Ok so someone tells me today that I've lost enought weight because my face looks bad! What? Why would you tell anyone this? Plus my face doesn't look bad! I told her that I liked the way my face looked! Everyone else's tells me how good I look and how much younger I look! Has anyone else had this happen?

The only problem with ensure is that it is made to help people maintain or gain weight that can not. I would go with EAS or whey Protein with less carbs and very little sugar. To me its not a good choice for protein. There are many other Protein drinks out there that are better for weight loss.

Long term overseas travel 4 months post op
Bufflehead replied to Nikkinee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
With respect to item no. 1, you are traveling to areas that tend to eat carb-heavy cuisines (rice and noodles in Japan, rice, lentils, beans in south Asia, rice, corn and beans in Mexico). So, I think you'll have to be committed to avoiding those foods to a great extent and working at getting lots of meat and green veggies. You can get those things anywhere, but you may have to look harder and work harder to get what you need. Are you willing to do that? If so, go for it! You do not need a bunch of frankenfood protein powders and protein bars and special artificially flavored popsicles and cashew milk and whatever. You just need meat and green veggies and to not fall into the easy trap of eating the big scoop of rice that may start appearing whenever you eat out. As far as exercise goes, people in India and Japan and Mexico probably get more exercise than your typical "first worlder"(assuming you are American, Western European, etc, your profile doesn't say). Commit to doing a lot of walking. Figure out how people where you are get exercise and do it. If it doesn't happen, that's not ideal, but exercise really has a minimal impact on weight loss. You can tone up when you get done with your travels (exercise is not going to have an impact on whether or not you end up with loose skin, so if you are worrying about that, put it aside). People notice what we eat a lot less than we think they do. People will be paying attention to their own food, not yours. Certainly don't let potential judgments from other people stop you from doing what you've wanted to do for a long time. Anyone who is rude enough to make a comment on someone else's eating habits is just a jerk, and you can't let jerks control your life. -

Pouch reset I weigh 187 lowest weight was 147. In December It will be 4 years since my surgery. Does the reset work
-
Welcome to the site Many of us have experienced a weight gain. Its great that you have reached out and working on getting it back down. Pouch reset is going back to liquids and progressing back out to real food stage. (It does not shrink your pouch) It may help you feel your restriction a bit. Its one way to help get back to healthy behaviors. Another option is to start at real food stage if you feel reset is too restrictive. Some choose to change diet plans Keto, paleo, vegetarian,IF, whole 30 etc. Only my opinion. Whatever diet you choose, The key is logging your food in an app and staying with in your weight loss calories/macros. Basics: Food plan, exercise, hydrate You know what to do but it may be difficult to get your head back in the game. A few threads on the site that may help. https://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/425354-the-importance-of-doing-the-head-work/?tab=comments#comment-4776743 https://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/428113-🍁-oct-2019-challenge-🍁/?tab=comments#comment-4815439

I got to stop getting On the scale everyday
buplee replied to Dee White's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We have all been there when we are new. We read about people who lost 40lbs in 30 days and we feel like a failure because we only lost 10-20lbs. STOP THE MADNESS AND THINK. You're losing weight and will start to see the pounds melt away over the coming months. Stay encouraged and be happy that you are losing weight at a fast rate. Now, step away from the scale and put it a way for a week. Weighing yourself multiple times a day serves no purpose other than to make you crazy. Your weight will vary with food, Water, bm, time of the day or month for women, and our workout. Good luck on your respective journeys. -

Surgery 1 Week Away!!!
Shmoopy replied to endlessdreams_x's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck!! Hang in there!! I wasn't on a liquid diet before my surgery but I definitely was for the two weeks following it. And it was HARD!! But I"m almost 4 months out of my surgery and I'm doing so well. I only wish the best for you. And just when you think you cannot look at one more drop of protein shake or one more jello cup, or one more popsicle, just know that at some point, you will be able to enjoy (healthy) food again. And continue to LOSE weight. And it will all be worth it. I wish you all the best! -
Surgery 1 Week Away!!!
endlessdreams_x replied to endlessdreams_x's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
GOOD LUCK DAVE! Oh I am through with a little over a week of those liquids. Keep strong, the weight loss and liver shrinking to be eligible for the surgery is way worth it! -
I can't believe it. I'm through one week of liquid diets with one week left to go and on Monday, October 26th I will be banded!!!! I can't believe I've waited this long & got through it! The liquid diet has been so hard, I do crave food, but the weight loss I've had so far is worth it. Fortunately, I do not crave sodas like I thought I would. 13lbs down in just 7 days. 7 more days of it to go, maybe I'll be down even further! I wish everyone on the 26th surgery date luck & hope to see you on the skinnier side -Jamie Love

