Anxious Would Be An Understatement!
BBdoodle replied to SoccerMomma73's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I receoverd from RNY pretty quick where my sister took much longer. I think it all depends on the person. I was in the hopsital for 2 1/2 days. My surgery was on a Monday, come home wednesday and back to work the following Monday. I worked 1/2 days in the office and 1/2 at home for the 2nd week. By the 3 week I was ok to go back full days. -
Starting my journey
MrsGloMartin replied to Schwinngirl1987's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am doing well. I'm on day six of my pre-fast diet and I'm experiencing hi's and low's as is to be expected when you change the way you eat so suddenly. I'm having periods of energy burst where I feel like i can move mountains and then I'm feeling so hungry that I can eat a horse hoofs and all (lol). When I feel this way I'll either find something to do to occupy my mind or I'll go out for a walk. After all it is a lifestyle change that I have to adjust to if I wish to be successful in overcoming my addiction to food and obesity. One thing I did was to start eating less one week prior to the strt of my pre-op diet. It made it a little easier as my stomach had gotten used to not being full all of the time. Find something that works for you and try to stick to it because we are all on this journey together but what works for one person may not work for the other. All the best to you, God bless. -
Four Days Out....I Survived!!!
lmmore replied to knoxmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It might be your pylora...with this operation your digestive system works pretty much as it did before. The pyloric valve works and release food into your small intestines. You have a very new and tender stomach, and you can feel things more at first. All that gurgling as your new tummy gets used to things. For the first six weeks, it is a time for healing, and you're doing great with your liquids. It's great that you had no complications. Best of luck. Do what your doctor says, and you will be fine. Welcome to the losers bench. -
Exercise After The Band
Jenn1214 replied to sweetsoutherngirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was never a big fan of exercise...I have been banded almost a year and only just joined a gym two months ago :-( My fiance was just banded this week and his surgeon said no heavy lifting for 8 weeks and no ab exercises for 6 months. As soon as he's feeling up to it, I'm dragging him to the gym with me! It's really the best way to keep your weight loss steady and consistent. -
My eating plan was a little off for a few months (therfore my loss stalled!) so I am back on the horse. Right now I am eating Protein, veggies, low fat dairy and whole grains. I have been logging my foods in my journal, feel free to peruse. I will say my favorite dessert is what I call the frozen Peanut Butter cup. I take 1 sf ff fudgesicle, 1T natural PB and melt it in the microwave for a bout 15 seconds. Mix hat up and fold in 2T lite cool whip. Freeze it until ice cream consistency (or less if you want it to be like a mousse). It is so good and hits the sweet spot at night. My meals right now are a lot of salads with grilled chicken. I also love making fajitas and eating them without the tortillas, maybe adding some LF cheddar and light sour cream. So yummy! I marinade the chicken in some lime juice, cumin, cayenne & oil. Nice flavor if grilled with peppers, onions and garlic.

When was your last fill? Everyone hits that wall! It's normal. Don't get discouraged. Remember weather has an effect on band as well. In hotter weather you'll find yourself less hungry as you progess and have your fills. Keep in mind your body shouldn't lose more than a lb a day. That allows your metabolism adjust to weight loss, rapid loss only will lead to quicker gaining. You should be adjusted every three months in beginning. Don't get frustrated don't think your making mistakes your doing it right patients will perseverance and results. Keep the faith and contact me if I can help more sweetie!

Okay so I know you guys think I am the most bipolar person out there or something but I am starting to get in the swing of things. Thinking positive and I am not starving anymore. I have adapted to the initial shock and not ready to kill everyone in site that is eating anything good. Can you believe that there are chips and dip piled in the break room and I have not even been tempted!!! Big step for me I think. I am trying my best to not become a scale whore but I did weight today down 6.3 LBS I gotta fix my ticker but that was placed before I started having my last meal syndrome and gained it all back but I refuse to fix my ticker until I go below the amount it says! Its my ticker and I will do with it what I want! hehe. So it is getting better. It is getting easier TODAY at least find me tomorrow and I may be sitting in my car at sonic crying as I woof down a Super sonic cheese burger because these groupon adds on the side of the forum display three large cheese burgers!!!!! I am going to punch the computer if it shows up again. Anyway. Doing better Thanks for the words of encouragement yesterday! Hope all out there reading this are doing well too.

