Getting back to work and routine will be helpful.I wish I could have the feeling of not wanting to eat. I am not sure I will ever feel that! Suzzzie if I eat right and slow I am fine too, it is only when I eat to fast, dont' chew and eat things that I know will not go down is when I have issues. Unfortunetly I know the bad stuff I can eat, I am hoping to change that around now. Rennee, GREAT NSV! that is such a good feeling. I was depressed yesterday for the opposite effect. I can tell I cheated over the holidays, my clothes were not as loose as they were before my vacation! I really need to focus. Have a great day!
  2. Success in lapband

im 1 week out and eating!

Lets all Celebrate our successes And I definately think that eating only 1 piece of pizza verses the whole damn thing is a HUGE success! Congratulations on that NSV (and sharing it)! I also think that not gaining this week (but not losing either) is another huge success. I think these are successes BECAUSE it is in the direction of my goal, it may not be the bulls eye right this moment but it is FAR closer than it was 8-12 weeks ago. Some days the glass is 1/2 empty and some days the glass is 1/2 full. Seriously it REALLY depends on how satiated (hungry) I am at that moment. Life is always so much sweeter when I am not hungry and when I am hungry the sweetest smelling rose stinks! Lighten up on yourselves, slow and easy. WOW!!!!! Obviously some of us is experiencing alot of hunger right now.

    Another NSV...

I was able to wrap a normal sized towel around my body after my shower today!!!! Not a bathsheet...a NORMAL sized towel.. Woo freaking hoo!!!! Oh...and I jumped on my kids' trampoline for 15 minutes today...I can do that because I am within the weight limit.... May you all experience a great NSV today!!! Rain

    Marchies in the New Year

Sparkpeople looks way cooler than fitday, just registered, thanks for the info! NSV!!!! DH & I took the kids sledding yesterday. BIG hill. Last year at this time I would have been huffing and puffing and would have had to stop quite a few times climbing back up. Last year I would have said, "you kids go back down, mommy is resting" No, Not me! It was a fun challenge, I never stopped, not once. I really enjoyed myself and I was proud of myself for keeping up

    Nsv!!!! I Did It!!!!

Way to go girl! I started out exercising really good, but since the holidays I just haven't been motivated. I've got to get back on track. I even got an elliptical after Thanksgiving, I think I've used it about 5 times . Great NSV! Keep up the great work!
  6. Judy? Haydee? Hi violets!! It is so nice for everything to be back to normal again. All unpacked & things are put away. Holidays are over...life does not get any better. I have a pic I want to post...maybe I will do it this weekend. About 6 months ago (around there) dh and I went to an Astros ballgame and they gave away t-shirts that day (Jeff Bagwell for those who know who he is) anyway, theyonly handed out XL and when I got home I put it on and it was so tight I felt like I was wearing a condom (or at least I guess that is wht it would feel ike since I AM a female, lol). Back then, I asked dh to take my pic with it on. The other day I put it on and was sure it was probably still snug...not at all. It fit perfectly. So, now I will take an after with it on and show you all. HUGE NSV for me. Everyone have a great evening!

Happy New Year Everyone!! And what a great start for the Junebies!!!! Mary --CONGRATS!! on reaching your goal. Barb4 --let us know how this new fill does for you. Hopefully you will not have anymore problems since your polyps were removed. Barb12 --take it easy with the back. I hope you get to feeling better soon. Ouch!! I know that pain all to well. Julie --Congrats on all the success that you have had with your band thus far! You will reach your goal. Regina --so sorry to hear that you came back home with a cold. I hope that you feel better soon. I had another NSV yesterday. I jogged 1.5 miles on the treadmill without stopping. Granted, I am moving at turtle pace (4 MPH) but I was moving. My goal is to get up to 3 miles at this pace feeling comfortable and non-challenged then I will work on increasing the pace. Although I walk at 3.5 to 4 MPH when on the treadmill, this jogging thing felt like a much better workout (I measured by the amount of sweat). I think I should stick to treadmill workouts for awhile because my ankle did not bother me as much as when I am outdoors (which I love to be). I am still having some trouble with uneven grounds. That will just take some time. Happy New Year and Happy Loosing!! Melissa Lea

Ok. I lost a pound. I know that is not an NSV but here is the NSV part. I made it through Christmas AND new years without feeling "left out" and still managed to lose a pound last week!!! Now that IS an NSV!

Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

Ok, so it's been a very crazy couple of weeks, and it was fun to read everyone's updates from Christmas & New Years!! I do have a huge (for me anyway) NSV to announce. For Christmas, my hubby got me a Hawaiian dress. It's an XL (Not in plus) and I actually got into it and got it zipped. My stomach is still big and it's a little tight in that area, but I couldn't believe that I could actually get into it. I'm also down to 217 which is a total of 51 pounds. I'm so glad to see the scale moving again, and now know that I really need to kick the exercise into gear this month so that I don't put any back on or stop losing again. I turn 29 on the 25th of January, and I"m hoping to hit onderland before then, but the only way that's going to happen is if I exercise, so I really need to get motivated. I did 10 days for the December challenge and really want to make it for the January one. Well, I need to go get my Creative Memories inventory counted for end of year but I'll be back on later. ~Nichole

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Hello gals well I just wanted to post before I went to bed. I feel like I've missed a few things here but...for the most part it sounds like everyone had a great new year... I've had some p ersonals I wanted to post but I lost it. As for me, had a great night and a small hangover today as well, I think still being drunk at 9am was almost worst. I only had 3 drinks all night. Bad bad bad - but got lots of complimets and had a great night. Here is a funny story - ok maybe not to everyone but I took it as a compliment and it was just so crazy I couldn't help but just laugh all night. So my man best friend and his wife had a party, and we soaked in the Hot tub at 2am, well we just relaxed, chatted, had a great night, then bf comes in the house and says that he is just going to lay the cards on the table and wanted to have a threesome. ok so not really my thing but... OMG my bf wanted me (i know sick but a compliiment and funny... ) needless to say he slept on the couch. we were so shocked - but he just kept on going, i told his wife this morning when i talked to her that I figured it was ok down there since I didn't hear any police cars or firetrucks. Ok that that is 1st story... next today was a great day, everything seems to be going great, and then I went to Wallyword and decided to get a pr of levi's signature jeans. Ok so they are a size 18 Misses so not happy about the 18 but they were misses and not plus 18 for starters. Second, I could have bought the 16's but you all saw the type of jeans I had before, so I didn't care - for $20 I want my first pr of girly jeans to fit and they are a tad big but I was much more comfortable in the 18's than th 16's. So I felt good about that. I have never ever fit into Misses jeans and liked them, let alone Mid rise boot cut jeans... Me... can you even imagine. I'll take it and I'm going to claim it as an NSV - i never loved jeans ever in my life and I really like these! I'll have to take a pic anyway, i hope you all have a great night I'm going to pass out... OH PAM... holy crap an $80 dinner.... I have said several times since thanksgiving.... Holiday's are not about food and eating... Ok so have not lost but seriously, have not gained and I am much happier than last jan 1! I love my band and my violets!
  12. Hey girls----Happy 2008 to you all! We had a blast! Saw lots of old friends, and danced the night away! Rick is sometimes a bit iffy about dancing, but he told me "I thought this is what you wanted to do" and we danced all night. Sometimes I forget how much I love snuggling close to him and looking into his eyes! I too had a bit too much to drink----enough that the bright white of the monitor kept me away from the computer all day!!! And my grandson come over today, and threw a wall eyed fit, and ended up making himself throw up----that almost had me joining him!!! Now I feel pretty good, but it is going to be an early night, we were up til early morning! All day long though, we look at each other and say what a good time we had! Sorry Denise and Laura--hate that you are sick!!! Sounds to me like a virus Denise...I have never heard of the band causing bowel issues once the liquid in - liquid out phase. Michelle you looked beautiful! Well you always do, but you glowed, as you should have with limo's and ball gowns!!! Me I wore jeans!!! Tight jeans! Jeans that felt like I looked good in them! And a silky black/white/gold print top, with a black lace border, and a deep V neck, and black boots. I have to say it was a night of NSV's. I saw people I hadn't seen in awhile, the compliments were ego boosting for sure! But the biggest thing I noticed, was dancing with Rick, he would rub his hand up my back, and I didn't flinch thinking he was feeling the fat rolls. Instead I felt sleek in the top! And he would wrap his arms around me for a kiss following the dance, and I felt like I fit in there---custom made---didn't feel like he was stretching to get his arms around me anymore. I was not worried about being the biggest woman there, I was not worried about people looking at me when we went out onto the dance floor! A few times we were even the first ones out there! My friends it was an eye opening, heart opening night. I celebrated my smaller fanny off!! 2 years ago, I could not ever conceive the thought of feeling normal, and sexy again in this manner. I love my Billy Bandass Band!!!!!!!!!! Pamela--glad your dinner ended up being worth it! I would have been shocked too! Sounds like you danced for your exercise yesterday too!!! I will be glad to do the daily tip---when it is my turn don't forget to remind me! LOL I agree, that they not only need to be about diet per se, but to be about bettering our lives, and our health. Isn't someone going to monitor our Water too??? I did lots of tea today--rehydrating!!! My first one reactivated my whiskey though!! Oh my......lol! Well I am off to a bubble bath once I check off my email. Will be back to see all of you in the morning! 2008--let's make it great!! Kat
  13. Hey Y'all. Happy New Year!! I had a very interesting experience over the weekend that is actually an NSV but I am surpprised about my feelings. Let me start with a little history. I have worn as large as a size 30/32 clothing but for the past several years, I had stabilized (for lack of a better word) @ 26/28. On surgery day (1/19/07) I was wearing 24 & 26's. Currently I am size 18 bottoms (with some slack now) and 18/20 and 1X (some 16) tops. I had noticed lately that the 1X tops are fitting a little slack so I decided to venture in to the land of the Misses Dept. I have NEVER been able to do this as i have been fat ALL my life even as a teenager. It felt so strange being there. I have never had a reason to even visit or walk through that part of the store; always been Woman's World for me. I went to return some 1X sweaters and tried on some XL and L sweaters in Misses Dept. I spent some extra time looking at myself in the dressing room mirror. I had on a sweat suit set because I had just left Curves and it was so baggy and I had no butt at all. Further, I could not believe it was me in that size L (even if it was a sweater) and even in a "strange" dressing room because I have Woman's World down pat as far as where things are located. It was a whole new world. It was so strange, yet exciting AND most surprisingly sad. I felt like on the one hand, I belonged or could actually see myself belonging in the land of the Misses. No one stared at me in disbelief or gave me the look like I was definitely in the wrong area. But then part of me felt like a traitor. Like I was leaving Woman's World (WW) and all my WW friends &b family behind. It's all I've ever known. I know I am still basically in (WW) but I can now tell the tides are shifting and I can see it as a possibility of being there permanently. Am I crazy for feeling this way??

