I didn't think i'd lose a single pound this week but my trusty scale came through, down 2lbs as of this morning. I had a NSV today that really made me take notice. I went to use the tricep press at the gym, sat down and started pushing down and realized the handles were turned in and I was clearing my hips with inches to spare. For as long as I can remember I have always had to turn the handles out or I'd never be able to push past my huge hips!

Well everyone, I tried so hard this last week. I lost 7 pounds!!! WOOHOO! I am so excited!! What a great birthday present!!! I am now at 101 pounds until goal!! WOOT! I went to the 2nd hand store and bought jeans over the weekend and I am down from a 30/32 to a 20 or 22 depending on the brand. So, this week I have had a SV and a NSV!

    July Butterflies Master Thread

I'm still floating around. School started, I'm a school bus driver, so I've been busy. I'm on mushies untill friday and friday cant get here quick enough! I cheated though this past friday . I had a party at my house and ate a few chips with salsa and a 1" brownie, It could have been worst in my oppinion. Normaly I would have eaten the whole pan of brownies I've had a few NSV's! I can now walk down the bus isle with out zig-zaging between the seats! I almost did the happy dance in the bus yard! (I saved it for home instead!) and my belly no longer touches the stearing wheel.
  4. Evening, Violets.. We're baaaaaaaack. It was a great meeting with very interesting speakers. One of the pastors had gastric bypass in January and he had lost 80#. He really needed to lose it fast for health reasons, but he ended up in the hospital for 5 weeks with sepsis. I tried not to rub it in that we only spent one night. I sure did notice how many overweight people were at this meeting and I know I would have been one of them were it not for the band. I can't tell you what a great feeling it is to not be the heaviest one in the group. Well, I'm guessing you all have had that same nsv, and it's a very motivating one. I'm going to go watch the second half of the Pistons game and the Tigers and then head to the hot tub if it isn't raining and then to bed. Everyone have a good evening..
  5. We're Back! Had a very nice time @ bro in-laws house... the soccer games didn't go so well, lost the 2 yesterday, won the 1 today, but it wasn't enough to get into the finals so we came on home. Now it's time to gear up for the new week! Tried, tried, tried to be "good" w/food... did ok I think... am nervous to weigh in tomorrow but I must... Hi Lunasa... if at first you don't succeed, try, try again! Keep checking in w/us!! Fantastic job w/the no smoking, Tracy! Love the ring, Terry! If you're not feeling better, then go see a doc tomorrow, Laura!! A new pool! Lucky Suzie!! Great NSVs, Janie!! Glad the sleep-over went well, Judy. I can relate: there were 10 of us sleeping at my bro-in-law's! The kids got to all sleep in the playroom... talk about fun for them!! Hey Jen! How's the puppy adjusting, TracyKS? Everyone: Hi!
  6. I'm doing well. Thanks for asking. I've been on vacation this week. We had an out of state wedding and some work to do on the house. We also went to an amusement park and a water park. NSV's all day long at both of those places!! I haven't actually scheduled anything yet. I'm thinking late summer - with insurance requirements (18 months out from WLS) and time off work ... I'm looking at about this time next year anyway. I am anxious to get a few professional opinions though. I have a few doctors my band surgeon recommended and I want to see Dr Schulman. I know you are anxious for phase two – has your surgeon given you any indication of a time frame?
  7. Denise: Prayers for your daughter! Michelle: THAT IS GREAT!!!!!!! Terry: I can not believe I weigh LESS THAN YOU! Suzie: Does a pool boy come with?? TracyK: YEEEHAWWWWWW!!!!!!! Laura: try not to stress out about your period, but I know its impossible Pamela: Happy Late Bday! Kat: HAVE FUN at the rally!!!!! you flatbellied hottie OK.. so my nsv for yesterday was that I DID NOT EAT ANY ICECREAM 178.6 today Big meeting today......... so big that I lost a lot of sleep last night.. gotta go
  8. Good Evening, Violets.. Just finished stripping the wallpaper from 2 of the 4 walls and have the things taped that I want to start painting tomorrow. I have tomorrow and parts of Tuesday to get as much done as possible before Ethan comes the rest of the week. Church was great today. I was 36 when we left there and now I'm pushing 61. Doesn't seem like that much time has passed. We got to see a lot of the people that were there when we were there and some new faces too. We went out to lunch with some good friends of ours from there and it was like stepping back in time. Instead of it being 24 years, it seems like it was only 24 hours. Tomorrow we get the new car. We're going to miss the truck, but not the gas mileage! Now if we can sell the RV, I'll be really happy. Going to head to bed soon. Everyone sleep well. Oh.. NSV today.. one of the older ladies said... where did you leave the rest of you??? I didn't know what she meant at first, but she was talking about my weight!! It just felt sooooo good to not feel like all eyes were on me trying to guess how fat I was. I really felt like a normal person!! (((hugs everyone!!)))
  9. Judy, what a difference. Holy smokes!!!!! and what a great NSV

