    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

Well, I did it. I consumed an entire Taco Bell Naco Grande platter. By.My.Fucking.Self. No, I did not need it. No I did not need it. No I did not need it. Although, before banding I would of consumed mine plus hubbys and then some of DD and then maybe some tacos on top of that....with mexi fries and a huge ass drink. So, I guess I am still up and up from before banding. One NSV I had the other day at grocery store. I ran into an old friend and haven't seen her in about a year. She says, "looks like you lost some weight".....hell, I was happy that someone noticed.... I could of kissed her...on the mouth....with some tongue....(just kidding, just had to throw that in for you J!!, and the guys)

    Nsv

yesterday I went to my pcp for my fasting blood sugar testing (diagnosed pre-diabetic july 06) while talking to the doctor he suggested that I might be able to get off of metiformin (sp) if my a1c's were still looking good. I guess the last ones were good. I was excited and then the nurse called this morning and confirmed that I was to discontinue the meds. that my A1C's are doing much better. 5.4. this after 3 months following surgery I am happy. :bounce:

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Good afternoon, Violets.. Ethan is napping, the dogs are at the groomers and I have a few minutes to catch up in here. Went to the new store opening today. I picked out a couple of sweaters, but put them back cause Ethan was getting fussy and I didn't want to wait in the longggggggggg line to check out. I'll wait until I have some time without Ethan so I can take my time and enjoy shopping. I had a NSV today. Took my glitzy ring in to have them remove the diamonds to put in the new ring and a pendant. They wanted to know if the size was right on my old ring and I said it spun around a lot. They sized my finger and it's a 4.5!!! Same size as when I got married 38 years ago!!!!! We've had snow showers on and off all day so I guess winter won't be too far off. I still have tons of leaves to rake in the front yard, but it's too windy and wet today. Got to have a day where we can rake AND burn. Terry... ditto on what Michelle said. Take care of you and the weight will come off when you can focus on it more. There are more important things for you to consider right now. Just make sure you get your protein in during the day. Going to go relax on the couch a bit before we have to go pick up the dogs. We're going out to dinner at some friend's house tonight. Hope it's something I can eat!! Patience, Trust and WWJD??!!
  4. Hi there, I have never posted on this thread but I definitely qualified for it as I was over the BMI of 50 when I was banded in April this year. I have had a great time reading the posts on this thread and am encouraged by so many of you. I wonder if I qualify more for the "slow losers unite" though. I am 7 months out from surgery and have lost 55 lbs. I have a long way to go and am hopeful for many nsv's and more lbs lost too. Some of my idols post on this thread (hi Insub and Losinjus!!!) and many more of you have become my idols since reading through these posts. I just wanted to say hello and how are ya, to introduce myself to this thread. I am married (not always happily) with 2 teenage boys and I work as a police dispatcher nights. I have struggled with my weight all my life and hate to hear I have a pretty face (so what!!! so does most of America!!). I am looking forward to the day that next to my weight it no longer says MORBID! How's that for a descriptor! Hi, I'm Morbid what's your name?? Thanks for the smiles today reading your posts, I look forward to many more! Ciao Bellas! kt

    TLBC Bandsters!

Those NSVs are really important, too. And they can really lift your spirits during the weight loss journey. Congratulations, ladies, on your weight loss.

    TLBC Bandsters!

Hey Doddie; I think you are looking at my overall number of 64 lost... Since banding I've lost 24 (JUl 11th)... I am getting more pleased with my progress as I weighed myself today and yest. and was down a tad each time. I wish I wasn't in the mindset that if the scale is down its a good day.... argh!! it is such a trap. So I took the advise of another bandster that I met at Tlbc and she said (she's lost 75lbs) take your measurements regularily and forget the scale. So I did this morning and I couldn't beleive my waist measurement!!! 38" it was at 45" at one point so I have made significant progress.. even my neck measurement has changed. I need to focus on the NSV's more than the weight. My mini goal for this wk is NO chocolate.... if I really need something sweet, I'll have 5 prunes instead = 94 cals and is good source of fibre (but not too much hee, hee) Have a great day

    NSV (Non Scale Victories)

