My NSV's are: I am finally wearing a smaller size in clothes. My face is thinning out. I am starting to enjoy looking at myself in the mirror again. When I look down I can actually see my feet again. ( I need a pedicure!) My 42DDD are now a 40DD (Don't want to lose to much of these) Every time I see people I know they all comment on how "skinny" I am getting (LOVE IT) I am starting to feel like a WOMAN again. I can't wait for more!

Anita! Congrats on those smaller clothes! I love it! I had to buy a 4xl scrub pants to replace my 5 xl's and my daughter was folding the laundry the other day and she came running in the bedroom, "Moma (that's what she calls me) you're wearing a smaller size?" She was beaming! What a great NSV -- having your child beam with pride! Damn, I love that girl!! Heather is right, Lane Bryants does run small. I think, anyway. I also have much smaller clothes calling my name. I have a smaller pair of jeans that I bought when I first planned my surgery. I have them hanging in the front of the closet where I see them everyday. Also a tinier Babydoll blouse! I can't wait to wear them! Yeah!!! Heather, I hope your doggie is there! I still feel so bad about not getting our "Barry" -- he was such a dollbaby and he would have added so much joy to our lives. I pray that he went to a good home. If your husband divorces you because of the doggie, just get in your car and drive west and then south! I'll be waiting! Just think you can get your fills from Dr. K! Mal, Great story! have you heard of suspenders? I had to buy some for my scrubs before I finally got a smaller size. I had a hard time finding a pair. I would ask the very young clerk @ Target or Wal-mart and they looked at me like I had two heads! Yes, my head is freakishly large and the size of two normally sized heads, BUT suspenders are not that odd of a clothing item! Did you know that the human head (normal size, not mine) weighs about 8 lbs? I've lost just over one human head. How many human heads have you lost? (frequently at work, I lose my own!) Can't wait to see all of your pretty pretty faces tonight!!! Hugs, dee~ Oh! I forgot, my goal Mal is to do the Susan G Koman walk this year! We should have a Lap Band group do it together. I'll be walking in honor of my Grandma Juanita. She died when she was 61 y/o of Breast CA with Met. I was a freshman in HS. She was the sweetest Grandma, the type who'd get on the floor with the kids and play games. Anita, she loved Christmas music (and Josh is always acceptable! -- I got that one for my daugther in her stocking) and listened to it year round -- she also had a Christmas tree in every room! Don't you love those kinds of Grandmas? -
:angryI am getting so frustrated, banded 11/15/2007, 1st fill 1/26/2007 3cc in a VG band which holds 14cc. The scale has not moved in over 5 weeks. I am eating protien first, never eating and drinking together. I started working out this week everyday a minimum of 30 minutes. I definately see NSV as the inches are coming off but would like to know if any of you have experienced this and when does it surpass? Next fill is scheduled 1/22/2008

Someone on here asked about life insurance. I have seen a couple of post here and on other sites about this question. I have heard that some people have been able to get a price break because they have lost so much weight and their blood levels and other things were back to normal. So we all have something to look forward to. Also keep your current insurance and doo not drop it until you have the documents in hand. I have heard people dropping one and then not getting approved. Just something to keep in mind. I guess you can say for some people that this is a NSV. Chris

Woofay- You rock woman!! Congrats on the NSV! And just FYI, I don't think their stuff runs that big, so take the compliment! :biggrin1: I just bought my first pair of jeans in 10 years from AE Outfitters ...they won't fit me yet but I'm going to hang them right on my closet door to remind me that I need to get my butt in gear when I get my cast off next week! Motivation clothing!!!! They are super cute wide leg jeans. I can't wait to get my cast off so I can work out instead of sitting on the computer and shopping!! Hee hee! Oh, and by the way...across the river is only about 10 to 15 minutes away, so I really don't have any excuse for not going to a gym in Iowa other than the bridge rush hour traffic (which I could easily avoid). I'm really just a slacker! Dee- They still have the picture of my little puppy on the humane society website...I'm going to take my chances and drive over there tomorrow on the off chance that the guy that answered the phone didn't know what he was talking about. They have another Jack Russel also, but he's not as cute... My husband doesn't know about this yet so I may be headed for divorce (which might be ok at this point as I am not too happy with him lately...) Wish me luck with my puppy endeavor!! -
I LOVE this topic! 1. I can walk the stairs at my office and not have to stop (6 flights). 6 months ago, I was wheezing. 2. I love to work out and I feel so good. 3. People are starting to notice and random people are telling me how good I look. 4. My skin is better than ever, it has cleared up and I look younger! 5. I have 2 bags of fat clothes that I will NEVER wear again. 6. The BEST NSV is that I am finally starting to feel like ME again!!

