    Soy Milk

I tried the 8th Continent Soy milk Light Vanilla flavored...tastes great but as it turns out I am allergic to it. It almost jepordized my surgery. I was adding the soy to my protein shakes to up my protein intake and ended up in the ER with my throat nearly swollen shut.:devious They gave me a dose of prednisone to clear the swelling. I went to see the Doc the day before my surgery was scheduled for to be sure my throat was in good enought shape to handle the anesthesia and was almost denied my surgery due to the weight gain from the prednisone and the mere fact that prednisone is a steriod and compromises your immune system. I was left in the exam room waiting for 40 minutes to hear whether my surgery for the next day was still a go or not. The nurse prectioner came back in to find me a balling mess of tears and snot. :cry She asked me what was wrong and I looked at her as if to shoot her dead in her shoes. :dead I said well, you left me in here for 40 min. not knowing whether or not I am going to have my surgery tomorrow. I have jumped through a lot of hoops to get here -even jumped through a few hoops you guys forgot to tell me about and now here I sit wondering if I just paid for a surgery that I may not get to have. she laughed and said oh honey you're ok. the doc said he will see you tomorrow in the hospital. hugged me and left the room. :speechles all that being said...just be careful if you have a tendancy towards allergies and you are still waiting to be banded.

Hello all...and thank you for all your well wishes! We had the first appointment today... all went well. Still too early to hear the heartbeat (7 weeks... due 4/25). They said I'm in perfect health to deliver at the Birth Center (which is all holistic..run by midwives) She even said I have the BP of a runner!... yeah I'm thinking... you see the size of my rear?? I dont run!! HA! I'm having bouts with nausea and I get tired pretty fast...but I went to my chiropractor and got adjusted and feel 100% better. They also have no worries about the band and pregnancy. They just want me to visit my Dr and have him write up a little note saying that he agrees to treat me as needed if any complications (too much restriction) arise. So far so good... I'm able to eat small meals...and quite alot at times. I still have good restriction but I'm able to eat without any trouble at all.... meats, breads... everything goes down fine. I'm a little tight in the morning with my cereal but I'm able to eat a cup with no problem. And funny thing is... I'm craving proteins! Mostly cheeses. And all of a sudden I hate fish and seafood... something I've always LOVED! Very odd... I didnt weigh in today so I'm not sure where I stand with gain/loss... and honestly... I'm really not worried too much. Dont get me wrong.. I dont want to gain nearly what I gained with my first pregnancy (nearly 80 lbs) but I'm looking to have a normal, healthy weight gain. I'm still walking and just trying to take good care of me and the baby!

Hi all! Been quite a while since I've been on here... Was doing well with the weight loss... Even started running! Then I suffered a back injury... Had surgery 3.5 weeks ago. The back issue lead to depression which lead to more weight gain... And so on.... Hoping the surgery was a success so I can get back on the right track!

TO ALL, You are all right!!! I am a obsessive weigher!!!! LOL!!! I weigh in the morning.....I weigh after work....I weigh before bed!!! I wish I could say I would only weigh ONCE a week....but I would be lying to you guys!!! LOL!!! Lizrbit, I would blame it on that....but I have been sooooo regular that I have a hard time believing it. I usually am not.....so I always blame weight gain on that but this week I deserve a prize for that!!! LOL Laura, I am prepared for water gain....I take a diuretic every night to take care of all that water that I drink!!! Legster and Mini, I know I shouldnt weigh every day but I am crazy and obsessive about everything!!! Maybe I should throw my scales away!! I hav 3 in the house!!! See I told ya I was a little crazy!!! LOL!!! If I did that then I would be at the Walgreens at 8 am weighing on there scales....and at 9 pm!! LOL Sandra 255h/242s/206c/165g

    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

Oh, BG, hugs and hugs and hugs. I really think it is happening to everyone. I think the excitement has worn off and now it is just us and the band. I don't know what to tell you, as I feel the exact same way. If this were just another diet, it would have been shot. I would of had all the weight back on plus some. I guess that is the best part of it. There is no weight gain for you. Love ya dearly....I hope you can see some light at the end of the tunnel......and then share some with me.

Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris

Hey girlies, so glad you remembered me lol xxx. I wouldnt mind Scooby if i had been eating loads, I could deal with the weight gain, but it seems I have to eat hardly anything and not drink much either to lose. I will go for a little fill in August to take me back to near starvation, but I didnty reaLLY FEEL HUNGRY, IT WAS JUsT THE ACID REFLUX THAT CRIPPLED ME. oops sorry about the caps. Then in December I am going to have some taken out again like last year, family says I was starting to look drawn and ill, so maybe I'll be better next time around, I think maybe if I just lose about 21 pounds that will do me. Anyway enough about me, well done hunny on your 4stone loss, its really hard I know when you've got restriction, you have to re-think every mouthful, but hey it works!!!. Sarah well done you on going back to have the repair, I hope you werent charged? I only go to Freddyboy or Chris for my fills, they are both so good, and I trust them both completely. You'll soon be falling down grids lol. Take care of you. xxx Laila, its awful that damn nighttime reflux, but Freddy told me after a small de-fill, that if I left it for a month and then went back and had the bit put back in it would give my oesophagus chance to mend the inflamation, and it was quite correct, so dont despair, or m,aybe just about the money lol. Ask for a reduction, cos its not reqlly fair is it. Chris gave me a reduction to 60 euros when I had the last de-fill. And Freddyboy has even taken some out for free!!. Well girlies, nobody mentioned Jo Jo so I guess I have to wait till she replies. speak soon xxx

Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris

Thanks Odgemodge and Shoes for your encouragement. Having a weird time getting my head round things. I don't think it's regrets coz I'm really excited about my life ahead, I just know it can only get better as I lose weight, gain a bit more confidence and stop despising myself as much. I'm finding I keep bursting into tears for no reason  and i got hauled in front of the bosses today for losing my rag and cursing at another worker. I'm so emotional just now but hopefully it will pass, 30th June seems like a lifetime away. I'm like a shark during a feeding frenzy just now aswell, I think I'm eating all food the for the next year in a week, I'm a chef, so food is all around, ooh that was a Troggs/ Wet, Wet, Wet song wasn't it :w00t:
  9. Your weight gain will probably turn out to be fluid, because to have such serious medical issues you could very well have been de hydrated so it wont be fat, keep up the good work, water aerobics sound good, I even gain weight/fluid when I go swimming I know it sounds strange but my skin absorbs water, if I weigh before a bath and straight away after, with nothing to eat or drink in between I can gain 3lbs easily but its only fluid and temporary and is gone by the next morning. Happy days

Thank you very much Freckles, and well done on the not smoking. I had always struggled to give up but cut down t 3 a day when treatment started and havent smoked since we found out I was Pregnant. Hello everyone else well done scooby on your 6 stone xx Im gonna have to start moving my weight loss ticker the other way, put on 10lb since defill 4 weeks ago . it has levelled out in last few days thank god so must be fully re hydrated now. Seeing midwife tomorrownfor first ante natal so dont want to start being lectured for weight gain! Take care all xx
  11. So, should all surgeries be covered? There have to be some guidelines. And, I am with those who think it it stupid to intentionally gain weight. So sue me. OP, that said, are you off the meds that caused the initial weight gain? And what does your doc say about that link, the potential for loss, and your illness? If you can't lose while on the meds how will that change if you continue to take them? I know that if I was on meds that caused weight gain, as I have been, that I could not quit eating even with a surgery, kwim? I'd have found a way to cheat the system.

    The Spring Fever Challenge

Joan, this morning i was still steaming over the weight gain but because of you and your motivation i got out of bed and went to the gym !!! I felt sooo much better and my inches are down ( i take my inches every sunday morning) so thank you all for the support here !!!! Amy
  13. Having suffered with depression since I was 15, I can safely say this is why you have stalled. Also some of your medications may have an impact on that. When depressed, your body only knows you are ill, and will cope and try to help you by slowing your metabolism. This usually results in weight gain but because you had surgery, is instead, storing your calories. Enjoy what you have lost thus far and when your mood lightens, and it will, the weight will come off!!

