  1. Let's have our very own Non-scale Victories thread! My first one: I can do up the seat belts on the bus into work in the morning!! I work on a mine site and we get bussed from camp to site, and HAVE to wear seat belts (safety regs). The driver comes by to check before taking off and up till now, I've had to hide the fact that I couldn't quite click the buckle in. It's always been so embarrassing having anyone see me struggle and then have to hide my failure from the bus driver. This week, it was tight, but it did up every time!! YAY!

OMG! I just ate 1/2 of a Lean Cuisine! I could have eaten 2 of them before this band. I am totally shocked. Also, just bought spandex shorts to wear under my bathing suit for my Water aerobics, and they're XL. I was looking for 2X, they didn't have any, so I risked the XL thinking I could take them back if they were just way too tight. THEY'RE LOOSE! OMG! (I guess I could technically have 3 NSV's since I'm starting water aerobics tonight. Wouldn't have done that before the band....). Let's keep going! This feels so good. I always thought the WW saying of "this ______ feels better than food tastes" was a little corny.....but......well, it's still corny, but it's feeling more true now!
  3. Congratulations on your nsv! What a wonderful feeling it must be!

Jacole - oh your post brought back a flood of memories. I cannot wait to see your after pic! Congratulations on getting your band next month. I hope the insurance doesn't give you any hard times and it goes smoothly. I remember looking at all the before/after pics before my surgery, and I would always ask myself, "will I ever be able to post pics on here", It was such a good feeling when I finally posted my 6 & 9 months comparrison shots. It was a NSV for me. Again, I am looking forward to seeing your progress!

Hello to all! I feel that I have been off the site for two long and this is part of success for me! Suzzie Great on the jeans. Wearing jeans and feeling good about them is so cool! Karla your NSV story with your sister was funny! I have two sisters and can relate 100% ladyhr WELCOME TO ONDERLAND!!!! Rhonda I can understand your frustration. I have been in tears all night, and maybe this is because I am going to face the music at the doctors today! I will have lost "0" weight since my last visit! But I have restriction and know that I don't need a fill. What I do need is to make the RIGHT CHOICES AND EXERCISE!! I am beginning to feel like a failure like I have felt in diets past. I feel that I am at a point that I am not on the "program". My husband told me the other day, you spent a lot of money on your "LB" get to the gym! Nice guy. I know he is trying to motivate me but that just pissed me off! He is right of course. You all tell me, I don't think I need a fill, for I have restriction with foods. some days I can hardly eat a thing, but I can still over eat the 4-6 oz, which I am never certain of the portion size I am supposed to eat when it is soup or salad? what do you think? I am sorry for wining! I just feel crappy today. Maybe the doctor visit will give me some motivation, I am hoping. I am having dinner with another LB friend that I met on the site. We both have the same doctor, so I am looking forward to that. maybe we can both provide inspiration.

No you are not a thread killer. I totally can relate. I have done well, but I am hunger most of the day depending on what time of the month it is. Today I was starving - is was 2:30 and I hadn't had lunch. I was out so I pulled in to McDonalds - I ordered a chicken nugget kids meal and forgot to ask for apples instead of fries. So of course instead of not eating them, I shoved 2 in my mouth immediately. I got through about 1/2 a nugget and thought I was going to have to pull over and PB. I managed to hold it down, was in pain and STILL hungry. I had a NSV today, but also a very sad realization. I needed new pants because I am walking around holding mine up all the time like those kids that walk around with their pants hanging and their hands on their crotch! I went to Dress Barn and picked up a 20W - but was surprised to find I really needed an 18W (I started at a tight 32W). That of course is wonderful, until I looked at my legs in the full length mirror - YUCK! Unless I can afford a thigh lift, I will never be able to wear a swimsuit or shorts above the knee again. Maybe if I could get my butt in gear and exercise, I could make some improvement, but that is so hard for me! I hope everyone can get back on track in the new year. It is a daily battle for me to make good choices and I often don't, Thank goodness I can't overeat anything! Well I can eat chocolate pudding with brownies I found out - but I am not a sweets eater and only want chocolate about once a month.

