    1st Surgeon Appointment Today <insert internal scream>

Great!!! Love the surgeon. He's really straight forward, informative and a smidge goofy. Excellent combo. Until my new insurance cards get here in a few weeks, they can't check the policy for the detailed requirements. As far as what's next...all I need to do is an in-office psych eval (no matter if insurance requires it or not), EGD, cardiac stress test, and possibly just one more nutrition visit (depending on insurance requirement) that they already scheduled for 01/14/19. New insurance and FSA account will be in effect 01/01/19 sooooo...anyone have a time machine so I can fast forward this torturous waiting game?! LOLOL
  2. Challenge Starting weight: My current weight is unknown I last weighted myself a week ago. I was becoming obsessed with the scale so I had to take it to the basement behind the furnace. I feel so free! I'll weigh myself the morning of my next MD appointment. December 27th Current weight lost: 23lbs Losing or maintaining weight: losing Fitness/exercise goal: I bought this awesome desk elliptical thingy called Cubii jr. I love it! I use it at my desk all day. I'm gonna have legs like Tina Turner! I also do upper body weight training with resistance bands. Total weight loss at the end of challenge: (Post January 1st 2019) Check in: Tell us how you are doing - (How is your diet and exercise plan going? Any struggles? Stress level? What have you overcome? Any strategies that have helped) Right now I'm still pre op. I've been approved and I'm awaiting surgery January 15. I'm really good at losing a lot of weight because I practice IF. Problem is I don't stick with it. Knowing I'm going to have surgery has made sticking to a good diet really easy. I put myself on a kinda Optifast diet. Lots of clean protein shakes and 1 meal. I consume about 800 calories a day, very little carbs. My goal is to be 245 on my day of surgery!

    September bypass buddies??

Today, only 10 weeks post op I have hit the 1/2 way mark to my goal. 20 kg down, 20 to go. I'm really hoping to have it gone by April 2019 as I'm going to meet my sister in Morocco and I'd like to be able to do everything we want to do. Bypass has been one of the best decisions I've made.
  4. Looking for other February sleevers! I just got my surgery date last week. I finish my 6 month presurgery program in January and my surgery date is February 7th. So excited and nervous.

    OCTOBER SLEEVERS CHECK IN HERE

I was sleeved 10/30/17 and I’ve lost 136 pounds. This week I had a full knee replacement and I’m really happy to get to this point. I’m 60lbs from my goal weight. With my new knee I’ll be able to workout more. But life is better, and I’m glad I had the weight loss surgery.

    Protien and Broth!

I was just sleeved 6 days ago, and found a chicken broth with 9 grams of protein. I add a tspoon of better than boullion which makes it a total of 10 grams of protein for 8 oz. Trader Joe’s bone broth also has good protein (10 grams for 8 oz) in it. Good luck!

    December 2018 Sleevers!

Hey Irish- I was feeling exactly the same way and lost focus. I took a gulp of water and regretted it about 10 seconds later. Luckily i kept it down, but it was a painful reminder. But, i am happy that i am slowly learning the signs.

  14. For the first time since surgery, I was actually hungry yesterday...maybe stress or boredom hunger because I had eaten the most daily calories PO. I also had my first craving experience (wanted SkinnyPop sooo bad)... I had 10 pistachios (still on soft), drank some water and went to bed.
  15. Pre Opt Cheating 😞

I am on my pre-op diet and I have done some cheating. However, mines seem mild in comparison. Over the past 8 days, I have eaten some grapes (about 10), a serving of Snack Factory Pretzel Crisps (I checked the label and gave myself exactly 1 serving) I put half a banana in my Protein Smoothie. I wasn't sure if this is actually cheating or not because bananas weren't on my list of excluded or included fruits I can use for shakes and smoothies. I ate Taco Bell plain Refried Beans when I was out holiday shopping. Ate about 3 sporks of that. My big fail was Sunday. I made a salad for my husband's dinner. Just a plain old iceberg lettuce salad mix with tomatoes, cucumbers, a small amount of bacon bits, cheese, 1/4 a piece of baked crispy chicken, and (yes I counted) croutons with light vinaigrette dressing. Before I know I was huddled in the corner like Smeagal devouring about a cup of the salad! LOL my husband caught me and tried to take it away, but I would not let go of MY PRECIOUS! LOL

    Dec 2013 VSG'ers: 5 year update?

