Rapid weight loss and body hardware
TattooedSeaStar posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Anyone else out there have permanent equipment in their body? Screws, rods, etc? I had bypass 1/27 and with preop diet and surgery I’ve lost 31# since Dec 26. This morning I woke up and the titanium rod I have in my back was sore- much like when I first got it. It’s been sore all day! I’m going to mention it at my 1 week check up Tues but I thought I’d ask here if anyone has had similar pain. It’s almost like it’s moved and scar tissue hasn’t formed around it ... anyway, just checking.... -
Looking for sleeve buddy 3/31/17 surgery date
jhenrichs replied to Digirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had mine 3/29. I only lost 1.4 pounds last week and .8 this week. I have followed every instruction to a T since surgery and walk 45 minutes to an hour every night and go to the gym 3 times per week for weight lifting and cardio. I could just cry. I list 23 pounds the first month but slow since then. -
I agree. I'm 19 lbs from my goal. The last few weeks have been really slow. It's picked up again so I'm hoping that's a good sign. I'm not even 8 months out yet so I know I have time. I think it's hard to be patient sometimes. Lol. I keep telling myself that I've lost 107 lbs in less than 8 months and that I'm doing great!

I am SOOO depressed
skinnyoneday replied to skinnyoneday's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thanks for your words of advice lady. I have since done a search and found that gaining is not so unusual. I guess I unrealistically expected that the scale would always show a loss. I also finally got a call back from the nutritionist at my surgeon's office who told me I am doing fine and that I just need to be patient. Enigma, I know, I know I have a ridiculous obsession with that darn scale. It whispers my name everyday and in an entranced state I get on it. I need help. LOL. Exercise? What's that? I am too tired to do anything most days. But I have made a promise to myself to walk at least a half hour five days a week starting today. It's a beautiful day so I will be walking the Brooklyn Bridge after work today. I have been pretty good with not snacking between meals and if I do it's with nuts or fruit. Thanks for your suggestions they are much appreciated. -
My surgeon has all his patients start taking bariatric level of vitamins 2 weeks before surgery to build up stores of them, because it's often hard for people to get in all the vitamins they need immediately after surgery.

I did greek yogart in week 2 and my sleeve loved it. Just get the vanilla or honey flavor to avoid fruit.

Sleeved thursday, home today. Stomach "burning"?
No game replied to Kennedy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You know the first week is the hardest... It's not unusual to have a sore throat stomach pain and so on... Just be kind to yourself take your pain meds if needed. If your start to feel really bad (high fever increased pain) put a call into your doctor. Good luck -

I get the weird cramping as well. Kind of like a big bubble that forms in my stomach every time I swallow something a little too much. I personally didn't have a drain, but it is very common to have one after surgery. Best of luck! . Hello kb88 today I am 2 weeks post surgery and I am 10 pounds down feeling better the bag was taken out on the March 18 and the removing of the bag hurt really bad. I have to remember to chew my food very fine. I was surprise that my stomach only can hold 3oz of egg white. This week I will head to the gym but I realize that I have to pace myself. I have one problem and that is consuming 64 oz of Water I am not even at 16 yet is that bad? -

Puerto Vallarta In Nov With Dr. Lopez And Dr. Osuna
Skyjack1 replied to jjones10669's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I am3 weeks postop with Dr. Lopez. Zero complications! BMI was 31.9 and I am down 23 lbs. I was in TJ but I just thought I would share. -
I am two weeks post bypass. Healing good, no major problems better chewing can't solve. I can't wait to get back in the local rec center pool, are any of you swimmers and did you get back into the pool quickly? My Dr. says two more weeks, any suggestions for pace? I know I will want to overdo it, but will restrain myself.
-
I am also a swimmer. I had RNY on 1/28 and I was back in the pool after 4 weeks. Before surgery I was swimming 1 mile in 35 minutes. After surgery I was down to about 1,000 yards for the 1st month and then added a 100 yards per week until I got back to the mile. I am now swimming almost 2 miles in the same amount of time! It is AMAZING how much better I can swim with less weight AND I am back in the gym working out with weights again! Give yourself time to get back into the swing of things but you will get there! Good Luck!

I have always been mega paranoid about heart problems, despite the fact that other than being obese, I have literally no other risk factors. (I even had an EKG done a few years ago just to be sure I could smoke weed safely.) I had an EKG done while on a bike for the weight loss program I had to complete pre-surgery as well (this was maybe 6 months ago), and both times everything was fine. But the past few days my chest has been feeling... weird. It doesn't hurt, there's no major squeezing or anything. I just feel hyper aware of my heart, and I sometimes feel something I can sort of describe as a poking (?)... I really don't know; just a "sensation." I mentioned it to a doctor friend. She told me it was probably nothing. I see my surgeon on the 11th for my first post-op check up and I'll definitely mention it to him, but in the mean time I'm wrestling with whether or not I should see my PCP. I think I saw her with very similar "symptoms" when I had the weed related EKG, and I'm a known hypochondriac in her office. But then when I google "heart attack symptoms in women," everything always says, "If you suspect anything, call 911 IMMEDIATELY!!!" Ugh, I'm 99% sure I'm being totally ridiculous... but what if? Another reason though why I'm pretty sure I'm freaking out over nothing, is that when I'm doing something or with people, I totally forget about it. I did all my normal stuff today and was totally fine. I only notice it when I'm by myself and get caught in a sort of solipsistic loop. Anyway, did anyone else feel anything like this post-op? A sort of weird feeling in the middle of the chest? I'm 5 weeks out and have just started exercising again. Or did anyone who actually had a heart attack have something that sounds similar beforehand? Ugh, even posting this is making nervous because I'm afraid of people freaking me out more! I'd be so embarrassed to go to them emergency room and just try to muddle through in my broken German that my heart/chest maybe feels kinda "weird?" I can't even describe it in English!

I was sleeved 10 weeks ago and I'm down 70 lbs. my dr. Took me off my BP, cholesterol and asthma meds. So far, I'm fine and feel good. I'm bipolar and my psych meds have been decreased by 1/2 and so far my mood has been stable.

What type of workout do you do and how often? I am working out in the gym twice a week and using the treadmill plus outside work at home. I know some people from the Kakauna (sp?) - Holly Glashen. I live in Minnesota by Duluth. Tammy -
My surgery was originally scheduled for March 17. I did the 2 week pre-op diet which was miserable. Like everyone, I had my doubts if I was doing the right thing. Then 2 days before I was positive for Covid and the surgery was postponed. Though I wanted to continue on a good path, I was not ablet to and before long I was eating like my old self. Every difficult thing I encountered due to my weight depressed me because I knew I should've been X weeks past the surgery by now. Most of the doubts I had disappeared. I realized how depressed I was it was postponed. Maybe it turned out to be for the best, because as the new date approached, I had almost no doubts. I was ready. The surgery was June 21, it went very well and I'm on the road to recovery. The postponement may have been a blessing in disguise. I don't know anyone that wasn't nervous, it's a part of the process.