Yay Regina! Quitting smoking is HUGE! I know from personal experience how tough it is to quit and I am so proud of you. The good thing about the weight loss is, you know exactly what you aren't doing. Just start tackling those things on your list one at a time. Get all your water in tomorrow or take a vitamin or something and get back in the swing of it. It is hard to remember everything we need to do every day! Melissa- 2 miles running is AWESOME!! My cousin and I are actually planning to do a run in June and my first day is Wednesday to start training. I told her I would decide by the end of the month if I am actually going to go through with the run! Barb-I'm happy you are doing well on solids. Be careful with those fills-don't be too aggressive! But hopefully having those polyps removed will help you tolerate more fill. You got 50 pounds off, I know you can get 50 more!! A sort of NSV today-I gave blood! The last few times I've tried, my iron was low. I've been taking liquid iron, but it wasn't helping, so I changed brands and I was fine today. I'm in the 5 gallon club at my local blood bank and I want to get to 10!

NSV stands for Non Scale Victory. Sometimes we go down in a size or someone tells us that we look great. Those are non scale victories.

How is weight loss for people over 50?

Marlena - CONGRATS on Onderland :clap2: Real Chocolate Candy - I just don't do it - I don't start - Not one piece of See's passed my lips over the holidays - did allow myself xmas cookes that I made with Grandaughters & tamales that I made with DIL - but that was it... I find that i can satisfy my craving for choc with my double choc sf puddings & healthy choice fudgecicles which are sf and have only 80 calories... Michelle - I had cookies that were to deliver to a freind - but never made it to their house - I had finished my allotment - I took those that were left and threw in the trash - they were covered in plastic on a paper plate - then I realize that due to the fact that they were covered I could go back - so i took them out and crumbled them up so i couldn't go back.. I bet there isn't a fat person who hasn't done this you are normal - well at least you and I are NMSunshine I want to you to THROW THOSE DARN CANDIES AWAY NOW.... You can do it - walk over to the trash throw them in and pour something over them... Do it now - Do not let stupid choc win over you - they are the devil... They are doing nothing but hurting you..... Throw them away NOW..... Better in thee than in me..... Your new mantra... xoxox Janet P.S. - My NSV for not eating candy - I have a size 12 pair of pants on....

Hi guys I hope you don't mind if I jump in and share a couple of NSVs . I have ben reading all of your and I am so inspired by you all. When I started my jourmey I wore a size 18W jeans I was on meds for blood prssure and arthritis in my back. I no longer need either of these meds and I feel so good now. As far as the clothing sizes go I am just dumbfounded. My daughter(size 11) was mistakenly given a size 17 jean for Christmas. She brought them into my room and said I could have them since they were way too big for her. I tried them on just for kicks since they are juniors and designer and knock me down they fit!!!!! I have not had on juniors jeans in years!!! I am still a long way from goal but boy did this make every moment of this journey worth it . Keep up the good work and thank you for letting me brag a little it feels so good! Take care

Cag, Isn't it great! Just love clothes NSV moments. I can't wait until I can shop in Wal-mart for clothes. I haven't been able to do that in years. I am probably at that point now but I am holding off as long as I can because I want to reach 100lbs. before May! Then it is a whole new summer wardrobe Baby! Although, I am starting Water aerobics at the "Y" and I need a bathing suit that fits. The one I got is way to big now. I guess I will have suck it up! What a boring weekend without football for my Pats. I am sure you felt the same with no Cowboys. Not sure that I like my game next week with the JAGS even though I am confident that we will probably beat them, I just wish we were facing a team that is less explosive. However, you got beat the best to be the best. So I am sure that we will beat the JAGS; it will make for a very interesting game. I think I will have be a football party Saturday night. They had better win because it is my birthday and I am turning 40. That would be the best birthday present this year! Keep up the great work and I want to see the ticker symbol go down; it hasn't changed in a while. Cindy

Everybody is doing so great. I love hearing all the NSVs. Even if I've read them once, I'll generally read through again from my last post before posting again. It's so encouraging. I noticed today that my work coat is swimming on me. It's an XL. It was tight when I first ordered it and DH was actually trying to get me to take a XXL. But it was right before my LapBand surgery and I knew it wouldn't last me too long. I'm so excited. I told him to grab a M when he's at the office next so I can hang onto it when I get into M!