hi guys! i've missed you!!! chris - i went to my pcp then bidmc for 2 weeks in a row and finally it ended on its own after 1 round of antibiotics, a recurrance and dr visits. this may be gross but eventually i opened the wound myself and squeezed all the pus out, put a dressing on and watched it carefully, now it's fine but it took a few weeks. sorry i missed that chat things have been busy with work and my hubby and i are house hunting, it sucks! we are both from ohio and hate the price of houses that we can get for less than 150000 back home! nana - good luck with the psycho psych! she's nice enough just realy weird..kinda like an touchy feely earthy crunchy vermonter. be prepared...she yelled at me about making sure i thought this through cuz it's a big decision, well no duh?!?!?! beth - hows' it goin? was the mtg in norwell good for you south shore peeps? i can't wait to meet you all. on the other mass site i think we are going to try to get a group of us together up her on the north shore too! well, i had a nsv this weekend...i bought a size 22 (from a 26-28) jeans after about 10 years ! woohoo for me! hugs to all! dez

Yay Regina! Quitting smoking is HUGE! I know from personal experience how tough it is to quit and I am so proud of you. The good thing about the weight loss is, you know exactly what you aren't doing. Just start tackling those things on your list one at a time. Get all your water in tomorrow or take a vitamin or something and get back in the swing of it. It is hard to remember everything we need to do every day! Melissa- 2 miles running is AWESOME!! My cousin and I are actually planning to do a run in June and my first day is Wednesday to start training. I told her I would decide by the end of the month if I am actually going to go through with the run! Barb-I'm happy you are doing well on solids. Be careful with those fills-don't be too aggressive! But hopefully having those polyps removed will help you tolerate more fill. You got 50 pounds off, I know you can get 50 more!! A sort of NSV today-I gave blood! The last few times I've tried, my iron was low. I've been taking liquid iron, but it wasn't helping, so I changed brands and I was fine today. I'm in the 5 gallon club at my local blood bank and I want to get to 10!
  14. Jaime - I got fills that were a few months apart. This worked for me (especially since I had to travel to get them) because I had to "adjust" myself...and also knowing FOR SURE that I needed a fill. I've lost a decent amount of weight. A little slower than others, but it's not a race, it's life! You don't HAVE TO get a fill anyway, it just helps the tool to work better. Just take your time and PLAN on a few fills the first year - you'll be fine and we're here for support. Brandy - thinking/praying for you and your DH...even way up here! Maybe the Northern Lights ARE majical?! Mini - that's just WAY COOL that you've been chosen. You should be very proud of how you've coped with this terrible disease in your life. I'm not sure I could be so graceful. Now: the boobs - I, too, have breast cancer in my near maternal side, but breast tissue changes so rapidly that I wouldn't get myself all worked up about it - because that can cause tissue changes too! The neighbors - this is going to sound corny/cheesy, but why don't you pray for your neighbors? Yeah, go ahead with the lawyers, etc., but maybe they just need a friend and that's why they want to live so close. After all that praying I suggest getting some really loud, young, super ADHD foster kids to play in the back yard! Works here! Lifesaver - I'm totally not interested in BFL (although that may change), but I wanted to thank you for passing along valuable information. Thank you, thank you! I was just thinking that I wrote, but no one was listening...then WHAMO tons of kudos for my NSV leather jacket! Thank you so much...I really DO need that sometimes! As do we all or we wouldn't be here. Halloween Challenge: Got my scale working so maybe I'll be able to weigh myself Friday. I'm on a volleyball team now and that's at least getting me active (and bruised...you should see my arms!)...even got slamed in the head from a Samoan spiking the ball! I'm so tough! (Sarcasm there!) Anyway, I've decided to not try so hard with the dieting...I was so miserable last week and not enjoyable to be around...I decided that I'll just be more careful about what I put in my mouth and choose "good" food over crap and see how that goes. I may be in need of a fill, but that's not happening for a while if it does at all. I'm not quitting, but I'm not going to be as miserable as I was a couple of years ago when I WAS fat and didn't have the Band!

