  1. NSV - my engagement ring doesn't fit anymore, to the point I'm afraid it will fall off.

congrats. put a guard on it or get it resized. you would hate to lose it.

I totally feel you! I can't wear my wedding r. I've had it fall off twice and thankfully I noticed it when it came off right away. I'm not wearing it right now and will likely have it resized at the end of the summer. Kind of afraid to have it done before then because I'm not done losing weight and I don't want to have to have the resizing done twice.

Hilarious. I had to go buy new one's last weekend. The last thing I wanted to do was go to the mall. But I am actually glad they are smaller. I've always been big chested. I am so over it.

  9. Feel like it's time for a status update, I haven't been on here regularly in a while and I need to keep my mindset focused on my goals.

I haven't weighed myself in ~ 3 weeks.  I think I'm becoming the opposite of "obsessive" about tracking my progress and it could cause me some issues.  The good thing is that there have still been quite a number of NSV's happening that is telling me that I'm still progressing without knowing what the scale says.

First one is that a belt I bought about 5 weeks ago because all my other belts were too big is also on the last hole so I'll have to buy yet another belt again.  second, I bought new jeans about a month ago and I have a lot more slack in the waist than I did when I purchased them.  I also boarded a plane and had about 8 inches of slack in the belt.  Finally, I hit my goal last week of being able to ride go-carts with my kids.  The last time I tried about 4 years ago, I had to leave because I couldn't fit in the harness.  This was sweet victory and I showed those two how it was done on the race course!!  😈

  10. NSV this morning! I decided to try on a pair of size 16 jeans (from a plus size clothing store, so we all know they're probably closer to a size 18) and THEY FIT WITH ROOM TO SPARE! I haven't fit into these jeans comfortably for about 5 years. Woohoo! I have a serious love-hate relationship with this pre-op diet.

  11. NSV! Just tried on a pair of size 16 jeans I bought 2 years ago, tags, I obviously never wore them because I had to hem,

  12. Woohoo! Lost another pants size! NSV win!

  13. Enjoying my Bday weekend with the fam! At Cedar point amusement park for Halloweekends.... not worried about whether I can fit my big ass on the ride! I've been able to ride everything so far. Great feeling! Biggest NSV next to getting into Onederland.

  15. That dreaded moment you are told you need to come to the trauma center to meet your spouse. It has been a rough couple of days. Hubby broke his C2 vertebrate which is right up underneath your skull. We are so blessed that he is not paralized. We spent days on the nuerology floor at our local trauma center. I didn't grab my vitamens or protien drinks (only 4 weeks post op)....I ate mushy protiens at the hosptial and took lots of walks to help with the stress. I know my vitaman levels will be a mess later this week at the dr, but I am proud of my self for not turning to food in a time where no one could blame me for doing it. Total NSV!

I am so sorry to hear about this; however, I am very happy to hear that he will not be paralyzed. I am definitely sending thoughts and prayers your way. And it is inspiring to see that you found a positive in this situation! Take care of that spouse of yours!

  17. What is the best way to wake up on a Sunday morning? With your 10 month old granddaughter snuggled in close sharing your pillow of course. My dh and I had a busy day yesterday watching our little angel and we decided to keep her overnight to give our daughter and son-n-law a little break. I have really started to notice the NSV more this past week and yesterday I definitely had more energy.

I wonder if my scale is accurate? I weighed 187 on Friday and yesterday the scale said 185.2. I find it hard to believe I lost that much in 24 hours. ...lol.. ah well it really doesn't matter because I feel great and my clothes keep getting looser.

    1. Newme17

      Newme17

Wow, kept her overnight too! That is some energy!!! :) That was a blessing to your daughter and her hubby too. So nice.

If your scale is accurate to measure ten lbs as ten lbs, then yes, the number you are weighing is accurate. Now, your body may have held water the previous day, maybe you sweat it all out running after your granddaughter, but the scale is accurate. Our bodies are not. LOL

I haven't weighed, don't want too still, but I'm curious of where I'm at now. Guess I've got one week and five days to find out! :)

    2. Apple1

      Apple1

I checked my scale using 2 gallons of water which should have been 16 lbs. it was 16.9. So if I take off .5 for the plastic jugs, I would say my scale is .5 over. So that means I actually lost .5 more...lol it is accurate enough.

    3. Newme17

      Newme17

      Indeed it is! Lol

  18. NSV: yesterday a business man came into to see one of the bosses. He gave me a candy bar first and then the paperwork. I said I would be sure to give to supervisor. he says no candy is for you. I said its ok, he was , NO ITS FOR YOU. I said thank you , that I had had weight surgery so I tend to stay away from candy. He looked at me up and down and said you don't need surgery (probably didn't understand what I had said).  It's nice knowing that I look fit enough to where I would not need one, lol. Working out 25 out of 31 days definitely helps!

  19. Some NSVs I've experienced to date:

My clothes became baggy enough that I needed to transition sizes in my closet and buy a few more standard items.  Two days ago I was able to walk into Old Navy and purchase size 18 jeans.  At my HW I was in a 26.  Never thought seeing a 1 in the tens place would make me so proud.

I no longer need my inhaler to work out.

I am able to take 1 hour walks around our neighborhood without stopping, feeling fatigued, or wheezing.

My back rolls are almost non existent.

I can feel my pelvic and hip bones!  I also have some knuckle and ankle definition.  Who knew?!

I wore heels and my feet weren't screaming in pain.

My migraines haven't popped up in months.

I picked up a bag of Starburst FaveReds Jelly Beans in the supermarket, put them back down, and walked away.

  20. Some thing I never thought I'd say: I love to run! How crazy is that!? I signed up for a 5k in May and have been running 3x a week for the past month and it is amazing. I feel so awesome, it's so relaxing. I tried getting into running in the fall and my knees were killing me, but the past month has been awesome. Best NSV I could ever ask for! :)

  21. Whoo Hooo! I fit into a regular and attractive padded bra! A special NSV for me and my booblets.

  22. I realized last night at the Y that I'm now at a point where I feel "normal" fat as opposed to "feel like I have to apologize for taking up space and offending people's eyes" fat. I'm still obese, but I notice that I don't immediately race from the pool to wrap a towel around me to cover myself up now. NSV, I guess?

    1. gowalking

You know, it's a weird feeling to NOT be invisible anymore. Men notice me and women now ask me all the time about where I shop, what makeup I wear, where I got my shoes, get my hair done! It's such an odd feeling like having been a ghost before and only now really being a live and a part of society. I know how you feel, it's such a big change so fast, it takes the mind a moment to catch up! I do now feel like I'm a regular person who doesn't stick out like a sore thumb everywhere I go. It's great to be alive and well for the first time in a long time! Congrats to you on how far you have come, keep it up and keep us posted!

    1. Djmohr

      Djmohr

Isn't it great when you can see parts of your body like your knees again and your feet! Last week some mentioned how skinny my hands look. When I was heavy I carried a lot of weight in my arms and hands. Still have a long way to go on the arms but it is all very exciting. Congratulations!

  25. Enjoying my new strength & cardio routine, but not the increased weight on the scale. I know why that happens when doing strength training so I'm trying to not let it affect my psyche. NSV - Toning muscle and losing inches!! Yeehaw!!

Thanks for the encouragement, ladies! @CanyonBaby, @ShrinkingPeach, @Djmohr -- I felt like I needed to ramp up what I had been doing at the gym so I met with a trainer a week ago last Thursday. The routine is a bit more intense, but very doable for me despite my normal chronic pain and limitations. Good thing I like exercising - grins......
