  2. Challenge Starting weight: 207 Current weight lost: 101lbs Losing or maintaining weight: Losing Fitness/exercise goal: 5-6 days a week, and I signed up for running my first Turkey Trot (Short one - 2 miles)! Total weight loss at the end of challenge: (Post January 1st 2019) 20lbs Check in: Tell us how you are doing - (How is your diet and exercise plan going? Any struggles? Stress level? What have you overcome? Any strategies that have helped) Struggles: tracking my food in a journal. I HATE IT but I think that is slowing my progress more than I want to admit. Also, my fur baby just passed away so I have been very down of late. I have been working out harder/more to keep my emotions in check. Also have regular appointments to manage the "soul".

    November 2018 Sleevers!?!?

Oh good, I am doing pretty well be binded up but aside from that as long as I coat my stomach before taking my vitamin I am good to go, getting ready to start purees, I am allowed today but they said it was ok to start tomorrow, I was really nervous and so my nut and dr said the best thing to do was get a can of progresso veg and beef cook it and then blend it and divide into 10 containers and use those as my starter meal, made it feel achievable so that is my plan! They also said to continue shakes and stuff so that I will do. Then they said take a spoonful and put it down ten do another and so forth they said don't be surprised if it is only a few bites before we feel full. Good luck everyone!

    Lap band removed!

Congrats on your LB removal! I know when I had mine removed, I felt much better physically. I chose not to get revision right away and did pretty well for about 5 years. Then life threw me some curve balls and I gained my weight back. I spent 2 years trying to do it on my own before I realized that I needed help. I got revision to sleeve on 4/10 and am very happy with my decision.

    September bypass buddies??

I am so impatient with my weight loss . I try not to be but when you are eating so little you expect it to just fall off. I have lost 42.2 total and 27.2 since surgery 9/10/18. I keep telling myself on average that is pretty good for 9 weeks post up. It's just to bad I can't lose it as easily as I can gain it...lol How is everyone else's weight loss since surgery?

    October 2018 Sleevers

I’m relieved to hear that I’m not the only one going through a frustrating stall so soon after surgery. I’ve been a little hard on myself because the scale hasn’t moved in 10+ days. My pcp took me off my thyroid medicine and I swear that has a big part in it because I’ve been feeling sluggish and a bit depressed. I wasn’t ready to be off my thyroid med yet, and it makes me angry. My numbers were low normal (just like when I was started on on my med). I get to have my thyroid levels retested on December 24th. So fingers crossed for good news
  9. I'll give it a go! Like Fluffy, I'm not great on follow through! Challenge Starting weight: 168.8 Current weight lost: 103.2 Losing or maintaining weight: losing Fitness/exercise goal: To get back to walking 7 days/week Total weight loss at the end of challenge: (Post January 1st 2019): ??? Check in: Tell us how you are doing - (How is your diet and exercise plan going? Any struggles? Stress level? What have you overcome? Any strategies that have helped) Well, had my sleeve converted to a bypass 2 weeks ago, so I'm pretty much starting over with all the food stages, ugh! Finally got off full liquids yesterday. Yeah! At least I can have a few bites of mashed potatoes at Thanksgiving.
  10. Hey folks, I figured I'd ask 2 burning questions I've had. I'm 8 days post op VSG. 1. Has anyone else had to do a TWO week CLEAR liquid diet post op? My surgeon doesn't even allow protein shakes, just clear liquids and I feel like I'm just not getting enough calories. I am getting 40g of protein with a protein water by isopure but clear liquids for 14 days is driving me nuts. 2. How much liquids can you drink? I honestly feel ZERO restriction when I drink liquids, and can easily get 8 to 10 ounces in comfortably in a few minutes. Is that normal and/or am I drinking too fast? I make sure to take small sips, I don't get gassy or "stuck" the way people describe. But I feel like I can ingest way more liquid than I'm supposed to. Thanks for any feedback
  11. I'm in! (At least for a day or 2... haha. Notoriously bad about follow-through on challenges. ) Challenge Starting weight: 148.4lbs Current weight lost: 138.6lbs Losing or maintaining weight: Losing!!!!! (slowly) Working on Goal#2 - 140lbs Fitness/exercise goal: Exercise 6-7 days per week with 3 days being strength building with bands Total weight loss at the end of challenge: (Post January 1st 2019) To Come Check in: Tell us how you are doing - (How is your diet and exercise plan going? Any struggles? Stress level? What have you overcome? Any strategies that have helped)--I'm starting the challenge strong. Very little stress heading into Thanksgiving. Don't have any worries about over eating or eating "the wrong things." Have an action plan to work through in order to stay on track. Am in the process of weaning off of my last BP drug, so that does represent a little challenge to me.

    Sleeve to Bypass Revision

About a month after my sleeve in December 2014 I had very bad acid reflux. I only lost about 45 pounds and could not loose anymore. I ram about 2 weeks out from my Gastric Bypass surgery done 10/30 and my acid reflux is completely gone.

    Anyone repulsed by sugar now?

