For ME, i discovered i was suddenly able to chug a bottle of water (400ml) by accident around the 2 week mark (i was thirsty and forgot i was supposed to be sipping) Prior to that i was sipping my liquids from a 2 fl oz shot glass, probably getting in maybe 250 ml a day. I dunno if this is “normal” but it happened. So long as you aren’t in pain or get any adverse effects from drinking liquids, i figure its all good. Your heart palpitations though. For ME, heart palpitations means i ate too fast or too much and is the first sign of an oncoming dumping episode. How about eating/drinking less at one sitting and see if you still get them? Then you could see if there is a co-relation for YOU.

April 2022 Surgery Buddies
Quesodip251 replied to Crinkles's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can do it! Maybe you’ll hear back tomorrow since it’s the weekend now. I scheduled my surgery 2 months out to save up money (self-pay) and it’s been a long wait but nothing compared to some people’s insurance requirements with 6 month weight-loss diet and nutrition, psych consults, etc. I try to look at it as I only have 3 weeks left to get things done around here before surgery puts me out 🙃 -
How long does it take to eat normally at a normal pace?
HealthyMe67 replied to Lucylovesfood's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm 11 months out. I can tell you that the amount of food I can eat has been that same since about month 6. If I go out to eat with hubby, I usually eat about 1/3 of the meal. I take it home and we split the remaining portion for lunch the next day. I am thankful I can't eat like I did. It does take time to eat. Friends and family eat so much faster, I understand what you are saying. Be sure you check in with your dietitian. That is important as you are worried about malnutrition. I can also tell you that I lost ALOT of hair up until about month 8? 9? But it has definitely started to regrow! That was devastating to me.... It will grow back -
Less than month preop weight gain
LilaNicole20 replied to ItsChrissie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You’re losing weight. The body takes awhile to adjust. Stick with it and you will see results. Weigh yourself as often as you need, but understand the body will resist at time - that doesn’t mean your composition isn’t changing. It is. I’m in it with you! Mine was 3/8. -

Sleeving It Reel replied to Crinkles's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Goldengirl321, My surgery is scheduled for April 27. I am planning on taking a little over 2 weeks off. Hopefully that will be enough time. When do you start your pre-op diet? Is it liquid only? -
Less than month preop weight gain
ItsChrissie posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I had the sleeve done 3/14 and so far I have no issues. My stomach tolerates everything I introduce. I can intake liquids with ease and i have restriction with food. The day I arrived my weight was 311. Day of surgery I asked to weigh again I was 306. After surgery I weighed myself (I know I wasn’t supposed to I was 295). Today I’m 299.8 and I’m scared to be back over 300 lbs but why am I gaining weight? I’m not even eating enough food to be gaining anything. Is this normal? I’m so afraid of messing this up or failing but seeing the scale go up is sending my anxiety through the roof. -

Pregnancy after sleeve UPDATE
learn2cook replied to XtinaDoesIt's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Congratulations! I got pregnant while still overweight and the goal was to maintain weight, so don’t worry about stalls. Also my midwife said babies are like parasites and get what they need from our bodies whatever else we are doing. Sounds like you’re getting excellent care. I’m a teacher too and caught Covid right after the masks came off. It was brutal with double pneumonia even though I had had Covid in 2020 and had all my shots and boosters. Just an observation in my son’s pediatrician’s office and from my elementary school, this version of Covid is causing a lot of secondary bacterial infections and creating Diabetes I, Crohn’s disease, and PANDAS. If you’re not getting better from Covid at week 2 keep asking questions and ask for antibiotics. I’m not a doctor! My school has 200 kids and 4 brand new cases of Diabetes I, 3 Crohn’s, and 1 Pandas is a lot. Something’s going on, ask questions. -
Dumping Symptoms More Than A Day Later?
camperfour replied to camperfour's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At this point, I'm starting to think the pain in my side was not caused by what I ate or a stone. I was reminded by a family member that I did fall earlier this week, so maybe the position I slept in exacerbated the issue by Friday. I fall very often, so it never even crossed my mind as a possibility. Especially considering I wasn't in pain when the fall happened. Perhaps the timing just made me panic. I don't think it has artificial sweeteners, but here's a picture of the label in case I'm missing something. The diarrhea seemed like a direct reaction to how much I had drank, but it did appear to get the rest of that salsa out of my system so I guess drinking it helped in some way. -
2 weeks of a liquid diet and Surgery on the 18th. need to stock up on a few more things that i have coming from bariatricpal, need to hit up a dispensary (high CBD to low THC stuff) and get some pain medication as well just incase.

