JABBA THE MUTT replied to slimcolagirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
On pre-op diet for 2 weeks now. Tied my own shoes yesterday without cheating or losing breath. I have been sooooo fat for sooooooooooooooo long that the NSV is more satisfying than the scale itself. -
Down 60 lbs. & HELLO "Onederland!" (both on 6 mo. anniversary)!
Carly posted a blog entry in Lap-band life in the desert
Well, it finally happened! I entered into ONEDERLAND & and hit the -60 lbs. milestone today, which happens to be my 6-month anniversary! How amazingly fitting! I've been on the cusp for the past 2 weeks, hitting the scale w/great anticipation (if that's possible), thinking, "OK, today may be the day." It wasn't meant to culminate until today, and I think that's pretty cool. I can tell the weight loss is beginning to slow somewhat, and I realize that's to be expected (though it is hard to embrace the idea!). However, I'm extremely excited about just being able to wear blue jeans again (size 13-14 even!). I went for YEARS w/o going outside of the house in jeans b/c they looked so hideous. Not any more! For me, that was an incrdible NSV. And, of course, feeling my confidence grow daily is absolutely an amazing thing. Thank you God! PTL -
I love my band and it has helped me in more than just losing weight! I have learned how to eat right, when to stop when i am full and even though the hardest part was getting my head with the program i have lost all the weight i can with the band and i have finally accepted this.I have lost more than half the weight i wanted by eating right most of the time and not feeling like a pig when i eat crap because i know that if i eat poutine one time i won;t get back to where i was and i just move on... The rest of this weight will require a 100% dedication to excerise.I have a low metabolisim(sp) and NO energy.I know that exercise will help with both of these problems. I got my tongue pierced and quit something as of this morning. The piercing is a reminder of my commitment to myself and my new goals.Quit smoking and exercise 3 times a week. Yea for me!!! NSV for this week end.. I realized i fit in Wal marts regular clothes and NOT even the largest in 18 but regular 16 OH MY GOD!!!! It still hard for me to see myself like this i still feel the same but i got more than my share of looks with my new "lock and load"suit, cami and high heels.I tended to stay in my fat clothes as there is a certain comfort level there but watch out for me because with excersize and more energy i am looking forward to the rest of this weight going bye bye! For those who don;t know me, I am Chantal, from Ottawa Canada.I have had the band for 3 years(yes i am not in a hurry to lose)I am 5'2 and started at 235.I weight 175 now, soon to be 135.( i want to reach 125 but i will be having a TT and lipo before the final 10!) Thanks for reading my happy happy story.

What a nice NSV and reward! -
I took my 6 year old to a birthday party yesterday and we had to walk up 2 flights of stairs. Normally I would have had to go really slow or look for an elevator and then take a break at the top until I could talk again. But I got almost to the top and relized I did it without even losing my breath! I tried to control my excitment because not many people would understand. Then we went to the movies last night to see that new move called Wild Hogs. Awesome movie by the way. But I had not been to this theater in about 5 years because they do not have the arm rests that move up and down. Last time I went I killed myself getting into one. Well last night I had extra room. It was so great. I just wanted to share. I am in love with my band. Good thing its not a man becaue my husband would have some heavy compatition. Just kidding. But it is great. Thanks for letting me share.

Oh my Oh my Do I ever have something to Cheer About, an N.S.V. I didn't anticipate happening! Today I took a Shower, okay okay NOT THE FIRST IN MY lifetime. After YEARS and Years of experience using a Beach Towel or. a Terry Cloth Bath-sheet, I got out a Normal sized Bath Towel, not only did it wrap ALL the WAY around but I had Lap- over Room and could tuck the Edge in. Isn't THAT a Sweet NSV? Because I am So So Proud I've stuck IT through to this point in LIFE and Holy Holy Hip-hop, I AM APPROACHING TRULY AVERAGE/NORMAL SIZE FOR A HUMAN- TYPE PERSON! And I am Over Joyed! 👈😜👉

Unanticipated NSV
Boldilocks replied to ummyasmin's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
This happened to me on my 3 month and 6 month post-op blood draws and I didn't even think of it - doh! On surgery day they stuck me 4 times, couldn't do it, then the anaesthesiologist had to come and do it with a baby needle on my inside wrist. Ouch. Big difference now. Congrats to us! The NSVs just keep racking up! -
Excellent Mary! You have just started your own NSV list...keep posting Non-Scale Victories here, so you can look back and see the benefits of your weight loss, not just on the scale, but in your everday life. This is the GOOD stuff!!!

Classic case of over confidence...

Those NSVs you mentioned are more important than the number on the scale. Keep focusing on that, and you'll get past this little detour soon enough. Remember..this is not a linear journey. It's full of ups and downs...two steps forward/one step back. Just don't obsess or lose your momentum. -

I agree with what everyone is saying! You are doing good, and you are down 35 lbs. I know the feeling, about seeing pics of yourself, and saying GROSS! But, imagine if you hadn't lost any of your weight! Take your NSV's as you can, and be proud of what you have lost. Karen -

3 Weeks Post Op Nsv! - A Couple Pics
Lilee84 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My BFF and I, along with her beau, took our kids to Animal Kingdom today. The weather was absolutely gorgeous! The boys had a great time, and just for giggles I wore my pedometer. 12 freaking miles! Holy crap! And the passes we bought were 3 day passes so we get to do this two more times, without the kids though - having both the boys and them being so young was just too much to handle. So, here's a couple of pics. The self portrait is literally the night before getting sleeved. Oh, and the pants I'm wearing today are 18's, down from 24! Woohoo! -
:cheer2: Fantastic, well done :cheer2: Enjoy every one of those NSVs, they are a great aid to keeping sane in the early days!

Weird thing I noticed about sleeping
Jachut replied to KathyM's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This was a surprise NSV for me after banding. I was a "healthy" fat person meaning that I had a bmi of *only* 35 (isnt it scary how we accept fat as normal, to me that doesnt seem very big, as everyone is fat these days, but it was), I had no comorbidities, no sleep apnoea. I simply woke uncomfortable many times a night - same as when you're very pregnant and your hips ache from lying on your side, but you cant lie on your back. After about 30lb that went away and I started sleeping just so well, I felt fantastic. -
Congrats! That is a great nsv!

Congrats to you! That's a great NSV!

Last year I dieted and exercised, lost 10kgs and got down to 85kgs (187lbs). I started wearing an Australian size 16 in most clothes, so when I went to the shops one day, I found this lovely pair of jeans reduced from $90 to $20 in a size 16, and bought them without trying them on. Imagine how upset I was when I got home and they were so tight I couldn't do them up! I then proceeded to gain back all the weight I lost over the next 12 months, plus some, and my bargain jeans sat in the bottom of my drawer never having been worn. This morning, I weighed myself and I was 88.1kgs. I went to put on my regular jeans for work and they looked ridiculous, hanging off me. In a panic, I emptied by drawers and came across my bargain too-small a size 16 jeans, and said to my DH "I definitely can't fit into those! I'm 3 kilos heavier than when I bought them!". He looked at the jeans and said "sure you can - they look like they'll fit" AND THEY DID!!! I'm wearing them now! The buttons did up without any problems! I don't get it, because I'm 3 kilos heavier still, but I'm not complaining - IT MADE MY DAY! WOOOOOOHOOOOOOO!
