I saw my PCP on Monday for a sinus infection. He's referred me to Dr. Kuwada. Dr. Kuwada's nurse just called, and the ball is getting ready to roll! She took down some basic information, and I should get an evaluation appointment within the next week. Now if I only knew how to insert the dancing bananas, this post would be complete

I have not had one instance of food getting stuck since I have had my sleeve, and hope you have the same. I didn't start experiencing any hunger until a week post-op. At that point it was not uncontrollable nor has it been since surgery. I am 10 weeks out.

Questions for post ops...
Bufflehead replied to Only1likeme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh, bed ridden! Sorry, I should have figured that out. Naw, I wasn't bed ridden, not even in the hospital. I refused to get in the hospital bed except to sleep at night. I even napped sitting up in the glider chair in my room. Being at home taking care of myself was fine. I wasn't going to be cleared to drive for the first week so I made sure I had everything I needed on hand. I had a lifting restriction of 10 lbs, and I knew I wasn't going to be up for really heavy housework like mopping or vacuuming, so I got my housekeeper to come for an extra visit to take care of that, change the kitty litter, etc. I napped a lot for the first two weeks and took it easy but I didn't have issues with mobility or taking care of my basic needs. -
Hi. ..I have so many questions and I'm hoping some post op patients will have patients with me while I ask away...lol... I wanted to know if controlling your emotions and eating was hard those first 3 weeks. ..I hear you have to do an oz of Water every 15 mins? Was that hard? Then Protein. . protein. . what do you all suggest to get inthe daily amount . if I buy a huge container of protein for shakes. . is that good enough? I know this is life changing and I want to be ready. . prepared and aware. Have any of you had to come home on day 2 and just be need ridden? What Vitamins do you have to take our do they suggest? How long should you wait to have sex? How bad is the constipation? Has anyone slipped and taken ibuprofen? Keeping my fingers crossed

Focusing On Goals Or How I Drive Myself Crazy :oP
unbesleevable1 replied to Dondie Olivia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
you cannot rush perfection or weightloss. personally, mine slowed down after about 5 months post op. i am still losing, but it's just a slower rate. i don't stress about it. i work out 3-4 x a week (running) and do some body weight exercises a few times a week. i eat pretty good, sometimes i get sloppy. when i want to re-focus my efforts, i cut out almost all carbs, and do Protein protein protein. also i mix up my workouts and do more hills/ sprints. this shet takes time. from a health perspective, the most you should be losing is a pound or 2 a week. -
How far apart do you get fills?
Humming Bird replied to Wheeler5051's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think mine were 8 weeks for the first 2 fills ...........then I went back after 9 months, ended up going back for an unfill that brought me back to the fill level of my 2nd fill again..... then I went 11 months. -
How far apart do you get fills?
vickyd replied to Wheeler5051's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My first fill appointment was 6 weeks post op and after that every 4 weeks. So far, I have only had 1 fill (at the 3 month point) and I am doing so well that I now only go back every 8 weeks with the understanding that if I think I need a fill then I can make an appointment sooner. Each time I go in, I get weighed and then talk to the PA about my weight loss, portion sizes and hunger level before we determine if I am getting a fill - the reason I said "we" determine whether or not to do a fill is because they always ask my opinion (which I love because it means I have the final say as to what happens. -
I was just thinking this same thing driving home from the mall. I telecommute so I don't usually have to worry about work clothes, but I have a conference coming up in a week. I had to go shopping and I just wanted to cry. So tired of buying fat clothes. I wish this surgery was over yesterday. I have my consultation at the end of the month, but will have to wait until January for various reasons. I am just ready to start my new life. I have been researching and thinking for almost a year too, so I hear ya!

5 days post op. Is this full?
finally on my way replied to XXShelXX's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi, I am 9 days post op. I to get a similar sensation when full, or what I am learning is full. Also I had a lot of uncomfortable pressure into a low pain all through my first week associated with eating. I was unable to release gas. Every time I began to eat it would build quickly. I began to take 1 pepcid every 12 hours and 2-3 gasX throughout the day and it helped so much. I was able to finally eat with out discomfort! Now I do not need it. Keep up the great work and hang in there. We are on a similar time line in this new journey. Would be great to stay in touch. -
Went out tonight for the first time since surgery, 11/26. Had a small vodka cranberry and now Feeling like it was too soon. I barely got a buzz. Lol. I know some docs ok a small glass at like 4 weeks out. Nothing has really bothered my sleeve, not spicy, nothing. Ugh, anyone else have a drink this soon out?

