Minor NSV. I went to the doc, and my blood pressure is 102/60, with a resting heart rate of 53. Not bad for someone who who was in full hypertension mode in March.

I LOVE this topic! Read every one and cheering for everybody! For me, I literally walked out of a pair of jeans. My heel caught on the hem and they came right down off me. Down a size already! And I'm having a surge of energy in spite of having zero caffeine (I was addicted to Diet Coke pre-surgery.) Got up at 5:30 this morning and cooked eggs for me and hubby (he was shocked, LOL) then took the dogs on a mile-long walk. Can't wait to see what NSVs the next weeks and months bring.

    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

Hi all! I..am..so..darn..busy..that..I..can't..even..breathe (seems like). D - I am so envious, part of my busyness is trying to juggle a 120 hour internship with teaching full-time + taking a class. I would positively kill to give one of the three "jobs" up. Well..not really kill, after all that's pretty bad form for a nurse, but..you know what I mean. Good job on continuing to run. I am impressed. HP - Happy Dance time!! Your NSVs over the past 2 weeks are so motivating! Pix are great and I love, love, love your purple jersey. What awesome weather for riding!! Going to use the bike as my transportation this week. Pray for no rain during commuting time. I can't do a thing with my hair on a good day - let alone after an outdoor shower! Take care all, have a great week - full of wheels, sunshine and tailwinds! KY
  4. there are so many responses I want to give to each of you, but emotionally am drained. tucker had LAR-PAR surgery this afternoon. He came out all right, but postop problems of bleeding and infection are still possibilities. Unfortunately, he is not out of the woods. They found he has a hiatal hernia (between esophagus and stomach...probably all u nurses already know that:closedeyes:) and he would be at high risk of regurging into his lungs and getting aspiration pneumonia. so he will have abdominal surgery on tuesday to correct that. so please, once again, cross all those appendages for the boy...god bless him, he is the sweetest guy and is being very stoic through all this...not so much for the mother. I am a mess. hello to you all...congrats on losses, tatts, nsv's, etc. glad to see some lately absentees back....i will update in a couple of days.
  5. So...just got back from Anchorage...I didn't have good access to the internet and I don't have the time/patience to read everything that I've missed...I hope nothing BIG, but if there was something big I expect that someone will fill me in. So I had my second fill on Wed. afternoon. Put another 1.0 cc in = 2.5cc. I didn't feel any restriction and that afternoon I was able to eat a baked potato and small salad (Wendy's has internet access so I was there for a few minutes checking some email.) :huytsaoI called him and said that I'd like more so I went back in on Fri. and got another .5 cc put in. he did a check and pulled it all out to make sure there wasn't a leak and it all looked good. :)So now I HAVE RESTRICTION! And GOOD restriction at that! I was getting a little jealous that everyone was only eating a little bit and I could eat...well, more than that. So now I've been cut off! Now, I just have to get over the "head hunger"! :hungry:I had lunch with a friend the other day and we had chicken legs and salad. I got through the salad, had two bites of chicken and got stopped up! I had a real hard time with having food still on my plate and I hadn't eaten that much! I even picked at it for about 15 minutes, but just got more and more uncomfortable so finally I stopped. Carbonation doesn't bother me though (tried a diet Coke yesterday and was fine, but I didn't drink it fast either). So, maybe I'm on my way? We'll see. I head off for my cruise in a few weeks and I definitely won't feel all sexy, but definitely better about myself.:biggrin1: OH.....NSV! I went to get some jeans (mine are FALLING off of me) and I had to go down TWO sizes! It was AMAZING! I felt good having to go back to the racks for a SMALLER size!:clap2::whoo:

I had to fly to Penn this past weekend for my son's college graduation. The person that had the plane seat before me had the seatbelt expanded as far as it could go and I thought about when I needed it there too, then I cinched it in about 15 in! My son has not seen me since I started this bariatric journey and his response was "Gee Mom, you are so skinny!" And, the NSV I planned for just in case it happened...I ran into the ex and his wife (I've never met her before) and I was looking pretty damn good and smaller than her! Not that I really care what either of them think about me but it did make me feel good for a moment!

