    Am I Alone?????

I've been thinking about this thread and finally decided to say something. While there are many sad aspects of being fat that we all can relate to, there are some that come with being extremely large that lesser size people haven't faced yet. I haven't been "only" 75 lbs. overweight since high school. When I dieted down to 130 lbs. overweight, I felt so good, like I could live an almost normal life. At 240 lbs. overweight every day seemed to bring new indignities. For example, the weekend before surgery the wooden chair I was sitting on at scrapbooking collapsed into pieces, throwing me to the floor from which I could barely get up. I've had to ban myself from all sorts of activities (baseball park, concerts, theaters, flying) because I can't fit in the chairs--things I could do when I weighed "only" 300 lbs. My NSV this morning was wiping my own ass, without using the long handled spoon I've had to employ for some time. Where else but the 200+ board can I say that and have people really understand. So, yeah, I can understand feeling that people with much less lose don't really get all our pain. I think this board should be a place where we can admit those feelings, however ungracious they may be.

    NSV x2, hopefully not TMI

That's so awesome, well minus the puking patient ! ! ! Many congrats chickee, you've been rocking your sleeve, and so glad you updated with such great NSVs.
  5. These" little" NSV are great, I love your story! (Hope your patient is OK)
  6. Today is one of those days where I feel like I'm going backward. Though I've made amazing progress in the past three months, the past week is what is getting me down. It's the yo-yo plateau. You know, the same two pounds...back and forth, back and forth. Ugh! I am trying to step up my exercise and mix it up a bit. Watching my calorie intake. Trying to keep my water intake up as well. Those two pounds just won't leave forever! I know I should focus on NSVs like all the positive comments I'm getting from people; the fact that I have very few items in my closet that fit; the fact that I just got a pair of pants that are THREE sizes smaller than what I had when I started this journey. Isn't it amazing how two freakin' little pounds can trip you up in such a way. Okay....gonna try to be more positive tomorrow.
  7. It's been a long time since I've posted anything here. I just had to share this with you all... I went to Target today to buy a new pair of workout pants. I left the store with a size EXTRA SMALL. I wore a freakin Size 28 W pants when I first started my weight loss journey. Just so you know... it IS POSSIBLE!!! Keep your eyes on the prize, because even at 15 Months out I'm still making the magic happen. Much Love, Xoxo

    Scale and non-scale victories!

You won the double lottery of scale and NSV victories in one. That is indeed a reason for celebration! Way to go!

I had the same experience a few weeks ago. My hubby even gasped when they brought the little cotton dress out..i stared at him in fear..It fit with room to spare...i love NSV of my own and love hearing others ...WTG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats! Where I live they have made huge brown ones for the fluffy people and I tell you I could swim in those ones. so I have no idea who decided on using 25 yards of material for those..So glad I am not wearing them now!

    Encouragement

That is AWESOME Marie! Isn't it amazing the difference with the weight-loss???!!! I think we are actually very strong from the years of carrying the extra weight... and then... when we lose a chunk of that weight... WATCH OUT LANCE! WTG!!!!!! I love hearing about NSV's... it just makes my day! I was just happy to be able to ride my bike the last few weekends... I got it for Christmas and the beautiful thing had just been collecting dust as it was just too uncomfortable to ride at my previous weight. I am so glad that I am able to enjoy it now and know it will just get easier and easier! Darcy

