    Nsv

I have been on vacation in Hawaii this week, today is my last day on the island. I haven't weighed myself for a week. Last time I did I weighed 201lbs. Can't wait to see my current weight when I get home tomorrow. But my NSV is that I went PADDLE BOARDING!!! Something I would have never done!

    My Little Piece of Heaven

    Great NSV...definitely worth celebrating!!!
  4. I saw my mom today for the first time in about 2 weeks and she couldn't stop looking at me and telling me how great look! It made me feel great!
  5. Great NSV. And great storytelling -I want to join your club - and use the men's locker room!
  6. Hi guys and girls It's been a long time since I've posted. Just an update, I was sleeved in Dec 2013 at 264 pounds 5'2. Here it is today knocking at 100 pound loss mark. But more significantly I was able to do THIS the other night! Haven't done this in years!!!!

    First Nsv

A Couple of years ago I bought this really cute bathing suit off season so it was pretty cheap but it was too tight. But since it was so cheap I had to buy it haha. Anyway, I'm going out of town to a friends house and she has a pool so just for giggles I tried the bathing suit on and it fit perfectly! It was even a little loose! Very exciting
  8. @@Djmohr congratulations to you, too! And we can snooze on planes without fear of snoring, phew, that's a big NSV, OMG.
  9. So, I started working at a new location about a month and a half ago and have not lost a single pound while working here. I've kicked up my workouts like crazy! This week all of my coworkers are commenting on how "skinny" I'm getting. Just when I was getting discouraged, I'm realizing it's all paying off!
  10. This month is the five month anniversary of my sleeve surgery. Next week is a big company meeting. I had set a personal goal of achieving 50% weight loss by that date. I will hit that goal or be within a pound of it. My rate of loss has seemed slow to me but after looking at the charts I realize it has been pretty steady with great progress, just a bit slower than I'd anticipated. So far I've been very pleased with every aspect of this journey. Here are a few of my victories and observations post surgery. Victories: Weight loss - 55 pounds - halfway to goal Clothing sizes - Went from (men's) size 46 slacks to 40, size 19 shirts to 17 1/2, size 4xl t-shirts to 2xl sleep apnea - Gone Type 2 diabetes - Gone Joint aches, pains and stiffness - Gone High blood pressure - went from 2 meds to 1, and only half the dose of that one Other NSV's: Airplanes - went from almost needing a seat belt extender to being able to put the tray table down all the way Travel - can now sleep in most any hotel bed without needing the mattress and pillows to be 'just right' Stairs - I used to be winded at the top of a flight of stairs, but can bound up them now with no issues. Exercise - much easier now and I have more stamina. Some observations: Stalls - I've found that I stall easily and really need to watch my program closely. Diet - It's a tight balance - too few calories and I stall. Too many and I stall. Hunger - I never realized how much of my problem was "head hunger" or bored snacking until the real hunger went away. Snacking - is an insidious enemy and can derail progress without you knowing it. You have to account for everything you eat. Alcohol - I can have a drink or two without problem, but it does stop my loss for a couple of days. Better save it for maintenance. I lost weight rapidly for the first couple of months but have noticed now I've settled into a fairly steady rate of loss of around 2 pounds per week. I'm fine with this rate as long as I can keep it going. Over time it will require more exercise to maintain but at this rate I should hit my goal weight at about my one year surgery anniversary. That is now my new goal.

    Nsv Moment

Congrats, what an awesome NSV!! Thanks for sharing, and it won't be long til the Large will work just fine.
  13. Since I work in the medical field and I am looking for a new job I went to try on some new work scrubs today. Last year before I had my surgery I was wearing a 5X top and a 4X pants. Today when I went to try one some new ones I am sown to an XL pant and top. I think I could get into the L but it would be a little snug sitting down and do not want my junk showing. I have already given most of my old clothes to the homeless shelter here in Des Moines. Feels great.
  14. In a former chapter of my life, I purchased a nice selection of very nice lingerie. Naturally, once I did this, I immediately gained all the weight back I had lost (it seems like it only took 5 minutes). I packed my niceties away for another day. THE OTHER DAY IS HERE! So I can wear my lovelies once again!!! NO more granny pants!! Here's more NSVs: Shoes fit better, men pay attention to me, women pay attention to me. I can sit in any chair, I flew on an airplane and was actually comfortable, can sit in a restaraunt booth, me knees don't hurt, my 3x belt is too large, I have met really wonderful people through this forum. For those contemplating this surgery or feeling a little scared, please know this has changed my life for the better. Is it easy? Some days are easier than other, mainly because I cannot leave the house without planning my meals and Snacks. But other than that,no problems. I'm done...thanks for listening. XXX Fit

