Well, I'm still kinda chubby, but I look so much better than this time last year. I'm more upset over regaining 4 of the pounds I lost and also watching my waisteline grow even when the scale is staying the same. I've actually dreaded going to church (we've been out for several weeks). I don't want my friends to be disappointed in me. NSV - went walking with DD today (in this heat) and I feel so good. 3 miles in 90 degree weather is quite a haul. It's been several months since we've been. She's doing great with her new lifestyle and is enjoying the attention a new body brings. I'm as happy for her as I am for myself! (almost) We both have an October and January goal. Today has been a good day. I'm forcing myself to eat slower and chew chew chew. House issues continue to be ironed out.

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

JUDY - so nice to have you back, and so glad you had such a wonderful time. I can't wait until I have such great NSV"s I need them these days. LOL well, i'm up again today, I just can't take it. I need a fill and don't have any insurance, so I guess self discipline is what it has to be. but the problem is, I'm so very very stressed the past week I just don't have it, I'm really not eating a lot, just not the best choices. My fingers and feet are so swollen - I'm going to take my water pill and try to flush it all out the next 2 days well i'm off to take my aunt out. My mom just told me I was earning my halo.... but I actually do it all because I love my insane family and enjoy helping when I can. it is my time, it is going to get better. I don't know when and I don't know how, but I do know that god does have a plan and in the last 8 months I have grown religiously so much. 8 Months ago, I would have been frantically freaking out trying to make a plan, right now, I'm semi calm and know it will be ok and letting him help me, not making a plan, just doing what I feel I need to do as it comes at me. For all you who are not religious, I apologize, just ignore my ranting, for those who are, I know you understand what I'm trying to get at here. 8 Months ago I would have just read this and said they are insane - I love my pastor and his wife, and they are real people and came into my life when I needed them most. ok I'm done and out. be back Hey Tracyks - how was your weekend? where you at????

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

SHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE'S BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!! Good morning all you lovely Violets.. I've MISSED you!!! We had an AWESOME time on the cruise.. the best ever and most of it was due to the new bodies we were sporting. We walked up and down the stairs.. very rarely took elevators so didn't have to wait and wait to get where we wanted to be. We went to the gym 4 out of the 7 days and did our workouts. And I must say we enjoyed the meals. Was I perfect?? nope. Was I guilty.. nope. Am I back "on the wagon".. you betcha!!! We had some lovely people from Ireland as table mates and Ann was admiring my jewelry. She was asking about my Pandora bracelet and I explained that each of the angels was for 10# gone and she said.. NO.. you would never know you were that heavy. NSV right there, folks!!! I told her about my WWJD bracelet and she thought that was lovely too. Her husband took our picture instead of us paying to have it done by the ship photographer. DH said.. "she looks great doesn't she?? I think I'll marry her." Ed then said in his wonderful Irish brogue... "If I wasn't married, I'd marry her meself". Another NSV!!!!! AND when they had the sailaway party and were dancing ... I WAS THERE dancing away to YMCA and the Macarena and I even got on the DVD of the cruise that they were selling. I NEVER would have done that 55# ago!! We saw whales, a bear up close and personal, seals, eagles and lots and lots of jewelry and shirts!! I tried to get caught up on all the posts since I've been gone, but that will be an hour or so project!!! I've got tons of laundry to do today and Ethan is coming over at noon. I'll be so glad to see him again. We really missed our yorkies too. It was so nice to be able to cuddle them again last night. Everyone have a great day. I'm not even going to think about weighing in until next Sunday. That will give me a week to work off what I'm sure I gained on the trip. I had a couple of episodes of sliming, but never PB'd. I just got to eating too fast and talking and thud.. there it sat. I would get up and walk around and it would be ok thank goodness. Everyone have a great day and I'll check back in here when I can!! Patience, trust and WWJD?!!

Hey there everyone! Glad to hear from some of you that have been out of touch for a bit of time. Leila and Cindy, you look awesome!! Keep up the great work I had a NSV this weekend. I went shopping for some Fall clothes for work. I was able to get in a size 14 pant without effort. However, they are still too tight in the butt and croch, but they buttoned and zipped with no effort. I bought size 16's for the last season!!! I got this little tidbit in my email. As we are all struggling with our own food demons, I thought this might give some of you a little chuckle like it did me. Enjoy! Melissa Lea A good piece of chocolate has about 200 calories. As I enjoy two servings per night, and a few more on weekends, I consume 3,500 calories of chocolate in a week, which equals one pound of weight per week. Therefore... In the last 3 1/2 years, I have had a chocolate caloric intake of about 180 pounds. I weigh only 165 pounds, so without chocolate, I would have wasted away to nothing about three months ago! I owe my life to chocolate!

