I was banded last Thursday by Dr. Alldredge and I must report the 1st NSV (Non-Scale Victory): I am officially off of caffeine! I have been a Caffeine addict since I was a young child. I have not had a sip of soda, nor will I succomb to my worst vice!! I began to wean myself a week ago, then had my last drink on Weds. night. Headache from hell!!!! Thank goodness for the liquid drugs on Thursday thru Sat. I have been taking 500mg of Tylenol twice a day since. I feel great! My band will be my tool to rise above it all!!!!! Good luck to all of the rest of you!!!

Yes - I think that what we all provide to each other - the helping hand... Ya - I haven't done the xmas cookie or tamales yet - was just looking at the calendar and thinking when did DIL tell me she was off - I think it's the 22nd so that's when we will be cooking - I will allow myself treats but I will exercise to make up for the treats.. Thank you Linda !!!- Sometimes I think I come off to ridged and truely give tough LOVE in my heart - I know the struggles that we all have with our trigger foods and right now is a very different time for us - cuz in the past we would have PIGGED OUT on all the junk - but do you really miss it - when i do have a treat - it's not really as good as i remember plus then I worry about the scales not moving on my weigh in day - I have been so very lucky that even if its only 1/2 lbs the scales have kept moving downwards - this band does help so much... Last nite had munchies - had some pig skins 8= 80 calorie - I had about 4 or 5 and was full - so where before I could eat half the bag if not the whole bag I had just enought - GREAT NSV for me - the last couple of nites have only gotten up and drank some juice (lite). Sometimes for me the first few bites go down easy then like you Linda - It will hit me - even with the pig skins last nite had just a tad of slime (tmi) Well, it's Monday morning another week of work - I have a dentist appt on Wed - I love my dentist - but ..... I am afarid i am going to have to have a tooth pulled - it's already had a root canal and I think it's loose - but will put off til next yr cuz I just did flex spending account for next yr to help cover the cost- I expect when all is said and done even with insurance - tooth pulled - new bridge i will be out over $1000 Well Ladies - Have a good day - MAKE GOOD food CHOICES & GET YOUR EXERCISE IN... I will check in later - if I can - depends on my el-groovo boss...

Almost forgot... a lady that was at church today for the first time in about a month said... "hey, skinny!" as I was leaving after church. Love those NSV's!!! I know I'm not skinny yet, but I know I'm so different than what I was 8 months ago, and different than what I'll be 4 months from now!! It keeps getting better and better!!! -
What a GREAT NSV!!! So exciting!!! Congratz!!! You worked hard, now show it off sistah! The fashion show is a GREAT idea...I'm going to pass that idea on to our patient coordinator!

My pants are loose, although, I don't really think I've gone down a pants-size, YET. My shirts are a lot longer....if you're like me, you spend a lot of time pulling shirts down to cover everything up. I haven't been doing that at all lately. My wedding/engagement rings are no longer tight. My greatest NSV is my face is much thinner. I have a picture of me taken the day of my surgery, and took one 2 days of ago of me and my youngest son, and there is a marked difference. That makes me so happy. I have been so self-conscious about my face, chins and neck, and I love seeing the improvement so soon. Keep going....this is all so exciting! I love reading everyone else's NSV's!

Phyl - lunch was good choice - we have to be able to eat regular food sometime - we can't alway eat carrots & celery... Not eating the bread, chips and soda great nsv and saved ton's of calories ... and I see you are getting your exercise in :clap2::clap2: Salsa You and I are the same starting weight... I just noticed... How tall are you - I'm 5 3 1/2 but say I am 5'4 - I see your goal is 150 - mine was 170 but changed it to 160 and have been thinking about changing again to 150 since as it stands now i have like 36 to goal and if i keep losing as i have that will be about another 3 1/2 months - so what's 10 more pounds and 150 would give me a better bmi - but I think 145 is what is optimal for my height to be considered normal.. You have age on your side as far as the skin issue goes - I think I will keep 160 and when i get there I can always change to 150... What a friggin cop out Janet - but I'm old :0) my skin might just be too ugly at 150 - little lies - see i am human too

I am going to be apart of a WLS fashion show this coming thursday and of course I have nothing to wear, so my friends at the gym offered to let me borrow a dress from them. The first dress- black cocktail size 14- fit like a glove. This material was not stretchy either. The second dress- is a black and white dress (not as formal)- size 8 (made from stretchy material) it fit like a glove too!!!!!!!OMG!!!!!!!!!! I am not a size 8 by any stretch, but the fact that it fit stretchy or not was an amazing feeling. Now I don't know which dress to choose.

