Congratulations on your NSV and many more to come. My boyfriend told me I felt different too.
  4. HI all, My surgery was 12/20. From my post on JAn 2 of being so BLue, things did turn around, as all your words of wisdom told me they would. I am down from Nov about 21 lbs, but better than that is: My wedding rings no longer cut the circulation off my finger. I bought a belt to keep my pants up. I don't miss food as much as I did a few weeks back (especially during the liquid diet phase!) My favorite though, is after an evening of intamacy  ~ the next morning, my husband told me, Baby, you even feel different already.

You guys have some great NSV's. It's very inspiring to read these.
  6. Dynamo~ I am happy for Todd that he is out of the hospital, but WOW, why wait until he has another episode? There has to be something they can do??? Darn it! I am sooo watching AI too! I cried, I laughed, and I lost A LOT of IQ points! I love the crazy sparkly girl...she is freakin out though!! I worked out tonight NSV 1330 mile on the elpitical...shooting for 12!! Did 1.5 on the bike and then finished my 3 miles on the treadmill (boring). Did the free weights and that was that...another workout done! I do seem hungrier after working out. I have an appointment for a fill on the 31st.
  7. i went to the store today to buy some jeans. Last ones I bought were 48X30's. Today, my new size is 38X30 and they arent even tight!!!. Mn that really made my day Now I am only 6 inches away from my goal size...

Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

Ruby - you had me cracking up on this... Heck we patrol the whole lbt site :0) 1) I am just really nosey now... what is everybodies Marital status...??? single/divoriced 2) Does everyone live alone and cook for one?? My 16 Grandson lives with me - I cook for him most likely 4 nights a week - I prepare separate meals for him most of the time - he does eat fish with me sometimes if I have lemon. 3) Who prepares family meals and who eats what they cook their family? ' I prepare most meals - my GS will make his own a couple times a week - last night at 10:30 p.m. he is making cupcakes - OMG - NSV I didn't eat any when I woke up at 1:30 - just had a bite of cold hamburger patty... I sometimes eat what I cook for GS but not often - sometime I take the hamburger when he is having taco's and make myself something diff with the meat. 4) Or... do you prepare special meals just for your bandster self? 98% of the time I make my fish rice and veggies for dinner.

Glad to see that everyone is finding the new location. I have no idea why they moved us. I guess they are just trying to clean up the boards. Barb12 --so sorry to hear about your loss of your friend. By the way --how is your back feeling from your injury? Barb4 --I hope that your fill goes well next week and that the heartburn is just a little stump in the process and will go away. Let us know how you are doing. Mary --how is your training for your half marathon going? I read an article in Runners magazine that I think has changed the way I jog. It was speceific to new runners and said that one of the major mistakes we make is to have a stride that is too wide (or long). I have since shortened my stried and it has allowed me to get into a great rhythm without feeling strain on my musles. Just wanted to share that with you. Let us know how your training is going. I had a NSV this morning. I jogged 3.5 miles. The last half mile took a bit of a stretch for me but I made it!!! Still at turtles pace but that will improve with time. I also had a scale victory ---I am at an all time new low of 191 pounds. 2 pounds and I will be in the 180s. I haven't seen the 180s in probably 7 years. I hope to reach that goal by the end of this week. I hope everyone is doing great. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Melissa Lea

Following my own advice -- :(

Hi, Mindy. I'm only frustrated with myself for giving into the frequent weighing. Oh, sure, I'd love to be losing as quickly as some. As helpful as this board is, the down side can be reading about others gushing about how the weight is falling off when it isn't happening to me. And I know I'm not losing because I don't have restriction yet, because I had a low BMI to begin with, and because I'm perimenopausal and having periods that last two weeks and come every two weeks. I have small NSVs every day and when I'm not weighing myself, I appreciate them more. I posted this thread to "come clean" about my dirty little habit. I was thinking last night as I was going to sleep that weighing once a week would probably be fine for me. However, I'm such a slow loser that even once a week might show very little progress. Since I go in Friday for my next fill, I'm at least going to weight till then. If I can feel any change in restriction, I might weigh weekly but if it doesn't feel any different, I might as well wait until my next appointment. Thanks for your counsel! You know I value your input and you've set a great example!

