    STARVING!!!

I added genepro protein powder to all my soups. The protein keeps me feeling full. Sent from my SM-G920V using BariatricPal mobile app
  2. SummerTimeGirl

    When will the stall end??

Interesting. I've thought about this and wondered if the lack of protein could be my problem/reason for my stalls. There are MANY days where my protein only falls around half, or a little more than half, of what I should be getting a day. I need to concentrate on upping it, I think. And if I can't with food at least taking it in the form of Genepro. That will get me where I need to be quickly/easily.
  3. I had a similar problem post op. Didn't mind the shakes before surgery but after they make me wanna vomit. My go to is 8-10 oz milk plus a scoop of GENEPRO flavorless protein (30 grams of protein). Mix and serve.

Truly don't know what to do

I use Genepro. I bought it off Amazon. It's a smaller scoop. The serving size is only 1Tbls and it packs 30g protein. It's tasteless and 100% dissolvable
  5. Fairlife milk has 50% more Protein than normal milk. Try sugar free Jello pudding, with unflavored protein mix. It's awesome. Make sure to use a high quality protein mix like GENEPRO. Sent from my XT1609 using BariatricPal mobile app
  6. Sleeved 09/06/16. Started 266 pre-op. Funny, at my post op apt now waiting to be seen by the surgeon. Lost 79lbs so far. Biggest challenges: 1. hair loss 2. Iron deficiency, 3. Protein Bar's and powder

I really like the Power Crunch bars. They taste more like a cookie as they have a wafer in them. Totally different then Quest. I really like the mint choc, peanut choc, Cookies and cream, and vanilla. I keep them in the freezer. You can buy individual ones at GNC and Walmart to taste them and buy them in bulk on Amazon. Protein powder: I use the Premier ready made (Choc and Vanilla) and then I also have GENEPRO in my coffee every morning before my workout and I also use Shakeology Vanilla and throw in some frozen blueberries and strawberries. ~LA
  8. First off I will contact my doctor. However I want to hear from you guys on this and how you dealt with it. I was able to eat meat, like steaks chicken, lean pork, ground meats up until about week ago. I'm not sure why but now animal Based Proteins hurt or sit like a rock in my stomach. Its,taking an hour or more for that heaviness pain to go away. I hate that feeling. I am chewing throughly, taking my time eating, serving the proper portion for this stage of my diet. I've even just ate a couple of bites and still had the feeling. I've been trying to eat plant based proteins and or depend on my genepro. Since I don't really have an experience on eating a vegetarian style, I'm struggling. I Pintrest recipes and read up on it however I worry if I am going to eat too many carbs or not get enough protien . My team pushes eating good proteins pretty hard. I do understand why. I just don't get how I can go from eating and tolerating to not being able to. I was sleeved 9/19/16. No real issues other than the normal bitching and moaning newly sleeved folks grapple with. I appreciate your input. Thanks

    Unflavored protien powder

I would search GENEPRO on this site. I am just not a fan of their weird science. I stand by unjury starter kit it is how I fell in love with their chicken broth. Have only tried their unflavored, chicken, and chocolate. For price and Protein comparison I am sticking with isopure on unflavored (25 vs 21) and premier for chocolate (30g) but love chicken. It has more sodium so I just have one per day.

    Question on Unjury

I also found genepro, I lIke it much more than unjury. It dissolves better and is more concentrated, a small scoop is 30 grams vs 21 for unjury I believe. I bought it off Amazon.com. How is the flavor?

    Unflavored protein

I tried GENEPRO the other day, put it in some chicken broth and all I tasted was the chicken broth. There were no clumps or weird taste. I was very happy. I purchased unflavored in order to put it in other things. I'm pretty okay with most ready to drink Protein shakes.

    Unflavored protein

If you use GENEPRO, look on their website for instructions on how to best mix it into different temperature foods. For example, I use a scoop in my coffee every morning, so I mix it with the milk that I'm going to add since it mixes better with cold liquids. You should use a fork, not a spoon. It does make a difference!

    Newbie question

You should get GENEPRO, it's unflavored protein, 30g per 1 tbsp, mixes instantly, can buy on Amazon and you can just add to skim milk, tea, Water, or something else. (I do almond milk). I was doing protein shakes the first few weeks and couldn't take it anymore. Also, my pre-op diet was 7 days, they said it was because I was on the smaller side and didn't need me to really lose that much weight. Everyone is different Also, a lot of people do 6 months because it's required by their insurance, not because of the surgeon's decision Sent from my LGLS990 using the BariatricPal App
  15. Hi! You had your surgery a month before mine! I get GenePro unflavored protein powder on Amazon. It's 30 grams of protein and just 50 calories. You can put it in a Gatorade Zero shake it up and have your 30 grams of protein. I'll mix it with milk, almond milk, coconut milk etc first and then pour it in my coffee as a creamer. I do green smoothies with water or milk, scoop of protein, frozen fruit, spinach and kale add a little sugar substitute if needed and blend up in the blender! Lots of easy things you can do with it! Nice thing is it has no flavor and will take on the flavor of whatever you add it too. Good luck getting your protein in!
  16. Are you allowed to mix in protein powder like Genepro or does your surgeon want you to get in all the protein through foods alone?

