My personal problem with GENEPRO is that their nutrition label does not "add up". There is 4 calories in 1 gram of Protein. 1 scoop has 30 grams of protein...there should, at a minimum, be 120 calories in 1 scoop...but 1 scoop only contains 98 calories....which means that the protein in genepro is somehow being manufactured in a manner that is not natural...on the flip side...all max protein is manufactured in Canada (a country that is very stringent in the supplement market with nutritional information) and their protein has 28 grams per scoop with 115 total calories (112 for pure protein and 3 grams of "fillers)....you simply do not know what u are getting in genepro Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I've used GENEPRO for months, now on my second order (soon to be a third--great stuff!!). I can put it in anything, can't taste it and I know I've hit my Protein goals of the day. No digestive problems at all.

I've been using GENEPRO and I love it. I mix it into coffee, Soups, puddings, juices. So versatile. I'm from Canada and I started ordering it off GNC.com. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I also agree on GENEPRO. It has been a life saver for me. I had several ups & downs with not being able to eat during the first 2 months. My surgeon said as long as I took my Vitamins & drank Protein, I would be ok. I hated the Bariatric Advantage & couldn't tolerate the unjury. I found that I liked cherry crystal light with the Genepro. Each scoop is 30 protein & I was getting 8 oz Water - bonus! It's been over 3 months now & I can eat anything. I do have a craving for Kraft Zesty Italian lite, so I have lots of salads. I've lost 55 lbs & have 35 to go. Hope that helps. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hi! I'm only day 5 post op but have a question... When you make your protein drink it's at least 8 oz right? Is this a meal replacement for you or a snack in addition to your meals? Confused on how someone said they can take a Greek yogurt and glass of Oj with genpro in morning.. Wouldn't that be too much for stomach?? Thanks for your insight Sent from my XT1585 using the BariatricPal App Hi! I put one scoop of Genepro (30 gram protein equiv) in about a quarter cup of OJ. So overall very little volume. I take it almost like a shot glass of alcohol. At first I had to take smaller sips. I also have a standard serving of Greek yogourt and my multivitamins in the morning with it. Hope that clarifies! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Thanks for that, that makes sense. I was thinking you did 8oz of oj. Gonna try genpro, doing unjury now and I can taste it Sent from my XT1585 using the BariatricPal App

The four cals per gram is the issue. It's a misconception. If you take a look at Genepro's website they have a video explaining their process. It's actually quite clear and scientifically proven. Their process is very advanced and fascinating. And for the record I don't work there or know them or anything lol. I'm from Canada and it's expensive to buy here, but it's worth it IMHO. Can I increase my protein this way?

I like GENEPRO unflavored protein! 30g per serving, and just adds a milky taste to what you mix it in, and you can mix it with anything! -
Reversal for gastric sleeve?
BLERDgirl replied to Gladys62's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you cannot tolerate the shakes, don't drink them. Find other ways to get in your Protein. I use an unflavored protein powder that I mix with pretty much everything. I add it into yogurt (a natural source of protein), I add it into Soups, I add it into coffee & tea, hot or cold. It can also be added to a 50/50 mix of fruit juice/water or stirred into a bit of apple sauce or mashed potatoes. A few brands of unflavored protein powders are Isopure unflavored, unjury and GENEPRO. One of the key things I did to get in more water/fluids was to add loads of ice to everything. Instead of traditional protein shakes try protein waters like propel. Again you are getting in protein AND Fluid at the same time. The shaking may be a symptom of dehydration. Please try to get your fluids in at all cost. I am sorry that it was not explained to you that a large portion of your stomach is cut away. Hopefully the suggestions in this post will help you make the best of it. -
I found a way to get my protein in! Yay!
gustavio replied to gustavio's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I ordered it online. It was $30 for a container of it. Well worth it! It saved my butt. I'm sure you can get unflavored at GNC or something as well. But genepro is formulated for post WLS patients from what I understand. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I wanted to share with you, i have been having issues with getting protein in. SO i was suggested to try GENEPRO which is not only flavorless it is actually TASTELESS. You add only 1 Tablespoon and get 30 grams protein and it has no taste. I actually love this stuff. Mix it in tea, coffee, chocolate milk and you wont taste it. It was definitely worth the money and AMAZING. just thought i would share with you all!

Having trouble eating!nothing tastes good
ShoppGirl replied to Nanagrrl3's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You can add unflavored protein to your pudding. Genepro has 7.2grams in a scoop (and the scoop is pretty small) so you could add at least a half if not a full scoop to a pudding?? This doesn’t add any variety which I know your looking for but adding protein may help you feel better to be able to tolorate more variety?? -
Puréed food ideas please help!

