HELLO LADIES I want to take a minute and thank all of you for being so understanding and letting me vent last night. I just want you all to know that today was a much better day. First thing my DH did this morning was to give me a great BIG hug. Then to put the frosting on the cake, THE SUN WAS OUT TODAY. Shining very bright.........but it was only about 10 degrees outside. But that sun..........(gotta make those Florida Reservations) JANET - I caught the brownie bit, but it wasn't that I was afraid of you...........it just sounded so yummy, I decided to say anything was to tempt fate. Besides, I had my BigMac yesterday. (never again though) PEACHES - M & M's. That sounds really good. In fact, hubby and I were in K-Mart and there was a box of them on the check out lane. I had to hold them up and show DH. He was very surprised that I didn't buy them. Didn't want to go from 65 to 60 in less than a day. PHYL - I bought myself two new bras today while at K-Mart. Cheapies but in colors. And instead of a 42DD, I bought a 40D and a 40DD. Both felt good but I have to be able to wear them for a while till I know just how they fit. I think I might have to go Capris too. I noticed that the skin right above my knees is getting pretty crinkly. I told my hubby that if my mother doesn't outlive me, I'm going to use my inheritance for a body make=over, A total makeover. Man, this 58 year old brain just isn't functioning right. I wanted to respond to Karri, and Ruby and Linda and Stephanie and others too but I just can't remember. One of those senior moments. ANYWAY, HAVE A GOOD NIGHT AND IF I REMEMBER WHAT I WANTED TO POST, I'LL BE BACK. JUST DON'T HOLD YOUR BREATH. WHEN IT GOES, IT USUALLY STAYS GONE. Oh yeah, I remember something. My NSV of the day. Went to Meijers and all the riding carts were being used. Got a regular push cart and did my grocery shopping the normal way. It felt pretty good. OKAY, I'M OUT OF HERE. THIS IS GETTING PRETTY LONG.

So, I just had to report some more NSV's to my fellow bandsters!! My weight loss has plateaued again, which I don't understand because I'm not eating much at all!! But oh well, my body is still catching up to the weight loss. So last weekend, we took the high school youth group from our church up to Wolf Creek to go skiing. The last time I went skiing was in Jan of 06, I was 55 pounds heavier and I had problems getting the boots on because my calves were too big. They had to jerry-rig them to get them to fit. So, I was apprehensive going into this, but knew I wanted to ski. Let me tell you, I had a blast, and I'm sure I burned a heck of a lot of calories that day. The boots actually fit, and I could even feel my feet at the end of the day. So, I also decided that it was finally time for me to get some new clothes. I had been waiting until I was out of plus sizes, but just decided I wasn't losing all this weight to look horrible in clothes that were 4 sizes too big. I went to Ross & Kohl's on Wednesday and actually fit into a regular 16. Some stuff is still too tight in my arms and thighs, but I was able to get into most of it. I'll take some pics and post them to my blog sometime for you all to see. I'm actually picking clothes that are cute, and as I lose more, I really want to look cuter and cuter. Ruby, I wanted to chat about your surgery. I had a breast reduction done in Feb 05, and besides the band was one of the best decisions I could have made. I think I was a 42H before surgery, and now am about a 38C. I've been a full C cup since 05, but I've been losing the size in my chest, not in the bust. Are you a cash pay for that or is insurance covering it? I was actually able to get insurance to cover it after I complained to my various docs and they all recommended getting it done. Once I get down to goal, I really want to go back to Ireland and get a picture kissing the Blarney Stone. I have a pic of me doing that before any weight loss, and breast reduction and since you are laying on your back leaning over a ledge, all that fat really sticks out. That's the big thing I'm looking forward to. I have been lurking around here since I last posted, but just haven't posted. I will go back though and find my goals because I think I have met some of them!! I hope you all had a good week, and I'll make sure I'm back on this weekend. ~Nichole

