My head is so foggy I can't get my **** together. Help, please?
Mom26 replied to glitterpockets's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How truly tragic -- I'm so incredibly sorry for your loss. I can send you a serving or 2 of GENEPRO if you'd like. Then you'd at least be able to try it out and see if you like it. If you want, message me your address and I'll drop it in the mail to you on Monday. I'm in NY - so you'd probably have it by Wednesday. -

Yaberhoo replied to glitterpockets's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First of all, be gentle to yourself during this hard time. You have just experienced a tragedy and you are in shock. Forgive yourself for being spacey and allow yourself to grieve. Protein. I hate all the Protein shakes I have tried so far. I use GENEPRO and mix it with sugar free hot chocolate or a cream based Soup. It's whey and unflavored (but not tasteless) so the milk based foods hide it better. You need to use a thermometer to keep the liquid below 140 degrees or the Proteins start to congeal like fried egg. Vitamins. I found a one a day Vitamin specifically for bariatric patients on Amazon. It's called Bariatric Once-A-Day by Prohealth. -
Unflavored protein powder
Yaberhoo replied to glitterpockets's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can't stand any of the Protein shakes I've tried. Instead I use GENEPRO and mix it with sugar free hot chocolate or cream soups. Since it is unflavored whey Protein Powder, it mixes well in milk based foods. Plus the hot chocolate is a treat! -
I am newly sleeved(12/08/15) and am still working on getting protein through food alone. I have tried premier protein ready to drink shakes, which I really like, and isopure, which I found less than desirable (maybe the flavors I tried?). My question is have any of you tried Genepro? I read that it can be mixed into anything without the chunky, grainy texture of some powders. It is also supposed to be flavorless. Anyone use or have tried it? Opinions? Thank you!!

It's called GENEPRO...I love it so far. On another hand I hope you feel better soon as well. Everybody is different when having this surgery. I've heard so many different stories...me myself I think it was pretty good...I didn't have a lot of pain and I feel normal now at 14days post-op. Walk, walk, walk that should help with some pain. GOODLUCK????

Starting to feel bulimic...
A New KK replied to tera1982's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As a rule (pre-surgery) I don't like refried Beans but they're packed with Protein and I add some shredded cheese and light sour cream and I can eat them. It's a break from cottage cheese and yogurt. I whip the cottage cheese with some sugar free blackberry jam and it tastes better. I also do ricotta instead of cottage cheese sometimes. I am at almost 6 weeks and yesterday was the first day I could hold down scrambled eggs. I had turkey sausage with it and ate that first and I think since is was higher in fat it smoothed the way down for the eggs. I still can't eat chicken, tuna comes right up. Crab with a little mayo stays down and so does lobster. The softer the food the better. I struggle to get to 60 grams of protein daily but found a 30g unflavored protein powder that I add to the refried bean or to stewed lentils today that got me up to the right amount. The brand is GENEPRO Medical Grade Protein which I purchased on Amazon. -
Any actual stats or research on Genepro protein?
ready2bmenow replied to Mrs_O's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I mix my Genepro with water and crystal light twice a day, it makes it cloudy but doesn't alter the texture or flavor...my favorite by far. I will probably be devastated if my protein level is not high enough and I have to switch. -
Flying while sleeved!
trekker954 replied to taylor2621's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
good topic. I too fly a lot and often to Asia. I asked my surgeon (have not had my surgery yet) and he said I could fly 10 days after. That's a bit too soon IMHO being the more experienced one. I am hoping to fly once I get on pureed food. I believe not only the flying may be difficult, but being in China for two weeks on business, having to attend luncheons, etc. I figured I can survive by ordering Soup and maybe mushy fish, or just soup and toss a tablespoon on GENEPRO in it. -
Any actual stats or research on Genepro protein?

where can you order it I got my sample directly through the GENEPRO website, but that was back when I first had my surgery over a year ago. I believe it was also available on Amazon at that time. thank you really appreciate it -

