Hi everyone  Chim, glad you've finally got your first fill and it's working in your favor so far. YAY! :whoo: I got my second today. My doc told me at my first fill that it might take another one or two to find my sweet spot. I haven't been ravenously hungry, but I've been able to eat more than I should have and not lost any weight in two weeks. But the good news is I haven't gained either! So now I have 2.5cc in my 4cc band and am assured I'll definitely feel the restriction. I'm looking forward to it. There are times when I miss eating and sharing different foods with my family, but I sure don't miss the insatiable hunger and over-eating. I also managed another NSV this week. I went for a check-up with my GP for Insulin Resistance. I had blood drawn and tested for free testosterone and insulin levels. The results came back good! I'm doing better now than I've ever done on the medication I used to get those levels under control. So good in fact I'm NORMAL!!! It's been a good number of years since anyone's told me I'm normal.

None of my fills have hurt and he doesn't numb me or use a fluroscope. He just has me keep my legs out straight lying down and raise them slightly to tighten the stomach muscles and it is easy to see where to stick the needle. No pain! Kathy, thanks for asking about NSV, pretty sure it meant a new good thing, but didn't know what it stood for. Tried to post from airport on Sunday, but lost it and didn't feel like typing again. Wanted to tell you what my dr said when i asked him why we panic so when we pb. I mean it isn't blocking the airway, so why do we sweat, get flushed, have saliva pouring out, nose running, get panicky, etc. etc. He said that it is because of all the main nerves running behind the esophagus. I remember that my mother had a hysterectomy for cancer and then they stuck their hands in to remove the tumor that was on the intestines and her heartrate would skyrocket. When they pulled back out, everything was normal. It was the Vaga (sp?) nerve that runs up the esophagus to the stomach.

NSV - I need new clothes!

Lauren, That's terrific. I totally understand the buying all you can find that fits...At 6ft tall, I have the same problem (just different!!! ). What a great NSV...Happy for you! Lorraine
4. This has been my first real NSV since surgery. Well, a couple of weeks after surgery, a couple of people said that they could see that my face was thinner, but that doesn't really count because they knew I had surgery. Anyway, I noticed today that I could pull my pants down without unzipping them (unbuttoned but not unzipped) and that my shirt was baggier than I remember it being. So I guess I need new clothes! It's a good thing that the last time I found pants that I liked, I bought three different sizes of them (when you're 5'3" and fat, and find something you like that fits well, you get several because you'll never find them again if you go back to look).

I AM SOOOOO JEALOUS!!! I want one now!!!! I've been wanting one for a while, but I have others things I have to buy first...you lucky duck!!! Marcy, first, congrats on reaching 238!!! That is wonderful! As for what you mentioned above, I think you're talking about sliming and not PBing. Neither one is fun, though. Appleblossom, I am loving the fall colors/theme you've got going on w/your posts! Citygirl, I'm sorry about your fill drama. I go tomorrow for my first fill and I hope it is pretty uneventful. I'll let ya'll know how it goes. Chris, YAY!! You got your fill. My first is tomorrow. And look at all those NSVs!!! Congratulations. Sorry about the bill. That bites, but I'm sure you'll be able to appeal it and win.

Question... what is NSV? Is that someone's name or is it a short form for something... I'm clueless!

I don't get the squirrel picture posted by Stef. ("You are awesome if you get this picture"). BUT, I just LOVED the one (for Insub's NSV, I think) with Ricky Gervais that said "You are awesome!" He TOTALLY cracks me up! ~Toni

Hey everyone!! Hope you are all doing great. SOunds like there are quite a few NSV. Congrats!!! Doesn't it feel great to move on to SMALLER clothes and exspecially when they are clothes you couldn't fit before!!!!!!! I dont care much for shopping for clothes because I don't like a lot of the new styles but I love being able to drag out a 'new' box of my 'someday I hope to fit into these' clothes. I have a question. I can't remember who mentioned the medication but my question is this. I was told to crush my pills and take them in apple sauce or something and if I can get something in liquid to do that. Does anyone else do this? Just wondered. I am afraid of getting a pill stuck if I try to just take them so I will continue to crush even though that is one taste I will NEVER get used to. LOL The NSAIDS (ibuprofen, advil and etc.) I too was told absolutely NO NSAIDS. I was told tylenol and things with no ibuprofen in them. I was also told that they do not know for SURE but that there was a possibility of it being linked to erosion with the band.

