surgery. Good luck. Be well and enjoy the process. It's a new life! -
Band coming out today
My3angels031703 replied to Bandy2sleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
HI! I am scheduled for same. NOT because my band has slipped, just because it doesn't work! But, I have A Lot of weight to lose. my surgeon is not sure of the condition of my stomach from be banded for 12 years so it may be two surgeries. I tooo am stressing out because we have a big family trip planned 4 weeks after anticipated sleeve date. I personally think I would put the sleeve off till after the trip. I don't know that we will feel well enough at 4 and 5 weeks out. In addition, we would still be in puree, soft stage. And I think it's too close to Fly. These doctors aren't GOD. THEY will tell you what they want. Do what you feel is right for you and your family. Can you put off the sleeve procedure till after you return? When you say you don't have a lot of weight to lose, what are we talking 20, 30, 50? Can you just remove the band and not have the sleeve, maybe see how it goes on your own first (try WW)? THEN take it from there. Someone gave me this advise when I couldn't find the answers and it makes sense for me. The Doctor's are telling me when, and how. I plan on telling them what works.best for me and my family. I'm scheduled to remove my band March 16... from there... I'm not sure.. Good luck. Keep us posted. -
That's funny I felt the same thing during my first week. I drank 64oz of water like it was nothing and wondered if the doctor forgot to sleeve me. Wait another 2 weeks until you can finally eat, you'll see

Mine was a little over a week late... I'm 11 days out. I'm thinking its pretty normal.

I feel like I'm dehydrating, my mouth is so dry and I know my breath is suffering, or should I say the people around me are suffering from my breath. My Dr. recommends no liquids an hour before you eat, of course none while you eat, and none 2-hours after. So that is a total of 3.5 hours. Three meals a-day comes to 10.5 hours with no liquid, I sleep for 8 hours, so 18.5 hours leaves me 5.5 hours in the day. I don't know about you but I have to stop an hour or so before bed time or I will be up peeing. So what I'm getting at is I'M THIRSTY, I'm grumpy, I'm not losing weight, and I'm making the people around me miserable. I'll see my nutritionist next week when I get my first fill and I will talk to her about this but I was wondering what did your doctor tell you about being dry?

I was banded July 2014. I had steady weight loss and lost 45 lbs the first year. Since last year my weight has went yp and down 20 lbs. I journal, exercise, watch my carbs, had a fill 2 months ago. No complications. I eat at least 60g of solid protein. I have changed my workouts to a little more intense. I am frustrated because this was the last resort for me. I could use any advice for those who have stalled in their weight loss journey. Sent from my VS985 4G using the BariatricPal App

Who did it in Mexico tiajuana?
ricolifts replied to ricolifts's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow @ Thanks for the detailed reply. I have a few hundred questions. What is the plan going forward With the doctor? Like I know if i got it locally there is a 2 week checkup a 1 month check up a 2 month and a 6 month. How did you research the doctor Outside of here before you went? My problem is getting comfortable with the concept of Mexico and being so far from any emergency help . But my procedure is out of pocket etc So I will be going to TJ or Cancun not sure. Other questions are, How long did you have to take off work? and How long do you have to be by the surgeon? -
I was given Cenrtrum chewy vitamins from the hospital (I'm one week after surgery). Easy to suck and I guess they're o.k if the hospital prescribed.
-
My surgeon told me to hold off except for Protonix....about 4 days after surgery I was able to take my chewable vitamin, then I was told to wait til follow up at 3 weeks to discuss the rest of the vitamins. I admit I was a bit nervous to swallow the first time after surgery but my nurse stayed with me to make sure I was ok. Sent from my VS987 using BariatricPal mobile app

I had my pre op class today. It was so informative. I was told about 2 or 3 weeks ago to lose some weight before now because I was up 6 lbs. I lost 4. I was really excited. But it was short lived when the doctor told me my liver was still big, and I needed to go on a straight liquid diet till surgery on the 16th. I kind of have a guilty conscience, because I did eat cheese and he knew it by the way my liver felt (how weird).

Stage 3 Pureed Foods...I need help!!!!
honk replied to slt1027's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Kind of depends on what the doctor has ordered. Mine had two weeks of mushies. The first was cottage cheese and ricotta, The second week I could add canned tuna and/or chicken. I would ask for clarification. As for week one I made an italian bake low/fat free cottage, ricotta, some parmesian, some smooth spagetti sause baked in the oven. In week two I could also add egg whites. I would make the eggwhites and and at the very end add fat free cottage cheese. So yummy. For canned chicken I added low fat laughing cow cheese (each wedge is 35 calories). Also because it's cheese you can heat it up in the microwave. -
I also had an adjustment in December and I didn't feel any difference until last week. Mine always take at least 2 weeks to a month before i can tell. I received .1 and as of Friday I feel like I'm back in the green zone. Good luck! If you feel like you're too tight definitely let your doctor know.
-
For some people, it can take up to a month to feel the effects of a fill. It has always taken a minimum of 2 weeks for me. Inability to tolerate food and heartburn is a definite sign that you are too tight. Your doc/surgeon will likely suggest a small unfill.

Same as above a slept in a recliner but I did it for 3 weeks as I am a side sleeper normally and would not have handled that (I tried after 1.5 weeks and went back to the recliner)

Awesome! I'm at less than a week now, I'm the 20th! I'm super excited and a smidge nervous now. Doubt I'll sleep well Sunday night, in a hotel room too. Driving clear across AR to have it done, and don't fancy being up at 4am for a drive only to have it done, then drive 3 hours back the same day so we're going over on Sunday, finding the hospital, and relaxing before the big day! I've been on the diet since the 1st and haven't weighed in about a week and a half. I refuse. LOL I hope your poison ivy gets all cleared up and good luck!
