  1. My stall lasted 13 days and it sucked. My husband hides the scale from me and brings it out once per week - that has saved my sanity. I was driving myself crazy weighing every day and sometimes more than once a day. More importantly, you need to figure out a way to get in more Protein and Water - those are the two most important things for you now. More important than the scale. 60 grams of protein is not a lot when you consider a shake should have 20 grams. Have you tried unflavored and putting in pudding? What's approved on your diet? If you're having trouble with sweet shakes, try the unjury chicken Soup and add some chicken (if you're allowed). For water - I couldn't stomach plain water after surgery. I started drinking Propel Zero, Vitamin Water Zero and Powerade Zero (all zero calorie drinks and approved by my doc). That saved me from getting dehydrated. You can also try some decaf green tea or other warm drink - sometimes you can tolerate warm better than cold. Things will get better for you soon! Hang in there.
  2. You could experience many stalls during the journey - long and short. You just need to work on the things you can control: Your Water intake Your Protein intake Exercise Your protein is important so you don't lose lean muscle mass. Your lean muscle mass is what burns calories - so many folks that have WLS lose this. My last doc's appt showed I had lost some lean muscle mass and she doesn't want me to lose more. I have lost 5% of my body fat at 6 weeks. In order to not lose the LMM, you need to eat protein and once cleared, exercise and start lifting light weights (I'm not suggesting turning into a weight lifter - light weights with 20-25 reps per set). Walking and cardio are good for burning off the fat. You should do both once cleared. I don't know if it's going to be a long-term thing or not, but right now I log everything that I put in my mouth, including water. I have to or I'll snag a bite of something here and there and that grazing is what got me to 256 pounds. I set exercise goals for the month and track to that goal. There's a thread on this site January Fitness Challenge - you put in your goal, then update as you want to on that thread. And finally, I again suggest hiding the scale. Bring it out once a week or so - some will suggest weighing every month, some only weigh at the doc appointments. I read where someone even put their scale in the car trunk and brought it out once per week. My husband hides our scale and brings it out on Thursday, my weigh-in day.
  3. I am sooo incredibly happy that I found this thread! I've been stalled for about 10 days and I know it's Water and Protein, but I thought I was doing something majorly wrong. I've got my protein up, and today I finally drank all the water that I needed. How long does it take to get yourself out of the slump and back to dropping weight, once you get your protein and water met? Thanks.
  4. does everybody recommend taking laxatives to get more "regular" before checking into the hospital? or do they give an enema after getting there? since being on a pre-op diet the last week, i need help in this department, ahem... if you get my drift. and it seems that post-op it takes awhile as well.

  6. Hi all I have a question. I just called my dr office but have to wait for a call back. With my insurance Aetna QPOS I have to have 3 months of the visists with the dietition I had my first visit on 9/30 and my second visit tonight and the third on Nov 25? What I am confused about is that these are three visits within three months but it is not 90 days? So i am not sure what this means or what I need to do or if I have to change something around?Does anyone have any advise. Sorry if I posted under the wrong forum - I am still trying to figure out how to fully navigate this site.Sorry for the misspelling I am work and trying to rush.
  7. I've vomited several times, especially in the last week after a fill. I'm trying to readjust my bite size. But if that doesn't work I'm in to get an unfill.

    Two Weeks Post-op

WOW, 4 1/2 weeks with little to no hunger. WOW That is awesome for you. I won't hold my breath for that to happen to me, but boy it's nice to hear someone is having those kinds of results. I'll just be happy with a couple of weeks. On the sixth day of a two week liquid diet leading to surgery and this is not fun. Will be relieved to have the hunger gone.
  9. But did you take your measurements? I was not losing any pounds, but lost another 3 inches overall!
  10. You and I were sleeved on the exact same day. You have lost 85 pounds in 3 months!!! That is FREAK'N AMAZING!!! I have lost 47 pounds in the same period. I am currently in a stall and actually gained 2 pounds in this week's weigh in. I am not worried. It's a stall. If you've read enough of these posts, you know that stalls happen. Don't fret. There are many reasons for stalls--water weight, backed up plumbing, monthly cycle, etc. You're doing great. Keep doing what you're suppose to be doing and the weight WILL continue to come off as soon as your body is ready.

    Surgery date!!!

Two days after my consult I get a call from the surgeons office saying that I am approved and to set the date! March 25th!! WOO HOO I'm on my way to a new life. Not even worried about the new lifestyle. I have a nutrition class I have to attend the week before surgery...I can't believe how fast this has progressed.

    Post-Op Incisions

I am three weeks out and my incisions are completely healed and not sore at all. Everyone heal differently but hopefully you will only have a week or two until you are good to go.