  18. So I had to go buy some new bras today . . . it was getting pretty sad trying to make the old ones make due . . . but . . . the surprise came 1) that I could get some in a store instead of special ordering them, and 2) that I went from a 54C to a 48DD . . . OMG where the hell did THAT come from! LOL . . . So Lane Bryant has "buy 2 and get 2 free", so I bought 2 I can wear now - and two in a smaller size . . . I'm planning ahead! lol And then . . .on the way out of the mall . . .I bought 2 rings with opals (my birthstone) and tanzanite (from the S. Africa mine - not Iraq/Iran) . . . and my pinky fingers are happy . . . until I lose more weight and start moving the rings to other fingers and YEA Chargers (for those of you who follow football!) My NSV's... 1. I can sit in a normal chair with out feeling squeezed in. 2. I have dropped almost 3 sizes. 3. I can buy clothes because I like them, not because they are all that fits. 4. I don't crave diet coke anymore. 13. I want to go out and about with my family. I could go on and on. This is the best decision I have ever made.

I'm getting banded tomorrow and it's my fear that I'll lose what little boobs that I have! ha. Oh well...the "chicken cutlets" are already my best friend...maybe I'll just double up on them. heehee. All of you are doing great!! Keep up the good work! I look forward to sharing my NSV soon.

Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

Thanks, I needed a little support. Yesterday i just felt ugh, for lack of a better word. I really do think that most of it has to do with the fact that I have to go back to work tomorrow. As for eating out, we go out a lot. My BF and I just share a meal and I never eat very much because I can't account for all of the calories. He does most of the cooking and most of the time he will fix things that work for me. It is just the last couple of days that he has done nothing but gorge himself and it is probably due to the fact that he is very very sick. He seems to be back to normal this morning. But Janet you are right, I know the struggles that I am going through because of my unhealthy eating habits and it frustrates me when other people just sit there and stuff an entire medium pizza down their throat. It will be better after I get through the first day back to school. Also, I am not craving anything specific, especially ice cream. I love ice cream but ever since surgery I can't eat it. If I do I have a lactose intolerant reaction to it. I can't drink milk either. cheese, cottage cheese, and yogurt are alright, but milk and ice cream are a NO NO for me. It is more that I just want to get to a point that I dont have to over analyze every single thing that goes in my mouth. And actually it does get easier. I was on Atkins for 2 years and I guess it did start getting easier for me. I am sure this will too. As for my body type I have 2 VERY distinct rolls with my belly button tucked neatly between them. I would really like to lose that damn top roll. All of the shirts just seem to cling to that one roll. So I can't wear my pants at my waist because otherwise my top roll sticks out like a sore thumb. So I have to find high waisted pants that will help mold the two rolls into one! Camp shirts are my favorite too, but again mine are all too big. I really don't have many clothes left that I can wear and I can't really afford to go buy new clothes right now. I need to go get a presser foot for my sewing machine and see if I can attempt to tailor my old clothes. I usually go through my clothes on Sunday's because I try to lay out my clothes for the week. I am too tired to make decisions at 4:45 am. And you are right about the thin material that just shows off everything. I really need clothes with structure. My back fat has almost gone away I have a few little bumps around my bra line, but most of my weight is front and center. My skin is starting to take a hit too. Yikes! My belly looks like my grandma's belly did when she was 95! I have read and heard that it can take up to a year for the skin to catch up, so there is hope. There is no way that I can afford to have plastic surgery nor do I really want it. As long as I can find clothes that make me look alright I will be fine. Here is a funny NSV. I told my BF to sit on my computer chair last night because I thought there was something wrong. I thought there was a lump because my butt hurt when I sat on it. He said, no there is nothing wrong with the chair, and I realized that it was that I had lost so much fat off my butt that I was sitting on my tailbone. I didn't even think I had that much fat on my butt, but I had to fold up a blanket on my chair because it was painful! Well I have to finish getting lessons ready for tomorrow so I will talk to you all later.