Weightloss stall during your period?
Queen ApisM replied to Upchurch08's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm still sorting out the pattern, but I think my weight loss stalls out/slows way down during my period. Mine isn't every 30 days but when your husband notices the pattern it is probably happening. LOL! -
Thanks Nikki & Summerseeker 🙂 I'm also not great at waiting, so have had to give myself a bit of a talking to! I'm staying off instagram as it was making me do exactly what you said summerseeker - I was thinking, oh if my surgery had gone ahead, this or that would have happened by now! I'm giving myself a couple of weeks to chill out, then will get back into some good eating patterns for a couple of weeks and then it will be LRD diet time (again!!). Trying to stay positive, and hope for third time lucky😂.

How long does it take to eat normally at a normal pace?
Lucylovesfood posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am 8 months post surgery and have hit my ideal weight. But I still can't eat like a normal person. 2 spoons of anything and I feel full. I have to wait another 15 minutes to eat another 2 spoons. I'm losing more weight than expected and I'm worried that I might be underweight soon. I don't wish to eat like I did pre-surgery but I do wish I can eat at least half the portion I used to eat at half the time. A normal portion of food takes me an hour or two to finish. I'm worried that I'll be malnourished and losing a lot of hair because of it. I've seen that some people have gained back some weight after a year into their surgery. I just want to eat like a normal person again. Sort of regret getting the surgery because I did not anticipate the depression that comes with not being able to eat and the muscle loss I've experienced. Can anyone share their experience 1 year post surgery? I need to know if I can eat normally again. 2 3 bites of food and then being full and not wanting to eat anymore is torture and unhealthy for my body. -
Anyone have an Abcess drain?
liveaboard15 replied to ILIQUET's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What surgery did you get? if you can update your sidebar with all your information. It helps when answering questions. you can do this in your profile section and click on surgery and you can add all the information. Good luck to you on that. I have surgery in 2 weeks. -
Good morning everyone, Did anyone have an abcess drain and sleep on there tummy? Just curious it's been a week with this thing and I'm tired of laying on my back but afraid to risk anything as I've been paranoid due to the in and out of the hospital for the past month Update : last week of Feb - surgery First week of Mar - spasum 2nd week - found out i had a hematoma that would go away on its own ( admitted ) 3rd week - it turned to an abcess so they inserted a abdominal drain ( admitted ) 4th week - went to the clinic to remove it but the discharge was yellow and my wbc was high so back to being admitted we went God willing April is better. Anyone with experience please if possible share the details i would greatly appreciate it 😊

Scheduled for June 16th. I'm feeling nervous about the 2-week pre-op diet. I'm returning to the office and a little worried about being around others without caffeine and being hangry. 😅 Anything you'll are worried about? How much time do you'll plan to take off from work?

I am 5 months post op rny bypass and do not have a uterus anymore, but still have my ovaries. I noticed that from around the 20th till around the 1st of the next month my weightloss stalls. I am assuming I am on my cycle. Do those of you whom have ovaries and/or a cycle notice this also?
-
I'll still get them if I eat something my stomach doesn't like, even 3 years post WLS (sleeve). My stomach doesn't like tortilla wraps, potatoes, or pasta.

