Congratulations! I too am a SERIOUS slob. Most of my friends describe me as "a spilly one." That's gotta feel great to have your first NSV. I haven't even had a SV yet but hopefully I'll be hot on your tracks! Congrats! Suzanne

Congratulations on your NSV! I too know how good this accomplishment feels. I am also a fellow slob when it comes to eating. My husband can't help but smile everytime I spill something because he know it's only a matter of time. I'm a sucker for the dipping sauces:)

How many years have I wanted to drop food on myself and have it actually land on something other than my boobs!?! I was just eating some roast beef and applesauce for lunch. I looked down with disgust when I noticed that I had been a slob and dripped it down my front. Then it hit me! It went all the way down my front! LOL How crazy is this? I'm excited that I'm a slob that can actually get the food all the way down my shirt instead of just on my boobs. w00t! Next goal? Nothin' but lap baby! *looks down* Hm.. I know there's one down there somewhere.

Thanks everyone! I knew you'd understand. And yup, Ddiedre, I am thrilled that my girls are shrinking! Maybe all of the reductions pics I've been looking at online scared them into submission! hehe Chatterbutter - NSV means non scale victory. A benefit of your bandedness other than a scale reading. Neat huh? And this wasn't my first. They are coming so quickly now that I can't even remember my first. Here's a few more that happened over this last weekend: 1. I put my sunglasses on and they were so loose I thought they were broken. 2. I had to raise the seat in the car. Since my butt and legs are shrinking, I was "shorter" in the seat! 3. I can wraps my arms around my husband and link my fingers together - completely! 4. I have gone from a size 26 pants to a 20 in jeans, and 18/20s in what I call soft pants - elastic waist, soft t-shirt type material. Um, yeah, I bought these 18/20s last week or the week before, and they are literally falling off of me! Woohoo! Diane - you are extraordinarily, hugely wonderful and I love ya! *hugs* All the rest of you slobs - Here's to food stains on our pants and not on our shirts! LOL

snowblue replied to LipstickLady's topic in Rants & Raves
My surgery is in 2 days, but I have already had a NSV moment-- my scrubs used to be tight (like the seam ripped in the shirts tight...) well yesterday I had a liter of Fiji Water and needed the hand I was holding it with, so I stuck it in my front pocket... it fit with room to spare! What!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! -

5.5 Months Out, 61 Pounds Down, Sz 26- 14 And Feel Fatter Than Ever
Ms skinniness replied to slimshadee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep, this is a problem for all of us. It is quite an adjustment to make. But your not done yet losing weight, your body is constantly redistributing the fat.... Take a deep breath when this happens and remind yourself how far you have come. You will have excess skin when you reach your goal, but it will look better and feel better than all that fat that use to be there. you have more energy and can do more things. You have many more NSV'S coming your way..... Sit back, smile, and enjoy the journey, you Rock! -
Hey, My son goes to a local boxing gym, he is nearly 11 and really enjoying it... doing really well and thinking about fighting. The training has really changed his lil body and he is soooo lean and trim and very strong considering he is so young and fairly small. I found out they did ladies sessions... at first I was worried that I was too fat and that the ladies that went were all Amazion -types...lol Anyway about 6-7 weeks ago I persuaded a friend to come with me and to my surprise the ladies there were all shapes! There aren't that many of us in a session, but I like that. I have worked up to twice a week now and the best NSV for me is to be able to go, train like a demon and not ache like hell the next day. We do the same work out as the fellas, no slacking and plenty of sweat! The coach is the Welsh coach and he is amazing... I modify the stuff I can't do but still work the same muscle groups and get the same benefits. I really look forward to it now!!

Side sleepers/body pillow
joatsaint replied to Lindsey Skinner Abbott's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a lifelong side sleeper and for 3 weeks or so after, I could not comfortably sleep on either side. I'd feel an uncomfortable "pulling" sensation in my stomach. My solution was to sleep propped up, on my back, like in a hospital bed. I rolled up a comforter like a log and put it against my headboard. That provided enough of an angle for me to sleep comfortably. Sometime during that 3rd week, the pulling sensation went away and I resumed sleeping on my side. Now the only problem I have side-sleeping is having to keep some comforter between my knees - I lost all the fat in my legs and know my knees hurt when they touch. I rank that as one of my top 10 NSV's!!!! So you get to look forward to THAT! -
LapBand acronyms (WLS/PB/NVS)
pink dahlia replied to SolracSpree's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
NSV= Non Scale Victory, like when pants that didn't fit 2 weeks ago suddenly fit, or being able to climb stairs that you couldn't climb before, basically anything that is a success towards a healthy fit body, NOT just a # moving down on the scale. PB = Productive Burping, sometimes needed when food gets a little stuck, and a good burp clears it out. Hope this clears up the confusion, whats your best NSV so far, or what do you hope for one to be ? My 1st one was when I was 2 months banded, I ran into an old acquaintance who said "Have you lost weight ? You look thinner in the face !" ( I was down 17 lbs then ) Oh boy ! that made my day !!!! Good luck ! -

I believe you mean NSV which means Non Scale Victory. Example: Scale has not moved in weeks but my pants feel so much looser. -
Need advice for sugar addiction
newat52 replied to acampbell1318's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I gave up all processed sugar and flour on my pre op diet and now that I am almost 5 months out and can eat anything. I still have not had one single bite of a cracker, bread, chip or anything with processed sugar or flour. It is my slippery slope. I made myself a promise not to consume anything of the like until year's end. I think I need that time for me to adapt to my new me. I don't miss it right now and am ok but yesterday, I almost buckled and gave in as to not hurt someone's feelings. I have a group of friends and we meet for lunch once a month. We Celebrate birthdays, usually with just a card and small gift. My birthday is next week so we were celebrating mine. One of the ladies brought me a fancy cupcake with candles on it. I just cringed inside but thanked her. None of them know about my surgery but they do know that I have changed my diet. She was already annoyed with me because she had chosen the restaurant I commented that I was looking for a Pasta free dish and she asked why? I simply told her that I was not consuming any processed flour or sugar for the remainder of the year. She made a little comment about how it wouldn't hurt. I just said thanks but there is a great looking Cobb salad and changed the subject. About 5 minutes later it hit her that I may not eat the cupcake. She asked loudly so are you NOT going to eat that cupcake then? It got everyone's attention so now, all eyes were on me. I had to decide at that moment which was more important to me. My promise to myself or cave in and let someone pressure me? I decided in that moment that I was more important and worth keeping my promise to myself and just said, No, since I have made the commitment to not consume processed sugar this year, I would love to share it with you all or I can take it home and freeze it, it was so sweet of you to think of me though. She snapped at me and said, "well, I think you should eat anything you want, just eat less and you'll be fine." That pissed me off so I told her, "thank you, but I AM eating anything I want, however, I am also NOT eating what I don't want and I am very happy with my decision." That shut her up. A few minutes later I think she realized she was out of line and said, "you know, you should do what's right for you and I didn't mean to sound like I was telling you what to do." This is the place my mouth usually will get me in trouble but I just smiled and said, "thank you for saying that and I am doing what is right for me." I felt like It was a big victory for me, in realizing that I am worth following through with me! So, does this qualify as NSV?? -
