It was kinda weird, but most ( if not all) of the pain was from the gas! Yeah I was "sore" from the surgery, but no pain. The gas on the other hand....what a pain in the butt! I'm two weeks out and getting better everyday.

O how sad. The school district is NOT too smart. They screwed themselves by making that statement above. Here in Austin , Texas in general lately the schools are being OVERLY Cautious because in the past few weeks there have been SEVERAL Kids Die on the sports fields. IN houston Last week alone there were 3 kids ( one in 7 grade) die on the football field . The week before that there was a Football player in the Austin are drop on the side lines on the feild. He was dead... The had a portable defibulator and they brought him back. IN the past 2 weeks I would say there have been close to 10 middle school to high school kids die. They should be being more careful. Mindy

Valentine’s Day Question: Has Weight Loss Surgery Improved Your Relationship?
BayougirlMrsS replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
i really wish i could say that it got better.... but no, if anything it got worse. So i was pretty vague with my post.... so let me explain better. We have been married 24 years. And in those years he has seen my weight go from 100lb to my highest at 230. He never said anything about me getting fat, but our "relationship" was strained to say the least. He never wanted me to have surgery, but i did it for me... No one else. When the weight started coming off i have to say it got better. He was "interested" in me again. Went from twice a year... to twice or more a week.... I was in heaven. I loved all the attention. But then other men started noticing me and he saw that... and didn't like it one bit. He has even said that me losing weight was the worse thing ever. We are back to once every three months or so... which is terrible because i woke up one morning with the drive of an 18 year old boy... lol. But i hang in there.... for how long, im really not sure anymore. I think it must be wonderful to have a spouse that supports you and encourages you.... so too all of you that have that.. i envy you..... I know that Envy if the Thief of happiness.... but i do. -
So 1 more week hopefully lol

I have really been SLACKING on taking my vitamins the only vitamins I was told to take was a multivitamin, iron, and calcium/vitamin d. However I have added b12 because I see that it is needed as well. My main concern is how do you take all these vitamins in a days time I am not a morning person but I do see that if I don't take my vitamins my body is tired my eyes feel strange and I am always thirsty (not so really hungry) I am a month post-op and I don't want any issues in the long run but I feel some may come up. & do anyone still have to sip their drink? I don't really I know everyone body is different but I want to learn how to maintain my weight even when I reach my goal. What did anyone eat a month post op because I still can't find the right foods that agree with me so most I eat one meal a day when I suppose to eat 3 and it is usually a protein drink/ tuna or a grilled chicken piece. This journey is really a LEARNING PROCESS! But I am determined not to give up!!!

Some of you may already have tried this, but this morning I threw in my magic bullet a Bananas and Cream Premier Protein shake, 3 teaspoons of Jif's peanut powder, and 2 teaspoons of Benefiber--and it was DELICIOUS. It's a nice changeup from the standard flavors I've been drinking for the last month.

My insurance requires the 6 month supervised diet; however, I had a personal trainer for 3 months and spent over $600 for that Aug, 2015-Nov 2015, joined Beachbody from Aug 2015-May 2016 spent well over $1000 for that program, and I also have 3 months supervised weight loss with phentermine 2008 and again in 2013, in March 2015, I saw another Dr. For weight loss and she had me on Alli. Have any of you experienced prior weight loss programs such as these and if so did your insurance approve you and waive the 6 months? I had a stress test- Dec 2015 Diagnosed sleep apnea- June 7th Thanks in advance! Jen Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

About 6 years ago I lost 100 lbs w/out surgery after being diagnosed with fatty liver (my insurance at the time wouldn’t cover wls). Of course most of that weight gradually came back. A new career meant new insurance, and this time WLS was covered. I started consults the week my insurance became effective.

hi all! i'm new here as a registered user but i've been reading everyone's posts here for about a month now. i haven't been banded yet - actually i haven't even discussed it with my doctor. the idea of having the surgery is this really weird mix of emotions for me. i know it's a life-long journey and a tool to help me lose weight..but i've been morbidly obese for years now (and i'm three months shy of my 20th birthday)..so the idea of change is very scary. i want to be thin and healthy but i'm terrified of the process. however, i know that i won't ever do it on my own. i'll have to do something as drastic as surgery or i won't stick to it. i think it's more that i'm afraid to admit that i NEED the surgery...that i've actually let myself go that much. the idea of going to an amusement park and riding the rides, flying on a plane without having to ask for an extension, going to the beach without feeling completely self-conscious, or just going out to dinner without having people stare at me is something that i would love to have! so i guess what i'd like to know is: at what point do i stop researching and decide i actually know enough about it? also, even though i've done a ton of research i do still have some questions like how long did it take from the time you first discussed it with your doctor for you to be approved and scheduled for surgery? does it take months or is it a matter of a couple of weeks? days? sorry for the long post! any help is appreciated. also...has anyone here had the surgery in north carolina? thanks! brittany

