  1. Thanks for sharing! My story is so similar to yours. I was scared to face my surgeon bc I thought I had failed. By the time I went back, my surgeon had been retired for years. I started off with a new one making aggressive folks and it worked. Unfortunately one two many times of throwing up bc of crazy restriction and I had a major slip. The bad was removed immediately. I thought I could do it by myself but eating just what doesn’t get stuck in the Band doesn’t translate to real life, sustainable eating. I gained it back this last year. I was sleeved on 10/22-almost 1 year exactly from my band removal.

    Non Scale Victories

Bow ties are cool!!! I just had a size 10 dress zip up on me. Still a little snug and will need some shape wear for the belly but holy hell it zipped. It’s for a wedding in January. The second look my Mr gave me was hysterical when I asked him if it looked okay to be his arm candy. All needed because the scale I swear is stuck at 200.8-201.8... still

    November 2018 Sleevers!?!?

Update: My family took to me to the ER on Saturday and after running X-Rays, CT-Scans and lots of blood work and cultures, they found that there was extreme inflammation of my colon and determined that I had contracted C. Diff (Clostridium difficile). They believe the antibiotic that was given to me during pre-op altered the balance of the good bacterial in my gut, thus allowing C. Diff to multiply and make me ill. This is not common. Took awhile to find the right balance and dose of pain medicine to manage my pain, they put me on a lot of fluids (and potassium) as well as started treatment for the C. Diff. The first round of treatment is 10-days of antibiotics and being quarantined. They kept me in the hospital for five days and began my treatment on the 2nd day once the cultures came back positive. I was kept on clear liquids only for the three days in the hospital and then they allowed me to progress to the Bariatric High Protein Liquid. My dietician was awesome and brought me all the protein supplements and such to keep me going while in the hospital. I am home now, yet still quarantined. A lot involved with that (including a lot of bleach). I'm staying on track with my post-op diet and today will be the first day that I'll actually reach my liquid and protein goals (which is exciting). I'm not allowed in the kitchen so I am relying on others to make my food. So far so good - but like someone else posted, I am getting tired of all the sweets. Please pray that this initial round of treatment will work and that there will be no need for a round two. The doctor told me that it's a much more intense treatment and lasts for 30-days. Yikes. I weighed myself today and the scale shows that I'm down 7-lbs from surgery date of 11/7/18. I'm happy with that loss considering everything. I can't help but wonder if next week will be a bigger loss once I get all these fluids from the hospital out of me. Seven days admitted in the hospital total - that's a lot of fluids! Unjury Chicken Soup Protein Powder - I lived off that while in the hospital. I really enjoyed it and had no issues with it. They key is to make sure the temperature of your liquid is no hotter than 140-degrees. I use a thermometer and then found that from boiling to sitting, that's about 5 minutes for 1 cup of water. As long as your not gulping and sipping slowly you should be fine. I actually use baby spoons to help me take small bites. I hope that helps, because that is my favorite protein supplement that is on the savory side. That's all for now. Going to take a nap and try and recover from this infection!

How long did you wait before dating again?

I'm not single, but I would say that by 6 months out your eating should be mostly stabilized, and you should be able to buy some nicer clothes you can wear on your dates (without worrying about them being too big on you very shortly). As for drinking, I drank my face off last weekend, and it went about the same as it would have prior to the surgery (with the added bonus that I had a lot more energy and wasn't yawning by 10 pm).

    July Gastric Bypass?

I had my RNY on 7/10/18. have lost 55 lbs so far. But I have noticed that because I have no restrictions, except apples, I can eat about anything. I get backed up. So I gain 1-2 lbs and than bam. Lost 3. This fluctuation and stalls get so depressing sometimes. But I move forward and look for those BAM!!! moments. I do not regret my new pouch. In fact I enjoy having more time to do crafts and not looking in the cupboard for food and snacks all the time. Great job to all those July surgery peeps. Great weight loss.!!!

You are not alone. I had my surgery on 10/26 and I am having the same issues. I feel like a volcano and I have been on Dexilant (anti heartburn medication) for years and its not working now.

    600 pound life!

