    Stomach pain

Man.. sounds rough. And at this point theres not much thats tmi haha.. anf ya that's what they told me as well, can't see hernias on scans.. only scopes. I have had 2 scopes and did have a hiatus hernia prior to surgery. The Dr this morning thinks a scope would be helpful for me..

    Stomach pain

I had that same crazy pain last week. It was awful! I was doubled over and it lasted about 15 hours. I didn't go to ER but talked rinse and she worried it might be internal hernia but once the pain magically stopped I didn't pursue it. Meanwhile I have had very pale/clay colored stool last 3 days (sorry TMI I know) but I know that can be a sign of gallstones so I did call Dr today. They want a CT scan but gave to get it approved by insurance first since it isn't an emergency at this point. I read that can't always see the hernias on a scan. Ugh.

    Fluids fluids fluids

No worries at this point I think tmi is out the window!! I also can't tell the difference between my images moving around in my body and the hunger feeling they are both so off and different it's like everything gargles now. Where before I just had the hunger gargle..... Hope that makes sense

    Fluids fluids fluids

I dont have a problem peeing its the other one ive been struggling with. Sorry for tmi
  5. Great write up, glad everything worked out well. I did mention the walk alot and drink alot, figured it had not changed.. BAsed on this, I'll definately consider Mexico when I get my plastics done ( I can already see I will need them). Now the hard part starts, keep drinking as much as you can and DO NOT push past your schedule for food types. You will pay for it and your primary care giver is not near by so dont take any chances. If you have blood in teh stool, if its black, keep an eye on it but it should clear. If its red, get to the hospital.. TMI, but you need to know these things.. Luck, Craig

    Exhaustion

I'm about 4 months post op. I still feel tired most of the time and during my time of the month it's a hundred times worse(sorry TMI I know right). I feel better when I excersize, but I'm not consistent with it. The thing you have to remember is you are not getting a ready to use source of energy anymore. All of your sugar has to be broken down from your fat storage. So don't get discouraged it takes time to adjust, but it is so worth it. Make sure to keep up with your vitamins and give yourself time to adjust to your new body.

    First BM after surgery?

@@rora - I don't go everyday so I didn't worry to much for a couple of days. when I did it was "different" without TMI - loose & very dark. I have since had trouble because of the Iron supplements I was taking. Search "pineapple" here and it explains what it felt like Needless to say RN said to stop iron supplements until I get new BW done in about 3 weeks. I see doctor for 2nd f/u appointment on 9/8. She said if my iron is low we will address it then. I still have some issues but I add miralax to my drink or yogurt about every day (sometimes I forget) and I haven't had "pineapple" issues.

    First BM after surgery?

I was constipated during the pre-op diet so i never went before surgery.......big mistake cuz by day 3 after surgery i was like ok somethings gotta give and putting pressure on that stomach was NOT fun espec when pain meds make you constipated too. sorry tmi, but I just had to make myself go, not fun but neccesary.

    my Surgery date was moved

they said it would either be endoscopy or stool sample that the insurance would require to ensure no bacteria before actual clearance. (sorry if thats TMI)
  10. Thanks all to the answers and conversation.. I haven't been diagnosed with Fatty liver, But my doctor said that mine is the largest he has come across during his surgeries ( He said it ENORMOUS)... Not something to mess around with ;/ So I am taking the shrinking PRETTY darn serious.... My top weight has been just under 300 (297) I'm at 271 right now.. The diet that they told me to be on is Liquid.. All liquid ( not clear, But I'm sure that's what he will tell me tomorrow..My appt is at 8:30am) Vsgann2014 and Shrinking Peach, I will definitely ask him for a more defined Plan;) I NEED IT... Also, the headaches aren't as bad as Brandeett, but Getting there... That's why I was supplementing the trail mix, mozz and milk.. Otherwise, Mostly all chicken and veggies.. Blended or smoothie-ing everything...We're also Juicing all our veggies twice a day ( about 8-12 oz each time) I'm trying to drink more Water today because I feel stopped up (or harder/muddy-like bowel movements).. Sorry for the TMI all... Rnsleever715, I sure hope that you don't have to go through this when you have surgery... I am going to cut down the cheese and trailmix... I sure appreciate you all being here for me with answers and advice.. and any help from you all is APPRECIATED SINCERELY

    June 30th Sleevers?

