Yes, Week 4 is notorious for everyone stalling. The body just needs a break to adjust to all that's happening to it. Very common.

Many return to work 1-2 weeks after surgery and do fine. I ended up resigning from my job 2 weeks before surgery and went back to help out part time at three weeks out (they lost their librarian so I was cataloging, shelving, shifting books and crawling around on the floor). Physically I was exhausted by mid afternoon...just so sleepy, but mentally I was able to think and do the job and participate in meetings.

I am returning this Monday - 2 weeks exactly from date of surgery. I am still a little tired but I think it will be fine.

i lost a lb a day for the first couple of weeks and stalled for about a week. it's not unusual. your body is adjusting a lot. if she keeps to her program she will begin to lose again soon. and then stall, and then lose. it's part of the process. hope that helps!

Will I ever be able to drink large quantities of water without stopping?
kellyw74 replied to ismini9's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can!! And could about 4 weeks out. I have not had any issues with liquids at all. I took the recommended sips for 3 weeks and then took bigger and bigger drinks. It hurt a few times in my chest and I backed off. I was still swollen I am sure. I take 3-4 big sips out of a straw without stopping and 2-3 big swallows just drinking out of a cup. I can drink a 16 oz bottle of water in no time! I think most on here can drink without issue!! Kelly -
Problems with certain foods frustration
lilricanliz posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey everyone!!! I'm wondering if anyone on here has had problems with certain foods. I'm 5 weeks out and have trouble eating things like lettuce, onions, and anything green. However during the Super Bowl I was able to eat things like pigs in a blanket, a chicken wing, chocolate covered strawberries, a pastello (it's like an empanada ), and a bunch of devil eggs. So my questions is what's up with the green food v.s the carbs the body can take/not take? I honestly thought I'd get sick and was eating very slowly, but it took. -
one month surgervrsery
twoboysandagirl replied to laylasmojo's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Tomorrow I am two weeks out. My surgeon requires a two day pre op diet of liquids only but I also had to loose ten % of excess weight before they would make a date. I have lost that and trying to lose a little more. Curious what was your two week diet? I am kind of doing a low carb/sugar, low fat, high protein diet. Some days I have just done protien shakes for morning or lunch and just a regular dinner. Congrats on your success! Your doing Great! -
I am one month out today it really amazes me how fast time flys by, I am only 4 pounds away from my half way goal which I am sure I will make by next week. I truly contribute being this far to my nut's pre op diet on which I lost 30 pounds. I really do recomend putting your self on a pre op diet even if your surgen and Nut do not require one, it really does help with getting your self ready for the change in diet post op and it puts you that much closer to goal for after surgey. Good luck to all who are considering VSG and to all who have all redady joined the loosers bench! You have all been such wonderfull inspiration to me

Hey everyone! It's been a few weeks since I've been on here, I've officially had the worlds craziest work month (the life of a nurse.) Anyway, I was banded on 7/25/12 and I'm feeling really great. Just had my 2nd fill yesterday, so I now have a total of 7cc in my band. I'm feeling so close to my "sweet spot", Dr. Thinks my next fill should really work wonders. Yeah! I haven't weighed myself since 2 days before my last fill, in which I actually did 2 days of clear liquids& Protein shakes prior to the fill and I'm going to do an extra2 days of it as well...sooo a total of 7 days of stage 1. I feel that its jumpstarting my diet again. My last weigh in at the doctors I was 209/210 (myscale said 209, his said 210) which was on the 20th. I've given myself a challenge. I told myself I want.to be out of the 200s by Oct. 1st, and its driving me nuts that I am not weighing myself everyday BUT guys, its so much better this way! I feel like I'm losing, I've been exercising everyday and burning a good amount of calories and my diet is awesome. Please please please pray that this can happen!! Even if the scale reads 201/200 on Oct 1st, I'll still feel great. I will update you guys on that day. I hope you're all doing well, I'm so grateful on my weight loss journey so far! Thanks!!!!XOXO -Melissa M.

Breathe! .......... Read a book, do some binge watching on TV, pack your bag, keep busy. Praying helps me! I don't get nervous until minutes before we go down the hall into the OR. Then.... I get a little nervous. I've had 28 surgeries so I not new to this. I'm not sure I know what kind of surgery you are having. Mine started with the Sleeve, then, last week we changed it to the By~Pass on 9.25.17. I'm so excited! ***Sending all good/positive thoughts to you!

How about the year stall, I want to lose way more than I did.

I was actually thinking about this today and was struggling with whether I should be more open about it. I have had quite a few people ask me about weight loss and my standard answer is I spend more time in the gym and less in the kitchen. This is the truth but really there is so much more to it. I know we have to do the work but it is SO much easier now than it ever was before. My hesitation to tell others was more out of a fear that it might not work and I would be judged for failing even with surgery. I still have that fear that it can't last. It never has before so how can this be forever? Hopefully as time goes on I will be able to accept it as a permanent solution. Maybe I need to go back home today and throw out those "fat" clothes I put in the attic last week.

!3 weeks after being banded and I saw my primary care Dr and she had be do some blood work. I just checked the results and all my numbers are in the normal range. My glucose is down to normal, A1C is down from diabetic to just pre-diabetic a whole point and a half, cholesterol is normal. Having my clothes become loose and had to get a smaller size bra. Even though I'm in a plateau, I'm seeing big results!

I had that feeling but only the first week it was like an alien in there just moving around. Everytime I would move from side to side, mainly when trying to sleep. I've never been pregnant but I would say that might be what it feels like lol. Good luck to you

My knees have hurt on and off for a few years but never anything too too bothersome. But oh my gosh, in the last 3 months they have killed!!!! At first is was like a pressure when I had to bend my knees. But now, it's a dull pain or pressure constantly (like a 2 or a 3 on a pain scale) and sometimes when I sit for a while (20 minutes or more) they are very stiff when I bend them. Also, the pressure is so intense sometimes when I need to bend my knees it feels like they might pop like a balloon (like a 7 or more on a pain scale). Sometimes when im standing or working it feels like they are locking up and maybe I'll fall. I couldn't get in to see my doc so about a month ago I saw an arnp. She told me she thought my knee caps were moving or something. I don't know. It didn't feel right. I am just hoping and praying that this will alleviate itself after my surgery March 12th as my weight drops. Has anyone else had similar knee issues and did they resolve? Lord, I hope so because at this point the pain is getting in the way of everyday life.

When Does The Soreness Go Away?
barebones replied to Winter84's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, having had multiple abdominal surgeries, I can tell you that big or small, the incisions are gonna smart for a while. Probably a good 6 weeks before the tenderness goes away. Hang in there! I am one day behind you on our journey!!
