Today I put a shirt on that was an 18/20.....an 18/20...down from a 26/28 (but I was barely barely barely fitting in them....that's bad)..an 18/20!!!!!! YEAH!!!! Lorraine

BK....congrats on the NSV! Sorry to hear about your loss though. Glad you've figured out what you want to do w/your life! :eek: STEPH...yes, you told me so!! Funny thing is i Saw the Ex w/his new girl on Sunday and I was just SOO over it! I actually felt kind of sorry for HER choosing to be w/such a slimeball! But hey, not my problem, right? I just hope this guy falls for me! I'm still so not confident in that area... CLAUD...glad to hear everyone is safe!!! I hear on the news that they're hopefully turning a corner in controlling all the fires, so that is good news!

Hi flower faery, The tone of your post sounds so much better. I am very happy for you. It is wonderful to see you recover from being down. I wanted to tell you that my scale goes up and down all week and for me that is okay. I know I am getting stronger, my metabolism is getting higher and I just plain feel better. My trainer really helps me out. On the days that I work with my trainer, I burn more than 1600 calories during exercising (minium of 1000 with him and another 600 in cardio afterward). I had a great NSV (Non Scale Victory) last week when we took measurements after five weeks. 18 scale pounds amounted to 44 lbs of fat loss and 26 lbs of muscle gain. If my trainer was not taking the measurements, I would have thought it was just 18 lbs. I guess what I am saying is that the scale is only one measurement. Look at your overall accomplishments. I also believe that the band has one important difference than other methods. The band helps you keep it off (the yo-yo effect is over:clap2:). Good for you and keep up the good work:waytogo:. I hope you get the fill and begin to get some restriction. Be patient for your sweet spot, it will happen for you. Happy banding, MMT

At my Lapband support group the other night a suggestion was made to make a list of your NSV's and mark them off as you reach them... we'll I'm marking one off!! :whoo: I was just walking here in the office... I'm wearing a dress today (something I do not normally wear) and I noticed that my legs are not rubbing together!!! :clap2: WOO HOO - I love this!

Told you we are all alike - even though we are different. I still eat in the middle of the night - but now it's sf pudding and sf fudgecicles - If i could just quit this behavior - I would save about 200 calories a day... But I can't so at least it's 200 c and not 1000 = NSV..

It sure is quiet around here! normally when I get home from work and get in here I have about 3 pages to catch up on...lately its only been 1 or 2. We CAN'T be running out of things to say can we? Credit reports, Geeeezzz...I am not even gonna go there...that is just way too depressing. So lets see...I will find something else to talk about. My dh's ex wife had to have gastric bypass done about 2 years ago...and I found out from my stepdaughter this past weekend that I weigh less than her mom now....so that is a NSV. She (the ex wife in law) would probably rip my stepdaughter a new one if she knew that her daughter told me how much she weighs....I have been wondering for the longest, now I know. I thought that it looked like she was gaining some back and I was right. I really hope that she is careful and doesn't start gaining it all back. I have seen people do that and I hope she watches it! I really do like her. I wish no ill will for her. YIKES...I could really elaborate alot on this subject but with my luck she will read these posts if she finds out that I come here, so I will just shut my trap while I am ahead and we can talk about it on our violet vacation Man, just when I was on a roll.... Anywhoooo....Amanda, good luck with your court date. Haydee, like you will really be able to sleep on the plane anyway, please. Hey LADIES!!! I'm back....again.....still unemployed :-( Was supposed to hear yesterday about a job, but got an email saying that I was in the top 2, but that they needed a few more days to make their final decision...UGH....I HATE Waiting!!! I'm drinking way too much alcohol these days (going out w/friends, not sitting home alone btw) and I am convinced that that is why my scale is not moving! I'm not sure whether this was an NSV or not. I have lost a fair bit of weight and all my clothes are loose. I went to the kitchenette and the back of the classroom to get some water and my pants fell down! A few of my students saw I think but they did a good job pretending that they didn't. How embarrassing (in a cool way). Needless to say, I bought some safety pins on the way home.

Jenn - I'll make you sing to me when I see you in a few weeks! He he he... That's awesome about the NSV. I can't believe you're already in a MEDIUM!! Like Pam says, you are a skinny b-word already! Tracy - My birthday was Friday and so far I've had 3 different celebrations this weekend. Today was the last one. My friends met me for lunch and brought me a cake. My neighbor is gonna kill me. Everyone insists on giving me the leftover cake and of course i don't want that in my house so as soon as I get home I walk on over to my neighbors house, she has three kids, and I leave the cake with her. I'm sure her kids are bouncing off the walls, LOL!!