Depending on who you ask... I had an NSV today. I needed new bras and was going to treat myself to some cute Victoria's Secret bras since I am now of a size that can be bought in that store..36 DD!! Down from 40 DDD..(like I said.. NSV depending on who you ask.. the fiance isnt extremely happy that my "girls" have gotten smaller.. but I'm happy).. After coming to my senses about paying $51 for a bra.. I decided to walk around the mall and ended up shopping on the clearance rack at LB.. I got 4 bras for $28!! Twinmommy- Try starting a thread about paying it forward.. if the May girls are unable to use your clothing, I'm sure someone out there most certainly can!

I had a NSV this weekend. We live in Houston....home of the Houston Texans Football Team. Well we had an invite to go tailgating this weekend. My husband has a Texans Jersey, my son has a Texans Jersey. Well my daughter (age 6) and myself did not and we wanted all to represent!!!LOL!! So we stopped at Walmart....the adult womens jersey all they had was a size Small pink Texans Jersey so my daughter go that...it was big but it looked cute on her. They had no mens jersey's so I wan bummed that I was not going to get one. Well we happen to go by the boys section. They had jersey's....My DH said try on the boys XL. I said that is not going to fit.....well to my surprise it did. Perfect...so at the Texans tailgate Sunday I was wearing a little boys Jersey!!! LOL!!! My kids and husband were sooooo tickled....my DH kept saying you look sooooo good! My son said I am sooo jealous...I cant fit those...I had to get a mens!!! LOL Sandra 255h/242s/194c/165g

Well just dropping in to say GOOD MORNING to all before I begin my day NSV - I bought a pair of white linen pants back in Feb - didn't try them on until i got home - well they didn't fit - couldn't even close them - most likely like 2 -3 inches gap between one side and the other - Well guess what i am wearing to work today :):eyebrows:. As to taking pills - I read somewhere on this board - not to take and NAISD (Advil - iburphon sp) etc - as there could be a contection with band erisions... Tylenol only.... and imho - pills vs liquid it's what ever works for you - I have the liquid and think it may work faster. Chris :clap2::clap2: on you NSV :clap2: Citygirl - My doc doesnt have the floruscope (sp) but he numbs you up first - I WOULD NEVER LET a doc stick me without it - it took my doc forever to find the fill spot in my port. ssankofa73 - Exercise - at least you were moving and thats 100% better than sitting on the couch...:clap2: Ruby - :clap2: only one tiny candy bar and not the bag :clap2: Phyl - Are you having a good time??? Didn't get to they gym yesterday as my 3 yr old grandaughter wanted to come to her La La 's house (I'm LaLa instead of GM) (I pick up my 2 gd's 2 or 3 days a week when my DIL is working) So - she and I took the doggies for a walk - so did some in - but it was more important to me to spend the time with them - Memories... Gotta make room for life as tomorrow isn't promised... Have a Great Day !!!!
15. OMG...I cannot cannot cannot WAIT for this NSV...I have always been comfortable Indian style (I don't think it's called that anymore...ooops.)...but I want to cross my legs like a lady...I might start wearing skirts again...I never do because my legs stay open while seated... I hadn't even thought of this as a bonus...Something to look forward to. Right now I am 6ft tall and 285...so I don't know if it will happen any time soon...but I hope so! Rain

Hello All, I got my first fill last week and it went great. 1.8 cc and feels just right. I eat about 1 cup of food per meal. NSVs - Took three large garbage bags of "large" clothes to GoodWill. Got off of that CPAP machine and I have eliminated my blood presssure meds. Feeling great. UNTIL TODAY - I got a bill from the hospital today for $12,849.00 for the surgery. It seems that even after jumping thru hoops from Jan to July and getting a pre-approval letter from Blue Cross Blue Shield they denied my claim anyway. I MAY HAVE TO GET BACK ON MY BLOOD PRESSURE MEDS UNTIL THIS IS RESOLVED. Thanks for allowing me to vent. Kathy - Congrats on the adoption!