I must say, Cindy and Leila, for some gals who are "struggling", you're lookin' great doing it. I think we're all having similar issues. I did really well at lunch. Small healthy portions, but then after everything was put away, I grabbed some chips! Drat..... NSV - I did manage to eat slowly and enjoy the food. My latest little trick has been to eat faster and ignore the warning signs of imminent pb's. I kinda think I was waiting for the band to maybe ..... disappear? Somehow I haven't gotten around to accepting this implant as a lifetime deal. I want to get back to losing too. I'm certain junk food is keeping me from being a good bandster. Anyone else have an epiphany on why the Junebies (for the most part) are struggling?

    A thread for Single Bandsters

Minor NSV today....I had a chance to climb through a B-17 bomber today. That thing is VERY tight, especially the walkway above the bomb bay. The gentleman in front of me in line was not allowed in the plane due to his size -- which was pretty much the same size I was just before surgery. Thanks goodness for the band, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to see the inside of the plane

    Congrats on the NSV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. Good morning violets.... DH and I went to the casino last night and we had a blast. We hardly ever get to do anything since he is working all the time...so we had fun. Michelle-congrats on the NSV!! Tht is great! TracyKS-yay on the -50. I smiled all day when I hit that mark too. Go girl! Everyone have a good day & take care! PS...Jenn-I will say a prayer for you!
  11. Good Saturday Morn, Violets~~ NSV this a.m.... "shopped" in my closet & "purchased" a denim jumper that was crammed at the bottom of a big pile of old stuff/stuff that didn't fit... was a bit nervous to try it on... didn't want it to *still* not fit!... but it does!... one might even say it's a bit on the big side!!... I know I was bursting it at the seams the last time I remember wearing it... I'm just glad to have something "new" to add to my clothing rotation... I imagine that the folks I see regularly -- at school, soccer, poms, PTA, the neighborhood, the grocery store... -- are sick of seeing me in the 3 or 4 outfits that comprise my "regular" clothing rotation... I know that I am! So it's nice to be able to add in something old that's new again... for me AND for them!! ((hugs)) Pam... when your supervisor wrote back that response, did you reply simply "YES!" ?? Today is dd's first pom performance!! + ds has a soccer game and dh is riding in his first bike "race" (a metric century ride)... and me? I'm just coordinating it all! Make it a great day, everyone!

Phyl - I agree its time to go off on them. I am always too patient and put up with bad service too long and hold it in then if it gets bad enough I blow up. This has only happened 8 or 10 times in my life but it is not pretty when it does happen. I would let them have it. What about going to another doctor? My dw was having pizza as I was reading your post regarding pizza. I am soooo hungry. Laurend - I am going to try alternating my calorie intake weekly at least until my fill. I have no problem increasing it, I don't know about reducing it. Chim - Yes we are going to make it. On a positive note - NSV - I donated 3 large garbage bags of clothes to Goodwill las week. I hope I don't need them again before I get my fill. Indiogirl - Thanks for the info re: onederland. It will be a while for me, is there a twoderland ? What is motivating me to lose weight? Two Things: 1. Health. I have a serious back problem and could loose control of my bowls, bladder or leg(s) at any time. I was told that two years ago after an MRI. I was sent to a surgeon who said I was too fat to have back surgery and that if I lost use of my bladder, bowls or leg(s) to go directly to the emergency room. Also he said if I lost weight I could come back an he would operate. Nuts to him. I am going to loose weight and hopefully after losing half of my body mass my back issues will be manageable without back surgery. Thats my plan. 2. Not to sound corny, but I would like to be a better husband and father. My dw has said I have already stooped snoring! Its a start.

    Marchies in September!!

NSV More like a surprise observation. I typically wear old 4X tank tops to sleep in. They are huge at this point...and all were dirty so I dug into my sleep shirt drawer and pulled out a black, stretchy cami with a built in shelf bra and put it on. I must have bought it years ago when my weight edged down a bit, but it never fit, it was always too small. So woo hoo, it fit. But it gets better. I go about my evening...and just before bed I bush my teeth in the half dark bathroom only to catch my reflection and I got a, "damn, you look nearly normal sized." reaction from myself. I have a neck and collar bones and my shoulders are squaring up a little...I had to pause and think, "wow". Sometimes we don't see the changes in our selves like other people see them. Last night was a first for me. Cool huh?

Oh, I forgot--Kathy asked about motivation. I have to be honest here. I have a son and daughter who are in serious relationships with wonderful people. I suspect there will be two weddings coming up, and I didn't want to let worrying about what to wear spoil my happiness for them. The other thing was that I was feeding a baby one day and couldn't hold her on my lap because there wasn't much lap there. I had to hold the baby off to the side to feed her the bottle. (Remember when you were pregnant?) I thought that it would be so sad not to be able to hold and enjoy my grandbabies. Honestly, that's my motivation. The good news is that I held another baby last weekend and had a LOT more room on my lap this time. A NSV! Now of course it will be wonderful to pitch the sleep apnea machine, not have joint pain and carpal tunnel, get off the blood pressure and cholesterol medications, and have more energy!

    Marchies in September!!

