    Scale issue..

That's a good idea about weighing the dumbbells! If you can, stick with one scale... even if your weight isn't accurate at least the difference from the week before will be

    Helping/rewarding my husband

Congrats on your -100!!! He's not a tattoo kinda guy, unlike me lol. But I think it's an awesome idea. I was thing of buying him a halfway there watch with his highest weight inscribed so he will remember where he came from and strive to keep going. Sent from my VK810 4G using the BariatricPal App
  4. Not sure how a fill will make you feel better...my health and overall general feeling did not occur until the weight started to come off....and for me that did not begin to happen until 2-3 months after surgery....

  6. I honestly feel like I am going to fail at this continuously.. you are not alone. I think it's because as a former obese person ( i love saying that) I failed at every diet I ever tried. I would lose then gain gain gain. This is different than a diet and I know you are going to be soooo successful! I am so glad you were able to get out of your funk.
  7. Hey Mary, I too was hungry before my first fill, but I was determined to not have gained when I went to my fill appointment. I excercized and really tried to focus. I know it's not easy but you have a tool now, it may not be a great tool as of yet but it's still there. You can do it! Try and eat Protein, then veg. If you need a snack stick to 100 calorie Snacks. Try and stay away from carbs. I know it seems overwhelming but let me tell you that nothing feels better than losing and not gaining. I bought a wii fit at the beginning and did 30 minutes of fun excercize every day. When you are sitting on the couch watching tv do leg lifts, make a goal that during commercials you will walk around, try going up the stairs.. stuff like that. Keep your body moving.. now is the time where the bulk of your weight will come off , make sure you drink at least 64 ounces of Water a day.. I am a crystal light fanatic. I promise you if you try these things and yes I know it seems hard but you can do it! You went through all you did to get banded and paid for it as well, you can do this. Do not allow yourself to get into a rut. You have the power now!! Use it. Use this time where your body will shed weight like crazy to your benefit. don't allow yourself to just give in. Make a goal for every day and stick to it. Focus and just realize that a year from now you will be thin!!! Good luck and keep your head up!
  8. I'm dealing with United Healthcare right now. I know what you mean, lol. We're going to be submitting the paperwork next week. Hopefully I have everything they need/want. I was told to provide: -- Weight history for 5 years -- Diet history -- Note from PCP (I don't have a PCP right mine because mine opened her own practice and I haven't gotten another one because I never need to go to one! So I'm using my endocrinologist, who I've been seeing for 5 years. He wrote a note for me) -- And then meet the BMI requirements, see a nutritionist, and get a psych eval

    Stall For 2 Weeks

I agree with other posts that this is totally normal. I had almost a month of little or no weight loss and then I changed from working out in evening to morning, added more "real food" like fish and veggies, and began tracking EVERYTHING on MyNetDiary. Then yesterday, BOOM, lost 3lbs. I have lost 30lbs since surgery on July 11 but this surgery is definitely not the easy way out, I think more and work harder on myself since this surgery then any other program I have attempted. Stay strong and just shake up your routine, you have to outsmart your body! Good Luck!
  10. I know it's not much, but I'm excited to say that I have taken the first step, officially! I spoke to my general family doctor today and asked for a referral to a surgeon. I had already picked out where I wanted to go, based on references from a couple of friends, and research that I had done on my own. But something that I didn't know prior to reading the brochure I was given today, is the surgeon I have chosen, is in a Center of Excellence for Bariatrics! YAY! I was a bit disappointed though, thinking that this would be the first of my 6 month medically supervised diet. Turns out, the bariatric center works closely with a weight management center. So they want all of their patients to go with the weight management center for their diets, and they walk you through the process and all the hoops that the insurance makes you go through. This program though, costs $120, which covers education, materials, and other miscellaneous stuff. Insurance pays for the appointments though. So that's not too bad, but still... ugh. So, I'm on my way! I think I impressed my doctor though. I don't think she was prepared for me to know so much already about the surgery, the options (Lap band VS Bypass), and the lifestyle changes required before and after surgery. Next step is to call the Bariatric Center and get scheduled for a Seminar and follow up appointment! I also got a prescription for Wellbutrin to help me stop smoking. So wish me luck with that! Oh, and I've lost 6 pounds this past month! YAY ME!

    Hello

Well...welcome to the site! I found it before surgery and its been so helpful. Everyone where I work had Gastric Bypass...I would have felt lost without being able to hear everyone on here! Congrats on all your weight loss so far!