Hi MOM, sad to say I stayed the same this week, still up one from the original weight. I just keep telling myself to be patient, my body is still adjusting, BUT I can really tell a difference in how my clothes fit now. NSV I think it's called, I still feel so much better then before the surgery.
  16. Evening, Violets.. Well, another concert done. We got a standing ovation so we must have done something right!! I had a couple of NSV's and then a real downer. Several people told me how nice I looked tonight.. actually heard the word pretty! BUT.. two of the girls forgot to bring white tee shirts to wear under the black tops so I told Bob to bring two of mine. One was a medium and one was a 2X from my former life. Well, the lady who wore the 2X one thanked me for bringing the shirt to her and said it was a good thing we were about the same size so it would fit her. arghhhhhhhhhhhhh I haven't worn a 2X in a long time! In those particular tees I wear a medium!!! OH well, can't have all NSV's all the time!! I'm off to go watch some TV with the Bobster and then head to bed. Everyone have a good night. Sleep well. We got Kat feeling better... now we really need to work on Laura!!!
  17. Thanks for the reminder Laura!!! I logged on and both my refunds hit my account!!! Actually were deposited on Valentines Day---and I had forgotten! Still waiting to hear from anyone---I have to say that really, seriously pisses me off! Do not tell someone you will call if you have no intention of doing so! I had an NSV this morning. You know I said we had to replace the toilet in the main bathroom---so I kept the box---as anyone around kids learns to do--this allows for hours of playtime. Well Kinsey and I both fit in the box!!! I was not sure my neck would ever straighten out right again---but we fit!!! She is now napping in the box!!! Rick and I have tossed ideas around, we usually buy something for the house or have some sort of plan for our tax return----but nothing this year! We had the same issue with Valentines Day! We kept trying to come up with a fun thing to buy for ourselves...nothing! I got my rose---I get every year---and we went to dinner. But we shopped on Thursday----found nothing! We ended up buying new shoes (tenny runners) and joked that they were our Valentine gift! Several years ago after I complained about my roses dying after Valentines Day...I said if the season were different I could have a rose bush for the garden instead--I have a rose garden--as well as a big yard. Well then the next year Rick give me a heart shaped box of candy, and a catalog from Jackson Perkins! So now each year I get to pick out a new rose---we order it as soon as Mother's Day passes which is our usual last freeze---and then when it comes in he plants it for me and Valentines is officially over for the year!! Thinking about one of the hybrids they have that are so pretty! Or maybe setting out some miniatures .....not sure yet! He said to irritate his secretary when she ask what he got me for Valentines Day, he told her a new toilet!!! Would have loved to have seen her face!! I have a roast in the crock pot, hoping it cooks tender enough for me to eat with my tooth! I need to go finish up cleaning out the fridge, and loading the DW----all the fun jobs!!! TTYL~~ Kat
  18. good morning ladies I have missed a lot.. I do want to say... Laura and Judy - my heros... you guys look great... I went out after work friday night to have a job celebration drink and was going to be home by midnight.. well... 4 drinks and 2 shots of tequilla on top of that and 4am later... i got home... NSV... was hit on by a cute guy... and actually danced with him... and at my bar where I never ever do anything like that... another friend came over looking me up and down and gave me a great big hug and hold me how great I looked... anyway, needless to say i slept until 2 when I got up to get my car from the bar and go to work, I think I was still drunk at work... so after working all night last night... I got home and was so tired, took a little nap at 1 and got up at 4 to go pick up my neice who was completely wasted and needed a ride. She is just 21 and I'm so proud of her for not drinking and driving. I never laughed so hard in all my life... she is so funny and her friends they were cracking me up... so we are 1 minute from home passing a small town, i'm speeding, laughing hysterically and then the police lights turn on... OH SHIT... one of the friends says... my uncl is the capt of the police dept... i'll just tell them who I am.... I was freaking out... saying no don't do that... so he just pulled me over for my headlight, which has a short and I told him I was picking up the drunk kids, he was impressed ran my license to find out i'm clean and sent us on our way... no ticket nothing... so that is what I've been up to... Oh, Judy, every time you tell us about stroms and high winds it arrives here the next day... I hope you keep your ice storm.. How exciting... another curise Kat... Hope you fell better Jane - you too Terry - so glad you got a day to relax, you need it Tracyks & TracyK, Haydee, Michelle - hi there I know I'm forgetting someone... so hugs to you all off to go early b-day shopping to get some clothes for my new job... have my last week of full time pizza shop this week. It is going to feel good to get dressed every day.