Betty, still some restriction, but not as much as last week. And like Michelle said, good restriciton make you not hungry and your not obsessed with food all day. (Just like last week) Oh, WONDERFUL FEELING! Can you imagine... fogetting to eat? But now the obsession is back... I wonder if its normal to gain, lose, gain, lose restriction like this. Im not PMSing, not under any stress... hmmmmmm Whatever it was, I liked it! BTW - Im going to make an appointment with Dr. Chung today.
-
I have had pretty good restriction for the last five weeks and haven't lost any weight at all its so frustrating, but in all honesty I had been eating way too much chocolate which I'm not now being really sensible (well trying lol!!). Hope your restriction stays for a good while, its such a good feeling not thinking about food the whole time. Helenxx.

Insight into "frustrating" success of pre op diet
Joann454 replied to GotProlactinoma's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm just feeling this way now. The first two-three weeks I felt hungry and discouraged. Now I have to force myself to eat (or at least remind myself to eat). I feel no deprivation. No struggle. This is awesome! -
for about 5-6 weeks post-op? I'm just curious as to whether to expect that, or if it's possible that my surgeon might let it go if I'm still losing weight at that point.
-
I love my band...don't get me wrong. I would never have made it this far without my little helper. But sometimes I get so frustrated. I know I have good restriction and I'm happy with that, but then WHAM! I got sick with the stuffy head, coughing achey stuff and my band closed up tight so I have to work at even getting my liquids down. When I had to get a bit of an unfill a couple weeks back, my fill doc said that me working nights 3-4 days (excuse me nights) of the week and then turning around to be a normal person of sleeping at night on my days off will keep my hormones on the upheaval quite a bit and hense...affects my band. It's a touchy little thing ain't it? But on the flip side...my goal was to get to 250 by my son's graduation from college. He's graduating on Saturday and I'm at 251.5 (on my scale AND the doctor's scale) so I count myself as having that goal. WHOOWHEE!

Congratulations! I think a lot of us have experienced fickle bands. I wolfed down a bowl of guacamole without any problem a few weeks ago, then got a nasty PB from salad the next day. Funny how it's never big helpings of salad that go down easy, it's always stuff like chocolate cake, ice cream, and tortilla chips.

I'm 7 weeks post-op and have lost 50 pounds since starting my pre-op liquid diet. Saw my primary care physician yesterday and he cut my blood pressure medicine in half. Woohoo! Also; saw my diabetes doctor last week and he took me off all of diabetes meds and said that I no longer have diabetes. Woohoo again! Thank you sleeve.

I'm trying to figure out where the port sight is, haven't been in for a fill yet. I thought it was where my scar is, but last couple days my side has been hurting up higher like right under my rib and feels all tight . I had been walking ok, but yesterday it hurt so bad I almost couldn't finish my walk. Keep hoping I'm just paranoid. Banded 12-28-10 still have 3 more weeks before I go back to the doctor.

I am 2 wks. post op Rachel so I know what you are going through. I have been very depressed this week. I don't know if it is the weather and being stuck inside or not being able to eat much anymore or a combination. But boy oh boy - I hope it passes soon. I go to the docs for my 2 wk post op appt. today so I will see if i lost or gained any more wt. It is stressful knowing you kinda have to answer to someone. and be accountable. Oh well. I will post later on my results. But Rachel please try to hang in there too and get past this difficult time - healing process of the band. Thing have to get better - right?

I can totally relate. I've heard the "are you suppose to be eating that??" comment too. I looked and I haven't lost any weight since Jan 4th I was banded dec 28th. I've been happy as long as I don't gain any weight during this time. I go for my first fill next week. I'm hoping they put enough in that I don't have to keep paying to go back all that often. I've thought about going back on the liquid diet for a week just to lose more weight before I go to the doctor, not sure it's worth it though. I was looking at pictures today and that's depressing to see no change in a month. All part of the process I guess. Just know you have friends on here knoebelcamper!!

Newbie! 12 month bariatric pre-surgery Education Requirement
Bootscraper replied to LMays's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Cova Care Virginia here!! I started my 12 month process back on 1/4/2018. I am working with St. Mary's surgery team in Richmond VA. So far all of the requirements have been a BREEZE. Considering that some other people's requirements have so many more tests involved I am super excited to be on the back half of approval. I just did my psych eval last week and got a glowing letter of reccommendation. -
I am scheduled for surgery on October 28. I'm self pay (in US, not in Mexico) and have my second appointment with my surgeon in a few days. The problem is that I have been gorging on food because I feel like I'm saying goodbye to a lifelong friend and habit. I'm so ashamed that I've gained at least 5 pounds and maybe more in a month and feel like the surgeon is going to be upset. Did any of you have any weight gain in the weeks before you started your pre-op diet?