I have some shoes, bought them either a day when I'd taken an I bet dose of basic or early in the day before standing up at work. Another lady said her feet went down to in width and a shoe size, want to rock these shoes even if they aren't F M heels. What to know What, Does FM stand for? Okay you come out of bathroom or bedroom clad in a pair of very high heels nekkid, you look at the man in your life and utter a 2word phrase. Yeah that is what very high heels are called, like 3in.+. nasty but the truth. Why at 72 would I put on something that if I fall, and it's 8 to 5 I will, give me floor burns on not-exposed to the sun areas. And any guy my age is either going to die from a heart attack, stroke or blindness from the glare off of all this white flesh. Yeah another reason, for me to,lose weight, I'm keeping the male half of life from such a traumatic death. Yes men , you're perfectly welcome, I feel it's the least I can do. Not the usual NSV you're looking for, but I do what I can do!👈😜👉

NSV - I'm weaning off my antidepressants! This is directly related to my surgery, eating better, and exercising. I have so much ENERGY and life is full of hope and potential. It's no longer a drag. I'm so excited at the possibility of being med free!

    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

Oh and another thing. I have a niece who's 20. She hasn't seen me since I was banded. All her life she's been told she looks like me, but all her life I've been obese. Well today she freaked out when she saw me. Not just wow, you look great joy that I'm getting pretty frequently, but "Holy COW, you look like ME!" Our hair is about the same color and length too, so I pulled it down... it was a cute NSV. If I only had her body and youth! She's built, as they say. Okay, now studying for real.
  11. Hi girls! Ok, I'm having a great day with SV's (scale victories) and NSV (non-scale victories) and wanted to share! 1: I'm on day 5 of my walk/jog workouts and I feel great! I have more energy after working out and my workouts seem to go by faster because I'm mixing it up! 2: It's been exactly one week from my first fill and I weighed today and....I lost 4.2 lbs this week! 4.2!!! That's nuts! I'm so excited and proud! 3: This is huge to me...I've been updating my ticker since I went to orientation in November and today when I edited it I saw that I'm now over half way to my goal! 62 lbs down and 60.5 to my skinny goal! I've been checking everytime and it's gotten closer and closer and now it's there! I'm officially on the downhill part of my weight loss and that feels so good. I've lost more than 50% of my excess weight loss. YAY! Anyway, I had to share my awesome news for today. I just grilled 3 oz of fish and had 2 tbsp of fruit and I'm so STUFFED. That's still such a trip to me that I am getting full on so little and such healthy food. Very very excellent. Hope you're all having a great day too!

I have had many NSVs in the last 6 months since my surgery: Not worrying about fitting in the seats at the amusement park TUCKING IN MY SHIRT...I've never actually done that Having my kids arms go the whole way around when they hug me New clothes, new shoes Riding bike again after 10+ years Feeling proud I am almost 6 months post-op. No regrets, only wish I had done it sooner!

So I’ve been struggling with my longest slow/stall and feeling frustrated. Adding in that yesterday I went to use my recumbent bike and I was exhausted after 7 minutes when last week I did 35 with no problem. I put on a shirt I bought 2 months ago that was tight in the arms/shoulders but today didn’t strain one bit (wohoo bat wings!). Add in that my size 14 dress pants from Lane Bryant are hitting the loose phase became a very much needed NSV. Now today the sun is out and I’m hoping to work in the yard when I get home from work.

    March 23 buddies yet?