Any actual stats or research on Genepro protein?
JamieLogical replied to Mrs_O's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The only "studies" are ones they have done themselves. I have found no third party confirmation of their claims. If you want to use GENEPRO, I would advise counting it as 15 grams of Protein toward your daily total instead of the claimed 30 grams. Logically, it's not physically possible to fit 30 grams into 15 grams. Grams are a measure of mass. The claim is that their specific formula of protein is absorbed and utilized by the body at a much higher rate than "normal" protein supplements, thus you allegedly get the BENEFIT of twice as much protein in half the mass. But again, there are no independent studies to prove their claims at this point. So you would be totally taking it on faith and running the risk of only getting half as much protein as you think you are. That's why I recommend counting it as just the actual and real 15 grams of protein. If you are getting the "benefit" of more protein because of their special process, then great, but at least you can be sure you are still getting your minimums in by counting it as only 15 grams. -
Any actual stats or research on Genepro protein?

very interested in the low "dosage" of just 1 tablespoon of the genepro protein powder but it really does sound too good to be true. i have not found any stats or research on it other than listed from the company so i was wondering if anyone has any actual third party info on it? anyone have good protein levels while on it? i know it will not be my only source of protein but i don't want to waste time and money if it is bogus. it just seems like mixing a tablespoon in something would be much easier than your standard size 1/4 cup serving/dosage. thanks in advance!!! -
Any Second Thoughts while on pre-op Diet?
mommy319 replied to tcshrink's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There are plenty out there. My surgeon sells his own brand of shakes and i was not a fan of the price or taste. I ordered syntrax nectars and matrix they have a guarantee. If you dont like it they will refund you. I liked some flavors prior to surgery but not after. I also use genepro clear protein with no flavor from amazon. There is something out there comparable to what your surgeon pushes im sure. Good luck! -
Any Pittsburgh Pa Sleeve people out there?!?
Beck Gal replied to claddagh66's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can't start Vitamins until the my first follow up appointment on the 29th when they hopefully advance me to soft/bland foods. Makes sense since the ones they suggest aren't pureed lol. I feel like all i do all day is drink, but that is the name of the game at this point. The fair life fat free milk has like 11 grams of Protein in a cup.. And then adding Protein powder (I use a half scoop of cellucor) gets me to around 25 grams.... And then I just need a half scoop of GENEPRO to get me to 40g. That was a struggle yesterday because the shake took me like over two hours to drink like 9oz!!! So crazy. Since Yesterday was also the first time that my husband cooked a fantastic meal for a couple friends in front of me... I'm starting to get a little impatient for other tastes. Haha just being really careful about what I try. I just had like 1 full small spoon of tomato sauce and that was lovely. -
Genpro has changed, anyone try Piping Rock Whey Protein Isolate Powder?
Mrs_O replied to OKCPirate's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
hi all! i am almost to surgery date scheduling in my process and i have been researching Proteins to try. I was initially sold on the GENEPRO but now i little nervous based on these talks of reformulating. i don't mind trying the other but my initial draw to the genepro was the small scoop serving. is this comparable in the piping rock? -
Genepro protein powder is the best! It is odorless and tasteless. I order mine from Amazon and I make smoothies with it and I mix it in my yogurt and hot chocolate. Doesn't change the taste or texture at all.

I started drinking coffee right after surgery. In fact, it was one of the liquids offered to me at the surgical center which surprised me. I've never had a problem with it. I usually add a scoop of Genepro protein powder in the morning to my cup for the extra protein. I live in the Seattle area and we are definitely fond of our coffee here!