My hunger is back and I’m gaining.
ms.sss replied to ShoppGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So at some point i theorize that each of us have to realize what it takes to maintain a certain weight and IF we are willing to put in the effort to stay there (and the reality is it will easier to do for some more than others). I spent a good two years gaining and losing the same 3-5 lbs in an effort to stay as close to the bottom (or preferably below) my self-imposed “happy weight range”. If/when i got within 1-2 lbs of the top of this range i was already going into self-correct mode. It happened often enough to become a chore. So I finally decided to up this range by 5 lbs last year and its like a weight off my shoulders. I haven’t had to self-correct since. Honestly it feels ridiculous now given that my happy weight range was a measly 5lb spread, but when i was committed to that original range, i took it very seriously and as a result it was a source of some low-key anxiety at times. It’s difficult to do, to switch gears from something you’ve been doing/thinking/believing for so long and that produced results in the past. As time goes by, i have been appreciating the value of peace of mind over numbers. But thats just me. So…are you content with where you are? Physically, emotionally and all that? If not, will the efforts required to achieve this content make you more or less content than u are now? You decide. Whichever way you choose, there are a ton of people on here that will support you either way. Good Luck! ❤️ -
November Surgery Buddies!!!
ForMyOhana replied to Tristenhilpert97's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I also struggle with straight water. I have read tha alkaline water is easier... but I don't like to pay for it. When my costco has it, I buy a case of the Gatorade Zero with Protein and then dilute it 50/50 with water to stretch the pennies and also get more fluid in. 4 and 1/2 months out from surgery plus my 1 week prep ... I'm down 97 lbs. I'm at a point where I've been at this weight a couple times in my adult life. What will be interesting and probably weird... is how I will look and feel after another 5 or 6 months when I'm back to weights closer to high school and college. -
Dumping Symptoms More Than A Day Later?
camperfour posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I made some very bad decisions and I'm unsure what to do next. My surgery was a year ago and I haven't really experienced any dumping since then. That false sense of security made me get extremely irresponsible this week. On Thursday night, I had a plate of tortilla chips, salsa, nacho cheese, and about an hour later, a shot of vodka. To make matters worse, I hadn't had much water that day. Friday, morning, I felt mostly okay but I had a dull ache on the left side of my groin. I was afraid it could be a kidney stone, so I bought a gallon of diet green tea around 7 PM and drank the entire thing in about four hours. At about 10 PM, I started having diarrhea and (this next part is graphic and I apologize in advance) I could see whole tomato bits from the salsa I had Thursday in it. I started feeling very lightheaded after about the fourth time going to the bathroom. Around midnight I ate a granola bar trying to settle my stomach. At 12:30, I had a small serving of cream of chicken soup because I was still lightheaded and shaky. The diarrhea made me go to the bathroom about six times overall. At 2 AM this morning, I had also peed about 64 ounces after drinking that gallon of green tea. I was extremely afraid to go to sleep while I was lightheaded because I thought I wouldn't wake up. Around 3 AM, the symptoms didn't feel as severe so I finally went to sleep. This morning, I had a little more soup, half a granola bar about 3 hours after that, and I am now slowly sipping a Gatorade Zero. I still feel slightly lightheaded at times, but it's not persistent like yesterday. I know all of this is because of my extremely stupid choices and I regret everything I did. I feel a lot better than last night, but the lightheadedness coming back today did worry me a bit. Should I just wait it out at this point?- 7 replies

April 2022 Surgery Buddies
Kimmy Kaye replied to Crinkles's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been on a 1000 calorie diet for a week now and I am amazed that I haven't felt all that deprived. Tomorrow, I start the all liquid diet, still at 1000 calories per day. I am thankful it is only for 3 days for me. Took my COVID test yesterday. Taco Bell commercials get me every time but I remind myself the food is never as good as it looks in their ads. Lol. Helps a little! -