So I've been dying to have the time to post my NSV for the weekend. We went to the bar sat. night that I use to go to 2-3 times a week. actually, let me start with this silly little part. Last week my dad got me some new shirts from the Gap (size M long sleve V-necks) and I wore one to work. A friend of my dads yelled across the shop to tell me how nice that shirt looked on me and it made my boobs look bigger. We laughted and I told her it was because the rest of me was shrinking and my cup size is not (THANK GOD). Anyway, when we went out Sat night, I brought 2 shirts to change into because I couldn't remember what color she said really did it, she told me the brown one without any hesitation, so that is the one I wore. Well... when we got to the bar, I joked with the bouncer about getting in 2 for 1 (did not work) but he did make a very suggestive comment. I felt pretty good about it, I'll take any compliments I can take. Then when we were inside he came over to our table and was talking to us, he told me how familiar I looked to him. I told him I was there 2-3 times a week for years and always hung at the table we were sitting at, he said you were not that heavy set girl who was always here on friday's... I said YUP... that was me... 70lbs ago. He was so amazed.. we chit chatted - he was thinking about surgery so asked me if I had one. I told him yes and band, i was hiding it but I have worked hard so I don't care anymore who knows and who doesn't. Anyway, this other guy who has been asking me out for years had come over, and the bouncer was just telling me how nice my boobs were, then Joe the other one made me spin around and told me how great I looked and how he would wait forever for me.... he is full of shit but that is not the point..... great compliments.. then a girl I have not seen in 4 months came up to me and told me how fantastic I looked, she didn't know about surgery. It was so nice to be able to squeeze by a crowd of people without beinng completely stressed about not fitting, and being able to function and have people take notice. My dd is watching something and laughted and said mom's claustrophobic (sp) ya know, it made me think, I have not been as completely freaked about small spaces as I'm shrinking... I even liked looking at my shadow as I was walking.... who is this... could it really be me?????????? I think I might be starting to see it.

What an excellent NSV!!!! One many would have likely not noticed---this is your life changing on a daily basis---I love it!!! And I also love hearing about how loving and supportive your family was with it.....that is an added bonus, that is sweeter even than the Milk Duds!!! You are doing great----keep the NSV's coming!!! Looking good there Nichole. NSV - I got into a pair of size 16 jeans over the weekend and they were comfortable. :whoo: I'm on my way to Onderland. I was hoping to get there by Halloween, but won't be disappointed if it takes a little longer. I've got 5lbs to go!!! :biggrin1:

Hey, Nykee, great to see you! What an amazing NSV, being able to walk after living life in a wheelchair. That right there will go further towards improving your health than anything you can imagine. Just keep walking! You look wonderful--and it's good to hear your band is OK. Congratulations on your weight loss and keep it up!

Good Morning, Violets.. Well, today was weigh in day and I stayed the same. I'm getting a little fatutzed that it's not going down like it used to. But, my clothes are fitting looser and my size 14 pants I bought yesterday are baggy with my spanx on so I guess I can go "commando"! I'm wearing a sweater that I have had in my closet for about 7 years when I was at my lowest weight in my adult life. Today I'm wearing it and it's loose. So I'll take my nsv's and let the doctor talk to me about the numbers when we go for our fill on the 29th. My new sweatshirt I bought yesterday in Xl is loose on me too. Bob says I should have bought a L, but I just never thought that would be my size, I guess!! Oh well, when it's washed it will shrink a bit and I like to wear them baggy anyway. Sooooooooooo I'm in the process of getting ready for church this morning. It's so nice to have a choice of clothes to wear. Daughter Kris and SIL Nathan will be coming in for church today so we'll probably go out for lunch together afterwards. It looks like it is going to be a beautiful day so I'll get my walking in this afternoon. Kat.. hope you're feeling better today. Pamela.. wooo hooooo a new car!! We need pics!! NSV stands for "Non-scale victory". Maybe it didn't come up in your search because you typed in "NVS" by accident and not "NSV".

