Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

HAPPY CTC Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Scale was down to 206 this morning.. YAY!!!!!!!! 1 more til I lose my Turkey Weekend weight. Welcome Cindy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Suzie: I too love Dr. Malley.. he is SOOOOOOO laid back that I often wonder how he takes my big mouth! I ALWAYS ALWAYS ask how much... and you should of seen him when I asked for a pic of my band installation... (I was getting ready to go under and I saw him enter the room so I lifted my head up off the table and yelled accross the OR asking if he could take a pic for me... LOL.......... the other people in the room laughed at my request, but he said.. "Yeah I can do that" and he did. I guess he came out and gave it to DH, He said.. "she asked for this" Charles was like .. SHE DID????? I guess they had a laugh over it.... and then the next morning I was walking the halls at Menorah when I saw him come in for rounds..... I was dragging my IV bag chasing him down asking for my coffee! He said he needed to look at my barium swallow and I announced that it was fine.. He looked at me and said.. "Oh really? HOW DO YOU KNOW?" I told him.. "well I WATCHED IT GO RIGHT THROUGH, I had the tech turn the screen toward me so I could watch it" He laughed outright at that......... Kat: Your story always touches me...... it is a wonderful reminder of how resilant the human spirit can be. It really makes me proud to call you my friend. TracyK: WOW that is so depressing..... makes me want to go hug my son! Pam: I think you did the right thing on your unfill.... wait it out you can always go in later. Terry: WHERE ARE YOU??????????????????? Haydee: How are you doing? Jennifur: Hang tough you will make it through this rough patch! Judy: What can I say.. you are a machine! How in the world does the bobster keep up? Michelle: Yay on the NSV yesterday.... you all looking hot in your sweats! Jane: I know you are busy with all the holiday hair appointments! Denise: Where are you today???????????? Nanatobe Laura: IT'S CUT THE CRAP DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You can do it! OK.. gotta get cracking........... I really stink at personals so I hope I didn't miss anyone........ Today NO crap............... OHHHHHHHHHH the crockpot chicken went down fine, but I didn't eat much because I was getting irritated with all the chewing.. (SPEED EATING ISSUE) so I realy just ate the catchetorie sauce and the better part of a baked potatoe.. but then I at too much and ended up spitting some of it out.... Restriction is back full swing................... ONEderland here I come!

Stef thanks for your support! I truly appreciate it. After posting this morning before my shower I got on the scale and I am at 197? so who the heck knows. I will take it! When I went in to the lab for my fill yesterday, there were about 5 woman all waiting, it was all their first. One woman said to me, wow you look great, and did not even think I had it. When people give you what are seen as positive, can turn into a sabotage! Stef do you ever slip into that trap, when your family tells you to stop losing, giving yourself permission to eat? I try to prevent it, but it can give you a green light to be off the goals. Suzzzzie You are doing FANTASTIC!! 75 big ones! that body bug is really giving you the positives isn't it? Julie great NSV, clothes that are smaller makes you feel fantastic!!! thanks for the group support, it is great. Speaking of, where is Toni, Dan, Margo, Heather?

    Crossing your legs....

Yessssssssssssss. I use to envy people for crossing their legs. I can now cross my left over right ANYWHERE ANYTIME!!! Right over left still doesn't work for me, but I think it has to do with the curve in my spine.. my hips are off by a couple inches, so one of my legs doesn't bend or move as much as the other. But, I find myself crossing my legs all the time.. at dinner, in someone's office, at home watching tv, etc. Woohoo NSV.

    Crossing your legs....

I could cross my legs fairly elegantly even at my highest weight - didnt have to do the man style ankle on knee thing, so this wasnt an NSV for me, but I just then caught myself not only crossing my leg but twining my foot and ankle round the back of the leg - I try to remind myself not to do it becuase doesnt it give you varicose veins?
  7. wombat712

    Crossing your legs....