Here are my NSV's: 1. When I run into old friends my weightloss is the first thing they notice and the compliments are flattering. 2. I am able to keep up w/my 5yr old son alot better instead of tiring out so quickly. 3. I save money on food bc #1, i don't do the soda's any more, and #2, leftovers last alot longer and finally, #3, when out to eat, i just nibble off of hubby's plate. 4. have gone from a size 22 to a size 18/20 and have 1 16/18 shirt! 5. i have bagged up 3 or 4 large garbage sacks of clothes and given them away to some of my girlfriends at church! and lets face it, fat clothes are more expensive, and i had good clothes, so it made others happy that i shared! which made me happy! 6. sex has never been bad, but a smaller me means less self conscience 7. working out is a reality now and not a nightmare.. 8. AND...i am starting to tone muscle that i had forgotten i had! YAY! 9. I'm overall healthier now 10. sleep apnea has improved a bit 11. no more gluccophage for diabetes needed anymore! my sugar is well controlled by my diet and exercise now! and thats a huge blessing! 12. overall, i feel alot better about myself, but still not where i want to be just yet. wish i was farther along, but happy i'm not where i was! xoxo, christie

My NSV's are: I am finally wearing a smaller size in clothes. My face is thinning out. I am starting to enjoy looking at myself in the mirror again. When I look down I can actually see my feet again. ( I need a pedicure!) My 42DDD are now a 40DD (Don't want to lose to much of these) Every time I see people I know they all comment on how "skinny" I am getting (LOVE IT) I am starting to feel like a WOMAN again. I can't wait for more!
  18. Anita! Congrats on those smaller clothes! I love it! I had to buy a 4xl scrub pants to replace my 5 xl's and my daughter was folding the laundry the other day and she came running in the bedroom, "Moma (that's what she calls me) you're wearing a smaller size?" She was beaming! What a great NSV -- having your child beam with pride! Damn, I love that girl!! Heather is right, Lane Bryants does run small. I think, anyway. I also have much smaller clothes calling my name. I have a smaller pair of jeans that I bought when I first planned my surgery. I have them hanging in the front of the closet where I see them everyday. Also a tinier Babydoll blouse! I can't wait to wear them! Yeah!!! Heather, I hope your doggie is there! I still feel so bad about not getting our "Barry" -- he was such a dollbaby and he would have added so much joy to our lives. I pray that he went to a good home. If your husband divorces you because of the doggie, just get in your car and drive west and then south! I'll be waiting! Just think you can get your fills from Dr. K! Mal, Great story! have you heard of suspenders? I had to buy some for my scrubs before I finally got a smaller size. I had a hard time finding a pair. I would ask the very young clerk @ Target or Wal-mart and they looked at me like I had two heads! Yes, my head is freakishly large and the size of two normally sized heads, BUT suspenders are not that odd of a clothing item! Did you know that the human head (normal size, not mine) weighs about 8 lbs? I've lost just over one human head. How many human heads have you lost? (frequently at work, I lose my own!) Can't wait to see all of your pretty pretty faces tonight!!! Hugs, dee~ Oh! I forgot, my goal Mal is to do the Susan G Koman walk this year! We should have a Lap Band group do it together. I'll be walking in honor of my Grandma Juanita. She died when she was 61 y/o of Breast CA with Met. I was a freshman in HS. She was the sweetest Grandma, the type who'd get on the floor with the kids and play games. Anita, she loved Christmas music (and Josh is always acceptable! -- I got that one for my daugther in her stocking) and listened to it year round -- she also had a Christmas tree in every room! Don't you love those kinds of Grandmas?

