    NSV shout outs

Today is one month since my surgery. I'm down 21 lbs on my scale! My NSV was yesterday and today. I have a few pairs a pants that were my size but just too tight compared to the others. I was able to wear one pair yesterday and just put on the other pair-they feel even better! These are really the first things I can really say I noticed!!!

    NSV shout outs

Ha! I had the classic just now. I was walking through my living room with my daughter in arms, and could feel my jeans inching down on one side!!!! and then.... wooshka! down around my ankles they went!! *hysterically laughing* and there it is...my first real embarassing NSV (lucky I bought some very neat smalls in a smaller size last week!!!!)

    NSV shout outs

#1 NSV!!!!! Tried on a pair of 10's just to see if they would fit me a little bit 3-4 weeks ago. ( I like to test the waters) They did not so I bought the 12's. They look great. I love the dark dark denim wash and these jeans snatch your waist and lift your butt. I wanted to buy the 10's for later but decided not to be impulsive. I went back yesterday to get some items out of layaway and came across the jeans I loved. I figured I still wasn't ready for them but I wanted to grab them to wear later like next month or so-- since they are such a great fit (good jeans are hard to find). I took them home and before hanging them up I tried them on to see how far I'd have to go and to my surprise they fit like a glove!!!! I have a pair of Kenneth Cole jeans in a size 12 that must be 8's in real life because I can't even get them on for at least another 20lbs. I'll be super happy to get into them but for now I'm basking in my VICTORY!!!!! #2 Another NSV-- while I was at the store there was this really cute guy who I could tell kept trying to get my attention but very subtly. He was hoping I would make eye contact so that he could engage me but I had my ear buds on and I was bopping and looking everywhere but directly at him. I kept running into him but you see I already peeped him and decided the moment I saw him I was physically attracted to him soooo I refrained from any personal contact with him. yes a simple "hi sweetheart how are you today"? could spark something. I don't trust myself yet. I am happily married but I have harmless tendencies that could get me in trouble so I do what I gotta even if that means being a little rude which I wasn't in this case. #3 I hung out with my friends over the weekend and we took pics !!!!! For the first time in forever-- I actually liked the way I looked in the picture compared to everyone else. I was pleased! I wan't the "fat one" anymore. I blended in with everyone else. Such a great feeling. I am 2 lbs from onederland. So I am looking forward to hitting that in the next couple days. Adios!

I just finished priming the railings on one side of the deck. It's 80 out and beautiful. My painting today was in the shade next to the hum of the a/c so it wasn't bad at all. AND it was the first time in my life that I have ever worn a tank top!! Another NSV!! woooo hooooo! I'm eating my Walmart Tuna Salad and will have some watermelon and black sweet cherries for dessert. Then it's off to the pool in the backyard for some aerobics. Ethan comes today at 2 and we have him until 11:30 tonight.. so you know I'll be busy!! We're going out to dinner and then to a Beatle's type concert at the band shell. It'll be a fun day today for sure.

Hey Katrina, Isn't "1" a beautiful number? Congratulations on making it to onederland. Life is different here--you'll see. I've only been here for a month or so, but the NSV's just keep piling on. I had to put my wedding ring away yesterday as it is so loose I was afraid I would loose it. When I get closer to my goal I will have it resized. That's one of 4 things I want to do this summer: 1. Resize the ring; 2. Get a new driver's license; 3. Get a TT (or at least get serious about it); 4. shoot, I can't remember #4! I'll have to let you know later when I remember. It's gonna be a slow day today--snowing outside AGAIN, and I am so tired of being cold all the time, I'm just going to turn up the heat in here and bundle up. I wish DH would buy a treadmill or elliptical, but that's another story.
  8. Thanks Jennifur....yes I colored it yesterday. It was blonde highlights, now I am Auburn. What interesting words did your db have for you? Inquiry minds (aka nosey me) want to know!! Michelle-thanks for the compliment!! Congrats on the NSV!! That is so awesome! Kat-My hair is way too thin now for bangs, so the lady said a "swoop" would look good. My regular beautician called in sick today so I went to a lady I had never been to before...I will go back to her next time. I am like you, I love to just be able to pull my hair up & go but I decided to go ahead and bite the bullet! If you did it, you would not regret it!!! GO! :huggie:
  9. Hi Everyone! Pamela - the pictures are great and thanks for sharing! I agree with you that my mind and eyes think I need more food than my new stomach. Kat - your parents are so lucky to have a wonderful daughter like you -- and so are we - thanks for watching over us and giving us our education, and your advice. Jenn - I wish you the best of luck on finding a job that will be satisfying for you. Laura - congrat's -- can't wait to see pictures! Hope the house is getting fixed. Judy - congrat's on the NSV, looking forward to seeing your picture as well -- Fantastic job by DH -- he caught up to you, that is the way it is with men - they can loose so much faster than women. Have a great weekend everyone and BE SAFE! Gina