I really don't pay too much attenion to that but I think I have about 3 in and all i know is i have the new band small - all those #'s are too much to keep track of - all i care about is the restriction and that I have and the weight loss and that's coming... I bought good candy cuz i don't the the little kids to suffer cuz i can't eat it - but you know what - i can - i had 1 reeses pb cup last night (again) but it was only one... and i was truely satisfied with one - and my midnight run to the kitchen only ate 1/2 of my sf fudgecicle. So my brain is working..... Linda - Thanks so much !!! I believe in truth - even if it hurts some times :0) - I have played all the mind games with myself for many years, i am a private eater - I am the one who would say - 1/4 of a pint of ice cream isn't a serving - the whole pint is just one serving - I watched a skinny girl in our office yesterday pull out a pint of ice cream - she had 5 bites and put it back - oh to be normal - but i guess i am getting there - 1 reese pb cup and not a whole bag last night :0) CC sorry about the hair loss - I am told that it happens to some - but that it does grow back- but that doesn't help while it's happening so here's a hug:girl_hug: My bmi started at i think 43 so that mean for us who weigh more we are going to lose faster than those who done (this is mho - i don't know if it's sciencifict or not) Are you keeping a food diary??? You may have just hit a platuea (sp). Increase the intensity of your exercise if you can - they say that's what burns the fat not the lenght of time but how hard you work out - drink plenty of water as that's one of the ways our body gets rid of the fat - talk to your doc/nutritionist about this.. I don't think i will be losing much this week with my little wine drinking this weekend and skiping exercise on Monday and tonite. this morning scale was down only 1/2 lbs from last week - i have had a fill and not eating half as much as i was the week before.. So who knows why our bodies seem so attached to our fat - Just keep up the good work and it will all work out in the end. I bet you do notice a diff in your clothes though and that's always a great NSV...

My band mommy looks HOT! I will post my pictures on Feb 9, which is my 6 month bandiversary. Yesterday was a huge NSV day. You all know that I have been struggling with body image issues, but I think I had a bit of a break through yesterday. We went to Wal-Mart last night and some of their clothes were marked down to 3.00$ and since that is cheaper than our thrift stores here I bought a few shirts. XL are starting to be a little to big so I thought I could go to a L. Well they didn't have larges in all of the colors/styles that I wanted so I decided I would get some mediums that I would shrink into. So I came home and tried them on and lo and behold some of the mediums actually fit. I will have to lose a few more pounds for all of them to fit, but I couldn't believe that I was standing in my living room wearing a size medium shirt. To be honest, even when I dreamed of what my smallest size would be when I lost the weight, I prayed that it would be a large. I don't ever forsee being in a small on the top because I really do have a wide rib cage. There is not much fat left on it and bones aren't supposed to shrink! But I can't even make a goal for the size pants that I will be in. All of this is unimaginable to me. For the first time last night I looked in the mirror and I didn't see myself as fat. It was earth shattering in a good way. Well I am sick as a dog. I think I caught what my BF had and it is terrible. I can't think and I am trying to plan for a sub and it just isn't working. Usually I strategically plan the days that I am absent so sub plans are easy, but when it happens that I am actually sick and need to be gone, sub plans are a nightmare.

I might have to start paying rent...

You are less than 2 months out and not even close to done losing yet. It will take months, even a year or two. That's a long time to freak out each time you step on the scale. So tell your hubby to hide the scale and enjoy his attention instead! Keep a log of NSV's instead...way more fun and rewarding than numbers. -

I had the surgery 2 days before you and get the stall every week since week 4 but the scale is still moving down of course slower than the first month. I got discouraged at first, but then when the stall started to be the regular lol I just started to appreciate the NSVs, I went to all clothes in the closet, some were totally tight pre-op and now it's loosing. Got a new haircut, try some new makeup and bought accessories. I don't want to but new clothes now, still enjoy the loosing gap between my body and the clothes size 14-16 and even some model in size 12 . I think I might be able to fit into size 12 now but I'm not ready to try the new clothes just yet, I'm still high on this NVS lol. Also please check if you have enough calories intake, the stall always visits when I do over exercises because I cannot really eat more for the portion and I'm too scared of carbs and high callories food. I started to tone up the body with basic yoga & light weight lifting when I cannot go for a walk. Seem like I didn't lose many inches neither at least in the passt 2 weeks but my clothes are more loosing. I guess it just shrinked down into shape. It's amazing how our body works! -
Hi guys! I have to share my NSV with you: I no longer can shop in the women's/plus size clothing section, it's all too big! Sleeved on 2/24/14, I feel awesome. I'm 212lb as of yesterday, down from 278! Just wish my boobs would stop shrinking already!