Janine - I'm glad you got that unfill, I was worried about you. Great to see you back, TammyJ! We missed you! To The Bitch: Awesome NSV story! LMAO....soon you'll be "Skinny Bitch". Jeni, Feeling pretty good about my progress, and am happy with my band for sure. No regrets at all. I have to weigh myself daily. I actually read something that people who do weigh frequently manage their weight better. As long as we don't freak out over the normal fluctuations, I think it's ok. Jmcambra - Happy 6 month bandiversary today! Me too! You have really done well with your commitment to exercise. I was going to post my 6 month pics today, but something is wrong with my before picture. It's not the right type of file or something, and I don't know why. It's because I had rotated it, I think. I'm not very good at this. Any suggestions?

I am so proud of all of us as I read these posts!!! I remember when it was nothing but bansdster HELL and now its nothing but NSV"S!!!! I love my new elliptical......doing about 12 minutes at a time and I really start to sweat immediately!!! My latest NSV is I have a pair of board shorts (nice way of saying fat lady shorts) that I wear over my bathing suit. They velcro instead of zipping and last year they used to rip apart when I sat down.......this weekend I could get them on without undoing the velcro.....they went straight on. I know it does not sound that exciting but when I thought of how tight they used to be I just sat down and had a moment!! Does anyone ever do that? Every once in a while I think....Oh my god this is really happening, I might actually be thin after all! After so many failed attempts and yo yo diets.....this could actually work!!!!

    Truth in Tickering....

I'm not worrying about the scales too much. I am making an effort to walk more each day. I've lived in this body long enough to know that the scales only move some of the time, and when it takes a break, the belt buckle moves. (Okay, so I don't really have a belt that goes around me at this point, BUT, I have had to retire a couple of skirts for fear I'll lose them and trip myself up!! Need to post that in the NSV thread, huh? My nutritionist didn't think I could be plateauing this early (three weeks post op + almost three weeks on pre-op = right time frame for a STALL!!)....but then, she hasn't been the one inside this body for 45 years!!! She told me to do another week on full liquid, but I was going to lose my mind if I didn't have something FRESH -- so I've been nibbling (and choo-choo-chewing!!) on a little fruit and salad stuff....and a little more real food. I did have two ALMOST PBs, enough to produce a little sliming -- both times, just got in too big of a hurry and was eating hand-held food!!!! I'm gonna have to start using a fork and knife on everything. I'm used to 'micro-bites' with them, but my mouth doesn't yet know how to take a little bite. Thanks for the support ya'll.

LOL yes it is! Congrats on your NSV!!! Look at that cute little butt! hehe I got into an 18 yesterday...does that count? LOL I also went from a 3x top to a 1x - I bought a few new tops last night because I look like a bag lady in the rest of my clothes!
  20. I am a long way from AFTER but I had to pop in here and share this mornings NSV! These are my WELL WORN NON-Stretch Levis size 14! I've been trying them on every week for the last two months seeing how far up I can get them.... A little over a month a go was the first pic.... there was NO amount of sucking and stuffing that I could make the sides meet... so it was my August goal to get into them by labor day.... I'm a couple days late, but HERE I AM THIS MORNING! a true testament that inches do come off even when the scale is not budging! Breathing IS over rated! I LOVE MY BAND

Well, It wont be a NSV for me until they actually fit but it made me feel good anyway. A really thin girl at work had a baby about a year ago and said she had some clothes she wore after the baby that she had bought at GAP or somewhere, she asked what size I was in now and I told her 18's and some 16's. She brought me these clothes which are 12's and 14's!! I am not even able to squeeze into them I am sure but it made me feel so good that someone else thinks I will be able to soon. My scale still hasnt moved in a while and my trainer is kicking my rear at the gym so I know with the muscle weight will start coming off too. Way to go on all the NSV's!

Hey, I just came on to post a NSV and I saw someone had beat me too it! Way to go Cindy! I went and had lunch today..they had some baked talapia (fish) I thought would be a good thing for me to eat. Well, ate about half of it, but I was going real slow cause I could feel it kinda sticking. Sure enough I had to get up and run to the bathroom, praying the whole way i would make it ontime. PB'd that so went back and had a couple of slices off pickled beets that came off the salad bar..nice and soft so I thought they would work... again, I had to excuse myself and run to the bathroom (sliming and trying not to look like it). So I went back to the table and grabbed a to go box and told the girls at the table who were all looking at me like...do I need to worry about you? I just told them I was having some gastro problems. Anyway...I have some yogurt and a bananna in my office, I will try that later. wow, this third fill is really different...I have to get used to it. I am hoping it settles in a bit better than this. If not..I am going to lose weight fast. My NSV is that when I was walking back to my office...I got chased down by a skinny coworker who I havn't talked to in several months she said, (no hello how are ya) I need you to write down everything your eating because I want to loose weight too! Can you believe it...someone noticed! Yeah! Yippie....she made my day. Blessings
