Whew! and I thought I was eating weird... It takes me so long to finish a shake that it is time to eat again when I finish... Snacks are 1 string cheese, and dinner is a tiny portion of meat and maybe a vegetable, a V8 or some unsweetened applesauce. My Water jug is my constant companion and I have a hard time getting enough down every day. I am on week 4 and at the dreaded 3 week stall but my clothing is getting looser so not too worried.

I too am at a 3 week stall... dropped 18 pounds post surgery and now the scale hasn't moved for a week! I know it will, it's just frustrating.

SOOoo glad to hear this! I felt so good at first and then hit the 3 week stall (that also lasted 3 weeks) that I asked my dr if he maybe just poked holes in me then glued me shut! I, also, wondered if I had been a failure once again or had ruined it for myself already. Now I am ready to get my focus back and start losing again! So many of us have been beaten down emotionally, by ourselves or others, that everything has negative connotations and we tend to think less of ourselves at every turn. Oh, to have back that value of self-worth back that I used to have as a younger, thinner person. Maybe that will be my ultimate goal while I lose the weight and regain my health: to regain a healthy self-esteem. -
Positivity Challenge. Name 3 things about surgery that has changed your life.

Only 6 weeks out and have been on a 3 week stall. It may have broken yesterday. (That or I haven't had enough fluids!) Here goes: 1. Walking through the store instead of immediately going for a scooter. 2. Having students say, "Did you do something different with your hair? You look good!". 3. Fewer meds and less pain and discomfort!!! -

August Sleevers Check In

Hey, I am right there with you. We all hear about the 3 week stall, but sure hope and pray it does not happen to us. I hit mine right at 3 weeks, when I switched to soft foods. Doc explained to me that it has a lot to do with just having more food in you bowls (TMI). This too shall pass. I just quit weighing everyday. So I will be 4 weeks out this Thursday and I am not going to get on the scales until then. I am just going to focus on doing the right thing each day, protein, water and mover. Our bodies are wonderful things, we just have to trust them. But it does pi$$ me off also, wonder if being pi$$ed off burns more calories, LOL. Take care, Laura -

Oh yes!!! That 3 week stall! I think we all went through it. It lasted 2 weeks for me then I suddenly dropped 7 lbs. it hit me again at 3 months and again a sudden drop. Don't let it discourage you. -
July 23 for me. I'm 52 lbs down total, 28 lbs since surgery. I've had 2 rehospitalizations and a 5 day initial stay due to a GI bleed. I've had a stricture, blockage and an infection. I finally seem to be on the road to feeling better. I'm walking as much as possible, but I'm really struggling to get in enough Water. I have a post op visit on August 29, so I'm looking forward to talking to my surgeon. One thing that has driven me nuts is the 3 week stall. I hit it at 2 weeks out due to the pre op diet and stayed there for two weeks. I'm crazy about weighing in and even though the surgeon and his nurse told me not to weigh in every day, I do. It's important for me to see that scale moving down. I had to buy new clothes already. I've gone down 2 sizes in my pants and shirt and 1 size in my bra. It's so surreal to have to put clothes back because they're too big.

I have reached the stall everyone talks about. It's so frustrating. I hope it passes soon. Any secrets anyone has to hurry it up would be greatly appreciated!!

Everyone has a story, some good and some bad. I had my surgery on June 25th. I don't know if I am lucky or what but I've had NO complications or problems. I did have a 3 week stall where I lost NO weight. Stayed the same. It broke the other day and now the weight is falling off. Only you can decide what is right for you. I am so much happier now and I'm only down 30 lbs. I feel great! Good luck on your journey! -

I need help... I am getting so very frustrated... My dreaded 3 week stall has lasted 31 days. This is getting ridiculous. The scale has been playing with 2 pounds for 31 days... Did I mention I have NOT LOST WEIGHT in 31 days!!! Here is my "typical Day" Breakfast- Protein shake Drink a large Crystal light. ( I add about 28 ounces of water with one of those tiny packets) Morning snack is Yogurt Lunch is a slice of roasted turkey with some mustard, or maybe a bit of cheese. (2-3 bites) afternoon snack is another protein shake DInner is sometimes caned chicken with cheese, or some refried beans with cheese Then evening snack is my Homemade pudding pops... (Sugar free pudding with double protein powder put in popscicle molds) What am I doingwrong!!???!!! -
Week 6: May 27-31st Sleevers

Ditto, hair coming out but I lost hair about 3 months after each of my children were born also. Something about the trauma of childbirth or surgery, it's a shock to your system. I've added hair, skin and nail Vitamins and hope it helps. SW 250, CW 212 I was hoping to be 200 or less by vacation tomorrow but my 3 week stall derailed me a bit. I am much smaller in inches and losing again so maybe I'll be in "onederland" when I return on the 28th. -

Feeling a little defeated, it's been 8 weeks and I have only lost 23 lbs. I had an unbearable 2-3 week stall but thankfully that's over. Trying to stay positive but it's hard when my expectations are so high. -
Feelling bad about not exercising...
Mstrosec replied to Goddardgo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First, the dreaded 3 week stall happens to everybody. I know that wasn't your question but thought I'd put that out there. ???? Secondly, walking an hour that soon out seems like a LOT. While walking is awesome and we all need to do it, I think you should start off a little less ambitious and work yourself up to doing more. For me, that would be too much and I wouldn't be motivated to go out there and do it again. Try just walking for 30 minutes and then build from there. Lastly, I'm almost 2 years out and I started working with a personal trainer at around 6 weeks out. I still work with him today. I needed that accountability. Someone who I knew was depending on me to show up. I also had that financial accountability that I was paying for a service. I do not think everyone should get a trainer, it's just what works for me. I also update my social media when I workout and it helps hold me accountable because my friends and family notice when I don't. It's also been helpful for them and a lot of friends have jumped on the fitness bandwagon...most have no idea I had surgery. Hope this helps. Good luck...you're going to do great! -
Do a search on here for "stall ". Your question has been answered a hundred times. There is actually a whole forum for this... "Don't Sweat the Stall Stuff" you should post this there and stay off your scale. You are in the infamous 3 week stall and the best way to end it is to stay off the scale. In the meantime, follow your doctor's plan and stay off the scale. Get in all your protein and water and stay off the scale!

