Barbara465 Congratulations on the decorating - I am looking forward to seeing pictures! And also congratulations on the "new" jeans from your alternative closet. What fun to get back into clothes you wore before! Cathy Congratulations on your 3 lb loss! Way to go! And I am glad your dates have gone well. Good luck to you. Leecelove70 Congratulations on your total loss of 51 lbs! Wow! Melissa I am glad your fill is okay so far. Sorry you felt a little deprived on Thanksgiving. I have heard that "nothing tastes as good as thin feels" and I think that is going to be my new motto! The presents you wrapped are gorgeous! I so wish I could do that. Pinkylee What terrific NSV's - I guess that is proof of the motto above! I did okay over the holiday - I did take my Protein but not all of my Water. I was so busy with company (nineteen for dinner) that I would forget to drink the water. I was able to eat a little bit of just about everything during the main dinner but no other meals. I tried to eat a little turkey in the evening and it came right back up. I just don't understand what makes the difference. I think I am chewing well and eating slowily and sometimes it works and other times it doesn't .

VABandster--CONGRATULATIONS!!! I'm so excited for you! :wow2: sweethot--Great NSVs! A couple of them made me chuckle--it's so true! BooBooKitty--Good luck on your finals! I feel your pain! The good news is that once you're done it's holiday time!!! Oh yeah--about your age...the good news is that you'll still be closer to 30 than 35. I'm going to be 42 this year, but I'm still happy because I'm closer to 40 than 45! LOL!

Jana you should post your triumph ride on the NSV thread if you haven't already. I'm praying you will make your next goal for the OK ride, but you will get there regardless of the timing. Lisa depression is a toughy. I excused myself from exercise yesterday to do much needed chores. I had the depression aches last night. Exercise has always been helpful for my depression (tried every med--doesn't help), but in the last few months if I miss a day, I sure know it by evening. My increased energy level is definitely helping in this process.

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Yikes.. we must all have the eyebrow vibe. I got mine waxed yesterday when I got my hair cut and colored. I'm a blonde, blonde now. We call it "screaming blonde". It's not blonde enough unless I'm screamin'!! I got lots of compliments at the beauty shop and all those nsv's sure feel good. One question.... does swatting fruit flies in the kitchen count for a cardio workout??? arghhhhhhhhh they are bad right now. I don't have a clue why! I've not had them for years and years.. ever since I left some potatoes in the pantry and they ummmmmmm rotted. Hmmmmmmmmmm think I'll take a look in the pantry and see what I can find. It's a little cooler here today so I'm going to paint the deck railings. I just finished my tuna fish and watermelon for lunch. I'm good to go until we go out tonight to have dinner with friends. We got our Alaska cruise documents in the mail the other day so we're going to go over them and see what excursions we want to do. I'll be headed to Curves at 3 so DD can weigh me and take my measurements. Laura.... are you exercising?? That's the only thing that will reduce the inches on me and help with the weight loss. I try and do some exercise for 30 min. each day. I'm guessing poker is right up there with fruit fly swatting as far as exercise goes.. -
BIG SV today - I lost 5 lbs. in 4 days!!! That's more than I have lost in the last MONTH! I did lots of yard/house work on Saturday, treadmill for a little while both days and have been tracking my food, keeping under my allowance everyday except one. It paid off - praying that it stays off! That put me at reaching my first goal, which was to lose 30 lbs. Also had a NSV today - a co-worker told me that I was really "slimming down and looking good". After last week, I really needed to hear that. I think I will go home and take my measurements - something I haven't done in 6 months. Hope this is the beginning of finally getting over the hump slump I have been in the last few months.