    Am I On Track

Lose the word "only" unless it's "I've only got x pounds to goal!" You're doing quite well with your sleeve. Immediately after surgery, you have water weight to contend with from the fluids that are pumped into us during surgery. Losing 21 pounds in under a month, or two months, is fantastic! Keep up the good work!
  13. I have lymphedema in both legs .. and even with the weight I've lost so far ... they don't seem to be going down much ... a few years ago I lost weight and they went down "some" ... but now ... they are just as hard and big as they were pre-op .... so anyone out there have any stories to share with me? I need a glimmer of hope that when I lose the weight I want to ... that I could wear capri pants in public ... ya know? thanks everyone
  14. Good Morning, I had my revision the end of August 2014 started at 227 and I'm now at a stand still at 193! I'm really at a lost I haven't lost anymore weight I have been steady toggling between 189-194 I can't get out of this slump and my surgery anniversary is fast approaching! I'm not sure if this count as slow are just stopped?
  15. Seasoned sleevers, what was your weight loss like? I have read several posts where people have talked about slow weight loss after revision. I know our metabolisms are slower already since we had the band, but I haven't really lost any weight in the last week or so, just 3 was post op. Just curious as to others experiences.... Also, I noticed a bump under one portion of my incision where they removed my port. Last week, the entire incision was a little hard, now it is just at one end. Did anyone experience this? How long until it went away?

    Losing Weight Pre-Op

Great, congrats on your weight loss!! I never heard Adipex, is it a diet pill?

    Losing Weight Pre-Op

Sorry for the late reply, I had my surgery on Feb 28th. Just got to checking my email. As far as what Adipex is, I'll paste a description from drugs.com... Adipex-P (phentermine) is a stimulant similar to an amphetamine. Phentermine is an appetite suppressant that affects the central nervous system. Adipex-P is used together with diet and exercise to treat obesity (overweight) in people with risk factors such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or diabetes. So, yes, I believe it is a sort of diet pill. It helped me meet my weight loss goal to qualify for surgery. I hope this helps

    Losing Weight Pre-Op

That's the plan. I thought about indulging when I got to the weight I needed and decided against it. I don't want to regain so I want to commit to the process.

    insurance help needed

Dave, That is a hard thing to do. Often when you purchase individual insurance you are excluded for prexisting conditions. I know when I tried to get different insurance, being self employeed, that no one would take me because of my weight. So I basically have had my same insurance for the last 10 years. If what you are saying is possible often the super high premiums make it unaffordable, otherwise everyone would be doing what you want to do-get coverage for a pre-existing condition covered on a new policy. In 3 years of active looking for insurance-I never got accepted for new insurance due to my weight-- and by the way in the 10 years of health insurance coverage I used my coverage NEVER, ZILTCH, NADA. So I should of been an excellent candidate for a new company--but such is life in the world we know. T

Anyone 5'5" and around 200 lbs at surgery date?

Thank you both! I also have a thyroid issue. So that's good to know. I am waiting for my dr to approve papers and send in for approval. I am hoping I am approved. I just made the 35% bmi cut off. You would think my medical issues would be more important than the weight. Anyway...hoping to get approved soon!

    Rate of Weight Loss?

how tall are you and what weight did u start at? I am 11 weeks post op and including a 1 week pre op I am down about 50 lbs, I am eating about 1000 cals a down, most of my weight was lost in first 6 weeks, now I am losing about 3lbs a week and you have just got to get used to it. I have had two fills but only occasionally feel much restriction, I think everyones journey is different as everybody is different, all you need to do is keep your mind in the right place. I am 5-7 and started my journey at 267lbs

    Exercise Regimen

I was banded on 12/29/10. At 2 weeks post op I started walking 2 miles a day on the treadmill, however i was getting pain at the port site becuase my belly was moving around so much when walking, it was tugging at the internal stiches i think! ha ha. I cant walk slower than a 3 on the treadmill so I started wrapping my belly with an ace bandage to hold it tight. I havent had to do that this week and on Monday even started Zumba! My plan is Zumba Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Treadmill with low weight arm excercizes for the other days. (need to lose that under arm FLAB. I bought a 5 lb weight ball that I toss around with my boys (ages 12 and 14) or even with my husband. Its fun and I am working out too! The hardest part for me now is i can eat almost much as I want. I dont get my first fill until 2/10. Sucks because i get home from the gym and want to pig out. eeeekkk!

    Scale issue..

All scales vary. Some are more accurate than others. Do you have dumbbells around? Try weighing one and see which scale displays the closest weight.