I just posted this same thing as one of my NSV's!! I LOVE crossing my legs and I do it ALL the time. Whether I'm wearing shorts, jeans, dressed up or not And like Kacee said - I don't have to hold it there!

    EXCESS SKIN questions!

oh my goodness....I hadn't seen this thread until now. Thanks for the laughs, ladies!!! Here's one for the Sad But True category -- I can't call it a NSV, how about a NSA(Non-scales Actuality)?? One way I can tell that I'm losing is my considerable APRON is getting longer and thinner. It's hard to get excited about weight loss when it comes with such uncomely results.
  9. CoffeeWench - BRAVO!!! Did you ever stop to think they may be new to the internet? New to LBT and still finding their way around? The first week I was on I had to ask all those "stupid" questions, pb? nsv? but I was on here to get answers since I was still in the research phase. I don't mind the questions, I feel its smarter to ask questions then to sit back dumbly.

    NSV (Non Scale Victories)

Congrats everyone!!! Great NSVs. I am constantly amazed by the things I fit through. I take up way less space in reality than I do in my head...In my head I am still a million gagillion inches wide... But fitting between people and things is WAY easier now! Rain

bigbaby GREAT NSV, looking good in our clothes is a great boost! farmerE that is funny, but I can understand about the confusion, it is hard to keep it all straight. I am glad you have it all cleared up. sheila I think everyone is VERY different. The band size, weight, etc. It is different for everyone, and it changes for each of with every step! It is very hard to compare. Stef you look great and agree with waiting to define the goal end weigth until you feel your way to that point. I would think 145 would be harder to maintain. I am 5'7-5"8 and I know 145 is a great weight to get to, but I always had difficulty staying tehre, 155-160 was more realistic. But, hey the band may open up more flexibility! Fill yesterday!! I am a bit depressed and can understand how some of us are on the emotional rollercoaster! I am up to 201 from 197!! I don't understand how I can't lose and gain instead! According to the docs records, I lost 2 lbs, but that is from October 8! I know that some of it is due to choices nad lack of exercise, however I don't eat large amounts of food either?? I have been having problems with food getting stuck and the NP took out my 6cc and put back the same saying that I did not need anymore. She showed me my upper pouch and it was a bit enlarged and asked if I was having heart burn? I said no. then mentioned a hernia? I did not ask enough questions. Any thoughts? We talked food choices, measuring and not eating bad foods because I can't eat what is on the dinner table. she is right. I really need to get my butt working. well, need to run to work. take care all!

TP I am so glad you got your money back!! That would have been horrible if you hadn't. I hope they can figure out who used that card. All purchases are timed I think, it would be nice if they could look at the time, place, and a video of who used it. Susan, glad you are feeling better. I still have restriction but it is easing up. I think by the 31st I will ask for a tweak of a fill. not as much as I got this time. I think maybe that will be a sweet spot for me. I have really Missed Vlynn, also hearing about her DH Billy. Lo2us, you doing okay? I hope I am losing, I am not weighing too often. Maybe I'll see a little better results when I do weigh. I did put on a pair of jeans today that I can slide down without unbuttoning, or unzipping. NSV I suppose. Take care everyone.

Well done Saintluver, great effort! I can't wait to be able to buy clothes because I like them and not because I can get into them! I'm in the middle of a big clean out ... lot's of stuff doesn't fit anymore so it's going, and I'm moving down through the size rack that my wardrobe had become! My NSV this week was on the weekend I took part in a women's triathlon event. I did the swim leg for the team and despite not breaking any speed records I was so excited to actually be there taking part. Several months ago I wouldn't have dreamed of being seen in public in a swimsuit, let alone running from the pool to transition area in one :faint: I am so excited about the new life I am creating, sure the weight loss is great, but even better is the feeling that I can be a part of the 'normal' world. I left with a goal that next year I would enter the small event as an individual ... better get training for that bike and run leg! :whoo:
  15. I bought a pair of jeans at Goodwill because I just can't afford to be buying clothes so that they fit. I am down to a very few outfits now that I can wear. A great NSV (and a funny one!) We were moving last week and I could feel that my pants were way to big. Well just as I got into the house from carrying several boxes, my jeans just fell to the floor! My BF and I were laughing so hard. it was a good thing that friction held them up for the last 15 seconds or I could have bared my behind to the entire town! And Fastpitch mom I also look like I have a load in my pants!