Who Are You?
Butterbeanfly replied to illgeturhairdid's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am 45, have three kids, 26, 15, 12. Married to my second husband since 2006. He is the only one I count. I have a BFA in fine art and a BA in ceramics. So of course I am an accountant, lol. I groomed dogs for many years until my wrists gave up. Sucks because I was really good at it. I now have three dogs we show in rally and obedience. I miss my clay and my studio. I do a lot of crafty stuff to fill the gap so if you need a crochet hat I am your girl. It is something that bothers me a lot and a big NSV I want is to re establish my studio and be an artist again even if it's only weekends. Having surgery November 12. It's taken since April to get here. Just so many obstacles. My husband is awesome. I am not worried about his support. He is paying for surgery and a few years ago I lost down to 145 on medifast but it came back. He loves me fit or fluffy thank god. He had prostate cancer surgery in February. All is well health wise but intimacy is not a go at this time. Still healing. Makes me sad, but I know we will get there together and the cancer is gone which gives us the time to do so. So I am a wife, a mom, a puppy caretaker and I try to be a really good person. Hoping for my health to return quickly. I am tired of dragging this weight around. Best wishes to all! Vicki -
Hello, I sure missed you guys. We went to Richmond Friday evening for a baby shower. Our niece and her husband adopted a baby and they had a huge gathering to show him off. We ended up spending the night at hubby's sisters. We had a good time. Came home and stayed in my jammies all day and in my chair. Just felt a cold coming on and I wanted to fight it off. Today I was wanting to go to the Mall and get some shopping done. I took Abby and that was a mistake. We had a ball but ai couldn't get any shopping done. However I did have a huge NSV. Abby decided that she wanted to ride the huge merry-go-round. Not just ride it but to go up on the second floor and ride the pony up there. I actually had to go up there with her and ride. Yup, that was me up there on the merr-go-round. It was a lot of fun but after awhile I was getting dizzy. We had a wonderful day today and she wore me out. I'm all for the chocoholic trip. Maybe next year we could have the group get-together there. I will just have to not tell my sis I'm going. I just go and then tell her after I get back. LOL. Have a great evening

Non-Scale Victories Thread

ConGrats All, Debbie Gail, i, too hesitated for the same reasons. After pulling the too big clothes out of the closet to make room for the older- smaller stuff- something had to give. It took a few weeks of staring at this pile i was afraid to get rid of before I changed my mind. It will come. To be safe, i save the last size I left and donated the clothing to the YMCA who need clothing for women starting over and needing work clothes. and Good Will. I can sabotage myself really easily but the on-line groups, the local support group, and the exercise help. Keep the Too Big Clothes in a place you will see every day You will get fed up, too. It's just more baggage. My NSV is fitting into slacks 2 sizes smaller than i could April 1st (Don't know when it happened - the scale says I'm the same but..) . -

Wow, reading everyone's NSV really makes me think how many small victories I have taken for granted over the last 10 months! I did have 2 profound NSV experiences last week: I help with Market day at my daughters school, I have every month for two years. This month one of the Moms (who has seen and talked with me every month for two years) introduced her self to me, told me it was nice to meet me and thanked me for helping out. I thought it was a little weird. A few days later I was at work and I recognized a women and her husband from somewhere. I asked them if they took my childbirth class 2 years ago, and they said no, they took the class but their instructor..... (long silence).... had long hair! I laughed and told them yes my hair is much shorter hair now. It was at that point that the light bulb went off and I was like OH MY GOODNESS! I had no idea I look that different! -
Lisa - you are right, maybe we should focus on our accomplishments or NSV vs the Scales. So here is my list 1. A regular towel fits completely around me now, I no longer have to use beach towels. 2. When I take a bath, my sides no longer touch. 3. My wrist are so skinny now, my cuff watch no longer fits. By my wrist measurements, I am considered "small frame". 4. I weigh less than my husband! 5. I can walk into any store and buy something off the rack. 6. I look younger 7. I no longer have to have the lights out when making whoopie :huh2: 8. I lost my "other" chin :cursing: 9. I have collar bones now! 10.I can cross my legs 11. I can bend down and tie my shoes while still breathing - I used to have to hold my breath. 12. I am a tucker now - yep, can tuck my shirts in! 13. I feel better - Cholesteral is down! 14. I no longer GAIN weight by "looking" at food. These are just a few things that I can do now.

DonnaMarie - so good to hear from you! You're doing great Congrats on tying the knot, too  I am happy for you that you have such a supportive husband. Keep up the great work! Mary, hang in there with your mom...she's lucky to have you there with her. Sorry to hear she's having so much pain issues. I had the greatest NSV ever today - I was in the waiting room to be called in to see my lap band PA, and the girl that called me in opened the door and saw me sitting there and said "OMG look at you!" super loud in the waiting room. It was so cool! Then I walked through the door and all the nurses and my PA were standing behind the desk right inside the door and they just looked at me and their mouths opened and no one said anything, so I went "ta-da!" They all were laughing. My PA said I'm doing "phenomenal" about 6 times and said I am ahead of schedule and losing more like a gastric patient. He said he was very proud of me. That made me feel so good. Just wanted to share Oh - I'm down 107!!!