Haha- my shirts are getting longer too! Also, I've had three other signs of my weight loss- 1. my husband but his leg over my thigh the other night while we were sleeping and I woke up because it pinched my skin. I didn't realize my thighs had started to have loose skin already! 2. (And this one may be TMI but) the crotch area in all my pants has started hanging so low that I had to wonder if my crotch shrunk or my stomach shrunk so much it can't hold them up anymore. Lmao. 3. My boobs stick out further than my stomach finally!! Hahaha Down 30lbs and finally seeing a difference. Eating normal (soft) food again and feeling great!! Yay!! So glad we all did this!!
  12. So I had VSG on 7-14 so that makes today post-op day 5. Down 20 lbs since pre-op diet I have been feeling so much better then I ever expected, until today. Today has been a little different. The last few times I've stood up I've felt very light headed and like I may pass out. And I have a very strange pain/pressure about 4 inches below my stomach incision. It hurts to sit up straight. Maybe it's gas? Also, I haven't had a bowel movement in almost a week. I took softeners Friday and MiraLax yesterday and still nothing. Any advice? Sorry I know TMI but everyone has been here lol. I've had Greek yogurt, soup, pudding, jello, ect.

    Pain management without NSAIDs

I'm sorry to hear about your back and knee pain woo woo! I hope it lets up! I decided to not take the tramodal because of the possibility of constipation after surgery. I know my ability to take in my 64 oz of fluid orally will be difficult fresh post and I will be provided pain meds during my stay at the hospital. But, the type of pain medication depends on my surgeon. Which I'm sure will be narcotics and those as well can cause constipation. I'm afraid of complications and don't want to leave anything to chance. They told us in our pre op class people can go a week or more with no BM. That opened my eyes. I don't want to be uncomfortable with constipation on top of a fresh surgery. Straining is not good. I know this is TMI but those medications cause that now imagine when im struggling to just stay hydrated. Not good. So I'm just pacing myself with last minute chores and taking breaks to stretch and rest my back. It's so debilitating and frustrating not being able to do things everyone else doesn't think twice about.
  14. Does anybody else stall or gain when it's that time of the month? Because that's what is happening to me right now.

    I'm so sick of water

@leag78---I feel your frustration. I also do get tired of Water. I put fresh lemon in mine everyday, but I still get tired of that. I have to stay away from artificial sweetners as much as possible, so crystal light products are out. I drink ice tea on occasion, that helps. My surgeon says no caffeine though, so I have to watch that. I wasn't sure why the no caffeine rule. I asked at my last appointment and they said too much can lead to dehydration. I had an issue with this just a few days before my last appointment. I had been drinking diet Snapple and regular ice tea a lot for about a week. I started noticing my urine (sorry, TMI) was smelling really strong and I had an aching in my kidney area. After telling my Dr. about this, and ruling out a UTI, he said it was because of the over use of caffeine. It had started causing dehydration and starting effecting my kidney. So I increased water ALOT and that quickly took care of things. I also miss carbonation. I had checked out those ICE drinks too and had to quickly say no! But I had taken just a sip of my son's soda one day and I was instantly in pain. (my pouch area actually had a burning sensation) NOT worth the carbonation! It is all a life changing process, so we just have to take each day as it comes and learn from each other as much as we can. Sometimes, even though we know the right answer, it's good to hear validation from others!
  16. More of a vent and share here. So, I took a new prescription last night (Prilosec) which will eventually replace Pepcid. I ate late, but an appropriate amount. Went to bed, had some twinges and took a Percocet. No big deal, right? Woke up this morning feeling nauseous, headache, very dry mouth and overall exhausted. Thinking I could be slightly dehydrated, I mixed about 8oz of Water with 4oz of apple juice and drank it over about 30 minutes. Well about 20 minutes later gas and cramping. Impossible (!) as I'm constipated slightly (or maybe more), or so I thought. Long story (I know), but who knew you could be constipated and have diarrhea at the same time! For the love of whatever... that doesn't need to ever happen again! I've felt craptastic all day long and have just tried to stay hydrated - food -- out of the question for most of the day, going to try some broth tonight though. Side note: prior to surgery I took Rx to keep me from dumping (gallbladder side effect) and haven't taken it since as I've been slightly constipated, going every 2-3 days.
  17. First night at home was a challenge. So for stuck with this drain tube, and my stomach is super sore. Tried so many ways to get comfortable in my bed , fail number 1 : my bed is high off the floor and my short self needs help to get on . My husband has literally grab my ass checks and put me in the bed and gently as possible. Tried to put all these pillow and folded blankets around me to get myself comfy , woke up in pain at 130am. Fail 2 hubby said ton wake him to help me move or potty. What he do .. zzzzzzz. So I screamed at my teenager to come help and he did .. walked in the restroom and keep the door slightly opened so he can still reach me , but I wanted to close it and he saw (tmi) my tampon wrapper and asked ,mom u started your period too ?!, I sure did started my period _ perfect timing fail 3.. now I'm sitting in my recliner with my back super sore and stomach sore and trying to burp or far whichever comes out first .. and my 5 yr old wants to watch batman. Took half a dose of my pain meds and sipping on my protein shake ..

