    Plateau already???? Can't be....

Kristin, Congrats on your jeans... Today my daughter told me my jeans looked ridiculous, that there were so big it almost looked sad. I think in Lapband speak, that is called a NSV, or non-scale victory.

Me again...6 months today. Had a great NSV today. My sister-in-law called me today to ask if she could come work out with me some time. She's been doing Weight-watchers...forever, and surprise surprise she is gaining the weight back. She was sitting next to me at Thankgiving, and commented that she was surprised that I could eat everything served, and I'm still loosing weight. She says I'm looking so "fit" that I must be doing something more than just loosing weight. She's going to come down to lift weights with me some time. I really feel like even a moderate amount of weights makes such a difference in toning and boosting metabolism. Sure helps the motivation to have someone notice, especiallywhen they say you're looking "fit", not just smaller. Oh, and on the scale...I was hoping not to gain over Thanksgiving, and I LOST a pound. Gives me hope that I can get through the next 6 weeks that include my birthday, christmas and a cruise. Sue

    NSV (Non Scale Victories)

Best POSSIBLE NSV: I keep shaking my head and saying "I can't see it!" when people tell me how much they can tell I've lost. Today DH was hugging me and said, 'Oh, yeah -- look how much farther my arms go around you now!!' As he turned me to look in the mirror! I think I might get someone to snap THAT shot for my Before and After photos....I like using him for my 'tape measure'!!! Nana<----still DOESN'T SEE IT, but can't seem to lose that silly grin today!

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Good evening, Violets.. It was a great Thanksgiving. I ate less than I ever have on this holiday. I had a hardboiled egg for breakfast when I got to Kris's house and promptly pb'd it. I snacked on crackers and cream cheese with mint jelly and then had dinner. Just a little scoop of most of the things and then a sliver of pecan pie for dessert. I did not feel deprived at all and I made good choices. When I got home I warmed up some of the corn pudding and was eating that and some of a turkey drumstick and pb'd that too. Soooooooo I had some pudding and called that dinner. Tomorrow daughter Kris, daughter in law Jami and I are going to hit K-Mart at 6 a.m. to get some things for the grandkids. Then Ethan comes over at 8 til noon. After that we have the Santa parade at 5:30 p.m. The Bobster will be driving a truck to haul a float for Kris's nursing class. I'm sure we'll go out to eat after the parade. I tried on a pair of Gloria Vanderbilt cords the other day and a size 14 fit! I'm going to see if a size 12 will fit when I go to Peebles tomorrow. That will be a great NSV for me!!! Hope everyone had a relaxing, enjoyable day with family and friends. I too am thankful to have found this site and all the wonderful Violets!! Patience, Trust, Purple Power and WWJD???!!!

okay everyone....I had a NSV today!!!! Last month I had a pair of jeans I had bought..they were my very first button jeans bought in years. They were a size 24. I wore them to the doctor and we went and test rode bikes. I ripped them when they got caught in the derrailler. So, I went to the store to get a new pair, and they didnt have a size 24, but had a size 22. Well, I ended up buying them knowing they would not fit. I had tried them on a few times this past month, and did not fit. TODAY LADIES AND GENTS....THEY NOT ONLY FIT BUT ARE COMFY!!!!!! YES, 6 MONTHS LATER AND I HAVE GONE FROM A SIZE 30/32 TO A SIZE 22.... WOOHOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! I AM SO THANKFUL TO HAVE THE FRIENDS AND SUPPORT AND THE DESIRE TO CONTINUE TO LOOSE. THE BAND HAS GIVEN ME A NEW PERSPECTIVE ON MY LIFE, AND I CANT WAIT UNTIL EVEN THESE GET TOO BIG. THANKS FOR LETTING ME SHARE THE MESSAGE BOARD WITH YOU TO SHARE THIS NEWS __________________

    NSV (Non Scale Victories)

I actually had a new nsv yesterday. My husband had surgery yesterday and while he was in surgery, I ran down to the cafeteria to grab a bite to eat. I took my food to go and was sitting in the waiting room eating. About half-way through my meal I realized that I had the styrofoam container sitting in my lap while I was eating. Ummm...OMG!! I have a lap...an actual lap that I can sit stuff on now and use. It didn't hit me until that point. I have never been able to hold something on my lap b/c my belly has always been too big. I must have looked like a dork b/c I sat there staring at my styrofoam box in my lap like it was an alien. Someone walked by and asked me if I was okay...I just smile and said yes. Crazy!! I also went to Old Navy the other day and bought a new pair of pants...in the normal size section...size 14!!! Coming from a 22/24 size pants, I was thrilled. It has been 9 years since I could wear a 14. LOVE my band!

