  1. That's great! My first NSV.... My A1C in January was 10.1. At preop, sometime in April it was 9.9. Two weeks after surgery (early May) it was 8. Endocrinologist was thrilled, already took me off one med.

    a maintenance NSV

Okay, life has been pretty weird lately. Do you ever go through phases where everything you touch just turns to crap? Well... last few days have been like that. Not one single thing was disasterous, but it was like a series of unfortunate events - ha! Really kinda got me down for a bit there. Seriously This is a partial list of the crap that has happened to me in the last 1-2 days: -vacuum stopped sucking -internet started sucking - damn brand new router just restarted itself at random and with some frequency (I work from home and really need reliable internet!) -Vet called in wrong scrip for my ancient dog (end of life pallitive care) and I had to beg pharmasist to give us enough pills for a few days until we could get scrip. -Had to wait forever for said pharmacist -Old dog couldn't get up Monday morning - I had to lift him so he could stand to go potty... poor old man, it breaks my heart! - and the worst... I sold my beautiful beautiful young horse to a new owner because I have had some health problems that prevent me from giving her what she needs. (like alot of blonde bombshells, she is high maintenance). I actually hired a trusted trainer to sell her and screen the buyer so she went to a home where her talents would be appreciated and her negatives would be managed... I disclosed EVERYTHING about this horse. The buyer turned out to be evil, and not even 2 weeks later is reselling her for way more money and the ad is packed full of lies. She is saying this horse is beginner safe and she is NOT. I am sick about it, what if someone is hurt? What if my beautiful horse is hurt? Anyway... here is the point of my post. I didn't turn to food even though I felt pretty frustrated and sad and even angry. Especially about my horse.

    Finally, an NSV

NSV = Non-Scale Victory --a weight-loss achievement that has little to do with numbers
  4. I'm a few days shy of my 4 months and I had another NSV! In May when I went on my honeymoon, I was one chicken nugget away from needing a seatbelt extender on the plane. Today, I flew to Washington DC by myself for work and this! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. I went out shopping today to find a cute dress to wear for Easter. As I hunted through the racks I saw one I liked but was disappointed that it was only a size 10. Still I figured, I'll try it anyway...the worst thing that could happen is that it doesn't fit. I slipped it on, zipped it up, and almost started crying with joy! I literally have not worn a size 10 dress in well over ten years. Single digits, here I come!

    Finally, an NSV

Um... what does NSV mean? Negative Size Vector Not Since Vacation Never Say Velvet Noon Should Vary I'm sure its obvious ... but I'm not getting it... At any rate, congratulations! That is such an awesome and wonderful feeling - the first of many to come! Mae

    Finally, an NSV

Congratulations! heh.. my hubby pantsed me when mine first started getting too big. As mad as I was (it was in the middle of a carpark! lol), I was sooooo happy that they no longer fit. Here's to many more NSV's to come

    Looking at the positive

With those NSV's I'm confident you will be heading toward more weight loss! It appears you are losing inches now and the scale isn't moving with it, but that will change again!
  13. My seven month sleeversary will be March 20th and I've been a bit discouraged because I've been hovering between 205-206 for a few weeks now. For the first time since being sleeved, I don't think I'll lose more than 2-3 pounds. So I decided to take stock of my NSV's. 1. Inches lost - Since I started the process in February 2012, I've lost a total of 60.6 inches! Over six of those inches have been in the last 45 days. 2. When I had my mammogram last year, I had to hold the gown closed. This year, It was swimming on me. 3. Last year, I was wearing a size 26/28 in jeans. This weekend, I bought a pair of size 14's. I can honestly not remember a time in my life when I fit in that size. Granted, they're a bit tight right now, but they zip up! 4. For the first time in years, I bought dresses. And they're 14/16, not 26/28. 5. When I did Walk MS this year, I walked the entire 5k and didn't feel like I was going to die. 6. I'm sleeping through the night, not waking up gasping for air or vomiting because of severe acid reflux. 7. I'm able to easily cross my legs. 8. I don't have to guess whether I can fit into a booth at a restaurant. 9. I'm able to get 2-3 meals out of an entree, or order an appetizer and have plenty left over. I'm sure there's a number 10, but I can't think what it is right now! I'm having an easier time eating foods I shouldn't have (chips, carbs) and I'm sure that's why I'm not losing much this month. I really think that since I'm pretty close to goal (15 pounds to meet surgeon's goal, 25 for mine), I'm kind of self-sabotaging. So my focus now is resisting those foods that don't give my body what it needs. I hope all my fellow August sleevers are doing well. Keep it up, we can do it!

    Two NSVs today

    Congrats on two great NSV's!!!
  15. 1. My winter coat that I could not zip last year now overlaps in the front. 2. Had my first session with a personal trainer tonight. Was so worried! But she is very supportive and we are starting out very slow. 30 mins of slow cardio, 30 of very light resistance. A hot shower, in bed, feeling very relaxed now. All in all, a good day. Pretty darned good progress for just over 9 weeks. Love this surgery!
  16. I maintained from April until August when I put 10 lbs back on. I was in Arizona in August selling all of my dad's things and getting his house ready to be put on the market. Ice cream (Cold Stone to be exact,) just sounded so good when it was over 100 outside and I was under so much stress. Since then, I am up and down 10 lbs but I can't seem to keep that 10 off and stay there. I had it off right before Christmas, but now I am working on taking it back off again. I should add though, that I have zero restriction and my dr will not let me have a fill because of some band issues I was having when he made me take out 1/3 of my fill. I exercise 6 days a week though, and had a great NSV yesterday when some guy asked me how I got my legs so toned.