How's everyone doing? Hope all is well; it's been quiet in here lately! I finally hit my 70 pounds down mark this morning! I feel like my weight loss has really slowed and it took me forever to get from 60 to 70 pounds. I'm not sure if I'm eating more or too many carbs or what, but I don't like it! I really wanted to hit my mid-goal of 145 by 6 months out (118 pounds lost). This is looking less and less achievable with each passing day. 50 pounds to go and a little less than two months to do it. I starting running, and I LOVE it. I have my last run tomorrow to complete my coach to 5K program! I couldn't run more than 60 seconds at a time when I started and yesterday I ran for 28 minutes straight. Seriously the biggest NSV for me! Let me know how you all are doing!!!! -
I am SO looking forward to meeting you all... It's only a little over 2 months away.... don't expect me to be skinny but I'll be a lot healthier than I was a year ago... BP is coming down... so that's a NSV.. No Dairy Queen's lately (since my last Yuk-up) that was aweful... Mother's Day celebrations left me making some bad food choices, but I am getting back on track this week. Hugs to everyone
-
Ruby - you have every right to toot your own horn on this:clap2::whoo: congrats:clap2: -It just proves that just cuz you are skinny doesn't mean yo are fit. I am doing speed 3.2 on interval with a 3.5 incline - I do 30 minutes the days that I work out on weights and 40 to 60 minutes on the days I don't... I understand your excitement for me just going to the gym is a NSV....

Thanks Phyl - drinking some new energy drink advocare ??? we will see what it does.. Karri - I usually get up at 5 a.m. cuz I like a cup of coffee & my bad habit (smokes) and I hate rushing in the mornings - i get in the shower around 6 and out the door a little after 7 - am at work before 7:30 I just had to exercise today... I can't beleive those word are comming out of my mouth - but they are - so that in it's self is a BIG NSV for me.. I wanted to be a teacher when I was a little girl - I was going to be a teacher and my grandma and I would live together - she would have a lavendar bedroom and I would have a horse :biggrin1: - I don't think I could teach teenagers - I would rather have the younger ones - k thru 5 before all those attidutes set in.. Phyl you said that right - school isn't what it use to be reading writing arthimatic - now it's algebra in 1st grade:eek: cornell notes in 6th grade- I didn't know what that was and my grandson had to take cornell notes..

That's interesting about those who have had ps - I read the threads occassionally mostly to look for those who have had their arms done and see their pictures. I think that even without the surgery that;s the whole problem with maintaining is that we know we look good and a little this or that doesn't put on the weight - so it's a little more of this or that - a day or two missed of exercise oh that won't hurt - Well ya all those things add up and it does hurt - the lbs come back. I know that I have 4 more months til 2 yr anniversary - and in the past I have kept the weight off for 2 yrs - but then it slowly creeped back on - I spoke of this in the begining - my whole things was were I will be in 3-4-5 yrs after losing the weight - For me having the PS and not being able to exercise for a while - worries me - getting out of my routine - you all know how that is - once you get out it's so hard to get back into it. And you are so right about the looking good - I know I say it's icing on the cake - but I gotta say I love it - I do love the way I look today - I love being called tiny, skinny. On my mentor thread a lot of the ladies don't get that from their families or friends - I guess I'm lucky - I do - I get that reinforcement and I think that helps with not going back to my old ways. That and just cuz I feel so much better. I just realized this morning (yes it was 4:20 when I got up) that I am going to be able to take the stairs on the ship.. For those of you who haven't crusied the 1st day on ship the elevators are jammed packed and very slow with 2500+ pple getting on ship - so it's faster to take the stairs (I'm on the 7th deck) - Sitting having my coffee this morning - I thought oh - I will be able to take the stairs with no problems this time. What a great NSV for me !!! Also another great NSV is to be able to go zip lining !! There is a 220 lbs weight limitation - No problem !!! Well, this all goes to why I have kept so diligent on my exercise - it has to be a way of life along with the healthy eating - Between those 2 things and all of you - It has helped me stay on that mindset The support here - the accountablity here is very motivating... I know I haven't said it in a long time - but I think of you guys daily in my life. Oh I gotta tell Karri this or I gotta tell Phyl that - Candice will love this - Steph will understand you get my drift. You all are such a big part of my life and I am so very happy that we are together. Isn't it funny - that being on lbt gave us a whole new family.. Omw - I am sentimental this morning - I don't pms any more - but this must be one of those times where I have the symptoms of it anyway - In the past when I got pms I use to get very angry then towards the end - I got very lovie dovey I would tell my Xdh - oh I love you and he would say you must be pmsing and then I would look at the calendar and say oh ya I am  Really I think cuz I am going to be missing you all - a whole week with out you guys... I have never been gone a whole week from here... That's scary for me.. So I may just have to buy the minutes on the ship and pop in to say hi quickly... Ok now I really am going to have to check in !!! To see how that goes!! Ya I think that once he mets the doc and sees how clean the facalties are he will change his mind.. Good Morning Gang - Yep I'm up early - I think it's cuz I am really excited and I want tomorrow to get here.. Having coffee waiting for 7 to hit the gym (so I can pack my tennis shoes) then go get my hair cut at 9 then nails - a little target shopping - wash my sheets - vaccum my room. Oh did I tell you - I am packed - was worried my stuff wouldn't fit in my new suitcase - so packed it last night - fits like a dream with a little room left - not much - but this is the kicker - I have one suit case just for shoes !!! It's my little rolling carry on - I have casual black shoes - dressy black shoes - my fun multi color heels - white shoes - tennis shoes and yes threw in 3 pairs of flip flops on top of that.. The problem now a days is that my shoes now consist of heels well really platform type shoes where as before all I wore was flats (thong sandals) cuz that's all my feet could stand and even walking in those hurt my feet - Now I can walk all day in some of my casual platform type shoes.. Ok off the fb to play some pathword I will ck back later.. Hugs & Love Janet