Congrats on five years out. You will work this back down. Don't let 20 pounds turn into 30, 40 or 50. Healthier you in 2019. I was sleeved in 2014. I had a sixteen pound gain my third year and worked it back down.

    1st Surgeon Appointment Today <insert internal scream>

Awww, thanks! Girl, it has been a long road on my own. That 55ish lbs has taken 2 years on a ketogenic/LCHF "diet". I've fallen off many times. Part of the struggle has been trying to heal my metabolism due to years of taking Adderall. It destroyed my ability to keep my weight under control after I stopped taking it. This fall, my company was bought out by one of our partners and our insurance benefits changed. For the first time in my adult life, I have a job that will pay for bariatric so I jumped on that boat with a quickness! LOLOLOL The policy won't change until 01/01/19 so I won't know the particulars of the plan for a couple weeks like how many required nutrition visits, etc...but I'm just happy to finally have some hope. No matter how long it takes 💓
  21. I had my VSG on Dec. 4, 2013. Ootpatient. Overall, I lost ~ 90 pounds, but alas, I have regained 20, and currently, am not still in "Onederland." I am not happy with that--as in bummed!!!. But this week, I am sticking to protein and working hard to avoid bad carbs. Pray for me, 'cuz I was really happy at the near 175 weight and a size 10 or so (down from a 22). I WILL get back to 180 or so. I WILL. How are the rest of my December 2013 sleevers doing? Share your stories and if any struggles. Share pics if you choose. Let's still be helpers one to another. And despite all--even if any slip-ups--congratulations on what I trust has been a slimmer, happier life, post-VSG five years ago this month.
  22. Thank goodness I found this group. Today will be 1 week post op for me. I also had a large hiatal hernia repair at the same tme. I was in the hospital 4 days. I've struggled with nausea. I'm proactive now and take my nausea meds regularly. Protein drinks never have bothered me but now the thought of them, yogurt, etc makes me nauseated. I have no issues with Protein 2.0 or jello and they are my go to for hydration and protein. Problem #1 Getting in more than 40 ounces of fluid a day has been nearly impossible so far. #2 Protein 2.0 only has 10 grams of protein. I am barely getting in 30 grams of protein a day. What risks does this run with low protein and what can I do to stay liquid without heavy sweet protein shakes? Today I am going to start walking so I am really needing to figure this out quickly. Thank you all so much. Nervous Newbie Sent from my SM-G920V using BariatricPal mobile app
  23. Help I am two years post op and just can't get my crap together. I don't over eat, however I haven't been making good food choices. I lost 123 lbs and have gained 30 lbs back. I am in a size 12 and honestly that is the size I wanted to be, considering I was a size 24 when i started. I got down to a 10 and now that I had a taste of it I want it so badly, but just cant seem to get back on track. I know these may seem like excuses, but life has thrown me some major punches this past year. My husband started a job that requires him to be gone most of the week and we have 13 children. I only have 11 home now but as you can imagine it is a busy job and I find very little time for myself. Any suggestions on how to get my crap together and get back on track? I have noticed since surgery, I have developed major anxiety and had many panic attacks. These are all new to me. Has anyone developed anxiety since surgery? If anyone has anything that has helped them get back on track please feel free to share>

    Weight I lost before surgery

March 2018 was my start to wanting to being more healthy and make that change, before I even considered veg. I’ve come a long way 10 months 245 to 210
  25. Hi all, Im 4 days post op (11/29/18). I had my first cry today. I need to take blood thinner injections 2x a day for the next 10 days. This mornings injection was particularly painful and set me off. However, my brother came home with pizza from our favorite spot. It smelled heavenly. But I had to remember that I worked this hard already and I came so far. Im excited for the new recipes I can try when I get to the soft food stage. Stay strong, this is a life changing event. 👍🏼