Thank you Sandra.. I've talked with her a bit more about it...and told her once things calm down a bit we will re-evaluate the situation and go from there. I'm starting to feel better... meds are working... Husband is still getting on my nerves but at least now I can tolerate him! NSV!! NSV!! NSV!! This morning I got out of the shower...and could fit the entire shower towel (regular size) around me!!! I called my husband in to see... he didnt seem nearly as thrilled with it as I was.. oh well.... We're off to Dave and Busters with the kids... Everyone have a great Sunday!
  16. Good morning violets... I really don't have anything planned for New Years Eve. I have to work and dss and dsd are coming over today so they will be with us for the new year! First time they have slept at the new place and they are excited. Macy has been with my sister this weekend and she called me last night saying macy said her "cheek" hurts and was crying for me. Broke my heart! I think it is her ear. I am waiting for my sis to call me this morning to let me know how it went last night. Last time I talked to her she had given her some ibuprofin and ice cream and all was well. I hope it is not anything like an ear infection. The dr is probably closed until the 2nd. Went to wal-mart yesterday and got some 12/14 cotton pants (elastic waist) got home and put them on and was drowning in them. I know that cotton and elastic=bigger than normal but it was just the idea of exhanging an artical of clothing and getting a size with a single digit in it. I got 8/10 and they fit perfectly. Wow....the only single digit things I have ever worn is my rings and my shoes. Huge NSV for me! Back up to 184 today but that is not bad considering I ate WELL last night. DH and I went to a steakhouse and I had a ribeye, salad and some sweet potato. Laura-I love that VS top! Congrats on the new size! Maybe I will go look at the stuff on their website  Pamela-I like the bigger font you use, I can actually read it with no squinting! Suzie-that happened to me. I had an outfit in the closet (never worn) that I was dying to get into and I had to bring it to my mom the other day to take up because it is way too big now. Great feeling! Kat-sounds like a great NYE party you are going to. Can I go? :present: I bought an exercise ball yesterday (you know the big ones that you can sit on and lay on?) It comes with a DVD and I am going to start the new year out correctly and see if maybe these little fat wrinkles on my upper inner thighs will go away. I can tell I am just rambling now so I will go finish my coffee now and see what the TV says we have in store as far as weather is concerned. We have an auditor coming tomorrow to work to do year end inventory with us. Needless to say I plan on getting to work about 5:30 or 6 in the morning to get things as straight as possible before they arrive. Someone just shoot me now....