Confused Re: Foods
BeachBabe replied to samndaisy64's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
White carbs are to an overweight person as alcohol is to an alcoholic. We all struggle to stay away from them but try or you may open Pandora's Box. Lose the weight first and get into good habits before you start eating pasta and bread. -
Highs And Lows Of Weight Loss
Cocoabean replied to highland's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, CONGRATS on regular sizes!! Yay! I fondly remember that day. Reality bites sometimes, doesn't it? I don't wear anything shorter than capris. But my weight was spread all over, so my thighs and upper arms deflated like balloons. I don't wear tank tops either. The running joke in my house is that if my DH makes me mad I will use my bat wings like a whip and he won't know what hit him from across the room! -

Also make sure you do not gain weight from the date of your first weigh in or insurance is likely to deny you. Good luck!! Sent from my XT1080 using the BariatricPal App -
6 Month Post Sleeve Upate (almost) - with pics
Renee0629 replied to Renee0629's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Omg this is so me! Everybody in my life can obviously tell that I've lost a ton of weight, but I still haven't told anyone (and probably never will). I was always on a diet and my weight was always up and down. Everyone just thinks that this recent weight loss is just part of my pattern. When I came back to work on day 5 post surgery and was still on liquids, I just told everyone I was on a cleanse and everyone accepted it because they'd seen me do it 100x! The first 20/25 pounds came off really quickly (first 4 weeks), then it slowed down a bit. It's taken me longer to lose the weight than all the stories I've read, but it hasn't bothered me. Honestly I haven't really had to try to lose weight - I eat healthy but only because it feels better post sleeve. I could eat bread, cupcakes and other crap if I wanted, but I can't eat that much and if I fill up all the space with that junk I can't eat real food and then I just feel sick. Thing is I've always been a healthy eater, just ate to much of it I guess. Problem solved! I'm still worried I'll get fat again and the sleeve won't work long term, but I think that just comes from yo-yoing my entire life. Good luck to you! You'll do great! -
Hello Everyone, I am new to this site so I appreciate your help. I currenly have had the LapBand for a year now. I have had many issues with the Band(Including revision of portal site, intergestion, pain in area, weight gain and vomitting. I am having a new DR remove the lapband next week and I was thinking of then going to get the Sleeve Procedure done. Did anyone decide to make this decision and has any insight for me? Thank you again, Jennifer.

I was surprised that I was dropping sizes faster than what the weight loss was showing. Started at 34 pant and 3x shirt at surgery and now 3 months later in into 18/20 pants and XL shirts. I haven't cleaned out my closet yet but I really need to. I don't buy many clothes at any one time now since they won't be around for long. I still have a long way to go but loving every minute of it.

Is it bad if i drink coffee
Beautyandbeyond replied to carvel23's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Too much caffeine triggers cortisol which causes weight gain. I drink decaf when i really want it. -
Since I started mushies I haven't lost any more weight! This week I'm on regular foods and I'm kind of concerned that I'm not losing. I've been working out at the gym and I'm so close to being back in the 200's I'm 302.2 started pre op diet at 323. I'm just so anxious to hit my first big goal any suggestions on how to get the scale back moving?

Excellent gilda. I was banded just around the same time as you...on the 14th. And I've also lost around the same as you. I am very happy with my weight loss as well and am just hoping I can maintain once I hit goal. -
Questions From Someone Considering Vsg
RickM replied to Finding Myself's topic in Food and Nutrition
Have you had a sleep study done, to see if you have sleep apnea? That could be your ticket to insurance coverage for a sleeve. I was in much the same boat as you - I had adopted the classic healthy lifestyle changes to drop a good part of my weight and maintain it, but couldn't get past a certain point due to the volume issue - good healthy diet except for the portions required for sataity. The sleeve works very well for us relative lightweights (BMI 42 to start here,) and if you already have decent dietary habits, you don't need to make overly radical changes to make the sleeve work - during the loss period you will be emphasizing Protein, but you can keep the remainder of your diet well balanced if that is your desire (it was mine,) rather than going to any special diets like the ultra low carb/ketosis diets that are popular now. Good luck, and welcome to the prospective club! -
oh boy! do i have goal outfits! i've had so many weight loses and gains in the past few years that i have a huge selection of different sizes hidden away in the closet. although i would have to say i bought a goal outfit the other day. it's a cute summer dress (size xl). i can't wait until it fits! i'm so excited!