    OCTOBER SLEEVERS CHECK IN HERE

I had my 1 year check up a month late. I was 285 at my highest weight, 261 pre-surgery. I now weigh 183. I have only lost 10 pounds in the past 6 months. I stopped focusing on losing weight and just tried to maintain weight. I have been fighting cancer the past 6 months and that has been my focus. I am happy with how I have done as my cancer meds cause weight gain. My battle with cancer will never be over but I am at a place where I feel I can focus on my weight but will admit I could be happy at this weight. My goal is to lose another 15 pounds and settle for weighing around 165 pounds. Let’s not give up the fight. I feel so much better with the weight off.

    February Bandsters?

i just had a look. as far as the calories are concerned its not too bad. im a red wine drinker, its going to hurt me to have to give up my red wine. i do like a drink to relax especially when out. what alcohol has the least calories? does anyone know?? perhaps i could have the odd drink of something other than red wine. it seems that the red wine has given me more problems with my blood pressure and it certainly has contributed to my weight gain, thats for sure. i just dont think its entirely realistic to go without having an alcoholic drink socially. what do others think?
  16. I've had same problems. Always having band deflated and refilled until major problems occurred. Could not swallow , massive gerd, reflux. Regurgitation to name a few Band has been deflated for six months and experienced 35 lb weight gain. Revising to RNY.
  17. So I'm at the doctor...They say I've gained 8 pounds during week 3 and 4! I count my calories and average about 700 / day. I'm not terribly worried but would like any input on how anyone thinks this is possible lol Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
  18. Diane, so sorry about the shoulder and the weight gain. please dont let it get to you, it sounds like you are on the right path again, you can do this! i can relate about using vacation for surgeries. it sucks so bad, i will be using a week of vc if they dont approve the FMLA (doubt they will since i am almost positive it will be considered 'cosmetic') and i will be back to work 9 days after my tuck. that is starting to scare me. if you want a vacation, how about a long weekend somewhere? C
  19. Weight and Lapband restriction. My weight still hasn't come down from surgery and I'm continuing to hover around the 10 pounds heavier than my pre-tummy tuck weight. I wanted to believe it was all or mostly from the post surgery swelling but 5 months out it is hard to not face the reality that I have actually gained some weight. If I had to hazard a guess I'd say it was probably 75-80% weight gain vs water weight from the swelling. I don't have any one to blame for this but myself. Yes I had a large unfill pre-surgery and yes 2 fill later I'm still struggling with what feels like no restriction and some extreme hunger issues. But just like pre-band it is still my hand putting the food to my mouth. Not to mention the poor food choices and lack of anything that can really be called exercise.

    Was It Worth It?

I spent the better part of 40 years losing weight. I didn't have much trouble losing, but the same problems that caused the weight gain in the first place kept putting it back on. Finally my new doctor said my weight was causing serious health problems (diabetes, sleep apnea.etc.) and I was going to have to lose weight and keep it off. He suggested a Center of Excellence and band surgery, that was in September. I've lost about 60 lbs and still going. I haven't had this much energy in 30 years, I've rebuilt our kitchen, family room, planted a new lawn (1/2 acre) and no end in sight. These are things I've put off for years because I just didn't feel like it. If you can find the dedication to restrict your diet (with the help of the band) for a year, you can lose up to 100 lbs. This takes work on your part, the band makes it easier, but it will still take a lot of effort. Where will you be next year if you don't do it? Find a good program, educate yourself on lapband surgery, and if you do your part, you'll loose as much weight as you want and feel better than you have in years. I hope you find everything you're looking for.
  21. Awesome thank you !! My email address is tabs1257@gmail.com I really appreciate it. I'm have spent so much money on different tests. My cholesterol levels are good and no sleep apnea. I'm just so worried because I don't have a severe comobibtity. I have arthritis, degenerative disc disease ( had surgery to fuse my c5-c6-c7 in my neck ) severe migraines due to that, dvt and varicose veins that requires vein stripping surgery....again ( Dr wrote in a recent statement that it is due to weight gain.) I had gallbladder surgery too. My bmi is only 36 Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