I had surgery 10/22. I used to drink the Vitamin water zero, but now find them too sweet. Unsweetened applesauce is my sweetness limit so far. Sent from my SM-G930V using BariatricPal mobile app

We had our surgery the same day. I only lost 10 lbs since surgery. I gained 2 lbs and haven't lost anymore since last week. I'm going to try to weigh myself every Sunday now and not every day. I'm still on stage 2 liquid diet until Dec 4th Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    October 2018 Sleevers

Every doctor has their own food progression plan for their patients so I'm not sure if you are eating too much or not but I do know you are not alone in the stall. My surgery date was 10/29 and I haven't lost any weight in 8 days and I'm only down 8lbs since the 29th. It's frustrating especially since my program seems to be one of the stricter ones. (I only get three small meals - 2 oz. - per day and three 8oz. Protein shakes) but I keep telling myself there is no turning back now and eating like this, there's no way this stall can last forever. I asked our nurse about it and she said for the first 4-6 weeks, the body is focused on healing more than weight loss and things will pick back up. I hope she's right and not just trying to appease me for the time being.

I had my VGS surgery on 10/26. I have not lost any weight for 13 days. I am just starting soft foods and I try to eat between 5-6 meals a day and I have about 2 oz at each meal. Am I eating too much?

    Liver Shrink Diet

I am on Day 10 of my 2 week liquid diet and think it has gotten easier as I go. When the water gets tough to drink I add a little flavoring to it (crystal light) and it helps. My surgeon also allows cream of what or oatmeal. The first few day were the roughest. Good luck.

Looking for other Anthem Blue Cross PPO experiences.

I wouldn’t expect changes when 2019 rolls in since this is a recent update, but make sure you keep tabs on it just to be sure! 👍🏻

I was cleared for any food I wanted - even beef - at 2 weeks. The irony of this is... all food tastes like crap to me. I am living on crushed ice and a bite or two from a very short list of food that doesn't make me want to puke at first sight. 🤢 My surgery was on 10/08 and I am down 25 lbs.
  21. Thanks for sharing! My story is so similar to yours. I was scared to face my surgeon bc I thought I had failed. By the time I went back, my surgeon had been retired for years. I started off with a new one making aggressive folks and it worked. Unfortunately one two many times of throwing up bc of crazy restriction and I had a major slip. The bad was removed immediately. I thought I could do it by myself but eating just what doesn’t get stuck in the Band doesn’t translate to real life, sustainable eating. I gained it back this last year. I was sleeved on 10/22-almost 1 year exactly from my band removal.

    Non Scale Victories

Bow ties are cool!!! I just had a size 10 dress zip up on me. Still a little snug and will need some shape wear for the belly but holy hell it zipped. It’s for a wedding in January. The second look my Mr gave me was hysterical when I asked him if it looked okay to be his arm candy. All needed because the scale I swear is stuck at 200.8-201.8... still

    November 2018 Sleevers!?!?

Update: My family took to me to the ER on Saturday and after running X-Rays, CT-Scans and lots of blood work and cultures, they found that there was extreme inflammation of my colon and determined that I had contracted C. Diff (Clostridium difficile). They believe the antibiotic that was given to me during pre-op altered the balance of the good bacterial in my gut, thus allowing C. Diff to multiply and make me ill. This is not common. Took awhile to find the right balance and dose of pain medicine to manage my pain, they put me on a lot of fluids (and potassium) as well as started treatment for the C. Diff. The first round of treatment is 10-days of antibiotics and being quarantined. They kept me in the hospital for five days and began my treatment on the 2nd day once the cultures came back positive. I was kept on clear liquids only for the three days in the hospital and then they allowed me to progress to the Bariatric High Protein Liquid. My dietician was awesome and brought me all the protein supplements and such to keep me going while in the hospital. I am home now, yet still quarantined. A lot involved with that (including a lot of bleach). I'm staying on track with my post-op diet and today will be the first day that I'll actually reach my liquid and protein goals (which is exciting). I'm not allowed in the kitchen so I am relying on others to make my food. So far so good - but like someone else posted, I am getting tired of all the sweets. Please pray that this initial round of treatment will work and that there will be no need for a round two. The doctor told me that it's a much more intense treatment and lasts for 30-days. Yikes. I weighed myself today and the scale shows that I'm down 7-lbs from surgery date of 11/7/18. I'm happy with that loss considering everything. I can't help but wonder if next week will be a bigger loss once I get all these fluids from the hospital out of me. Seven days admitted in the hospital total - that's a lot of fluids! Unjury Chicken Soup Protein Powder - I lived off that while in the hospital. I really enjoyed it and had no issues with it. They key is to make sure the temperature of your liquid is no hotter than 140-degrees. I use a thermometer and then found that from boiling to sitting, that's about 5 minutes for 1 cup of water. As long as your not gulping and sipping slowly you should be fine. I actually use baby spoons to help me take small bites. I hope that helps, because that is my favorite protein supplement that is on the savory side. That's all for now. Going to take a nap and try and recover from this infection!

How long did you wait before dating again?

I'm not single, but I would say that by 6 months out your eating should be mostly stabilized, and you should be able to buy some nicer clothes you can wear on your dates (without worrying about them being too big on you very shortly). As for drinking, I drank my face off last weekend, and it went about the same as it would have prior to the surgery (with the added bonus that I had a lot more energy and wasn't yawning by 10 pm).

    July Gastric Bypass?

I had my RNY on 7/10/18. have lost 55 lbs so far. But I have noticed that because I have no restrictions, except apples, I can eat about anything. I get backed up. So I gain 1-2 lbs and than bam. Lost 3. This fluctuation and stalls get so depressing sometimes. But I move forward and look for those BAM!!! moments. I do not regret my new pouch. In fact I enjoy having more time to do crafts and not looking in the cupboard for food and snacks all the time. Great job to all those July surgery peeps. Great weight loss.!!!
