    Pain on my left side

I had some pain a couple months ago on my left side. Very sharp pains in the middle of the night , could not lay on my left side for about 3 weeks. They did ultrasound as well, could not find anything. But, at the same time I was struggling with a slight overfill, I had gotten a fill which brought me to 9.0 cc in a 10 cc band. I was sliming about everyday, no vomiting, at this point. It was not improving. I looked at my food diary and made a few changes, did not help. So I asked for a tad unfill, he did remove .4cc , brought me back to 8.6 cc I have been fine PAin disappeared. I think the pressure on my port or the tubing shifted around internally and caused that strange pain. I may have eaten a little too much and caused that pressure I have no idea... I have not gained anything or lost anything in the last 8 weeks. I am about 10 lbs from goal, so It may be awhile before he will give me a nother fill in the amount of .2 cc. such a small amt, we will see. Good luck in finding that pain.

Fist Time On The Scale Post-Op

Congrats! The portion of stomach they removed doesn't weight to much. The 9 lbs u lost is mostly all the IV fluids they pumped you full of. Lol. Wish you the best. ! •Highest Weight - 240 •Surgery Weight 8/3 -230 •Current Weight 8/31 -203

    Question for revisions

OMG...I feel a little bit better.I had my band removed and had the sleeve for the same reason.I was 150 pounds one month prior to my revision and gained 23 pounds in one month once the took out all my fluid. So my starting weight from the time i had the sleeve was 173.Had the surgery on Feb 3.Here is what im feeling though.I only lost 13 pounds and getting very disappointed.I just really thought i would have lost a little more weight then this.Any suggestions.Im Now at 161 and i im at a total stall for 2 weeks
  4. Because when I had revision back in 2012 my BMI was 62 now I believe is like 47 or something now, and he thinks because I've been at the same weight for 6 months my body may have lost all it could with the sleeve procedure... He told me to give it my all the next 3 months and if I still cannot break the stall then we may need to explore me revising to DS... I really dont want another procedure, but I've heard good things about the DS....but ultimately the only way I will get it is with insurance approval, I had to pay out of pocket for the revision to sleeve, I honestly cant afford another procedure... So, I am going to give it my all the next couple of months and pray I can break this stall, which is now 8 months and counting

    Gallstones

I think that they remove the gallbladder if the stones are bad enough or are recurring. I have heard many people say that gallstones can be a side effect of rapid massive weight loss. Good luck and congrats on your success
  6. Ontario... I can work with that. The biggest clinic in Ontario is the Surgical Weight Loss Centre in Mississauga and it has a very good reputation. It's probably your best bet because of its size. LAP-BAND®® Surgery Clinic | Weight Loss & Gastric Balloon in Toronto, Canada I go to CIBO in Toronto. Overall I give it a meh. I am not terribly disappointed but I'm not stunningly thrilled. LAP-BAND® Surgery Weight Loss Surgery Clinic Toronto | CIBO There are two other clinics in Toronto. Nobody I know has gone to the Yorkville one downtown and I haven't heard anything good about Slimband. Laparoscopic Band Surgery – (Gastric Band – Slimband) Again though, if you're just looking for fills you may have different priorities.

Do I Need A Lap Band Fill?

i think you should go as long as you can without a fill. Ask your doctor what he/she thinks but there are many people on this board who have lost a lot weight without a fill. I am not so lucky i have had 4 fills and i think i need one more tweak to get to the green zone Good luck and great job losing 24 pounds

    Quick Question

Welcome & you can lose as much weight as you want according to my surgeon.
  9. I'm new here and I like to introduce myself. My name is Andrea and I live in Switzerland. Today I had my first appointment with my Adipositas Doctor, he does all the testing. He told me that with my age (42) and my weight (360 lbs) most people can only drop about 150 lbs. Does anybody have any expiriance with that?

    plateau...

I had my WLS on 10/1/12 and to date have only lost 63#. I know I have eaten a few things I am not supposed to but have been back on track for a month now and still no weight loss. I haven't gained any but no weight loss is upsetting any ideas?
  11. I just had to share about my appointment yesterday!! Everything was good, good and good!! Doc was happy with my progress, and all my blood work came back great!! When they told me that my blood work showed NO signs at all of diabetes or being pre diabetic I started to cry. It came out of nowhere, but all I could think is I guess that worrying about getting diabetes bothered me so much more than I thought. My grandpa on my dad's side and my dad both got late on set diabetes so with my weight I just assumed I would get it at some point. It was such a relief to hear that now I will not. We also set up a date to have my ventral hernia removed from my lower right abdomen and I am so happy to be getting rid of that. Herman (as we refer to him in our house) needs to go, he was the reason I started this WLS journey and now with my weight loss so far he shows and is paining me more then ever. Good Riddance Herman!! Now onto my next goal of reaching 175lbs. Doc feels I should have no problem achieving this and so do I!! I attached a pic of me taken at my docs pre op appointment and one my hubby took me of my yesterday!!
  12. I felt the exact same way. I'm almost 4 weeks post op, and at the same point you are I was really discouraged. Especially when I was able to start puréed food (1 week post op). I felt the the tiny amount I was eating was keeping me from losing. But I stuck with it and my doctors instructions and the weight is coming off now. Good luck to you and hang in there it will get better soon!

    Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield Approval!!!

Thank you Valzie! I am going to press on with my surgery on Monday (July 2nd) and keep my faith that all will work out with Cigna. It's not about loosing the weight but it's about loosing the depression that is caused by the weight. Please keep me in your prayers as I seek to live a better life. I hope all is going well for you with your Quest to be happier and more self confident in life!