    Encouragement

Neicy, that's why I posted about this trip... to encourage other bandsters and let them know that their life is just going to get better and better. Hopeful 1, I didn't have a clue what would happen to me after I got my band. I really assumed I'd fall flat on my face. To lose 50 pounds has not been hard at all. In fact, it's been so rewarding to see the NSVs uncovered. I never dreamed I'd fall in love with bicycling and go on beautiful treks. And to be capable of climbing any mountain trail that I wanted - all the way to the top and back down. Well, that has to be one of the most rewarding moments in my life. I've learned that it takes more than just losing the weight. You have to also have some steady form of exercise to build up your endurance. Without the routine bicycling, I would not have had the lung capacity and the leg strength to hit those mountain trails. There were times I was huffing and puffing, but I did it! Again, please let me encourage you to reach out there and attempt things that you might never have even contemplated. You and your family will be so pleasantly surprised. Best of luck to each of you!!!
  14. Wow awesome my first NSV i think.
  15. Patrick, that is wonderful!!! Cody, NSV = Non scale Victory = good things.
  16. I went in for my 6 month check up today and I have lost 75% of my excess weight. I am only 28 pounds from goal and I am down 5 sizes (20 -> 12). I feel great, I look great and I am oh so happy with myself. I can move better, I am exercising because I WANT to and I haven't been happier than I am right now in I don't know how long. So what dumbass move did I make today? I signed up for a Rugged Maniac that's coming to my town in the spring. WOOT!!! I am so excited. It's a 5k with 24 tough and muddy obstacles to conquer. There are walls to scale, fire pits to jump, logs to hop, ropes to climb, mud pits, nets... I am so freaking excited!!! What a HUGE NSV for me!!! Just the fact that I signed up and am ready to go for it tells me how far I've come in my confidence within myself physically and that's thrilling. The fact that my two girls (they will be 14 and 16 when the race comes) are doing it with me makes me giddy. What a wonderful memory this will make for us. I'm hoping hubby joins in, too!! My goal is to get within five pounds of goal by the time the event is here. The obstacles are pretty team oriented and there is always someone there to give you a hand up (or a push up if they are behind you) and it's about having fun more so than it is competitive. I think it would be much easier for someone to give my 150 pound ass up a 12 foot wall than where I am right now. And if I don't need help? EVEN BETTER!!!! www.ruggedmaniac.com If you want to check out pics!!

    NSV...for me :)

We had a big BBQ and usually I can eat as much as 3 grown men. I kid you not! But this is the first holiday I've had the band and I only ate 2 ribs and a serving of greenbeans. I was so full! It felt great eating like a normal person!

    NSV...for me :)

Congrats on your NSV! I can't wait for my first cookout! Hopefully I can eat on my birthday that is on Aug 2nd. I am 4 days out from being banded and hopefully I can have some of my birthday cake! lol
  19. futurelookinghealthy

    I look like a slob!

Congrats! I think 30 lbs. is wonderful. I've been banded since Sept. 2nd and I've only lost 29lbs. I did just get my 3rd fill last Wednesday and I think that I may have actually hit the jackpot this time, as I'm feeling very restricted, so much so, I seem to get stuck (lightyly) every meal. I know what you mean about the jeans coming off without even undoing them, when that happened to me I was so excited. I have 2 piles - (1) things that are too big and (2) things I can't wait to get back into from years ago, specifically skinny jeans. LOL Good Luck to future NSV's.

It Keeps Getting Better And Better

Two weeks ago I had a good NSV by fitting into a 18 size skinny jeans thinking they wouldnt fit and did. This week a new middle number has been recorded. On my way to a 60 pound lost. Feeling better that I can ever remember when I weighed this much over 20 years ago. I'm so motivated right now and can only pray this continues. Have a good week all!!!

    NSV!

People who have never been large have no idea how great this NSV is! When it happened to me recently, my niece and nephew (2 years old twins) couldn't understand why I couldn't stop smiling. One of my favorite NSVs and I'm really happy for you. Ellen

    NSV!

Today I went out to lunch with my daughter and for the first time in years, I sat in a booth. I fit!!! HW 285 SW 266 CW 254 sleeved 11/18
  25. I've seen you guys post about NSV's and it took me a bit to figure out what this was, but I had my first one today. A little bitter sweet, but that's okay... I'm 14 days post op and had to go to the Dr. today. I have bronchitis and feel pretty rough, but while I was sitting in the Dr.'s office, very miserable and could not get comfortable, I crossed my legs without even thinking about it. This is the first time I have been able to do this in about 15 years. Woot, woot! Now, if I can just start feeling better and get back to walking.