It's definitely sad because 9 times out of 10 these people report abuse or neglect of some sort as a child. Sexual abuse, emotional, horrible things. Food becomes a coping mechanism then an addiction just as easily as someone getting hooked on opiods or whatever else. The gnarly part is everyone needs food to survive so you have 24/7 access to you what fuels your addiction. It's not like you have to meet a shady dude in a dark alley for a sack of quarter pounders and Snicker's bars. The even sadder part being the "friends" and family members that enable these folks with food addictions or they foster the others' addictions due to their own messed up issues and selfish agendas. That show is definitely real....mostly real sad. Positive side is there are plenty on the show who have successfully beat their addictions, removed the toxic people from their lives, bettered themselves and got healthier. The success rate is low, but it does exist. I just use the show as a reminder of how bad things can get, why they get that way, and how to avoid it

  13. Morning folks. Sorry - gone all day with my 6month check-ups! Good news is that I have another 6 months under my belt of "dating NED" and am good for another 6months. Yippee! Interesting news is that I have to wear an "event monitor" to see why I'm having skipped beats, and we're trying to figure out how to get rid of my last bp med. More scary news...we went to a new restaurant for lunch yesterday and I split a cup of chili and burger balls and came home, fell asleep, and woke with a 36bg! I have my first reactive hypoglycemia attack and it was so so so scary. Sweating profusely, heart racing and skipping, shaking so much I could barely navigate or use my arms/hands, could barely coordinate a thought to speak. And had to forceably make myself go get a can of pineapple juice (only juice in the house) that I keep for making a marinade and some unsweetened applesauce to try to get my bg back up to normal. I was successful in doing that (thank you God). But holy whackadoodle! It was scary larry for a while. Also before saying BS, you'd be dead at 36bg, we use a Fora brand bg meter which I "think" may read low by 10-15points from bgs measured with drawn blood. But it was still very dangerously low, I'd say at least in the mid-40s to low 50s judging on how discombobulated I was and how bad I felt the rest of the day. I also got my fasting insulin back and it's awesome! It went down from 14 to 2!!! So my IR is in remission right now it looks like! IF appears to really be working metabollically for me. My bg this morning was 76. I am planning on doing an 18-6 today but will watch it. @GreenTealael so MAN! I can relate to your posts now about your RH or dumping. I think it may be very similar? How are all of you doing?

    Weightloss

Depending on your size, you can lose a lot in 13 days, how much does your surgeon want you to lose? I understand the need to shrink the liver but my surgeon asked me to lose 10-15lbs. in the six months preceding surgery, which was minimal and easy to do. He did not require a liver shrink diet, just two days of clears to clean out the stomach. This was very hard, but it's two days, you can do anything for two days. He said my liver was a little large but nothing he couldn't work with. This requirement of weight loss prior to surgery bothers me a bit because it keeps the people who struggle the most and need the surgery the most from getting the help they need.

    TOO SOON FOR FILL?

Hi ladies, my two cents: I have had my band for 10 years and never noticed any difference when traveling, and I travel often.
  18. Hi everyone. My name is Stacy, I am 34 years old and I was just approved for surgery on November 5th. My date is January 2, 2019. This was my third time trying for surgery. The first time I weighed 427 lbs. I barely lost any weight during my 6 months doctor supervised visits so I was denied. Discouraged but determined to show them I could do it, I counted calories and excised and went from 427 down to 202 lbs. The irony was the "healthier" i became, the sicker I got. I dealt with continual heart issues giving me symptoms of heart attacks without the blockages... one attack happened while on the treadmill and landed me in the hospital for 2 weeks. I continued my diet and exercise until the final episode landed me in the hospital yet again and they finally found out/assumed my arteries were constricting from stress...which was probably from all the missed work... and they put me on medicine. My gallbladder decided to check out at this point... but not before going out with a bang--I was in the hospital another 2 weeks because my pancreas and liver were inflamed... after the gallbladder removal the weight loss got harder and the pounds started packing on. I was afraid to exercise and miss more work--so I started walking. Because I wasn't getting the rush I normally did from exercise my depression came back full force. I slept the day away any chance I got... I'd eat my calories one day, the next hardly touch food, and the following day, I'd eat garbage. My choices were terrible. Terrified that I would go back to my old weight I tried a second time for surgery--the entire process I battled depression and diets--trying to find what would work and give me the success calorie counting did. Instead I gained--at this point I was denied a 2nd time. My weight, 350 lbs. Something happened where I made the decision to buckle down... and from October of last year (when I was denied) until March of this year, I lost 15 lbs. I worked hard to see the scale move. It wasn't until April that I read about low carb--most of the foods I couldn't eat anyways because they made me sick--like bread and sugars--so I went for it. When my doctor saw my progress she said--whatever you're doing is working! Try one more time--I think you'd get it! I had no faith in being approved and I said if I was denied again, I'd stop...and take it as a sign. Since starting low carb I've lost an additional 58 lbs for a total of 73. I have my appointment with my dietitian on December 5th, pre-op appointment is December 12th and Upper GI is December 19th. This is also the same day I start my 2 week pre-op liver shrink diet. I do have some before and current pictures in my gallery and what I look like currently... I am having anxiety about it all... and a lot of people are saying I don't need it done... I look fine... I kinda wish I would have taken the route where I didn't say anything to anyone. Thanks for reading ❤️