Shrinkin' Violets- Part 2 Read Here

I just had a nice experience. I guess you could call it an NSV. I've been a pretty good little bandster lately (even lost another pound!) so I'm in a bit of a 'groove'. Anyway, i went downstairs to our deli just to get some soup for lunch. There's a girl in front of me who's maybe 5'2" and about 240#. I kind of lean over and am looking at the pretty veggies that are available....some asparagus and squash...and i say to myself, "MMM..those look good!" Well she looks over and thinks I"m talking about the huge cookies that are right next to them and says, 'Oh yes they do!"....and grabs one for herself. She's waiting for her California Burger to come off the grill, has this humongous cookie, a Coke and bag of Cheetos. I had a cup of sausage & vegetable soup and a side of veggies. I'm NOT being critical of her, 'cause lord knows that was ME a year ago! I just had a moment there where I recognized that I HAVE made some progress. Yea me!

Vegas is my vote too. Regina, Congrats on being at that sweet spot. Barbara465, no more seat belt extenders is a great NSV. Enjoy. That image made me smile. Anyone else with a holiday NSV? Holiday NSV's are fun to read. I'm gonna be a lot happier to have my picture taken this Christmas. . I went back to my walking DVD yesterday and my back is much better. I'm glad I gave run/walking outdoors a try, but the DVD is easiest for right now. Positive thoughts to you Socalgal. Congrats on those long hikes, May they gobble up every calorie in those 2 cookies.

My pants got longer, too. It must be the weight loss in thighs and butt. If you think about it that makes sense. OK, so NSV for me...DH took me shopping for new clothes for my B-day. I tried a 12 first...way too big, then 10...still too big, finally size 8 fit!! I am in single digits! Remember, I am only 5 ft., so I am still not all the way there but 1/2 way feels pretty good.

Barbara465 Congratulations on the decorating - I am looking forward to seeing pictures! And also congratulations on the "new" jeans from your alternative closet. What fun to get back into clothes you wore before! Cathy Congratulations on your 3 lb loss! Way to go! And I am glad your dates have gone well. Good luck to you. Leecelove70 Congratulations on your total loss of 51 lbs! Wow! Melissa I am glad your fill is okay so far. Sorry you felt a little deprived on Thanksgiving. I have heard that "nothing tastes as good as thin feels" and I think that is going to be my new motto! The presents you wrapped are gorgeous! I so wish I could do that. Pinkylee What terrific NSV's - I guess that is proof of the motto above! I did okay over the holiday - I did take my Protein but not all of my Water. I was so busy with company (nineteen for dinner) that I would forget to drink the water. I was able to eat a little bit of just about everything during the main dinner but no other meals. I tried to eat a little turkey in the evening and it came right back up. I just don't understand what makes the difference. I think I am chewing well and eating slowily and sometimes it works and other times it doesn't .
  23. Jenn - good for you! TracyK - I loved the picture of you and your daughter. You look amazing. Congrat's on your NSV's as well! Michelle - what a wonderful Mom you are -- and you are beautiful in the pictures. Kat & TracyinKS - get well -get well - we want you t get well soon! (that is the song my DH sings to me) - wishing you a quick recovery.