8 Weeks Out - Slow Scale Movement!

I know it's hard, but you need to stop comparing to others & just compare you to you. Look at how far you've come. I'm 5 weeks out now & have lost 19.6 lbs since surgery (32.2 lbs in 7 weeks with pre-op). I have never before lost that much in 5 or 7 weeks!! I've also lost 15+ inches (haven't measured for this week yet). I also focus on all my non-scale victories. There are so many things I'm enjoying more now that I was 30 lbs ago! If you check out my blog - http://mygastricsleevelife.blogspot.com/ - you can check out a post I did about "my new four-letter word 'compare'" & other posts about NSVs & the scale. I'm sure you get a workout with your kids & are more active than you think too! Please just focus on your own successes! I'm not saying you can't be supportive to others, but don't make other people's successes get you down!! You have your own successes to rejoice in!
  17. One of my first NSVs (this one was actually before I had my surgery) was the ability to tie my shoes. I'm embarrassed to admit this, but at my highest weight, I could not tie my shoes while they were on my feet. If a shoe became untied, I had to take it off my foot, pick it up, tie it (loosely enough that I could slip it back on my foot), put it back down on the floor, and slip my foot back into it. And of course I didn't want anyone to see me doing that, so I would walk around with my shoe untied until I could find a spot out of anyone's view. I was so thrilled when I realized that I can just bend down and tie my shoes now! I've been able to do this for months, but I still smile to myself every time I tie my shoes.
  18. Good evening! I love baths - so relaxing and feeling wonderful. my bod is shrinking and i’m more submerged in the tub. Baths are getting better lol. What strange way do you notice your bod shrinking? Another one for me is my seatbelt doesn’t strangle me any more lol. Down 53lbs in just under 3 months. Let’s gooooooo people!!!
  19. Hi all, I had my 1 week post op visit today and my Doctor said, "let's go ahead and start you on mushies!" I am SHOCKED! I don't feel ready. I told him that when I drink my chest gets tight. He said that is perfectly normal and will go away, maybe in 6 weeks or less. He said our stomach is actually much higher up than most people think and it is still feeling the trauma. This is the thing, it seems like mushies after only 1 week post op is sooner than I would have thought. Is this normal for everyone else? All these surgeons all have such different guidelines. I think I am just going to give myself a few more days of full liquids and then start mushies. THe good news is, I lost 10 lbs. since the surgery and I am down 22 lbs. TOTAL!!! ALso, for a NSV my wedding ring fell right off my finger! Crazy! Does anyone else have or had tight chest issues for awhile? Good luck to all! Tracy

    Nsv For Me!

Love it!! It's so amazing how these little things can go unnoticed until all of a sudden you're like holy crap? That's something I've never done?! I have to climb a long flight of stairs to get to my office at work and 8 months ago I would be sweating ad soooooo out of breath by the time I got up there. Now it's a breeze and I'm not out of breath. I'm loving all my little nsv's. I love hearing everyone's.
  21. Today has been the first nice day outside since my surgery in November. Before I knew it was that freakin nice out I had done 30 minutes free step on my WII and 20 minutes of just dance. Then we left to go out a lunch/dinner at a Hawaiian restaurant and I could not believe how FANTABLOUS it was out. I actually spent more time at the restaurant thinking about coming home and taking the dogs for a walk! So when we got home I took them and we walked farther than any time every in the last 4 years of living here, then I brought them home and decided that the yard needed to be picked up, so I put on my tennis shoes AND walked to Walgreens about 4 blocks away to by yard waste bags, carried them back the 4 blocks and picked up all the leaves and sticks in the yard, and THEN yes there is a THEN I put out the solar lights around the flower bed and walk ways! I still have energy to spare, no back pain, no sciatica, my hips are not screaming and I am PSYCHED!

    Running NSV!

8 weeks ago I was 1 month post op and decided to start the C25K program to help boost the weight loss efforts. I started out running at 30 second intervals and felt like I was going to D.I.E and could barely breathe... I almost quit. But I didn't...and I am so glad. Today I packed my kids in the buggy and ran 2 miles without stopping...30 full minutes. I didn't run fast, but I RAN. I've signed up for 2 5k runs in September/October and now I KNOW I can make that 3.1 miles. I love my lapband!

    This is the point...

Wow! That is absolutely fantastic! Congratulations on your new NSV!
  24. NSV are everywhere here - those are THE best. Like getting on a rollercoaster and not being squeezed in, getting up off the floor (without help) & clipping your own toenails! I just moved (somewhat) and I am throwing away my clothes that are starting to look a little big