It's made by Jell-O! It's the bomb! I mix it with Fairlife 2% milk and 2 scoops of Genepro unflavored! -
Remember, fluids are the most important thing for us right now (I was sleeved 6/2), but there are good ways to get protein in without the shakes. Do you have any of the protein powders? I have two different powders: Isopure Zero Carb vanilla - 25g protein per scoop, and GENEPRO tasteless powder, 30g protein per scoop. The Genepro is really spendy, so I use it sparingly - mostly using the Isopure. You can get them both through Amazon. Here are three of the things I've been eating: Super Milk Pudding: SF pudding (I like cheesecake flavor) make up with 2c skim milk and 2/3 c powdered skim milk. Makes 8 servings 1/4 c each. You can add a scoop of vanilla Protein Powder if you want to amp up the protein. Without the powder it's 3g of protein per 1/4 cup (which is a great amount, I've found). If I add the protein powder, it doubles the protein to 6g. Cream of Wheat or Cream of Rice: Cook Cereal according to package directions. Dissolve 1 scoop protein powder in 1/4c milk. Stir into hot cereal. Mix in 1/8 t cinnamon and one MINI squeeze of Stevia (if that - I found it too sweet so next time I'm leaving out the Stevia altogether). This makes 2 servings 1/2 cup each. It slides right down and has 15g of protein in each of the 2 servings. Broth: Heat 1 c broth (homemade or canned low sodium) and mix in 1 scoop Genepro tasteless protein powder. 30g protein in the one cup. Anybody else have any good ideas / recipes for "full liquid" recipes????

Bypass RNY, Phase one! Liquid diet?
Dream4tc replied to RGraham87's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
1.Premier Protein is cheap and tastes great and is at walmart. 30 grams per bottle. They come in chocolate,.vanilla, and strawberry. Another good protein source is Optisource- they have caramel and strawberry and they are both delicious very cold or on ice. 2. Also you may want to consider Isopure protein looks like kool-aid but has 40 grams per bottle. They come in many different flavors. If you are close to a GNC, you can sample the flavors. This must be cold to drink in my opinion 3. Powerade zero, different kinds to mix with the Isopure 4. an unflavored protein that you can mix with food like unjury, or GENEPRO 5. sugar free ice pops 6. chicken , beef, vegetable broth 7. Crystal light sugar free 8. SOBE Lifewater is zero calories, and sugar free and is delicious! They carry different flavors. Apple fuji Pear is my favorite. 9. No sugar added grape, or apple juice ( will need to dilute half and half Water. 10. Fairlife fat free milk, has lots of protein and low calories. 11. Different extracts or Sugar free Torani syrups to help with flavor if modifying a shake. My brain is dead at 3am, can't think of any more right now....anyone want to add -
I am going on my 6th week post op. I can eat anything except raw veggies at this time. I am on the road all day seeing patients. So I bring cottage cheese, yogurt, and bring GENEPRO Protein to add to this. I can't tolerate shakes anymore. I don't know what to bring to eat!! I don't want to keep eating dairy and cheese all the time. I also don't want lunch meats as I know they are highly processed. I don't have access to a microwave. Any ideas what to take for lunches or small meals for the day? Thank you! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Non-sweet pre-made protein shake options
KJan replied to Anthropose's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had the same problem. The only way I could drink and can still drink the protein shake is to mix it with decaf coffee. Another alternative my doctor suggested was unflavored protein - by Genepro 30g per scoop- it truly is flavorless and can be mixed in liquids even soups and can even be added in things like scrambled eggs to increase the protein. -

Non-sweet pre-made protein shake options
Anthropose replied to Anthropose's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hey Kjan, I tried the GENEPRO, and it's working well. I mixed it into some diluted, sugar-free crystal lite, and I can't taste anything. I figured the amount of sucralose in my diluted crystal lite is unlikely to be greater than the amounts found in those sweet shakes. I'm also about to order some samplers from Unjury, as recommended by others. Did you have any problems with the protein powder becoming de-natured in your hot coffee? -

Hey All! I know that topic has come up a lot and I’ve tried searching but I was wondering what unflavored high protein powder you guys are using that has low calories. I’m just a week out of my sleeve surgery and I want to make sure I’m getting lots of my protein. I’m not liking the pre-made drinks or some HMR stuff that I have, so I’m hoping you guys know. I heard Genepro has high protein but had some lawsuits and might not be that actual high so looking for other options, maybe Isopure? Thanks!

December 2017 Gastric Bypass!
tankheadmommy replied to 823freckles's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I add Miralax (once a day) to my protein drink and it does not have a flavor. It helps with the constipation. Things I eat during pureed stage: guacamole tuna lentil soup egg salad chili ground turkey refried beans I make sure to get 70-80 grams of protein and more than 64oz of water. I put Genepro protein in my cocoa in the morning and I have Nectar Lemon Tea (also protein) in my water at the end of the day when I'm sick of drinking water...lol. I would look at the foods you already love and see how you can make a softer version. My doctor's office said I did not have to blend my food, I just needed to chew it really well. -

Unflavored Protein
TEXASLADY52 replied to Elizabethe Glickel's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I use GENEPRO....it is unflavored and oderless. You can mix it hot or cold. I have been using it for the last ten months and I love it. I had a hoorible time finding a Protein drink I could tolerate right after my surgry.....they all gagged me! I mix mine with Crystal Light (or Wyler...it is cheaper) lemonade and sip on it all day.....30 grams of protein per tablespoon.....so you don't have all the clumping and yucky stuff!