    Nsv!!!! I Did It!!!!

I have not exercised since being banded, and today I walked almost 2 miles. (pushing a double stroller). I have used the babies as an excuse, but no more. My DH and I loaded up and went to the track. He and my 9 year old road bikes while I pushed the babies in the stroller. It felt SO good to be outside and active. We plan to do this together as a family each evening when he gets home from work. We all had a great time!! :clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2:

    Steady losers ;-)

hey girls! Annie & Jill - welcome back! Annie how exciting! I have an appt on the 28th - I've decided if the insurance will pay to have the flap cut off I'm going for it. I guess its not as appealing as an actual tt - but I can't afford to pay for it my self so I'm praying the insurance will come through for me. My huge NSV - I went shopping yesterday with my Christmas cash and got 2 pairs of slacks and a skirt - all a size 10!!! woohoo! I tried the 12's first and I was swimming in them. But I think that Christopher and Banks sizes run a bit bigger - I don't care tho - I was just giddy over the 10's! I got alot of nice stuff and drasticly reduced prices. Everything was 75% off which was a blessing bc I was really debating on buying new stuff when I know I want to lose at least 20 more lbs. I also got 2 pairs of boots - one pair is just Columbia winter boots, cute but everyday type - then the other pair are tall knee high brown suede, I couldn't believe they zipped up over my calf. HAha - I got a new pair of black heels too. I was loving it - shopped til I was broke. Boo- cute dress! Did you win it? I'm so afraid of buying clothes on ebay bc of them not fitting. So the Cookies are going to college tomorrow. I'm actually done with them now. I ate so many I don't think I'll crave another cookie until next Christmas. Bman - dreams are crazy. I have some wild stupid dreams sometimes. I think the thing with you and the ex is that you were still crazy in love with him (from what I understand) when he left - that left you still holding on to what was. If you had had some horrible years or even months of fighting and turmoil in your marriage it probably would be easier to move on. You heart is still holding on to what once was. Love ya ladies. xoxoxo

    Discouraged

Please don't get discouraged. For many a big wieght loss will be followed by no loss or even a gain. The body is adjusting to the new food intake, new level of exercise....a lot of new stuff is happening in our bodies. And remember that if you're exercising consistently you're building muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat so while a weight loss may not show up on the scale your body is physically getting smaller. I've been banded for about 15 months and had many times where I haven't lost an ounce for several months....but then the weight loss will start up again. I still haven't figured out what triggers a plateau. So, keep doing what you're doing and be sure to count those NSVs (non-scale victories)!....Good luck on your journey