I'm excited about having two NSV's on the same day. I put a ring on that I haven't worn in 20+ years and it fits comfortably. Then, for the second, and even more exciting NSV, I have a blouse on today that is an XL, that's right, not 3X, not 2X, not 1X, but XL and it's not even tight! I love my band!:nervous Sue

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Good evening, Violets.... Just in from the hot tub. It's raining outside so I'm wet from head to toe, but it sure feels good. My knee and achy body are feeling back to normal. Ethan comes in the morning for the day. Kat... loads of prayers headed your way for surgery on Friday. Wish we could all be there to hold your hand. Just know we all will be waiting to hear how everything went and will be anxiously waiting for you to get back to us!! Pamela.. your Turkey joes sound delicious!! Suzie... congrats on the NSV!! Those are always just what we need to keep motivated! Michelle.. Hope you get a good night's sleep tonight. Everyone else have a restful evening and tomorrow is a new day!! Patience, Trust and WWJD??!!!

TracyK-- That is so awesome. You must be so proud of yourself. Thanks for being an inspiration to me. I have a goal to reach for and that is to be as deligent as you. I have an NSV, Today we left Helena and stopped in Billings at the Harley Davidson store. Told hubby we could get him a t-shirt form there. I found a grey hooded sweat jacket and tried it on. Very snug but fit. It's a 3X. I haven't worn a 3X in about 20 years. My husband was more excited than I was. I had the lady cut the tags off and I wore it out of the store and all the way to our next hotel. Stopping in at Sturgis tomorrow, wonder what I will find there. This is so cool to be able to go into stores and wear stuff off the rack. I'll miss ordering from the catalog. Hubby's waiting for spring so he can get the Harley back out to ride. Driving to Sioux Falls tomorrow and will spend the night there and than the next day it should take us about 7 hours to get home. I'll be glad. I miss the comforts of home. But I have to admit that we are having an excellent time. Didn't know what to expect with traveling with my sister-in-law and her husband. We have just clicked and we've laughed and told stories an have really enjoy each other. Oh, forgot to mention that we had our first up closs snow for the year. Although I couldn't get hubby to stop so I could throw a snowball at him. It was really beautiful seeing everything cover. The trees were so pretty. Everyone have a great day, :clap2:

    Road to "TWOterville"

OK, 7 month check up today and down a few more lbs. Not a lot mind you but at least I am not gaining. I love listening to all of the daily struggles and NSV's and hope to have my own to share soon. As of now, I am still wearing the same clothes I did wear, they are loose but not falling off of me. I just want it faster than I am getting it, who doesn't right??? So.......lets just keep on keepin' on and wish the best for every single one of our fellow bandsters! I am established in twoterville and hoping to someday get to Onederland. Ciao Bellas!! KT
  12. Just like the before and afters, but for NSVs??? Thanks! http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f17/nsv-non-scale-victories-36449/

    NSV (Non Scale Victories)

I went to the drs. yesterday and realized, while sitting in the waiting room, that my butt didn't fill the entire seat. Then, while at my sister's house, my butt didn't fill her entire seat either. YEAH!!! I love love love NSVs! Oh, and I lost enough weight that the dr. will consider doing something that he wouldn't do 70lbs ago....Best day ever!!! Rain

    NSV (Non Scale Victories)

It's been a bad habit 2 weeks; not the best food choices, some WRONG choices, etc. Had TOM last week. Anyway, I 'knew' that I was up on the scale. So I stayed away. Big chicken that I am. Dad saw me yesterday and said "So...how are you feeling? How is the weightloss?" Told him I haven't weighed. But his asking me, made me think "Do I LOOK fatter?" So this a.m., I weighed. Down another 1.5. I coudln't believe it. So, my NSV was weighing less than I thought I would!!!
  15. WOOOO HOOOO!!! congrats to both of you on your NSVs!!
  16. I love NSV's. When they happen to you, it's so wonderful. It's cool that we have something to call them too. I had one yesterday. I usually catch the train to work and I walk down the stairs (it's a split-level train) one at a time. (i.e. step, bring the other foot next to the first foot, step again). Yesterday, I noticed that I just walked straight down them like normal people step-step-step. When did that happen? Also, I looked in my car mirror today and I felt that my face definitely looked different - and better. I almost thought I looked pretty for a second. Oh, another train one. It used to be that no one sat next to me on the train but I've noticed now, people are starting to sit next to me and I'm not the last one with a spare seat next to me. Naturally, I prefer a seat to myself but it's nice all the same. Oh and yet another train one. I used to go through the biggest turnstile (the one for people with babies) but now I go through the regular one and don't scrape the sides. It seems that this week, I'm finally starting to notice that I have lost weight.
  17. I had a NSV (non scale victory) this past week. During my training session, I bent over from a standing position and tied each of my shoes. I cannot tell you the last time I was able to stand and tie my shoes. I am amazed at the little things that I had lost and did not know it until I am able to do them again. Look out booths in restaurants...here I come...lol. Lesson learned...celebrate every victory:whoo: Happy banding all, Mary