  14. And I hit 50lbs on Friday!!! So happy with this decision. And still no fills! When it slows down I will gladly get a fill. But can't believe within 3 1/2 months down 50lbs with NO gimmicks. No juicing, no just shakes, no fasting. I have actually eaten the entire time. Just healthier!!
  15. Thanks everyone. And if you only knew the half of what has been going on in my personal life. The victory is even sweeter. VERY long story short and just a few hi/low lights. Surgery 12/14. My 'thin' but obviously not healthy husband suffered a massive heart attack on 12/18. Thankfully he is fine now. My dad went into the hospital on the 19th. And in January was diagnosed with a fatal lung disease. My 3 year old pretty much gave up sleeping from November to February and would just scream for HOURS every night and never sleep more than two hours at a time. Thankful that is way better now too!!! Got a heel spur in November and have weekly cortisone shot so i can walk and exercise without crying. So this victory is really sweet for me.
  16. Congratulations! You are off to a great start! I've seen it pointed out before, and I believe it to be true, that we, as overweight people, mistake "stuffed" for "full". Having said that, since you are only 2 weeks post-op and have not had a fill, it is quite normal for you not to fill full yet. You said you are not hungry - THAT is what you are looking for, even more than being full. As you move to solid foods, you will find that they fill you up faster and stay with you longer. The mushies that you are eating will move through your pouch fairly easily. But solid Proteins and appropriate vegetables, fruits and grains, when you are okayed to eat them, are going to be your friends. Sherbet, unless it is low-calorie, is definitely going to be something you will want to cut out or limit severely. It is one of those "slider" foods - high carb, high sugar things that slip oh-so easily through the band. For the time being, follow the plan your doctor gave you, only eating the amounts recommended, regardless of whether you feel you can eat more or not. Keep notes for yourself about how long it is before you feel hungry again, and be on the lookout for head hunger. When I first started solid foods I would eat the amounts on the plan my nutritionist gave me. On the first evening I finished my meal and noticed that it had satisfied my physical hunger. But I still wanted MORE! That's the part the band isn't going to be much help with. But that's why we are all here on LBT - to help each other with the tough parts!
  17. Should I only be drinking 4oz. of protein shake if it's a meal or because it's liquid can I have it all? I have been going over 4 oz. at my meals, will i stretch my pouch already? Only 2 weeks out, down 21 lbs. but need to eat so I'm not hungry!!
  18. even if the liquid is like a Soup or something else opaque? I am trying to stick to the 4 oz. but sometimes still feel hungry. I don't want to stretch my sleeve but I do want to make sure my body has all the fuel it needs. I exercise alot. Even at 2 weeks out, I'm back to cardio drills class and even a little running today. So, what do you think, eat a snack or two? Thanks for your help!!!
  19. Hi gang! Got to the green a couple of months ago. Finally, ya know. Well I ended up at goal in December and was told not to lose anymore. Well in the last 5 weeks I have lost 8lbs. Not trying at all. Just physically cannot any more than I do. I eat 1 to 2 meals a day and a snack. If I want something I eat it. So everyone is on my butt since I am still losing. I talked to my nut. She is going to blood work when I come down next month. I asked her how many more calories a day I need to eat. She said 200 and gave me some ideas. I think I can do that. She also suggested that doc my take a little out of my band so I can increase my volume just a bit. I can pretty much tell ya that's not happening. I'll get in the extra calories. Bought 3 pairs of jeans last month thinking that I would keep them awhile, but they are starting to get to big. Anybody else have this "problem"?

    Makes NO sense!!

Ok, so I have been stuck at the same weight for weeks now. I have been working out, walking the causeway for 50 minutes, watching what I eat, blah, blah, blah--- no weight loss. So, I said screw it, if I'm not lossing, I may as well eat whatever and I've slacked off on exercise this week. When what to my wondering eyes appears but 3 pounds lost in the past week. It just makes no sense. Anyone else have something which makes no sense?

    Cheeseburger Stew

I can tell you that 30days after surgery I had a one inch square peice of chix, I chewed it 40+ times and had stomach wrenching that caused inturnal bleeding that sent me back to week one diet, I passed 2 units off blood. My situation was extremely rare, but I would wait 90+ days before I tried that. Good luck, sounds good.
  25. I went to my 1 month follow up with the plastic surgeon and asked him several questions. He said the swelling is normal for the first few months because of all the skin that was removed (10 inches around the front and 8 inches around the back) so the lymphatic system has to grow new channels through the new area under the incision. This can also cause Water retention in the hips, thighs and calf area if I am on my feet too much. He also told me that at the 3 month follow up, if I am not happy with any areas, we can talk about "fine tuning" the areas with liposuction or trimming more skin (no extra charge for touch ups). That made me feel better about my concerns. I just need to be patient and take things easy for another month at least so the swelling will stay minimal. So sweat pants for another month before I try to get back into my jeans and dress pants.