This is my main exercise goal for the year. I MUST do this! No failing allowed. :biggrin1: -
Is it worth it? Newcomer trying to decide, please help
steph_co replied to dglaeser's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am an emotional eater, as well. The only reason I say that in the present tense is because that is the first thing I want to do when I'm feeling stressed out. My social worker at the surgeon's office recommended that I find new coping mechanisms ahead of time so that when those moments come up I can so something constructive. I came up with a list of things I can do instead and it has helped me. The one time that the urge was too strong to resist, I just found some low calorie Snacks to eat instead. I measured it out and that's all I ate and that was that. It's not the easiest thing I've ever done, but has it been worth it? Boy, has it ever. I'm down 33 lbs and physically feel so incredibly much better than I did before. Each day I find a new reason to love this band. New NSVs (non-scale victories) everyday. I LOVE it. And with each lb that comes off, I am overjoyed because I know it's gone for good. It takes work because I don't have good restriction, yet. I've only had one fill and I am RAVENOUS a lot of the time because I'm restricting my calories on my own. But I just find other things to occupy my time. This forum helps out a lot. Since I'm obsessing about getting down to a healthier size, it helps to be around like-minded people. LOL -
Hey All.....I had an NSV. I tried on a size 12 pants and they fit!! Not sure if I would wear them out of the house yet but they are on and zipped!!!! Scale is not moving much but I have been doing better on the exercise....thanks to Sandra for kicking our butts in gear!! I had a bad stuck experience yesterday, going to the docs in a couple of weeks, not sure about another fill after yesterday!!! I guess you are supposed to chew your food and not inhale it like the old days!!!! How do I forget like that????? Wenjea....good to hear from you again! Maureen

Let's have our very own Non-scale Victories thread! My first one: I can do up the seat belts on the bus into work in the morning!! I work on a mine site and we get bussed from camp to site, and HAVE to wear seat belts (safety regs). The driver comes by to check before taking off and up till now, I've had to hide the fact that I couldn't quite click the buckle in. It's always been so embarrassing having anyone see me struggle and then have to hide my failure from the bus driver. This week, it was tight, but it did up every time!! YAY!

OMG! I just ate 1/2 of a Lean Cuisine! I could have eaten 2 of them before this band. I am totally shocked. Also, just bought spandex shorts to wear under my bathing suit for my Water aerobics, and they're XL. I was looking for 2X, they didn't have any, so I risked the XL thinking I could take them back if they were just way too tight. THEY'RE LOOSE! OMG! (I guess I could technically have 3 NSV's since I'm starting water aerobics tonight. Wouldn't have done that before the band....). Let's keep going! This feels so good. I always thought the WW saying of "this ______ feels better than food tastes" was a little corny.....but......well, it's still corny, but it's feeling more true now!

Congratulations on your nsv! What a wonderful feeling it must be! -
Jacole - oh your post brought back a flood of memories. I cannot wait to see your after pic! Congratulations on getting your band next month. I hope the insurance doesn't give you any hard times and it goes smoothly. I remember looking at all the before/after pics before my surgery, and I would always ask myself, "will I ever be able to post pics on here", It was such a good feeling when I finally posted my 6 & 9 months comparrison shots. It was a NSV for me. Again, I am looking forward to seeing your progress!

Hello to all! I feel that I have been off the site for two long and this is part of success for me! Suzzie Great on the jeans. Wearing jeans and feeling good about them is so cool! Karla your NSV story with your sister was funny! I have two sisters and can relate 100% ladyhr WELCOME TO ONDERLAND!!!! Rhonda I can understand your frustration. I have been in tears all night, and maybe this is because I am going to face the music at the doctors today! I will have lost "0" weight since my last visit! But I have restriction and know that I don't need a fill. What I do need is to make the RIGHT CHOICES AND EXERCISE!! I am beginning to feel like a failure like I have felt in diets past. I feel that I am at a point that I am not on the "program". My husband told me the other day, you spent a lot of money on your "LB" get to the gym! Nice guy. I know he is trying to motivate me but that just pissed me off! He is right of course. You all tell me, I don't think I need a fill, for I have restriction with foods. some days I can hardly eat a thing, but I can still over eat the 4-6 oz, which I am never certain of the portion size I am supposed to eat when it is soup or salad? what do you think? I am sorry for wining! I just feel crappy today. Maybe the doctor visit will give me some motivation, I am hoping. I am having dinner with another LB friend that I met on the site. We both have the same doctor, so I am looking forward to that. maybe we can both provide inspiration.