    September's Chat

Morning All... Eileen... Wow... You really have had a plate full of family scares! I'm so sorry about your neice and I pray that they will decide to go ahead with her surgery sooner if for no other reason than to spare her more pain. In regards to th thyroid... they are trying to kill it off... the radioactive iodin is only absorbed by the thyroid gland and I will have to take thyroid hormone replacement for the rest of my life. THe pros... no surgery and the risks that go along with that... the cons... it is a more gradual process than surgery and I will have to be careful the first few days so that I don't kill anyone elses thyroid...lol. The nice thing will be losing that feeling of fullness/choking in my throat. Betty... I wish I did live closer to you... I think we should all pick a town and relocate there...lol. Don't worry... I am not in the mood to have a doctor cut my throat...bring on the glowing pill! Congrats on the raise! Sherry... Glad you had fun at the fair! It's amazing to see the difference in what can be shoved sown the ole gullet once you have restriction isn't it! Not sure when they will give me the trtmt... they are to call me on Monday and set it up. Cindy... Hope to see your friend here posting soon... the more the merrier! SOunds like you will busy this weekend! I colored my hair a week or so ago... got tired of the highlighted look...guess I'm ready for winter! Dianne... Hope Lucy is feeling better and LMAO on the Mushroom Head comment... hehehehehe... I wonder if they teach them to do that in beauty school???? MAybe is is because they practice on too many lil blue haired women in beauty school? Mary...Glad you are feeling better... I hope your weight gain is just due to all of the muscle being bulit from the increased exercise! I feel your frustration girl! KAt... You go girl... you are really kicking butt! I know how good it feels to really be exercising regularly! I don't know why I fight it so hard when I feel so much better doing it! I'm proud of you! Boy... you are going to have an awful lot of B-day cake to resist this month! Pat... I think you look beautiful in the picture for operation smile... so there. The wine doesn't look half bad either...hehehehe. Okay... I went to POGO... I'm not a big game player but it has been fun. My name there is DarceeLynnPlyr. Mandy... I'm sorry about your puppy... sounds like this may be why he was at the shelter. Hopefully he will stay safe and be picked up eventually! I may need to get that website addy from you... I'd love to pick some little things up for Christmas presents! Patty... Heck girl... I'm off the wagon more than I'm on. I wish it were different and I know that the band is really working for all that post to this thread... but sometimes it is hard to be the lone failure...lol. THe one good thing is that you can see that the Lapband does work for the majority of people. Hoping that all the legal efforts will make the difference for you finally getting your Band! Anne... crossing my fingers that the scale will pop up with a brand spanking new LOWER number for ya! If I missed anyone... forgive... hope the rest of the weekend is great for everyone!
  23. Diane: Keep us posted! and BTW folks, Diane looks AwESOME!!!!!!! even with her weight gain, she is still a hawtie (we have the same doc, and I just ran into here when I finally had my tiny unfill)
  24. I had my first official weight gain of 3#'s at the doctors office. I haven't done very good at all. I got a .5cc fill and I think I am about to my sweet spot. I rediscovered mashed potatos and it got me a lecture at the doctors office. I think I was rebelling a little because I miss eating some foods. I am afraid I am going to be a little to tight but I am going to hang in there until it loosens up a little. I don't want any taken out because I am afraid of a gain. Hope everyone has a great week.
  25. HB-That video is creepily beautiful lol! Is creepily a word?? Bobbie-Sorry to hear it didn't go quite as you had hoped. When a door shuts a window opens. Me-I really need to vent so sorry..apologizing in advance..and I am not looking for sympathy. I just keep asking myself can I DO THIS?? I have eaten crap, not exercised like I should and I just can't seem to get myself on track. There is no motivation and willpower at the moment and it is honestly breaking my heart. I hate that food is where I turn to. My feelings just make me want to run to ice cream. I used to smoke...that was my escape. Quit that for food. Gained lots and lots of weight (so who knows maybe I would've been healthier a smoker!). I don't deal with stress and anxiety well. There is alot of stress & anxiety in my life right now and I just can't deal with it...and now I am feeling like a failure on top of it :smile2:. I have an appt with my PCP, but soonest I could get in on an evening is the 22nd. I don't know if there is anything he can give me for anxiety/depression that doesn't have weight gain as a side effect. Also seeing him because it seems my exercise induced asthma is in full swing again (which is not helping with the whole weight loss thing). GRRRR....Isn't there just a skinny/happy/life is perfect pill??