Karri - Great NSV 1.25 miles - if I can jog for 1/10 of a mile I am happy - I can say that I have increased my incline to 4 -5-6 and I feel good at that and have increased my mileage to 3.5 - will do that for a couple of week then push it up to 4. I feel the same way about support group in person - why - I have all the support i need right here and it's open 24/7 and I don't have to drive anywhere. Ours is lapband only - and the one we had the 1st of Feb was ok - I got a little out of it but not much - and it make a long day for me and I miss my exercise - so I may go in March if Phyl goes just to see her. As far as being out spoken like me - so what these people need a reality check - I think the lady you are going with may benefit from some counseling - There is no shame in it - not everyone can do it on their own and they may have deeper issues that need the help of a professional - I guess for some of us the whole serious issue of having surgery was what we needed to finally get it - I really think that alot of people who have the surgery be it bypass or band - really think in the back of their minds that the surgery alone will take care of their food issues and weight problems - As WE ALL KNOW THAT'S NOT TRUE - WE HAVE TO DO THE WORK... Yes just saying thank you is so hard - I have been doing it though - I love it.. Ruby Glad to hear you are doing so much better and had a good time with your son - I totally agree to take it easy for a day or 2... Ok - I started this an hour ago - phone keeps ringing - just found out another gf just went to Mex - Dr Oritz and got banded she called to ask questions... Well phone is ringing again - will ck back later..
-
Phyl I agree I really don't have any temptations - it's all about choices aka trade offs - budgeting calories If I really really want something I will have a lower calorie version or just one serving not the whole darn thing. Yesterday at the grocery store while bagging my food - they had these little sample packs of some kind of candy - Choc - the girl threw 3 of the little baggies in my bag - I just told her no thank you I don't want those and she took them out great NSV - plus I was tired hungry and I might have eaten them and I don't need them - I want my last 5 lbs gone Yes that's right I changed my ticker back to 160 - I truly feel that that's going to be a good weight that I can live with and if I do go below so be it - icing on the cake - but for once in my life I want to get to goal and for my age I think its a good weight - I read an article that the majority of the women are 5'4 and weigh 164 lbs.. So I will be 4lbs less than the average - and size 10 ain't nothing to sneeze at either - was 18/20 in pant last July Steph - Choice to eat 1 or 2 egg rolls and that's it - you will be full if you can even eat 2 - I could only eat 1/2 of one at the fair this yr. Peaches - So I take it socialized/universal medicine isn't all that it's cracked up to be... You gotta wait 3 months for something - Here in the states that can't turn you away at the ER if you are sick but after they fix you up then send you to the county hospital (medical/welfare) Linda - Good choice !!! sounds good - I'm hungry You are right about the grandkids - I will always take care of them.. Dinners tomorrow - It's me and my fur babies tonite OH I ALMOST FORGOT... Got the results (well sort of ) of my blood test I need FOLIATE ?? and get this my bad cholesterol was 100 it's now 121 WTF is that about - I am not eating 1/4 of the fat I use to eat.. My overall cholesterol is 175 but the bad has jumped?? Maybe it's the olive oil - prior to banding I used canola/corn oil blend - I just can't believe this - I am 85 lbs light but my bad cholesterol increases... and I exercise.. I guess I am going to have to try that steel oatmeal ???
-
Felicia - That's how I started - I am trying to do 40 min a day at lease 3 times a week - either before or after work Saturday I walked for 1 hr :clap2: (I hate exercise:)) so this was a great nsv for me...