    Wow

I am loving my band. Never before have I been able to lose weight and KEEP it off! Thats the greatest thing! I'm at -70 pds now, down to 210. I feel SO much better. I'm thinking that i need to cut back on my BP meds cause i'm having lite headedness - have a call in to the dr to see about that. Anyway - thats much an update. :bounce:
  15. I did have to see a cardiologist, but that was because I have a heart murmer and aortic insufficiency - the valve in my heart leaks. It doesn't cause any big problems, yet, but they wanted to be sure. It made my anesthesiologist feel a lot better..... Plus, my cardiologist helped me get my approval by writing a letter of support for the procedure. He felt that a reduction in weight would put less stress on my heart, reduce my blood pressure, and alleviate some chest pain from the leaky valve. Which it has already. If you have any heart defects or problems, no matter how insignificant, I would see your cardiologist. They won't want any surprises in surgery....

    I've tried everything.

Almost 3 years out, and I do the same. Small, protein dense "meals" every 2-3 hours. I've been that way since I hit below goal weight, and have just been maintaining/coasting ever since.
  17. toodlerue

    Portion size

At almost 5 years out I still measure my food at home. I never go over 4 oz because it makes me too full. If I venture over 3.5 for too long I start putting on weight. I find that doing 5 3 oz meals a day is best for my weight control. This is also my surgeon’s instructions.
  18. I wondered the same thing. I KNOW my weight will not come off in my breasts (family history and weight loss experience tells me this) so am planning / hoping for a reduction and lift. Am curious how long the Dr will have me wait and how much weight I will need to lose before they approve the surgery Guess I'll make an appointment and find out

    A Personal Question. (TMI?)

Could it be just changes in hormones? When you are overweight everything changes and I am sure weight loss effects chemical reactions in the body as well. If it is a penetration thing, perhaps that is also due to losing excess fat in certain areas. Now that there is not as much cushion, the positions you are using may be allowing your man in further causing the discomfort you didn't feel previously. As far as the swallowing issue, I don't know what to say, only that I heard it was made up of mostly Proteins anyway. So you are at least safe there  Good luck on getting this problem solved. I agree with the others; see your GYN soon. Sincerely, Stephanie

Can you suggest a reasonable weight?

I'm 5'5.5" inches, 195 pounds currently and a size 9 to 9.5 shoe size. I want to get to at least 150 since that's my maximum "normal" weight. From there I will stop and live there for a while and see how I like it. I've always dreamed of being 135 for some reason, but I would probably look ghastly at that weight. Really, it varies person to person. You could stop right now if you're really pleased with your appearance, health, etc. Do what makes you happy, but not unhealthy :cursing:.
  21. Hi..I am having surgery this week. I am down to 212 pounds and am 5"3". I am now down 20 pounds on my own. I am so nervous to be cut. Has anyone had the smaller port put in? I am thinking I should just have that put in first. I am pear shaped vs apple, so most of my fat is in my rear. What do you think? They might have to do the fills under floroscopy I heard, but wouldn't I be better off in the long run after I loose the weight? Thanks, k
  22. This is not a sprint - it is a marathon. And you know what is awesome? You have made the incredibly courageous decision to have a permanent tool installed surgically to help you with this for the rest of your life. I am also no sprinter in the WL arena - at 48, 5'3" and feeling the change coming on with osteo arthritis that was a nightmare in my knees hips and ankles I too have issues to make losing and keeping it off an ongoing challenge. You will get there - practice mindfulness, patience, and follow your doctors orders. I too, like most of us have lost and gained back hundreds and hundreds of lbs. over my life - this is the first time I am not gaining it back, the scale doesn't jump back up and keep climbing the way it used to - I know that I can gain it back if I revert to my old habits. I lost 30 lbs. in almost a year of nutritional counseling, 14 lbs. in the 2 weeks prior to surgery (hello Atkins),and the other 103 lbs. have come off in the now 15.5 months since my surgery. I have 31 lbs. to go for the upper range of my goal - which is a "normal" BMI. Did I lose it in 6 months - gee that sure would have been cool but that is not my path. My path will simply take a bit longer and hopefully be scenic Since I have stalls often these days - I think I can wrap my mind around what maintenance at a healthy weight is - and it is great! I honestly don't feel deprived at all and that means I can practice it indefinitely. That is how I look at this now - much like I counsel my students about their artistic practice, this has become my own and my family's health and wellness practice - and it does take practice. Yes there is a honeymoon window - yes the best chances of getting the EWL off is during the first 24 month post surgery. If I am not there on May 21, 2014 will it stop me from losing every ounce of my excess weight - heck no it wont. I plan to keep on going, I don't care if it take me the rest of my freakin life to lose these last 31 lbs. I will get there

Hello Amceache, I was banded on the 9th, I too experienced horrible hunger pains. Anytime you need someone to talk to about your new adventure weight loss journey, I am here. Please do not hesitate to email me. keesee@windstream.net Like you, I think it is nice to know others understand how you are feeling. I had my surgery done in Mexico, because I could not afford to self pay here in the US. I have started a few solids, going by the sheet the doctor gave me, and it is much better now beginning the 2nd week. Just hang in there and do exactly what your doctor says, so you will not have problems later, and your tummy can heal quicker. Wish You The Best, LivinWithFaith/KY

Banded 4/9 and down 12 lbs! Granted I know that has a lot to do with the 2 day pre-op liquid diet and afterwards most of it is Water weight but I'm still happy! Today I walked on the treadmill for 30 minutes at a slow, but comfortable pace. The rest of the day, until about an hr ago, I had horrible diarrehea. The nurse said that could just be from the anethesia and CO2 getting completely out of my system and also the Barium swallow on the 10th. I'm hoping all that is gone by Wednesday so I can go to the Penguins playoff game against the Flyers! GO PITTSBURGH PENS! Hope everyone else is well!