Sandra....you need to pay attention again, we do not want you sick like before!!! That nurse sounds like she had too much eggnog!!LOL Keep us posted. Also, thanks for the encouragement! I need to start back on the exercise....I have been a slacker! Aren't those larges without the X the best feeling!!! WE are all doing such a great job! Mini and Sue.....great NSV's! Mellisa....I hope you are feeling better today
  21. hey gang, Just thought I'd post that I've actually bought a few pieces of clothing in the regular section for the first time in years! They're a tad snug, but wearable in public, so I'm in em! I actually bought a bathing suit last night for my new gym membership. They didn't have any 18's so I thought what the heck - give it a try. Lo and behold, it fit! It's TIGHT, but it fits and it's kinda nice to have that belly sucked in a bit. I celebrated by a nice long spa soak after my workout last night. I don't think I'll be done shopping at Lame Giant just yet, but it won't be long!! It will feel like a real victory when I hit a size 14 (will be the first time in about 11 years). Meanwhile, I'm down from a 24 to a 16/18 on the bottom and a 14/16 on top. :whoo:

NSV....my MIL bought me a shirt for XMAS.....no X anything....just a Large. When I looked at it I thought it looked way to small for me but thought I would be able to wear it in a couple of months. I was very flattered that someone thinks I am not a XL anymore. Well went home tried it on and it fits perfect!!!! My MIL called the next day to see if we liked are gifts and to see if my shirt fit and its a blouse so no strechy stuff in it...no squeezing in it....if it doesnt fit....it doesnt fit!!! I told her yes and that I loved and she said....I thought it might be tooooo big for you I almost got you the Medium. Image that....a medium!!! That is the nicest thing she has ever said to me!!!!!! Barb465 that's great news that nothing serious was found. I hope that the removal of the polyps helps solve your problem. Hope you enjoy your curise and have a fantastic fill on the 31st. I have had a SV and a NSV the past week over Christmas. The Scale Victory is that I have not gained or lost an ounce. I staid exactly the same with all the Holiday eating and that was my goal. NSV is that I bought and wearing a regular size 14P jean. I wasn't going to buy them but my Aunt said I looked great and that I have to get use to not wearing clothes that have so much added material. I hope everyone is having a great holiday season thus far. Happy New Year. If I don't talk to you again before then, I catch you in the new year. Melissa
  24. Glad to hear your cardiology appointment went well. We have had lots of experience with them here lately, my DH had to have heart surgery to repair a valve. And I am taking my Dad to see his cardiologist tomorrow to schedule carotid artery surgery again. Hopefully then it will be over for awhile!!! It is more difficult than I expected to see yourself differently as the weight comes off. I remember when I realized how huge I had gotten! I caught sight of myself in a mirror in the mall! I was horrified--I did not realize it was me, I honestly thought the fat lady had a shirt like me and that alone embarassed me, imagine when I realized it WAS me! I had bought the bigger clothes, and lived with the fat on my body day in and day out, but still "saw" myself as normal. Til that fateful day in the mall. Now I find myself doing similar things in reverse. I see something clothing wise I like, and I still insist on trying on the 2X minimally. I still feel like people see me as fat. I do things that shock myself! Today I was spraying down the stove top, and was afraid I would ruin my shirt, so I grabbed an old apron of my Moms----and for years the only way I could ever tie it was behind me. Today for some reason I flashed back to my highschool retail days, and wrapped the ties around and tied them in the front. When I realized I could do that it almost reduced me to tears!!! When I took it off, I retied it, and looked at it---it was a wonderful NSV..... Next time you are in the store, walk over to the potatoes, or the dog food and pick up a 20 pound bag....and just think you have already lost that---and look at the 50 pound bag, and tell it you will be back!!! Well, I am off to bed, the trip to take Dad to the Dr. will be an all day adventure in snow packed roads! Kat

I am afraid to get on the scale.....lots of junk over Christmas! What a slippery slope, one bad choice leads to another! Today....I will stay on plan! I did get lots of compliments from family members who have not seen me since the summer. My MIL on the other hand only said "that outfit is slimming"......not the fact that I have lost 61 lbs!!!! If I could have bought an outfit that would make me look 60 lbs thinner...I would have! She will just not give a good compliment, usually back handed ones! Oh well its her issue, not mine! NSV....new clothes for Christmas without an X anywhere. I still look at them and think....thats not going to fit and then I am shocked when it does. It actually brought tears to my eyes! Happy New Year everybody.....one more eating fest to get through! Good Luck!