I've been grumpy frumpy today...and part of its been the stress over the last few weeks. San Fran was great, but it made coming back to the teenager not getting out of bed for school and the 5 year constantly "bugging" her all the harder. Then I got mad because I lost weight...how funny is that. But the only reason I lost weight was because I'm eating NADA because I'm sick. Then I was like...in four months I have only lost 35lbs. I stressed over this for awhile. Then I like went over and checked out the reunion board on obesity help. Everyone there kept posting...at my 3 month check up (back to that in a sec) I lost 53lbs or 58lbs or...you get the picture. So i sulked more. Then it hit me..they said 3 months...so got looking and I'm not 4 months I'm 3 months. And I went back and looked and NONE of those that had posted were lapband patients. I don't visit obesity help as much as I used to...and forget its mostly rny patients. So I'm embracing the 35lbs which comes out to just a little over 11lb a month. I'm going to stop grumping and ask for a fill next week. I'm going to be thankful that I'm loosing and not gaining as I did in the months waiting for the surgery. I started one of those journals to grump into that Kathy mentioned. Kathy thanks for knocking some reason into me today...your nsv list is amazing. Diane you are always so supportive..thanks girl Kim, you are doing great, I keep wanting to do as well as you guys I"m glad Curtis is feeling better. My fever is down but the coughing is driving me nuts. My port area hurts...I hope I haven't coughed something wrong. Melissa

hi all! Hugs ruthie! congrats on the nsv's! i have finally gotten to 50 lbs. my goal was 60 by christmas but 50 is good! i think i put some on over the last week. not too much but we'll see when i go back to school on the 2nd. i weigh myself on the nurse's scale. my mom's 75th birthday is in feb and i am flying to see her. i will try to jump start my weight loss by going back to liquids or oatmeal for breakfast. my doc reminded me at my last appt that oatmeal or 1 egg will stick with me longer than liquids for breakfast so i will try it. i am also going to stick to mushy meat for lunch. then reg for dinner with less carbs which seems to help. maybe i can lose 20 by mid feb???? it;s a little high but shoot for the stars and reach the moon! Happy new year all!

Thanks Barbara, I'll get on photob and see what I can do. Glad to hear your NSV and that your are better. Poodles, we've missed you. All of us are placing high hopes for a fresh start on the 26th. You are not a failure. Your move is finally behind you, so you'll have time to concentrate on YOU. I'm anxious to tie up the loose ends and enjoy friends and family during the holidays! Do you have an eating trigger? DH is mine. He can really take on a stinky persona sometimes!

Thanks for the reminder Laura!!! I logged on and both my refunds hit my account!!! Actually were deposited on Valentines Day---and I had forgotten! Still waiting to hear from anyone---I have to say that really, seriously pisses me off! Do not tell someone you will call if you have no intention of doing so! I had an NSV this morning. You know I said we had to replace the toilet in the main bathroom---so I kept the box---as anyone around kids learns to do--this allows for hours of playtime. Well Kinsey and I both fit in the box!!! I was not sure my neck would ever straighten out right again---but we fit!!! She is now napping in the box!!! Rick and I have tossed ideas around, we usually buy something for the house or have some sort of plan for our tax return----but nothing this year! We had the same issue with Valentines Day! We kept trying to come up with a fun thing to buy for ourselves...nothing! I got my rose---I get every year---and we went to dinner. But we shopped on Thursday----found nothing! We ended up buying new shoes (tenny runners) and joked that they were our Valentine gift! Several years ago after I complained about my roses dying after Valentines Day...I said if the season were different I could have a rose bush for the garden instead--I have a rose garden--as well as a big yard. Well then the next year Rick give me a heart shaped box of candy, and a catalog from Jackson Perkins! So now each year I get to pick out a new rose---we order it as soon as Mother's Day passes which is our usual last freeze---and then when it comes in he plants it for me and Valentines is officially over for the year!! Thinking about one of the hybrids they have that are so pretty! Or maybe setting out some miniatures .....not sure yet! He said to irritate his secretary when she ask what he got me for Valentines Day, he told her a new toilet!!! Would have loved to have seen her face!! I have a roast in the crock pot, hoping it cooks tender enough for me to eat with my tooth! I need to go finish up cleaning out the fridge, and loading the DW----all the fun jobs!!! TTYL~~ Kat