This 3 week stall is really discouraging. What are others doing to get past it? -
Surgery for me was July 31st. Also down 16 lbs. I feel good. Walking each night after dinner. When I first got home from the hospital I could do 1/4 mile in 30 min. Woohoo tonight 3 miles in 45 min. I am so happy I had surgery! I know the 3 week stall should be coming up. I am grateful for others who have gone before me and posted of things to come so discouragement does not set in.

anyone REGRET the sleeve?
hrhlaurie replied to elpasovet's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree, the sleeve is a smaller stomach and helps you commit to losing weight. You can fill your little pouch with carbs and sugar if you aren't serious about being healthy and in shape. While this is working for me, someone else may not give it the same effort. I knew head hunger and eating habits could sabotage my efforts so in the weeks after surgery I began retraining my brain to think of Pasta and breads as unappetizing. Before surgery, I ate crap and gained back every pound I would lose on a diet. Now I eat Protein, take Vitamins and have lost enough weight that I feel good and even jogged a bit on a treadmill yesterday! I admit that I usually only wait 15 mins after drinking before eating and I still eat too fast probably but I take in 3 - 4 ounces of protein in a meal and I try all different types of meat and cheese combos to make it interesting. I think people have problems because they feel deprived and are still focused on foods they shouldn't eat. I just look at bowls of pasta, pizza or whatever and remember that I used to like them but now I love being healthy. My reward is looking better, not shopping in plus sizes ever again, improving my health and accomplishing a goal. My trainer told me yesterday that stalls or plateaus are necessary for the body to adjust to weight loss. Usually, during this time, you will lose inches and gain some muscle. Since I've just been in a 3 week stall, I needed to hear that. Muscle weighs more than fat so you may gain or lose a few pounds but be dropping fat for muscle. I have lost inches even when scale isn't moving so I need to be patient and just keep doing what I'm doing. If you worry about surgery, check out The World According to Eggface blog to see some awesome recipes and the story of someone who had surgery, changed her life for the better and eats well. -
And So Our Journey Begins...
MistyAnnMoon829 replied to MistyAnnMoon829's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It is possible. It seems to be the 3 weeks stall, it just hit me a little earlier than others. I get under 500 calories on average every day. But I don't have the room in my tummy to eat more! There's no way it could last forever though. Eventually it will have to break. Then it will be like a slide for awhile until the next stall, which if I have been paying attention correctly should be around 3 months. -

I am 29 years old, 5'6....sleeved July 22, 2014 weighing 216 pounds (Was 230 before pre-op diet) and today (Just shy of 3 weeks out) I weigh 201 pounds. I have hit the dreaded 3 week stall, but I notice myself getting ketosis mouth, so hopefully its about to start again. -
Once again I have been having bad days and have given into the sweets. I am really disappointed in myself. I need to just move on and get back on track, I have been at a 3 week stall and it is driving me nuts. My head is getting the best of me.

June 9th Sleeve - Looking for friends!
danaalonzo replied to IfICanDream's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi All. I was sleeved June 11th, 8 weeks and down a total of 35 including 2 week pre-op. I hit the dreaded 3 week stall and have hit another stall that has lasted 2 weeks. I have upped protein, added a few more carbs & nothing!!!! I am doing 30 minutes of cardio and 30 mins of weights 4 days a week. I just don't understand how we can stall so much with as little as we are eating and burning calories. Oh well, don't have a choice but to wait it out. Good Luck to everyone. Love reading your posts -
Post op 13 days....gaining weight?!
Kindle replied to bluesclues's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can you imagine how much happier everyone would be if no one stepped on a scale for at least one month after WLS? Two months would be even better to get past those "late" 3 weeks stalls. Everyone could just concentrate on healing and eating healthy and exercising because those things matter WAY more than the STUPID NUMBERS ON THE SCALE! -
And So Our Journey Begins...
MistyAnnMoon829 replied to MistyAnnMoon829's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Back at work today!! In the last 2 weeks that I had off I completely messed up my sleep schedule. I use to be asleep around 10 pm, but during my time off I starting staying up super late and sleeping in super late, so that mixed with back to work anxiety I didn't fall asleep until after midnight. I am a sleepy lady. And on top of that my alarm didn't go off. I just happened to wake up in time. Weighed in and no loss, no shock there, I seem to have a pattern of no loss for 2-3 days and then the scale dips down, and I know that 3 week stall is coming up here as well. I may not weigh myself for a full week, Ah who am I kidding of course I'm going to weigh in! I haven't "eaten" my Breakfast yet since I don't like to eat this early, I'll probably have my Protein in the next 3 hours. Though my tummy is feeling a little off today. I can't quite place it...I have my 2 week post op right after work. My co-workers decorated my desk for me, which was super sweet! Back to the grind, hope everyone is having a great day!