Had to get an endoscopy today as part of the process to get the sleeve in June. Got some bad news today, they found a lot of gastric erosion caused by the aspirin I take daily. Have to take prioslec and see him in two weeks. Might have the beginning of an ulcer. Now the Big Question... Is this going to kill the sleeve surgery altogether? I have to see my surgeon on Friday. I have no idea what this means.

Does eating EVER get better?

Just keep walking! It will help the gas. I used my pain meds for a week at nighttime so you are not alone. -
I Know a Lot of Food is Tainted: It Taint For You and It Taint For Me
Project Disney posted a blog entry in Project Disney's Blog
After two weeks of eating healthy foods and feeling the physical benefits, the above statement shouts it's truths to my energized mind and body. A balanced diet is not a cookie in each hand as I use to subscribe to. I know ,dear members, during this Holiday Weekend we are going to be tempted with all the trappings of failure as we encounter the riches of Christmas candies, pies, puddings and general Christmas treats. I am going to call this food group "tainted". I will not even consider eating "tainted" meat. It is poison to your system. And so it is with tempting Holiday treats. They are poison to our goals and resolve. If we label this food group as "TAINTED" , we will be less likely to succumb to it's temptation. This battle we fight is very much mental and I fight it with mental strategys. I hope this one will help you over the Holiday festivities. Blessings. Dolly -
Yes,I vomited bloody foam the first 24 hours, then clean foam the next 24 hours and day 3 when I started sipping warm tea it really helped. For the first 3 days at home a sip was this.5ml from a teaspoon, swirled around in my mouth, allowing it to trickle slowly slowly into my throat.Literally drops at a time. Week 2 for me was much better but my sleeve was swollen for a long time. The difference is remarkable once the swelling goes down.O,and I was sipping like that day and night to get even a little Fluid in every day.The warmer liquids did help though. Hope the swelling goes down soon.Just keep trying all the time, one sip at a time.Wait,another,wait..ect.And blow that spirometer thingy every half hour. That seemed to have helped a lot with the pressure feeling I had. Let us know how you are doing.

I am so sorry this is your experience. Keep taking someone with you to your appts. Write out your concerns and questions before you go in, if he isn't listening, hand him the paper. Also ask if you can see a PA next time instead. I am 7 days out and still hurt pretty bad, I just had my appt and was told to keep taking my pain meds and expect relief in the next 1-2 weeks. I also use large gel ice packs to my abdomen every 20 mins. I brace the site when I move and prop a small pillow under it if I sleep on my side. You might call and ask if you could get/wear an abdominal binder. If the pain is too unbearable, go to ER. Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

My first week of Clear liquids, I was allowed Protein shakes. So it was more Water thin liquids, than clear liquids. I had Premier Protein and broth with protein powder. -

I'm a week post op (09/29) and have been feeling great. Unfortunately I live in Wellington which is in Palm Beach County and as you may know we have a hurricane in the area. My wife being a nurse is on the A team and has been on lockdown since yesterday. Guess who's been giving me my blood thinner shots? Yup I had to man up. Very proud of myself and my wife still doesn't believe me. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Constipation anyone?
ElfiePoo replied to TexasNurseMom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
After surgery, my doctor recommended Dulcolax, a stool softener. I had issues for a couple weeks after surgery, but they eventually cleared up. Now it's not even an issue because I get enough fat and Water in my diet. . -
I know exactly how you feel!!!!! I was ready to roll and my lab work came back that I had H pylori. Stupid bacteria. At least iron pills are itty bitty. I had to take 3 horse pill antibiotics and a prilosec in the morning and at night. Trust me, the two months will go by fast. I got my band two weeks ago and Im still wondering where the time went.

You can try asking your doctor to be aggressive with fills. Be careful what you ask for though! If you tell him that you have no restriction what so ever, that you are hungry all the time, and that you can eat way more than you think you should be able to, he/she may decide to let you have a little bit extra. A lot of doctors like to go at restriction very carefully though. Where do you live? I am coming to AZ next week. (Mesa)

Had my second fill a week ago I can no longer eat any meats hardly And can only eat a few spoonfuls of anything else And I start to burp, does that mean I'm full stop eating or band is too tight????