    November 2018 Sleevers!?!?

Thanks guys! This is Smurf's wife. They wheeled him back at 10 after 7 and he was discharged to come home before 11:45am! The doc said he did great! He's got some upper back pain (he said it feels like he needs to crack his back, but can't), incisions are tender, and he can't stop belching, but otherwise he's good. I stuck some pictures out on his instagram (chunky2hunkysmurf 😂🤣) For him to get discharged he had to walk twice down the long hallway, drink 8 - 2oz things of water, be able to pee, and have a pain level of less than 5 (out of 10). Be sure you bring a thin pillow to put between you and the seatbelt on the way home!

Post op pain - be honest

This is Smurf's wife... they wheeled him back at 10 after 7 this morning, and he was discharged before 11:45am. He has some pretty bad upper back pain. He said it feels like he needs to crack his back, but can't. Walking and hydrocodone helped. LOL (When I asked if he had buyer's remorse he said, "yes, i'd rather just stay fat!") The incision sites are a little tender, and LOTS of belching, but otherwise i think he's okay. If I had to guess he'll be feeling more like himself in 2 or 3 days max.

    November Bypassers!!

Surgery yesterday and doing better today. Last night sucked. Couldn’t sleep at all. I think I slept for an hour then no more then 5-10 minutes. Every time I’d fall asleep my o2 levels dropped and the alarm would jolt me awake. Barium swallow this morning showed no issues so reward is ice chips - so good after going 36 hours nothing to drink. Bring petroleum free chap stick! Life saver those hours. Good luck to future November bypassers!
  22. I was sleeved and had my hernia repair on sept 19. So im about 7 weeks out. Started at 180lbs. Now at 139. I was admitted to the hospital for dehydration. After an X-ray with barium showed my swallowing is normal. I was sent home. My surgeon is in Vegas. And I live in Reno. i feel like I can’t swallow. It is so painful. Even just water. I’m so thirsty. But simply can not get it down. When I do, I lay in pain for about an hour. As happy as I am with the results, I can’t live like this. Why does it hurt so bad? I did liquid diet. Tried to move to soft foods. And everything just hurts. I use gas x. Heartburn meds on occasion. Just to see if anything will help this feeling. Is anyone else struggling like me? What did you do? How long did it take for you?

  24. 💩-amentary here. Tried to cutting back to 1 Miralax daily, if your team says 2, do 2. This Am I awoke to flatus, of such a degree Tomkitten said" What was THAT sound?" Silly rabbitt🐰you should know by now So I marched into the Chamber of the Porcelain throne there to await occurrences. Such occurrences were not forthcoming, oh I tried, I said "Rectal muscles- Wakey Wakey!" They yawned out 1 puff of foetus and there I set and set. Oh I could feel the stool sitting right inside the opening. If it had a face , it would haven been smirking. No fleet enema , I was sent a mental message - Colin responded with Message unaccepted- please rephrase and resend! So i, and I shudder to relate this, greased the opening with Vaseline and then summoned all abdominal muscles not busy doing something else, 1-2-3- PUSH PUSH PUSH, And Finally it popped and plopped, a little more vigorous shoving and relief was obtained . But back to the 2 times daily, M.O.M. evening of second day, I might as well resign myself to the fact I shall not have spontaeous 💩for a long time. And I am a 10 week old RnY with structure issues, and a puny liquid diet. By far NOT average, average is as close to inferior as it is to superior, and I fancy myself as superior, worthy of glory , praise and wonderment. Too many years of second string, second-rate, some man's slave/flunky/wife. Now Frustr8 shines clearly, brightly and with her own Star Power!🌟Twinkle Twinkle Frustr8's star, can you see me now shining far?