Oh Yeah! Just got back from internist's office. I've had hypertension for 5 years. BP was high (150/100), even with meds. Now, after the two-week pre-op diet and 2 weeks of banding, my BP is 110/80. Zipadeedppdah!!! I get to cut my meds in half and doc says in another three months he doubts I will need them at all. I have a big stoooopid grin on my face!!! I love my band!!!:clap2:
  17. Best NSV I have read in ages.

    "Know-It-Alls"......bug me to no end

okay....my first newbie stupid question....I'm so excited! What exactly is PB and NSV because I've always thought it might be Post Barfing and Never Stop Vomiting. Am I right? I can't wait to know it all. I'm serious!
  19. Okay, last post in my series. I have a new NSV. I suddenly realized this weekend that I can rest my arms at my side. I can sit in an arm chair and use the arm rests as intended. :whoo:You might think this is not a big deal, but until this last week, I would walk with my arms sticking out uncomfortablly because between the fat at my sides and the fat on my arms, it made my arms stick up. I did not even know what I was missing. I can't remember when I lost this ability. I am just glad it is back. Stay tuned...crossing of the legs is coming soon:clap2: Have a wonderful day, Mary

    "Know-It-Alls"......bug me to no end

So did I. When I first joined LBT I did ask all sorts of "stupid newbie" questions including the one about the meanings of PB and NSV. I also wanted to talk about my hair loss and I posted a new thread about this. The reason why I like to be very respectful of newbie questions is that I tend to be kind of blonde/analog when it comes to navigating the internet and websites. This is why I have found myself taking the middle - the bland - road when it has come to the recent and bitter newbies/old guys debates which have been taking place on a few other threads. The truth is that there are a number of experienced oldtimers on this site who have acquired a wealth of knowledge on band issues and who have chosen to remain on site in order to answer questions and, generally speaking, give help. It is also true that sometimes some of these folks can sound kind of snarky and impatient, a response which is invariably disturbing to a sensitive and recently hatched bandster. Of course what the oldtimer is responding to is the fact that this question, though a new one to the newbie, has been asked a billion times before and that there is a FAQ section on this site. There is also a research issue option. You want to know about hair loss or acid reflux? Well, you can type in these topics and the research engine will call up all threads which deal with these issues. But that blonde, analog Green didn't know any of this stuff when she first joined LBT. And so I posed all those same old questions but I was lucky: people gave me the answers without any attitude. This is why I try to keep my posts attitude-free. At the same time I feel that it is important that folks understand that there are many experienced folks here on this site and if attitude is sometimes given, well, take the advice, ignore the attitude, and understand that the attitude comes only from frustration, not from a lack of interest or caring. Lindata has the right attitude, IMHO.

    NSV (Non Scale Victories)

Hi there...I am new to this site and am in desperate need of some encouragement. I am only 6 days post op (lap band) and SCARED TO DEATH!! My fear is that I wont loose weight. Do you recall feeling this way?? I guess I just don't know how much weight I should expect to loose? How often should I weigh? I know myself and I can become a "slave" to the scale. NSV sounds great to me but that would require patience...Something I lack terribly...PLEASE HELP

    NSV (Non Scale Victories)

Oh, today was another NSV. I am a pisces too and LOVE the shoes. I am wearing 4 inch heels today with no problem. Also wearing a pair of pants purchased 2 years ago and never worn - when I bought them on sale I underestimated MY size and was a crying mess in my closet when I arrived home and they did not fit. To have them on today is a true victory and I feel so good that I want to wear them all week!