    Only 2 Pounds In A Week :(

I agree with the others. LOSE the word "only" from your vocabulary. Pre-surgery, if you had lost 17 pounds in 17 days, you'd have been dancing on the ceiling! All of us would have been! There is a 3 week stall that most sleevers experience. You may just be starting yours a few days early. Our bodies are recovering from major surgery and from a major lifestyle change for most of us. It takes a bit for the body to adjust to the new normal. Don't worry, you WILL lose weight, and very quickly, but it won't be overnight. Think about how long it took to gain the weight. It will definitely take awhile to lose the weight. Once you are back on regular food, it will seem a little less intimidating to get in your Protein and Water each day, plus you'll have more energy for exercising, which will help the weight loss. Toss the scale and concentrate on getting your water and protein in each day. Look for the NSVs like your clothes getting looser and the amazing spike in energy that most of us experience. Look to some of the sleevers who have made it to goal and read their stories. NONE of them got to goal without a few glitches along the way. Some lose slowly, very slowly. Others have had long stalls where they didn't lose anything for weeks. What they all have in common is that they perservered through those stalls/slow losses and continued to drink their water and eat their protein. Oh, and that they all made it to their personal goals! This is definitely a journey rather than a sprint. I'm over 80 pounds down and I know there's no way I'd have made it here without Rex, my sleeve, helping me. I have a long way to go, but I WILL make it to goal. I've promised my surgeon and myself that I'm going to be one of the poster children for weight loss! You will be one too!!

NSV: I climbed a water fall

I can't belive I climbed Dunn's River Falls with my family and friends last week in Jamaica. I loved it, parts were challenging especially for the kids and I was not winded at all. I felt great to be able to help the little guys with ease. If fact I kayaked, snorkeled, rode a Water bike, jumped on and off a water trampoline, swam and sailed. A year ago, I most definitely would have passed on most of the experiences because I probably would have had a terrible time and been unable to breathe. I looked a little better in that bathing suite too. HEHEHE

Nsvs That I Am Psyched About!

This is great! I really enjoy reading everyone's NSVs. I went from a 42DD to a 38DD and now I'm having to be fitted again. I love it. And Leslie - you're doing fantastic for just having had your surgery a few weeks ago. Wait until it's been a few months and you can hardly believe how small you've gotten

NSV: I climbed a water fall

Congrats on the NSV and on your birthday. M
  21. Thank you all sooooo MUCH!!!!!!!! Tiff I miss being in here too, yet with my work schedule, and finding out I like to get out more now, not enough hours in the day!! I'm doing things I hadn't done in years!! My job performance has improved tremendously- and even my store manager has commented on it! ( that's always a PLUS when it come to evaluation time!! ) I'm getting out and meeting new people and running into old people that don't even reconize me!! ( such a NSV!!!) I've been out to a few clubs, and have men come up and talk to me!! Wooooooo Hooooooo!! I've even been out dancing!! OMG...... didn't know if I still knew how to dance hehehe!! Pumpkin- I thought I read someone had my surgersary date- and all I can say... is if I can do it so can you and anyone else!! I just follow the "rules"- yet I found out I don't like red meat anymore- but thats ok- My cholestrol prior to surgery was 350- it is now 118, so I don't need the red meat. He wants the # under 100. I think I would have made goal if I exercised, but shame on me, I havn't found a good routine for me. That is my next goal to get back to exercising. I met a friend that wants to work out together- I have a home gym and still don't work like I should at it. And this year I will quit smoking...... just not promising when, but I am ready to put them down... just have to get my head in the right place. I forgot to update my ticker!! Look at the BMI!!! I'm almost "normal"!!!:wink0:

    Kneeling and Getting back up

OMG that is great! Feels wonderful to be able to do things without thinking about how we will manage them, they just come naturally! Congratulations, great NSV.

    A nice NSV

Today is exactly 10 months to the day since my wife's surgery. We decided to go do some early Christmas shopping and she was rummaging in the closet for something to wear. She comes out of the closet dressed in a pair of brown pants. She works as a receptionist and always, ALWAYS wears black pants. She's had the same job for the last 4 years. Those brown pants have been parked in the back of the closet for 4 YEARS. She says, "These are a pair of my 'back of the closet pants." AND.....she has a little extra room in the caboose.
  25. Well, I've been at goal a while, and thought nsvs, and indeed svs were a thing of the past, but this sleeve just keeps on giving! 1: On holiday last week my MIL sneakily took a photo of me in a skimpy swimsuit, I saw it, and althouhh I am far from habing a beach body, I wasnt horrified either! Yay! 2: Yesterday a friend posted a pic of a pub we'd been to together on facebook, and I spent ages trying to work out who the people in the pic were only to recognise myself by virtue of the handbag I was carrying! I genuinely have to keep looking at it, and checking that is what I look like now - odd! xx