I had the bypass on 3/16 and have only lost 16 total. From what I've seen, that's technically low-average for bypass patients with a 300 lb starting weight. I don't really care though because I know it'll come off. I'm meeting my protein and water goals and walking 1-2 miles per day. Something's gotta give, you know? I think a lot of us are just primed to hold onto weight until the bottom gives out. But I will say the non-scale victories are something to celebrate! I can sleep through the night now, my high BP has reversed, no more GERD to manage. Hopefully you have some nsv's to look forward to. I made a list of 15 things I look forward to from this surgery that can't be 'found' on a number on a scale. I made the list for this exact scenario - when you feel like you've stalled or get discouraged. If you don't have one, I definitely recommend making one. Hopefully that helps!
  15. Hey y'all, been busy. TRhis is off wls topic but I'm reading a book called The Total Money Makeover. Talk about convicting. Lol. My husband and I are going strictly cash again. So we cut up all our credit cards last night. 😁 Was it scary? Nope. Was it freeing? Absolutely!!! Why we even bothered to bring them back in to our lives, well....this author gets down to the nitty gritty of habits and lies that we were led to believe. Anyway, I'm glad about it. Now on to wls, my fat feels more jelly like. Not as dense anymore. Maybe it's more skin than fat now. ??? Just feels weird, but good. I didn't think I would struggle with this, since being overweight for less than a decade, but sometimes I just don't see the change. I have to snap out of it and remind myself it's happening. So, maybe I should start listing nsv's on a paper and post it somewhere as a constant reminder. I think in a couple of months, it'll be easier for me to accept it.

Only 3 more days in my casual office. A great NSV for me today. Size 28 Levi skinny jeans. I wore these 6 years ago when I was at my lowest before my gain. I went shopping in my to small Jeans tub and all of them fit. Have a great day ladies.
  18. I know, it's that amazing?? Hey Girlie! 37 days!!! Enjoy your last week of Last Suppers! Welcome to the Loser's Bench! Move over everyone!!! The good thing about the band is that as we lose, our butts get smaller thus making more room on the Bench to Welcome More Losers! You're a Bandito Now! I remember having a strange feeling in my stomach, but it improves rather quickly! I noticed recently that I can cough and not feel that odd port discomfort. I don't even know I have a band -- until I eat some really dry leftover chicken!! Good Luck Sleeping -- that was my hard part after banding. I am a tummy sleeper. I slept reclined on the sofa for a week or more! I'm addicted to Celery with the Whole Foods Natural chunky 365 Peanut Butter. It is so good! A perfect snack! I hate TOM!!! BUT yes! He can do the surgery! You'll do fine! It might even happen earlier for you. Others say that weight loss and stress changes your cycle a little. I know mine has changed. Maybe you'll lose some weight with your pre-op and you'll get it earlier than expected! A girl can dream, you know! That would be great! I wish my sister would get a band. Tracy, I've seen your posts before on other forums. Nice to see you here! You know it Girl! The Band is a miracle! I have been struggling with my PMS -- "The PMS that never ends, it just goes on and on my friend!" -- yuck! BUT I weigh every morning and graph my weight. I noticed this morning that my weight trend is continuing in the right direction with lots of ups and downs... but trending down. The Band is doing it! Hey Deb!!! shout out to you!!! AND Tucker! I'm glad that little guy is eating and enjoying life again! You're a good Mom! Shelbi!!! Oh Where Oh Where is My Shelbi? Lifesaver? Are you there? Let's plan a date for our RR group in October. Mal! 6 days to our 5K! Brandy!! Are you ready? My daughter and I are so excited! I am walking for my Grandma and for my friend Sandra! I missed them and think of them often!!! Woofay?? Where the heck are you, Woman!!!??? Lap, I know you're taking your time, I miss you and pray you're doing well. Love you Woman!! Munchie, Did your check ever get there on Friday? I hope you're sleeping right now! You worked last night, didn't you? Marcy! I'm sorry, but I must ask you this -- can you see Russia from your house? (just a question, I'm so confused!) Bahotmamma! Have you had our - "Willie Nelson's Peach Cobbler" ice cream lately? Bella, how's it going? You have had your band now for 71 days! AMAZING! Can you imagine how fast time flies? Dorkable! If you do come to hang out with Denvergirl in the Hot Tub, can I join you? NSV for me, I worked 4 in a row, Busy Busy Busy 4 - 12's and I walked out of that hospital last night feeling human! I am so blessed with this band and with a new lease on life! Guys remind me of this often! We all need to remember how blessed we are to be on this journey to good health! I'm sorry if I forgot anyone! I'm human and I do make mistakes frequently! Hey!!! I just realized today is my 8 Month Bandiversary!!!
  19. Had the most fun potluck tonight. The theme was "game meat". Now, don't get me wrong here, I usually don't like game meat all that much...I've learned to prepare moose well enough that you really can't tell...anyhoo....you all know that I've had some issues eating meat (it easily gets stuck) so I was a little leary of the fair so I brought some spaghetti with moose-meat sauce because I know I can eat THAT. Here is what else was offered - and went down well! Sweet and sour Musk Ox (that meat really was GOOD!) Baked salmon (now, you KNOW that was good) Moose meat balls Seal meat on rice (quite "gamy", but the texture was fantastic) Sauted goose meat with onions Dried salmon strips (my kids love these) Lots of moose salami-type stuff Tundra berries with sweetened condensed milk (blueberries, cranberries, salmonberries, etc.) My FAVORITE is a moose-sausage stuffed with olives and jalapenos - I usually hate jalapenos, but this is sooooo good! It was fun to try all these new things (and there were SEVERAL more dishes that I didn't mention - these people really know how to do a pot luck I tell ya!) Iditarod is coming...time to visit folks! NSV: I wrapped a REGULAR towel around myself today...not a bath sheet!