I've noticed that since being banded, I've not suffered from daily headaches. I put it down to eating better. Today for some reason I did a bad thing. A very bad thing. I ate one of those mini Almond Joy bars. Wouldn't you know it, I've had a headache most of the afternoon. Now I have the choice of either suffering through it or succumbing to that gawd-awful liquid Tylenol to get rid of it. I guess that's a NSV of sorts. Not a very pleasant one though, lol. Still..... lesson learned! No more choccy! Bad choccy! Choccy make head booboo! :peep: Citygirl sorry to hear about your fill drama. I'm glad you got it sorted out though. I'm really surprised the doc didn't use that fluroscope thingy the first time round. I'd insist on it for every fill from now on if I were you!

Stef... Cheer up:whoo::whoo:...don't be discouraged!!! Even though it's only a little, your weight loss is good. My doc only recommends 8-10lbs a month. If you've been doing that----GREAT!!! If not, remember it didn't come on overnight:cry:cry...so it won't come off overnight. Thank of all of the NSV that you've had. Just wanted to give you some encouragement!!!!!:clap2::clap2:

Had a NSV today (and officially, down 70 lbs!) Went to take my first flying lesson today, and part of the drill is setting the weight and balance for the plane. I tell the instructor I'm at 205 (throwing in clothes etc), and he just kinda stops for a second. He asks me if I'm sure, and I said "yes" (thinking -- damn, I'm still a fatass). He looks again and says "Ok, but I had you pegged at 185" Hurrah!

Jackie--I get it and that's wonderful! Don't you just hate it when the chairs are too close together and you are touching someone else's arm? Thanks for sharing that NSV with us! Yeah

Hello all my fellow bandsters!!! I am just checking in for the night. I wanted to tell everyone congrats on all of your weight loss. We are all doing very very well. I had another NSV last night and I needed to share it with you all because you will understand and my DH just looks at me like I was nuts. LOL Last night we went to the movie Hair Spray. (Excellent show by the way!!!) Anyway in the past when we have gone I have been so uncomfortable because of my size in the chairs and the person next to me, my DH or one of my kids, had to be uncomforatble as well because I always put my arms out on the chair arms to try to be more comfy and in the theatre that means taking their chair arms. I always felt like I was 'spilling over' into their seats. Last night when we went I was really excited but also nervous at the same time because of the past experiences. We went in and sat down and guess what................I HAD LOTS AND LOTS OF ROOM!!!!!!!!!!! I wasn't spilling into anyone elses seat and I could set cross legged while watching the movie. I COULDN'T believe it!!! :faint: I said something to my daughter and she smiled and said that is good and then I said something to my DH and he said 'we were never uncomfortable setting next to you." and looked at me like he had no idea what I was talking about. Maybe he didn't and it was just me self consciously feeling that way. Whatever it was then I don't care because I CAN FIT FINE AND HAVE LOTS OF ROOM IN A MOVIE SEAT!!!! LOL
23. quote=insubordination;571722]

Huge NSV for me. I was so worried about this. I stand by my choice of aisle. Awesome! I wouldn't have tried the tray table either! I look forward to the day I don't have to ask for the extender. I am tired of being embarassed! By the way, what does NSV stand for? April: I have to start my pre-op diet tomorrow. It is low calorie and virtually no carbs. I also have to cut my meal portions in half. I am relieved that it is not a liquid diet! I have done Atkins before so I am familiar with low carb. I was wondering about cheating too but I am going to try my damndest to stay on track. I don't want my doctor to say my liver is too fatty to do the surgery. I am waiting to find out if my insurance will approve in the meantime which doesn't help my stress level. Usually stress makes me eat more not less lol. But I am going to keep coming to these boards and getting the encouragement I need. I count myself very lucky because I don't have to go liquids only! Good luck and know that I am in the same boat with you. Keep posting and we will encourage each other! *Trisha*

Am I too "tight" ? .... 2nd fill yesterday

"Slime" refers to the uncontrollable production of saliva, which usually happens when a piece of food is "Stuck". "Sliming" can also occur as a reaction to eating too much food, or from not chewing food well enough. Sliming can lead to a "PB", or "Productive Burp", which is a small amount of vomit. An NSV is a Non-Scale-Victory, like fitting into smaller clothes.