No you are not a thread killer. I totally can relate. I have done well, but I am hunger most of the day depending on what time of the month it is. Today I was starving - is was 2:30 and I hadn't had lunch. I was out so I pulled in to McDonalds - I ordered a chicken nugget kids meal and forgot to ask for apples instead of fries. So of course instead of not eating them, I shoved 2 in my mouth immediately. I got through about 1/2 a nugget and thought I was going to have to pull over and PB. I managed to hold it down, was in pain and STILL hungry. I had a NSV today, but also a very sad realization. I needed new pants because I am walking around holding mine up all the time like those kids that walk around with their pants hanging and their hands on their crotch! I went to Dress Barn and picked up a 20W - but was surprised to find I really needed an 18W (I started at a tight 32W). That of course is wonderful, until I looked at my legs in the full length mirror - YUCK! Unless I can afford a thigh lift, I will never be able to wear a swimsuit or shorts above the knee again. Maybe if I could get my butt in gear and exercise, I could make some improvement, but that is so hard for me! I hope everyone can get back on track in the new year. It is a daily battle for me to make good choices and I often don't, Thank goodness I can't overeat anything! Well I can eat chocolate pudding with brownies I found out - but I am not a sweets eater and only want chocolate about once a month.

Yay Regina! Quitting smoking is HUGE! I know from personal experience how tough it is to quit and I am so proud of you. The good thing about the weight loss is, you know exactly what you aren't doing. Just start tackling those things on your list one at a time. Get all your water in tomorrow or take a vitamin or something and get back in the swing of it. It is hard to remember everything we need to do every day! Melissa- 2 miles running is AWESOME!! My cousin and I are actually planning to do a run in June and my first day is Wednesday to start training. I told her I would decide by the end of the month if I am actually going to go through with the run! Barb-I'm happy you are doing well on solids. Be careful with those fills-don't be too aggressive! But hopefully having those polyps removed will help you tolerate more fill. You got 50 pounds off, I know you can get 50 more!! A sort of NSV today-I gave blood! The last few times I've tried, my iron was low. I've been taking liquid iron, but it wasn't helping, so I changed brands and I was fine today. I'm in the 5 gallon club at my local blood bank and I want to get to 10!

Well i haven't had any NSV's as of yet. and what is pb's or pd's i know what sliming is yahoo!!!

Thanks everyone! I can't believe others don't have nsv's to share. This is one of the best weight loss experiences I have ever had and I can't wait to share my successes! I love to read others' as well.

NSV stands for Non Scale Victory. Sometimes we go down in a size or someone tells us that we look great. Those are non scale victories.

Marlena - CONGRATS on Onderland :clap2: Real Chocolate Candy - I just don't do it - I don't start - Not one piece of See's passed my lips over the holidays - did allow myself xmas cookes that I made with Grandaughters & tamales that I made with DIL - but that was it... I find that i can satisfy my craving for choc with my double choc sf puddings & healthy choice fudgecicles which are sf and have only 80 calories... Michelle - I had cookies that were to deliver to a freind - but never made it to their house - I had finished my allotment - I took those that were left and threw in the trash - they were covered in plastic on a paper plate - then I realize that due to the fact that they were covered I could go back - so i took them out and crumbled them up so i couldn't go back.. I bet there isn't a fat person who hasn't done this you are normal - well at least you and I are NMSunshine I want to you to THROW THOSE DARN CANDIES AWAY NOW.... You can do it - walk over to the trash throw them in and pour something over them... Do it now - Do not let stupid choc win over you - they are the devil... They are doing nothing but hurting you..... Throw them away NOW..... Better in thee than in me..... Your new mantra... xoxox Janet P.S. - My NSV for not eating candy - I have a size 12 pair of pants on.... -
Hi guys I hope you don't mind if I jump in and share a couple of NSVs . I have ben reading all of your and I am so inspired by you all. When I started my jourmey I wore a size 18W jeans I was on meds for blood prssure and arthritis in my back. I no longer need either of these meds and I feel so good now. As far as the clothing sizes go I am just dumbfounded. My daughter(size 11) was mistakenly given a size 17 jean for Christmas. She brought them into my room and said I could have them since they were way too big for her. I tried them on just for kicks since they are juniors and designer and knock me down they fit!!!!! I have not had on juniors jeans in years!!! I am still a long way from goal but boy did this make every moment of this journey worth it . Keep up the good work and thank you for letting me brag a little it feels so good! Take care