O yeah, some NSV, my pants were 24-26, I am now wearing some of my 22's. My shirts were 3X's and tight, I am able to wear some of my 2X's with comfort. And all of my 3X's are lose. I used to put a pillow under my shirts for a minute or two to stretch them out so they would not be so form fitting. Haven't had to do that in a while now. My face looks really thin compared to the balloon face I had a year ago. Last year at this time I weighed 308, I am 263 now. So things are moving...

You're right! It stands for "non-scale victory." I'm hoping for some NSVs today as I need to go through my clothes and pack up summer clothes and unpack winter clothes. I've kept all sizes down to size 10 when I lost weight four years ago. I'm nowhere near a 10 but I'm hoping maybe a few things will fit that I haven't been able to wear for awhile. I've already been wearing some things that technically fit before but didn't look good. I'm not as lumpy as I was before the surgery so I can wear them now.

I wanted to ask what NSV stand for if you do not mind....LOL I am imagining it is noticeible wieght changes. I have gone down two pant sizes and am wearing shirts I have not had on in a very long time. Woo Hoo so exciting. I actually have size 16 clothes in my closet because I had gotten down that small before this last huge wieght gain I did over 2 1/2 years. I am excited about wearing them again.......and even surpassing that size in a year. COngratulations to us all for our huge achievements already!!

Morning, Violets.. I got home at 9 last night and went right to bed. Slept pretty good til 1 and then was up with a coughing spell. I ran out of cough medicine.. the only one that works for me is a script one so I'll have to ask my doc at choir rehearsal today for a refill script. Rehearsal is from 9:30 - noon with a potluck afterwards. Then I'm coming home and crashing for the day. Got to shake this dang cold somehow. Zicam, do yer stuff!!! Saw someone the other night at rehearsal that came up to me and told me I was getting skinny. Those NSV's are the best! Got to go curl my hair and get on the road to rehearsal. Organist and I are decorating the tables and getting the punch so I need to be at chruch early to help her. Everyone have a great day! Pamela.... I've told you before.. my church's mantra is... no matter who you are, or where you are in life's journey... you're welcome here! Obama and I are proud to be UCC!! TTFN!! -
Congrats, that's a cool NSV.............can't wait to get there. Keep up the good work!
-
I think the fact that we're having NSV's and being barely a month out of surgery is a NSV in itself! I mean, how many diets have you guys been on where you didn't see any dramatic improvement - or it took so durn long to lose anything, you couldn't remember what you looked like to begin with? We all kick butt!

Woo Hoo!! Second fill and three NSV's today!!
juliegeraci replied to kagoscuba's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Great job on the NSVs! Way to go! -
So, I went to get my second fill today, as I've been feelnig rather hungry. When I saw the barium go through the band pre-adjustment, I was shocked and the doctor said "wow, you are wide open." I asked him why, since I saw last time it was pretty restrictive. He just smiled and said, "Because you are losing weight and there is less fat pushing around the band. The fat pushing around the band also helps restriction, but once you lose fat the band can and will get looser "on it's own." He asked me how restricted I wanted to be and I told him to go for the gusto. He told me I'm "liquid tight" right now, and I'd better chew good in two weeks, when I go back to solids. Very cool. Three NSV's 1. Wearing jeans I haven't worn in 2.5 years 2. Losing enough weight to affect the band 3. Having the radiology tech say, "Hey, you are looking good, you're getting to be a skinny man!!!" If he wasn't a dude, I would have kissed him, so I just slapped him on the a$$. *kidding*

Shhhh, I couldn't be happier for you. I KNOW that feeling. When I lost that 20 lbs that let me slip in siZE 18 jeans , it was like I had climbed a mountain. I was done with the plus size department. Be proud of yourself , this is a HUGE nsv. Your band sister, edie