    The Scale Won't Budge

:angryI am getting so frustrated, banded 11/15/2007, 1st fill 1/26/2007 3cc in a VG band which holds 14cc. The scale has not moved in over 5 weeks. I am eating protien first, never eating and drinking together. I started working out this week everyday a minimum of 30 minutes. I definately see NSV as the inches are coming off but would like to know if any of you have experienced this and when does it surpass? Next fill is scheduled 1/22/2008

    For Just Us Guys

Someone on here asked about life insurance. I have seen a couple of post here and on other sites about this question. I have heard that some people have been able to get a price break because they have lost so much weight and their blood levels and other things were back to normal. So we all have something to look forward to. Also keep your current insurance and doo not drop it until you have the documents in hand. I have heard people dropping one and then not getting approved. Just something to keep in mind. I guess you can say for some people that this is a NSV. Chris
  21. Woofay- You rock woman!! Congrats on the NSV! And just FYI, I don't think their stuff runs that big, so take the compliment! :biggrin1: I just bought my first pair of jeans in 10 years from AE Outfitters ...they won't fit me yet but I'm going to hang them right on my closet door to remind me that I need to get my butt in gear when I get my cast off next week! Motivation clothing!!!! They are super cute wide leg jeans. I can't wait to get my cast off so I can work out instead of sitting on the computer and shopping!! Hee hee! Oh, and by the way...across the river is only about 10 to 15 minutes away, so I really don't have any excuse for not going to a gym in Iowa other than the bridge rush hour traffic (which I could easily avoid). I'm really just a slacker! Dee- They still have the picture of my little puppy on the humane society website...I'm going to take my chances and drive over there tomorrow on the off chance that the guy that answered the phone didn't know what he was talking about. They have another Jack Russel also, but he's not as cute... My husband doesn't know about this yet so I may be headed for divorce (which might be ok at this point as I am not too happy with him lately...) Wish me luck with my puppy endeavor!!

I LOVE this topic! 1. I can walk the stairs at my office and not have to stop (6 flights). 6 months ago, I was wheezing. 2. I love to work out and I feel so good. 3. People are starting to notice and random people are telling me how good I look. 4. My skin is better than ever, it has cleared up and I look younger! 5. I have 2 bags of fat clothes that I will NEVER wear again. 6. The BEST NSV is that I am finally starting to feel like ME again!!
  23. Anita~ that is so awesome!!! Way to go on the NSV!!!! Well ladies I started the Couch to 5K program today. I am siked! I did 1.2 miles today. Half walking, half jogging. I was pooped when I came home. lol :cheer2:To help really motivate myself, I registered for the Run Down Crime 5K they are holding in Tucson for the Tucson Police Association. :thumb: The run is in September so I have LOTS of time to get ready! This is my main exercise goal for the year. I MUST do this! No failing allowed. :biggrin1:
  24. I am an emotional eater, as well. The only reason I say that in the present tense is because that is the first thing I want to do when I'm feeling stressed out. My social worker at the surgeon's office recommended that I find new coping mechanisms ahead of time so that when those moments come up I can so something constructive. I came up with a list of things I can do instead and it has helped me. The one time that the urge was too strong to resist, I just found some low calorie Snacks to eat instead. I measured it out and that's all I ate and that was that. It's not the easiest thing I've ever done, but has it been worth it? Boy, has it ever. I'm down 33 lbs and physically feel so incredibly much better than I did before. Each day I find a new reason to love this band. New NSVs (non-scale victories) everyday. I LOVE it. And with each lb that comes off, I am overjoyed because I know it's gone for good. It takes work because I don't have good restriction, yet. I've only had one fill and I am RAVENOUS a lot of the time because I'm restricting my calories on my own. But I just find other things to occupy my time. This forum helps out a lot. Since I'm obsessing about getting down to a healthier size, it helps to be around like-minded people. LOL