I did something yesterday I have not done in...forever. It was a dark and stormy night. And I'm not kidding. The weather was most foul. Cold, cold, cold, biting hard rain and wind. We took the kids (the daughter and her boyfriend) to a movie last night, deciding to have dinner at a Mexican place first. I was looking forward to carne asada or some kind of Soup. I had already prepared my "no rice no chips" mindset. The wait would have been too long, so we decided to head up the street (about 2-3 blocks) to Round Table pizza. Somehow, by the grace of the weight I've lost and my ever-increasing ability to walk upright, I literally dashed up the street. I did not waddle. I did not amble. I did not whine and ask my husband to get the car. My ankles did not hurt. My hips did not hurt. I felt so good pushing through that nasty weather I actually felt like running. Holy cr*p! I WANTED to run! I could hear my daughter and husband behind me going, "Mom's running! Look at mom go!" I made it into the restaurant before any of them. My husband was so proud of me he gave me a hug and let me catch my breath in his arms. It took only a few moments for my body to return to normal (no hard breaths, racing heart) and I made it through the dinner eating a personal-size extra crispy crust chicken garlic pizza. Comparing my itty bitty four pieces of pizza to "regular" size pizza slices, I think I had about 1.75 slices. Nothing got stuck. I had no trouble because I CHEWED and took little bites. I had a huge snack at the theater. Three Milkduds. Not a whole box. Not two boxes. Three. And I was done. I love the way my band say, "Way to go, Darr! You just ate your fill of this treat and congrats on stopping right now! Oh, and baby cakes, if you don't stop now, you are going to sit through the entire movie with a golf ball lodged in your throat." It was wonderful to taste a little chocolate and caramel again. A little goes a long way! Saw "30 Days of Night." Both the daughter and I are hankering for more back story on the vampires. They were wicked little beasties! Darr

Good morning, Girls! Hey, great picture of you all...thanks for posting it. You have no idea how badly I wanted to make one of those nights! As for the job...Well, I was supposed to work last thurs, fri and sat. By wed. night, I was a basket case about having to go back to that place. I couldn't eat my band was sooooo tight. (Me not eating, just a hilarious thought!) Then my sweet little boys managed to pass this incredible head cold to me. So there I am...5 am on Thurs morning....having a very Ferris Bueler moment...back and forth with this "do I go?" "do I call off?" After sitting at my vanity crying, my husband told me to call off. So I did. (no arm twisting there!) And after talking with my sweety, I called them and resigned. Oh My God What A Relief!!!! I picked up my one and only check yesterday and I don't ever have to go back. I hope I won't be kicking myself in the A** later because I can't get hired anywhere, but that's just the risk I had to take. Thank you guys so much for all the support and listening to me whine about it. You all are so great. On to another story...I have this wedding I'm going to the first week of November. So, guess what I need...clothes. Lord I hate to clothes shop. Particularly for formal wear. My mom is so paranoid that I am going to show up in jeans and a tshirt. (wouldn't I just love to!) But it's at a country club in Anthem (Phx) so I hafta dress nicely. My Wes is a ring bearer and will be in a little tux, I got the little guy a little suit (didn't even know they came that small for little 4 year olds) and my hubby has a gorgeous suit from his brother's wedding. That leaves me. Okay, fine. I don't really even know what size I wear anymore. So, I went to Dress Barn. They have nice clothes there. And guess what!!! I can fit in those sizes again! They max at size 24 and I had "outgrown" that store a few years ago. Not only can I fit in their clothes, but my skirt/pant size is 18 and my blouse size is 18 or 20 depending on the cut. And the neat top I got was a 1X!!!!!!!! I can't even remember when I could fit in a 1X!!!!! So, had to share my little NSV with you. The scale is still stuck pretty much on about 50lb loss, but wavers back and forth a few pound from day to day. And, Want2bme, this will crack you up. I went shopping with my mom and had to hear about...dunt dunt dunt....The Bra! Yes, this dreaded, broken down, wrong sized, cheap Wallyworld thing I wear under my t-shirts. I have been trying to get down just 5 more lbs before I purchase new ones, but just had to do it yesterday. Okay, whats worse than shopping for formal wear? Bra shopping. These pretty blouses and outfits are somewhat fitted with the pretty dart shaping in the front, and my boobs where not "up" in the area they are supposed to be for these fitting outfits. Kinda funny at the time but really annoyed my mom.:pound: I gave her the "are you sure they aren't supposed to be at my skirt line?" (Some outfits actually looked like a guy in drag!) So I bought new ones. The inch number went down quite a bit, but the cup size didn't. Weird, huh? Just had to share my shopping with you. It's neat to see the sizes go down, but at the same time, I think I need to exercise or something cuz things are hanging pretty badly. A lot of those clothes look just as bad as they did before, only in a smaller size. (lord I hate to exercise!) Nicnaknut~congrats! Glad to see you in BandLand!!! Angie38!