Ok, so it's been a very crazy couple of weeks, and it was fun to read everyone's updates from Christmas & New Years!! I do have a huge (for me anyway) NSV to announce. For Christmas, my hubby got me a Hawaiian dress. It's an XL (Not in plus) and I actually got into it and got it zipped. My stomach is still big and it's a little tight in that area, but I couldn't believe that I could actually get into it. I'm also down to 217 which is a total of 51 pounds. I'm so glad to see the scale moving again, and now know that I really need to kick the exercise into gear this month so that I don't put any back on or stop losing again. I turn 29 on the 25th of January, and I"m hoping to hit onderland before then, but the only way that's going to happen is if I exercise, so I really need to get motivated. I did 10 days for the December challenge and really want to make it for the January one. Well, I need to go get my Creative Memories inventory counted for end of year but I'll be back on later. ~Nichole

Lindaa, congrats on your NSV!!! Don't you just love the band?!?!?! You'll be off that med in no time! Appleblossom, work it!!! You're gonna get that sexy new dress and be a knockout at that convention/conference! SSankof, way to go! That's right. Get back in the saddle. Be proud of yourself for sticking to the exercise. We all understand how during that TOM, no one wants to do anything. Aunt Flo just makes it that way for some of us. Your consistency will continue to pay off! Brandy, I am so proud of you! Look at how great you're doing. And from the sounds of your menu, you're making great choices. Keep it up. Indiogirl, LOL!!! The Food Angel. I love it! We'll help keep you on track, as you do w/us. Hi Auntie Phyl, Dini (where are you), Sunny, Kathybad, Jackie, Frustrated, Caolin, MsPris (we've MISSED you!!!), and everyone else. P.S.- I also have a part-time job (working at the Hampton Inn), so I've been super busy. I really miss ya'll!

Hey Jessica--My band twin! Wow! Level 3! I'll be cheering for you! Kathy--I PMed you. Thank you again for setting this up and tracking us. Phyl--What a nice pic! You have changed a lot since summer--you just glow! My NSV for the week was to be able to button the buttons on my daughter's North Face winter jacket. Now she is a size 6, although the jacket is a L, but none the less, it was a huge NSV for me! I think she wants to give the jacket to me so I can buy her a new one--we'll have to see about that! I kinda think I should get to buy a new one. . . Got the Christmas tree up. Today I'll clean up the house and maybe put up afew more decorations. Kinda cluttered here, with my son and his wife living downstairs, my daughter home from school and another son coming home next week. I LOVE IT! So fun to have them around and all their friends. Constant people coming and going. I don't even miss dh right now.

Any Kansas City bandsters???????
KS_sxychoc replied to ladykcusa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My NSV...I've been buying shirts at Old Navy in the XXL size, but they are hanging off of me very funny now. Gotta try another size. My scale victory...Running around the stadium and airport on Saturday made me lose 3 pounds. I waited a few days for it to come back, but it didn't. So now I claim victory over those 3 pounds. How did you all enjoy your weekend? -
Tammy: Thats awesome about your NSV!!! It feels good to be losing doesn't it! Keep up the good work...and Grocery store here you come! Janet: I have a 9.75 cm band. NSV - - Coaching daughter tball team this summer - wrapping a normal size towel around me and it fitting! - people that I know fairly well not seeing me for two months and not recognizing me when they do - dressing up - my hair - it feels amazing and looks amazing. I never realized how the food I put in my body could have an effect on my hair! Ever since surgery and better food choices my hair feels/looks good! Like I just went to the salon that day! - exercising- it's actually a little addictive and the days I don't get my at least 3 mile walk in I feel guilty and crappy. - my hubby being able to wrap his arms all around my waist with extra room to spare. This feels sooo good! - my confidence - it has sky rocketed! I walk around my house in a sports bra and don't feel like I have to hide my body in front of my hubby. I know I have so many more but this is what I can think of off my head right now. What are some of yours?