    NSV (Non Scale Victories)

    AWESOME NSV'S everyone!!!!!!:clap2:
  19. Thanks girls, it is so good to be back! I missed you all so much---things would come up and I wanted to tell you, to laugh with you, vent to you!!! But I survived it, we ended up with hundreds of pounds of pecans, that I will ultimately end up with very little of (little being in the hundred pound range!) Rick and I do all the work and MIL wants to share them with all the kids, and grandkids and church family----and in the end, that is fine. I would like to have had some say and fun in sharing them, but it is ok. No snakes this year, but a couple of spiders the size of saucers!!! Barn spiders---ugly! Debbie is doing so well following her transplants. She lives a hundred miles away from the hospital, so she would have had to travel to and from 3 X a week---in addition to the time and expense, the bounce from that much travel was discouraged, so she is staying in a hosp. sponsored apartment for about a month. Plus being a house parent as she is, and you know kids and illness! This week is the first time since she was a child she has not been on insulin! Her kidney function was so bad that in the week prior to the transplant, she was only allowed a small amount of fluid, because she was only passing about a cup of urine a day. The first day following surgery, she had over 3 liters!!!! Amanda---so glad all went well for you! At least you don't have to worry about a record or anything!!! Judy, you poor thing---falling down the stairs sounds much funnier than it really is. Last winter I had a fall you would have had to see to believe, unfortunately Rick DID see it!!! I had my exercise ball in the LR (teach me to put things back up!), and when I walked by it my robe grabbed it, they are so rubbery so you don't slip on them you know, well it caused it to trip me, I fell ON the ball, and bounced myself half way across the LR!!!! I was so shocked all I could do was laugh, Rick jumped up---saw me laughing and busted out laughing!!! Manda said she would have paid good money to have seen it! Still makes me laugh to think of how fast it happen!! Jane, sorry about your experience with the ALS patient--poor thing. I know a woman, she is actually a good friend of a good friend....she is suffering with it, and her husband was killed in a motorcycle wreck a week and a half ago. She is totally unable to move, and is slowly losing her ability to swallow, our friend said---I cannot imagine. Such a horrible disease. Hugs to you for making time for her, and giving her the dignity we all deserve! Denise--it may be an old wives tale---but it has proved out with our kids, and grandkids, but we were told that anything over 140 BPM in a fetal heartbeat, usually indicates a girl! How exciting! Our son is actually talking about another baby---scary thought!! Jenn---so sorry about your Aunt. It is never easy---and when it is a favorite, it really hurts, I am so sad for you. Terry---so tell us, when you go to these bead shows are the beads like floating from all you bead addicts drooling over them??!! It sounds like fun, sensory overload! I like the textures I have seen in beads lately. I am sure they have always been that way, but until you, I never paid any attention to beads!!! Laura, I think I just assumed (yeah I know) that when I sent you the list, that you would have my name & info since I said I wanted to do it---but yes I do! Haydee---glad you are home! TracyK--You better start bellowing from the rooftops and keeping us apprised of your dropping weight, I for one need the motivation!!! I am praying the surgery gets me back on track! Man you should see how this thing has grown---OMG I am starting to look deformed! Tracy--step parenting is never easy, but when you succeed it is better than I know how to tell you! My kids, are just that, my kids. I would throw myself in front of a train for the ones that grew in my heart as well as the one who grew in my womb. You are starting full time with him at a difficult age, but it sounds as though even though he would never admit it, he is starving for affection, and attention. I believe you have received excellent advice, all I can add, is a little hint, I received once from an old neighbor. She suggested when my kids were acting up, to mention to her on the phone something they had done (good), when they could hear, but to act like I didn't know they could. So one day when Lenny was acting like a typical teen and sulking, I was on the phone with her, and told her how shocked and happy I was that he had taken the trash out without me nagging. He was moping in front of the TV, but well within earshot. I went on to say I wish he was happier, he was such a good kid, then went on to talk about other things, never mentioning the conversation to him. To this day I have never had to ask him to take out trash again. I used it with all my kids, when I felt they needed a little pat on the back, and were not going to just accept it----I bragged about them to friends, mentioned great things about them--and they take notice! He is going to need a firm hand and loving arms, and lots of prayers---you will have mine! You could not pay me to be that age again!! Michelle---I have not gone to look at the houses, I was afraid I was too late to vote, and will be happy with whatever---I just wanna go! Congrats on the NSV!! Pamela--hope your meds are kicking in and you feel better! I missed talking to you guys so much---I probably would have called everyone, but we are so rural, even phone service was a no go! And with 80 acres needing tended, cows to sell, and pecans to deal with---time was not in excess to go to where we could call! We did take off for our anniversary. We shopped! We bought an awesome hide/leather rug! Will try to get a picture of it. I know it will not be to the taste of everyone, but we like it!!! Gina---what's new girl? Kelly---will get an email off to you soon! Or call! Panda--hope you get your computer problems fixed soon! Ms. Jenn--where you hiding? Suziecat (think that is right, I can't scroll back any further!) welcome, I am so glad you finally joined us! I am having some issues with someone following me around and just making life fun---so I didn't ever speak before, and I feel bad! You are so welcome here, everyone here is supportive, we have diversity in many ways, and yet we all just love what we have together! OK---well my back home book is as done as my brain dead, self can think right now!!! If I missed you please forgive me! It is not an intentional slight!! Hugs to all of you! Kat