So I'm pre-band(7 weeks away!!!), but I have been losing weight before surgery(low carb) and would like to share a NSV from that! Speaking of body parts...I have collarbones! Always did, but now they actually sorta stick out! Looking forward to many more NSVs with the band!

    Nsv

Tonight I went to Target and bought a couple shirts. One was in the women's department but i went from a 20/22 to a 16/18. Secondly, I bought my first shirt in the "normal" girls department... granted it is a XXL but that doesn't matter. I have not been able to buy anything in that dept. for years and years..... I am sooooooooooo happy!:clap2:

    The Bandsters' Constitution

Since I started the thread, do I have the power to veto the addition of green's "Newbies have the right to ask what PB and NSV mean" statement? LOL Sorry, green! I think that it should read "Newbies have to right to research information about their new band on Lapbandtalk.com." Get thee to the abbreviations thread! LOL Hee, hee!

  17. Hey wow, this post of mine is really old... i'm finally less than 10 lbs from goal. The biggest NSV... buying clothes at a regular store!! OMG that is the best! I'm wearing 10's right off the rack and my favorite sz 12 jeans that are only 3 wks old are too big!!! M*Azing. So, 15 months, down 92 lbs (93 this morning, but i wont count that till its consistent for a couple of days). SOOOOOOOOOOO very excited!!
  18. Terry - OMG how beautiful -- you are so so talented. Judy - I love your ring! TracyK - that is a wonderful NSV! Kity - I am right there with you -- good stuff=PB; bad stuff goes down just fine! I have a busy day today - grocery shopping; working; and making Apple and Sweet Potatoe pies. Have a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving everyone!
  19. I voted 100% for the BIG celebration. I do Celebrate all the little victories (scale and NSV's) along the way. I have committed to buying one outfit at each size rather than looking dumpy in too big of clothing all the time. I buy 5-7 outfits at every other size to save money. Mom had a bunch of items at my next size down so I've saved myself money on the next size (which I'm almost into!! woohoo) I've always had an extensive wardrobe so just these few of outfits is REALLY hard to deal with. Thank God that my shirts fit longer and I can have a few extras of those. I've hit 1/2 this past week as well. I honestly cannot afford to celebrate in any significant way. I know that I want the bodybugg but it's out of range at this time. My big celebration comes when I get to goal. New wardrobe, fitted fabulous leather coat (drool) and whatever else I can come up with at the time.

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Good Evening, Violets.. The kids and grandkids just left and the Bobster and I are in a huge, brand new Ramada Inn and there are only two rooms occupied!! It's like I'm living in a mansion. Soooooooooo quiet. I used the exercise room last night and will do so again tonight. At least I'll get close to half my exercise goal for November. We leave for home in the morning. It's a 5 hour drive and the Bobster has to be back in time to leave for a Bible Study at 6 p.m.and I have a Chorus rehearsal at 7. Amelia Riann was baptized today and she was wearing the christening dress I had made for daughter Kris 25 years ago. She looked so precious, but didn't like it when the minister wanted to hold her. Afterwards she changed into an outfit that her Aunt Kris gave her and it was sooooooo cute. She had a dress, little coat and beret. I'll get pics posted when I get home. The greatest NSV was when grandson Everett gave me a hug before he left and said.. "Grandma, I can get my arms all the way around you!!!" I LOVED it! I also wore a velour dress that was a size L and it fit. AND I wore pantyhose that I didn't have to grunt and groan and ask for help to get into!! All NSV's. Hope everyone had a good weekend. I know many of us, me included, are struggling, but we will prevail!!! We are Violets and we have PURPLE POWER... not to mention each other! Everyone hang in.. tomorrow starts a new week and we still have the band in place to help us. We wouldn't be where we are without it and each other. Patience, Trust, Purple Power and WWJD??!!!

    Anyone here?

Yay Audree for getting to the gym! I can't wait to get back to the gym. today is my 10 month Band anniversary! I am down to 167 now. So Excited! I've got to share a NSV for me. I ordered these size 11 Jr. jeans off Ebay, Well, they come in and my DH opened them before I got home, and he mumbled out loud to my daughter, "There is no way she can fit into these jeans, they look like little girls jeans". So, I come home and he showed me the jeans, and I agreed with him, that there was no way I could fit into those jeans. Anyhow, to amuse myself, I decided to try them on to see how far it would take to fit into them. Guess what, THEY FIT. I couldn't believe it. My DH was clapping his hands and saying you do not need to lose any more weight, you are skinny! LOL. It just felt good to see how small the jeans were and to actually fit into them. I also tried on a size 10 slack at the store, and they fit. I didn't buy them, I wanted to buy them, however, I'm holding off to go on a big shopping spree in January for my 1 year Band B-day. Anyhow, hope everyone has a great week and enjoy your family & friends.