    What's on Today's Menu?

Oh and for breakfast I had a Syntrax strawberry mousse protein shake made with almond breeze (half almond milk half Coconut) also 1 egg. For snack I had a kind strong bar (new obsession) in the flavor smoked BBQ and a huge unsweetened ice tea after the killer hike. Of course I was dying of thirst and drank it too fast so it came back up! (I know TMI) the struggle is real! Here's my tally for the day. I know it's not good. I'm going to try to get some more in. At least another protein shake if possible.

    Black tongue

@@anahajara That has happened to me when I've take pepto in the past. Also made dark stools (just fyi/tmi). It was harmless, I just brushed my tongue a lot.
  20. Well let's just throw the cards on the table and talk poo. TMI spoiler alert! I thought I was going to die. I began drinking Water and then sent wife out to get miralax. I will never know the pain of child birth but I believe my experience may give me some insight. I am going to double down on water and call doc tomorrow. I got bloodshot eyes from the ordeal.

    4 days post op

My hospital sends is home with therapeutic pillows. They want you to keep pressure on the incision sites when moving, sneezing, burping, farting, coughing, or pooping. I was lucky and pooped two days post-op. It was a struggle. I had to squeeze the pillow against my main incision while bearing down. Kinda felt like I was playing bag pipes on the potty. I got my sleeve done on Tuesday and everything has gotten easier everyday. I have used no pain meds since the day of surgery. Water water water. Protein protein protein. Walk walk walk. Ps. There is no such thing as tmi. We're all in this together and bodily functions are now considered pleasant conversation.

    Manic Monday.....

My last post "tummy looks small" was supposed to be nice incisions LOL ...drugs .... what can I say? My tummy actually looked like I was 6 months pregnant again and hard.. full of gas they kept saying it will pass soon soon it will pass ...4 days until i finally started getting rid of that gas wow!!! ( TMI - sorry) Now I am at home doing so much better.. it was difficult getting fluids in at first I know logically that it wasn't going to be forever but still emotionally it felt like it was. today I hit my protien target 60g and I drank 2 bottles of water plus ONE of my vitamins ..ha its a start! Getting better every day. Today I even walked down the street and back with my daughter. I know we aren't supposed to weigh in this early but curiosity got the best of me and I am down 5 lbs. Nice.... Follow up on Tuesday.
  23. Same here... and it has me nervous. BTW...sorry for TMI on my part..but it is what it is. Lol
  24. No answers, but I can tell you the exact same thing happened to me. Went to a Mexican restaurant, had the chicken Soup. It had a lot of stuff in there, but I only had about 8 tablespoons of the broth only, and it wasn't spicy. About two hours later, I had a complete blow-out (sorry for the TMI) and was thankful that I was very close to a bathroom when it hit. Frustrating! And makes me nervous about starting mushies in a couple of weeks.
  25. Anyone had this? It is located right by my belly button. Gotten progressively worse all day. No redness, swelling or fever. Doctors office closed....unsure what to do. Feels like a hot knife stabbing. Sorry if tmi. 5 weeks out bypass.