Good afternoon Violets! Kat: Your continued battle for Kinsey's health brought tears to my eyes.. that poor little baby. I have spent a good part of the day planting all my loot that I got from Walmarts garden center. Everything was marked 50% off so I planted 6 hostas a rose bush and spruced up a pot with some colorful caladium. I had gotten a bunch of glad bulbs free from work. I was a hot sweaty mess so I turned the hose on myself after watering the flowers... The shorts I am wearing are 16's and although I had to wrench them over my belly they feel ok and was an NSV for me. I think my fill is working because I've been eating very little and the scale was nice this morning teetering on 242... I WILL get the the 230's next week dammmmmmit! Monday I go back to the gym and dbf goes to Omaha for work. Hope everyone is having a great day. -

Alrighty then. DH gained a pound this week so there must be something in the water. HOWEVER I did have a couple of NSVs today. Last year at Gospel Sunday I was wearing a man's size XXL denim choir shirt. Today I'm wearing a man's L and I'm just shy of being able to button it around my belly. Next year my goal is to be in a woman's Medium! Yesterday I bought new underwear. I asked my DH if he knew what an optimist was. I said.. "it's somebody who buys one package of size 8 and one package of size 7 underwear". This morning I thought I'd just try the size 7 on and IT FIT!! Now the last NSV has a parental warning attached to it. When I stood in front of the full length mirror this morning before stepping into the shower, I saw something I have not seen in years and years. I looked down and saw my hoo haaa!! It's been covered up by a big apron of fat for a long time and today it was just peeking out! Ok, I know that's TMI, but it WAS a NSV for sure!! -

Tracy-poor thing! I can not even imagine having to deal with a group!! One is enough for me! I feel for you! Pamela-The internet is supposed to be hooked up the same day we move....thank GOD! SnowViolets-more power to you for having to deal with the snow, much less drive in it! I will send WARM thoughts your way Judy-great NSV! That is so awesome! In my rambling of sh*t I have to do...I forgot these things #1 Shop for Christmas #2. Wrap the stuff. #3. Bake cookies for dd school party and for my family party. Well, on the up side of it, at least I do not have to drive on icy roads, so life isn't THAT bad! I went to wal-mart yesterday:eek:. That place was a ZOO. Thank goodness for shopping carts. I was able to corral Macy in that instead of chasing her around the store. TOM showed up today...I am having to beat myself off of the cookies I am baking.:nervous Hope everyone is having a great one. Judy-hope you made it to and from church OK! -

We had a garage sale the first weekend in Feb. We made $800!!! And now, you can actually put 2 cars in my garage (did you know that is what they are used for???). Have fun! Pizza and salsa update: I am in the lead, but still don't know if I won. I've sampled the others, but did not over do it. As far as the pizza...the kids are eating now, and I had the cheese and pepperoni from one small slice. Tasted gross after my 0 sugar lunch of chix. beans and cheese (yes 0 sugar, 20 carbs...great for lunch!) I'd say that is a NSV! Also, I didn't mention that it is DONUT day here at work. These people are evil, but I passed them up too! woohoo -
Tammy: Thats awesome about your NSV!!! It feels good to be losing doesn't it! Keep up the good work...and Grocery store here you come! Janet: I have a 9.75 cm band. My first fill was 2.0 and my 2nd fill was .8...I still really have no restriction. I feel so like this maybe isn't working for me...i am getting kind of bummed! Magic: Welcome to Feb. Bandsters. Join in with us, and we will keep ya occupied for days! Hope everyone else is doing great today! Have a good one. Check in later!

Beautiful!!! That is definitely a worthy NSV!
-
Jill--glad you are feeling better. For me when I am too tight an unfill just does the trick and I am able to get right back on track. Steph--hoping to be a hot mama??? C'mon, you will be! Forget aboutit, you will be skinny and stealing the brides thunder. But not on purpose of course because that would just be mean. NSV ladies--I got called a skinny b*tch! WOO HOOO!!!!!!! :scales: I made somone mad at the grocery store parking lot and when I got out she yelled at me at called me a "stupid skinny bitch" lol...I am just sticking to the skinny part.
-
Kaydot- I say hang in there and you may want to try some Prilosec OTC or Zantac that works well for protecting you from ulcers as well as the heartburn. Nikki- Boys are so fun! Congrats! Sweethot- I wish I had dh begging me to have another baby! I am the one trying to convince him for one more. I do have one little NSV to share with you all! I went to my family dr the other day for a check up. I started seeing him a month or 2 after I got married 10 years ago. I asked him what my weight was when I first saw him, I am 7 lbs lighter than my weight when I got married! I am the smallest my dh has ever seen me! I still have a long way to go- but this was encouraging to me!