    Starting a new Journey

You can mix almost any protein powder with water, they just generally taste better with milk. There's also an unflavored protein called Genepro that is used by tons of bariatric patients. I haven't tried it yet but it costs about the same as the Legion brand. The unflavored won't be any less expensive than the flavored but you are able to get more creative with it and get more bang for your buck.
  18. Ive read more than one poster reference a concern of sorts with this product. What are some of the key "science" concerns with GENEPRO? Sent from Dee~Dee via BariatricPal

    Genepro Unflavored Protein

@@Dairymary **It is not an FDA approved product and Until this company proves their claims with clinical trials, she considers it just snake oil.** NO Protein powders or supplements are FDA approved. The FDA won't test protein supplements because they don't regulate them. And 'in situ' means 'in place' or 'on the premises'. I'm married to a physician and have access to an entire department of bariatric surgeons who have extensive real-world experience with patients using GENEPRO and they have no issues with their patients using it because a) it works. My personal 'proof' that it's effective is over 60lbs of weight loss in 5 months, with no loss of muscle and great healing from my sleeve surgery and a subsequent orthopedic surgery.
  20. I purchased GENEPRO earlier today. The 30g Protein and no flavor was a selling point for me. I find Protein shakes revolting so far. Yes, I will drink them and pretend they taste good but I will gladly give them up. I am thinking the trick is to add the powder to things that are more familiar. I don't usually drink chocolate shakes but adding Protein Powder to broth and V8 sounds appealing. It will be a salty break.

    Help! Thighs are dying!

I'm 2.5 months post op gastric bypass. I'd been going to the gym every single day, sometimes 2-3 times a day. (It's become my new way of dealing with stress and my new social thing to do besides going out to eat with friends) Tuesday I met with a trainer because I was cleared by my Dr. for core workouts but was told to really ease into it. I was completely transparent with the trainer who told me he'd known and worked with other people with my predicament and that I'd be fine. I told him I had a lot of atrophy and was pretty sure I was malnourished and dehydrated often but that I was working hard on it. He had me stand on some scale thing that you hold the handles on and it sends some electro type pulses through you to separate the fluid from bone muscle and fat and stuff so it can read how your weight is distributed throughout. There's something in it that also reads your inflammation level and he said I had the highest he'd ever seen and also called a co-worker over to check it out and said congrats, you're a winner. After getting on the floor with him after the first set he had me do of squats I knew something was wrong. My legs immediately felt like spaghetti and I could barely stabilize myself. I told him it didn't feel right and he just said you're fine you can have 10 seconds and then did it again...so I did because I hate liking like a wimp (stupid pride) and again and again and lunges and ab excersise...i haven't been ale to walk well since. My legs keep going out from under me and I've nearly fallen down a few times just walking and at work (I stand all day and cut hair). It's Saturday morning and I woke up still in that day after kind of pain. I mean, I've worked with a trainer before and I know the pain but it's NEVER come on that quick and it's NEVER lasted this long or intensely. I swear I'm not being dramatic or whiney. I'm a little worried and not sure what to do. Plus I'm upset because it's now keeping me from working out anything besides my upper body which I can't do every day so I go to the gym and just sit somedays so I don't get out of the habit of going. If I'm being honest I'm really pissed at the negligence but I can't do anything about that and want to let it go so how do I make my legs feel better so I can start working out again??? Sorry about the long rant to anyone who actually made it through. (My own solution thus far is to add genepro to everything and try harder to get more fluids in) my friend says he's going to give me something called map pills but I don't know if I cantake those. Protein Shakes

I bought GENEPRO unflavored Protein powder from Amazon. It changes the color, consistency, and taste of liquids very little, so you hardly know it's there. You only need to use 1 scoop for 30 g of protein. There are no fillers or Vitamins. I mix it with 1 cup of 1% milk or unsweetened almond milk, and 2 tsp of Jello sugar free dry pudding mix. My current favorite is banana cream, but I've also had chocolate and vanilla. They are all great. I also mix the Genepro with homemade chicken broth, which is amazing because it just tastes like homemade chicken broth.
  23. Nice post. Look forward to other replies! I don't normally watch carbs. Protein, as most of us, is my focus. Since I focus on protein, the carbs are naturally low. Also, low calories tend to be low carbs for me at the moment. In the morning, I like having miso soup with vegetables and silken tofu in it. Sometimes watered down congee with a soft egg & sesame oil. The soup gives me a jumpstart on getting some liquids in. For lunch/dinner, one of my favorite meals is 50g baked salmon (or soft fish) with soy sauce/lemon/wasabi and/or other spices. If I have room, a couple of bites of veggies. For snacks, my current favorite is a grapefruit juice popsicle that I make with my favorite grapefruit juice. I also like semi-frozen unsweetened granny smith applesauce or some other pureed fruit like mango. For drinks, I like adding True lemon, orange, grapefruit or lime to my ice water. For protein shakes, I like 1 cup of skim milk, 1/2 frozen banana, 1 to 2T PB2 powder and a scoop of Genepro.