    May's Chat

Hi everyone! I remember the days when I could not wait for the weekend, today I was glad to see it was over, I worked my butt off!!! DD's place will be so nice for her and the baby though, it is worth it. We got most of the kitchen and LR primed, textured and painted, the wainscoating (SP?) up in the LR, is looking awesome. So what did DH do?? He was worried about the main bathrooms floor, it seemed warped he thought. Well he was right, there was a leak going under the tub to the sink....both of which are now removed...along with the entire floor! So he is rebracing the floor, new insulation, and then the new floor. And while it is all being repaired, we might as well put new fixtures back in, says he...$$$ Add another weekend of work ahead of us! The whole project is giving DD and DH some very quality time together, which she needs, she needs to see what a real man is like. This is her step Dad, tho one would never know it, in fact more people comment on her looking like him than me!! It is pretty funny! Mary, I always think of some of the similarities you and my DD are going through with divorce. Her soon to be ex, finally decided to put the house on the market...and it sold within 24 hours, full asking price, CASH!! He is spinning his wheels now, he has to be out by the 23rd!! HA HA HA Hope you get as lucky! So....Beannie, my boots are paint covered and ready, better keep up the good work!! I am way to damn tired to be kickin' you!!! Thanks for all the input on the anniversary party. I have ordered from Oriental Trading twice now, and picked up odds and ends in every Dollar store in town. The Big Lots here has a section right now for Luaus, I got some cool Tiki statues there. And today at Target, I found fake coconuts for them to drink from! Also picked up a CD of Hawaiian music. My DD has several friends still in HI. She and her ex were stationed in Oahu for 4 years. So she is having real lei's flown over for my parents, the rest of us will make do with fakes!! When I took my folks over to visit with my DD when they were stationed there, my Mom fell in love with the Plumerias, so DD wants her to have some. We are planning on Teriyaki Chicken kabobs and grilled pineapple...any other food suggestions? Betty I never saw the bike....and would love to. We currently have 4 running, and he is working on #5. I am so looking forward to losing weight and enjoying it more. My back got to where it wouldn't take long rides. Congrats on your win...how fun!! Donna, the "poem", or writing you included was right on the money! I like that a lot. Thanks for sharing it! I fully believe being happy is a choice we make. You have to want to be happy. Sometimes it takes pulling out a good memory, to do it, but that's why you store those times like your great bike ride with DH....and use it to stay happy. So how did it go Cindy...did you make 3 days? I hope so!! I hate headaches, and remember my migraines, I cannot sympathize enough!! Hope you are working towards day 4! Sherry, how are the new rocks working? My Dad would kick my butt, some of those are NOT rocks, they are minerals!! He is a collector!! He has an awesome collection, the only rocks I have are in my head!!! Hope yours help! If so I'll go rob his collection! Patty...any luck on ties? I could send some but, the only kid I had who wore ties, was a daughter who worked awhile for Dairy queen, and all her old ties have Winnie the Pooh or Scooby doo on them!! Kids grow so fast it is hard to keep up with their clothes. Hopefully soon you will be needing smaller ones as fast as they need bigger ones!! How'd the color job turnout Bubbame? I have occasional highlights done by my stylist, would be scared to do my own, I'd end up with green hair or something! Ok, gonna quit here, and head to bed, sorry, I know I missed some of you...my brain went to bed without my body I think!! Oh yeah!! I have a big NSV......no Blood pressure meds for 2 weeks, and tonight it was 126/52. And I measured today, and have lost 12"....that's a foot!!! (Not however the one used to keep you in line Beannie!!) Night all!!! Kat

Barbara465, Hope you are better by now. I am feeling restriction in spurts. Maybe new fills take time to "get even" all the way around the band? Maybe your margarita loosened the band. Maybe the fun of the luncheon tightened your band (there is good tension too). When I am out with others, I always drink a hot drink before I eat anything. I haven't had a bad spell since doing that. (Hot tea is such a treat for me) I'm still struggling with my back, but the l.5 pounds I lost on Wednesday are still gone so that's a big NSV.