I have my performance review today and decided to dress professionally. And I figured out why my selfies here were so bad - I was standing too far back from the mirror and it was goofing up the perspective. I used to have to stand that far to fit into the mirror. NSV!

Am having friends over for drinks on the deck tonight. No worries about mosquitoes here at the moment so you’d be safe @GreenTealael but frost bite is a distinct possibility. Brrrr. Not an OOTD, more a NSV I wanted to share. Yesterday I was putting on some opaque tights & I realised I was standing & bending over to put them on. I used to have to sit down & physically lift one leg up & place it over the other just to pull one leg on. Happy dance.
  22. Yup LA we are just more Fluffy than others! I'm glad you're going to do some measuring! You will not regret it! I hope you can make it to the BBQ too! I was in the office this afternoon, but I didn't get a fill. I still have pretty good restriction from my last fill AND I've lost 17 lbs in the last month. It was so nice to see Natalie, Marilyn, Mary and the Good Doctor K! When I got there, they had me fill out this information sheet about my eating. I loved being able to write on there that I work out 30 mins a day, 7 days a week! The first time in my life, I was able to write that!!! I'd call that a huge NSV!
  23. Had my 3rd fill today ladies. I'm actually sitting here (FREEZING!) in the Denver airport right now waiting on my flight back to the MUCH WARMER East Coast. My fill today was 1.05cc (strange amount, I know) bringing me to a total of 5.25cc in a 10cc band. I can't tell a difference right now, but I've been in such a bad mood lately about my mediocre weight loss. I mean, I am not even recognizing a huge NSV for me this week. I went to San Diego this week before my Denver trip to visit my best friend, and while there, I went to Lane Bryant shopping and I bought a pair of jeans that was one size smaller than the ones I was wearing - and they fit! I should be happy about this right? Wrong! :cursing: Instead, all I can obsess about is the fact that I've only lost 18lbs in a little more than 3 months and I feel like the biggest failure on the freaking planet. I'm not eating right, I'm not exercising, it's my own damn fault and I still can't manage to do a damn thing to help myself out! You get out of it what you put into it, and all I'm doing is shoving the wrong things in my mouth and sitting on my fat arse! :frown::cursing: *sigh* OK, sorry I just had to vent. :frown:
  24. Have to be out of the house early today, I had my husband wake me up at 5am to workout. I woke up feeling pretty good actually. Not too tired or sluggish. I did my workout video, showered, and then got my girls up to get ready. I'll be focusing on my fluids once again today. In fact, I need to do this everyday. I won't worry about what I'm not eating, but what I may not be getting in fluid wise. I had an awful dream that my throat was so dry and I couldn't find a store to get a drink. Now, I'm pretty sure that dream was because my throat was pretty dry last night!!!! It was awful. I don't want a dream like that again. LOL Water it is today!!! OH....as I was working out in my pj's (best part of not having to go anywhere), my bottoms slipped down! LOL NSV!!! Ya'll have a blessed day! I'll check back in later.