I was on 3 shakes a day for a total of 600 calories a day during my 14 day pre-op shake phase. Prior to that I had to have a six month - monthly weigh ins before the doctor got approval from my insurance company. my doctor had me on 800-1000 calories a day (I always stayed under 900 calories, 80 grams of Protein and 45-75 carbs (I tried to stay under 50) carbs and I lost weight each month persistently even though I had fun days. 1200-1500 calories a day seems very high to me for a pre-op phase. It seems like a good amount of calories for maintenance phase especially if you are exercising. One thing though, everyone picked their surgeon for a reason and I think listening to your surgeon's advice, but did your surgeon set you up with a nutritionist first? My suggestion, which cannot hurt you and will give you the results you want would be: Drink 64 ounces of Water a day - Walk as much as you can and the most important thing is to avoid as many carbs as you can. Keep carbs under 6-7 grams of per serving and as high a protein as possible. Why not try TWO Protein Shakes a day, sugar-free popsicles & sugar-free Jello as Snacks and eat a sensible dinner - "protein - plus vegetable". The shakes & vegetable and sf stuff will give you the amount of carbs you need for energy and the least carbs you have the better your liver will be for surgery. Best of luck. Sorry I had to edit this I hit send too fast.

Oh My! Did I ever! My husband and I are empty nesters and eat out every night. I ate anything and everything I wanted including lots of desserts. I'm really big into deserts and breads...all the good stuff. Any away I had 3 months to do this and I gained an additional 15 lbs.

I'm in Manchester. Yes, I know a couple people that had Dr. Papasavas and I've heard really good things about him (about both of them actually). Do you go to the support meetings at Hartford Hospital? I've gone to a couple of them so far and thought they were pretty good. I think there's one next week (maybe Tuesday night). You've done really well over the last 13 months! 150 lbs is AWESOME!! I have heard that the weight comes off easier in the first year and then starts to slow down. What are you doing for exercise? I have been walking but just recently started biking. There's a group called Healthy Gears that rides some of the bike trails in CT. I went this past weekend for the first time and rode with them in Farmington and went 6 miles! I think I'm going to try to keep that up, I'm more likely to stick with it if it's a group thing.

I do have to participate in a 6 month diet. The nutritionist told me to start on January 1 so as not to sabotage myself during the holidays. I only have to lose 15 lbs. in 6 months so that's a plus right? haha... I wanted to make sure that I have this right...when I'm reading things about the "pre-op" diet...are most people talking about the diet that lasts for 3-6 months that prepares us for new eating habits, or are they talking about the diet just a few days prior to surgery? dumb question I know...but I feel as if this is the best place to ask it. can anyone here help?

I was banded on 10/1 and I am already starving- I am starting on mushie food at the end of the week, so I hope it helps- I guess I thought there would be a feeling of more resistance with just the band-It sounds like I won't feel the benefit of the band until the first fill and until then, we just need to be careful- Is that what most of you do?? Please help!!

my fittness pal
NurseGrace replied to teamskinny_keea's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I might be alone in this, but I think that tracking my food in MyFitnessPal is JUST as vital in my weight loss as my surgery was, if not more. You can add me at HolyPeas if you feel like it. I do not fill out my diary quite as often as I used to because I tend to be an automated eater (eat the same things or very similar things most days of the week) but especially if I am doing something different, I LOG. -
I am 3 weeks post op and have been using the patches! I love how easy it is. I just have to supplement with Vitamin B1. Having said that, I have not had my blood tests yet. I will know pretty soon whether it has been working!

still feeling bloated
Katie K Kitt replied to galadriel535's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hey question - why would you have a BM if on clear liquids? Or are most people not on clear liquids for a week after surgery? Also do you get a BM if you are just on liquid shakes? -
After a week I started calling! If they have everything they need it shouldn't take a month. They have up until a month to process. I called on my own and found out before my surgeon called to set up the surgery date lol [emoji23] talk about antsy! [emoji16]

still feeling bloated
maria88 replied to galadriel535's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My doc said that I needs to have BM no later than 4 days post-op. I took milk of magnesia, mom bought me Philips cherry flavored, then I ended up using a rectal suppository. Also said i should have a BM minimal 3x a week... But I was regular before surgery, once every morning, and I'm back to that schedule again... Definitely talk to your doctor though. -
Semptember 20Th Sleevers?
beefalogal replied to gorjess907's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I hear you! I have slipped into some poor habits. Will get back to tracking my food at least for a start. My exercise needs to be more strenuous than the walking that I am doing. Lost 47 but have another 47 to go! I have not lost in at least 3 weeks. -
I’m 6 days into my 14 day liquid diet. The first 3 days were bad. It’s definitely gotten easier. I been averaging 5 premier shakes and try to drink at least 3-4 cups of water along with 2 cups of chicken broth. I’m having a hard time sleeping because all this liquid is making me use the restroom every 2hrs. I tried to finish shakes + dinner by 9-10p and still wake up from my exploding bladder.