how much are you eating after 1 month?
SassyNanny replied to roxy79's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My Dr. has me on liquids only for one month. Blended Soups are ok. I am supplementing the Soup and ff sf pudding with GENEPRO Protein powder and Premier Protein drinks to get to 90 grams a day. I am able to drink a cup of liquefied Progress chicken noodle soup before having signs of fullness. I am averaging about 800 calories a day. I have lost 18 pounds in 3.5 weeks. I have had a stall of about 3 days. Struggling to get all my Water in and I haven't really been walking a lot as advised. I live alone on a steep street and after getting a partially numb foot after hip replacement I use a cane so walking isn't easy. I'm meeting a friend at the Y on Monday so I am looking forward to starting a new trend. I see the Dr this coming week so I will get some more input. I haven't had any vomiting or gas or pain since surgery. When I get full it comes on all at once and I make sure I stopped. I was very sick of soup so I used my nutribullet on a Thai Chicken with peanut sauce 300 calorie Lean Cuisine and it blended down to less then a cup. I was full at the 3/4 mark. Ever since the 1st week I have been able to drink more then some who say they get sick if they have more then an ounce or two. I was a little worried and posted my concern and got feedback that helped. I was told that some people heal more rapidly and the liquids can start to move through the sleeve while you are drinking. They suggested it would change when I started to eat solid foods as the stomach holds onto it longer to digest. Hoping it is okay. I've followed directions about what to eat. Just hope the portions aren't messing me up. I'll find out Wednesday. Sorry for the long response. I guess I needed to vent a little. -

Yay! How is everything going, ladies? I've got 4 days left!!!! All my food funerals are planned, and I bought some stuff for after surgery (robe, genepro, extension cord for my hospital stay, etc) getting kinda freaked out, honestly, but staying focused on the after surgery good stuff -
Protein Drink witch one
SassyNanny replied to sharoninidaho's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use Premium Protein from Costco and I really like the chocolate and the vanilla. The strawberry cream is too sweet for me but my friend loves that flavor. I also got Genepro unflavored protein powder that I use in sf pudding and blended soups. I'm getting plenty of protein easily. I have been blending frozen fruit in my Premium Protein and it is delicious and my tummy doesn't mind. -
How much should i be able to drink?
SassyNanny replied to Wehrm's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use Premier Protein liquid protein drinks from Costco and really like them. Sometimes I put one in the blender with frozen fruit and they are really delicious. I also ordered Genepro unflavored protein powder to add to soups, purees and puddings. They both have 39g of protein a serving. Huge amount of protein!! Best Wishes! -

SassyNanny replied to Wehrm's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use Genepro flavorless protein crystals in blended soups and pudding. My Dr said 1-2 oz water every 15 min and 1-2 oz protein drink ( I enjoy Premier Protein from Costco 30g protein in 11oz.) For gas try Gas-X dissolvable sheets. They are a refreshing minty taste which helps. -
I need food! 7 days post op
SassyNanny replied to scarlep's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm day 18. After a week I was sick of sweet Premier Protein drinks too. My Dr said that if something would suck up s straw it's a liquid. (Can't use straws. Just an example). I've been putting Progresso soup in my nutribullet and after heating it up adding Genepro powdered protein. It's 30 grams of protein a tablespoon. Saved my sanity. I also have been blending frozen peaches and bananas in my protein drinks. A little pumpkin pie spice on the vanilla one is yummy. I heat them up sometimes for hot cocoa or vanilla egg noggishness. I'm on liquids for 4 weeks. That newborn baby stomach needs to heal and I don't want to get ahead of what it can handle. -
September Sleevers
SassyNanny replied to ANewMe9/21's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Genepro makes a crystallized protein whey that is odorless and tasteless. Mixed with hot or cold. It was very sick of sweet too. Now I can add it to blended soup I'm a happy girl. Btw. I had used progresso soups for years and knew they were high in sodium. A whole can was about 1500g. I got some regular old Campbell's cream of chicken. Didn't thin it out just heated it up. The can had 4400g of sodium. I was flabbergasted. -
Cannot get any protein shakes down!
Yaberhoo replied to CathyEC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first week after surgery I was restricted to Clear Liquids only. They weren't concerned about me getting much Protein during that week. I can't stand Protein shakes so I relied heavily on GENEPRO mixed into my foods.