Thanks Mini....congrats on your NSV!! I too have had that feeling of being so excited about fitting into something and not liking it so much anymore but....hey it fits, thats all that counts! I was happy to make my half way mark but yesterday I had salad, pizza, a couple of chips and a chocolate cookie....YIKES!!!! Back to being good today! I will not weigh in, it may be a little too scary.

Raydoll! I am so excited for you...why you may be 199 right at this minute! you skinny thing you! I am so excited this morning. I put on a shirt this morning that I had bought about 2 years ago even though it didn't fit. I really liked it and my thinking at the time was...I'm going to diet and get into this very soon. Never happened. Well, this morning I was digging for something to wear and though I'd try it on and it fits perfect. No tighness across the chest or tummy! Course now it is a bit out of style. I don't like it as much as I did two years ago, but heck, happy dance it fits! I didn't have any gurgling or squeaking this weekend. I am still having to take the tiniest bites of food...I am PB on the first bite of almost everything..but then I can finish the bowl after that first PB. Strange, but I am very very happy with my band! Hope everybody had a great weekend. Can't wait to hear you NSV's Blessings, Weazer

    NSV (Non Scale Victories)

I tried editing my previous post but it wouldn't let me for some reason. I actually forgot a NSV: I got my wedding rings resized. I've got from a 9.5 to a size 7 in ring sizes. I was able to try on a ring right out of the case and it fit me...I have never had that happen. I've always had "sausage fingers".

    NSV (Non Scale Victories)

    1. Being able to cross my legs without leaning way to the side. 2. Going from a size 22/24 to size 16. 3. Shoes fitting better (yes...I am losing weight in my feet). 4. My daughter can put her arms all the way around me and touch her hands when she hugs me...I cried when she did this b/c she was so happy too! She thinks it's fun to show this to everyone now too! 5. I can run and play with my daughter. 6. People at work are noticing my weightloss. 7. Putting on a size 14 pair of shorts that I wore when I was pregnant with my daughter...little tight but I got 'em on. First time in 9 years! 8. I got into my PROM DRESS!!! OMG!! This happened last week...just on a whim I put it on and it fit! I thought I was going to die. 9. Taking a picture of myself where I actually think I am sorta pretty. This is a great thread and until now, I hadn't actually written down my nsv's. Very motivating!!

Do not use this thread... I had no idea what a NSV was... now I know! Use this thread instead.