Heck Pamela---you crack me up too!!! Love the nanners!!! Melanie---congratulations on keeping your little boy, I can only imagine how happy you are. We went through a court case, with DH's ex, that she kept appealling...eventually took it all the way to the Colorado Supreme Court. With each win we got the attorney told us our odds just kept increasing, he said only on TV do appeals work as a general rule. Not only do facts not change, most judges, do not make a habit of over throwing another judges rulings he said. So....keep the faith, and enjoy YOUR son!!! Jane---I am sorry to hear you are PB'ing!!! Misery! My suggestion would be to just drink nothing at all for a couple of hours, let your system totally calm down, then begin with the smallest of sips, of something like Gatorade---it will help rebalance your electrolytes. Then stay on liquids for a day, and ease back into food, if it still hurts after a day on liquids, when you try to eat, give it another day, but if it continues any longer---call the doc! Good Luck!!! I have been a good bandster!!! OK, a pretty good bandster, considering! We met up with friends, and kids, and friends kids all at Fuddruckers today, I ate a burger with veggies, ditched the fresh homemade bread bun ..... and give my cookie to Lindzie ( which she rubbed in to every kid there...I give up!) I haven't felt much like eating today, my mouth is less sore, but I am just blah. Getting very nervous about Dads surgery. Rick is staying home tomorrow, and driving down the day of sugery, and then back home that night...I keep telling him he does not have to...but he just tells me they were there for him through all the years, and especially this last one, and he is coming down! So there! LOL! I love hearing all y'alls NSV's. My best new one is also clothes related! I had this huge brain fart, and had not connected that I was leaving with Dad tomorrow, and was thinking that I was going to this funeral with Rick tomorrow. So was wondering what I would wear. Back just before New Years, my DD gave me this beautiful pair of pants, they are a Jr.s 15, they are black, and have a small pintstripe of a shinier black through them, they just look VERY classy. I worked so hard to be able to wear them to the company party---didn't make it!!!! Breathing may be overrated, but the fear of popping the zipper or the butt out overpowered it, and I wore something else. I thought maybe they might be a little looser now, and figured I could wear them. I then realized, I was going to be gone....and did not need funeral attire, but this morning decided to see if it would have fit. They are loose, I can breath, bend over, squat.....and pull them up!!!! They could be worn, but loosely!!!! JUNIOR sized no less!!!! Not a little size, but who the heck cares!!!!????? I am taking my lap top, and have supposedly got free connection at the motel.....but last I tried at the hospital I had none, so will just check in in the evening. TracyK---you don't get your hopes up---I'll do it for you!!! That place sounds perfect for you! Good Luck! Jennifer---I do drink hot tea, but I am very wierd about it!!! I do not think it tastes the same if it is brewed by the cup with the little tea bag!!! I still drink iced tea year round, so I just brew my iced tea, then pour a cup and microwave it. Then I put a bit of honey in it to help with my throat, and I like it just fine!!! Hope you feel better. Judy---Good Luck on your party---enjoy yourself!!! Maybe you and Ethan can play outside a good part of the day!!! Michelle---50 pounds!!! Congrats my friend, job well done!!!! Denise--the baby chart is cool... They know so much more to share than they did when I had a baby!!!! They told us Kinsey was going to be small, they said between 4 1/2 and 5 pounds. She weighed 4 lbs, 14 oz. Then they said Connor was going to be right around 5 pounds, and he was 5 lbs 3 oz.!!! Back in the day, they told me my oldest was between 6 and 6 1/2 pounds.......she was 8 lbs. 11 oz.!!! Half grown it felt like!!!! They have so much better care available now, and it allows you to be so informed of the developement...I love it!! Manda would call me, and tell me things like....this week the baby is growing fingernails, or this week the spine seals off.......it was VERY cool!!! Not to mention the changes in ultrasound pictures!!! I loved the girls pregnancies, I hope you can enjoy and be a part of this one!!! Manda took me to her ultrasound on my birthday, it was the day they told us it was a girl! Happy Birthday to Me!!! Well I am off to bed, I was waiting to get this last load out of the dryer....and it just buzzed!!!! Will check in soon!!!! Kat