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. I'm kind of weepy right now with my DH just thinking about my Dad and StepMom. But I logged on, and your kind thoughts and prayers helped to cheer me up. I really shouldn't feel too bad. My dad is facing this with open arms and heart, ready for whatever God wills. So I guess I should too. The kids were so excited about Santa coming tonight. I logged onto Norad's Santa tracking site for them, and Jesse was right into it. So cute!!! We decorated the Gingerbread house together and then when we put Sarah to bed, he helped me make some special shortbread Cookies just for Santa. Now the cookies & milk are out, the carrots are ready for the reindeer and my DH is wrapping presents. I'm kicking back with a glass of red wine, and thinking about how special Christmas is. I love Christmas. It was my Mom's favourite holiday, and I think it rubbed off on me. I don't care about the presents, just the togetherness and the joy and excitement in the kids eyes. I love to cook and bake at this time of year and watching my loved ones enyoy it. Of course, I won't be able to eat much of it... but that's ok. Just spending the time together is what I love. Have a wonderful holiday. And for those among us who don't Celebrate Christmas, or who celebrate Kwanza, Hannaka (sp?), or just finished Eid, or another holiday... I hope it's wonderful and full of joy. Ok, I'm a bit sappy tonight... oh well!! I had an NSV the other day. For our Christmas present, my Dad and Stepmom gave us $$ to go to the store and pick out our own gift. Then we came back and wrapped them and opened them to share with everyone. It was hillarious to show everyone. We all got right into the spirit of the moment. They really wanted us to have nice presents, but didn't have the emotional energy to do it themselves. So we all did it for them. Just as an aside... if you ever find yourself in a similar situation... this works and is a lot of fun for everyone! Anyways, my NSV moment... I love the store, Coldwater Creek. We don't have it in Canada, so I order from them online sometimes. But there is a store in Fort Wayne where my dad lives. So I went shopping. In the past, I could occasionally find a 3x that would fit, but not always. Well, I bought 2 pairs of pants size 20 (I was size 26) and 2 tops size 2x. They look beautiful!!! And my DH thinks I'm sexy in them... of course he thinks I'm sexy all the time... but I saw the twinkle & excitement in his eye and know that he's thinking I'm even more sexy!! Ok, enough sharing for one Christmas Eve. Happy Christmas everyone!!!
  11. I had to fly to NY this past weekend for baby sister's wedding ... haven't flown since 2002 ... Never liked it because of my size ... But this time ... it was non-issue !!! Enjoyed it sooooo much!!! Wahooooooo hooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!! Sky's the limit everyone!!!

    Banders #6

Hello everyone. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday, whatever you Celebrate. My son invited us over and never called to say what time he would be done at his SIL's. I blame his wife, oh well. I saw my grandsons a few times this week. I would just be going over to see what Santa brought. They got their Hanukkah gifts from us last week. Had a super duper NSV the other night. I started PT for my shoulder and the therapist and I were talking about WLS. One of her sisters had by pass and is very thin, the other one needs surgery and she would like it but I think she is too thin for it. I would say she wears a 14-18 and her BMI is not over 35, you can tell. Well for one of the exercises she had me hold a cane behind me and said, you have no ass!!! My old ass could hold a serving tray for 100. Best NSV. Yesterday I had on a new sweat suit, bottoms size L and they were baggy in the ass after wearing them all day. Now just to get the spare tire/muffin top to leave the body, would be great. Everyone have a great weekend. The rain has left Boston and the temps are around 50. Not bad for December. The rain returns Sunday for the Pat's final regular season game. True Pat's fans don't care what the weather is. I would never sit in the rain or snow for even a super bowl game. Arlene

    I'm here to help...

Hey Linda...good goin' on throwing that leg up for the doc! Also, very nice NSV...so funny you talk about being "normal". That's how I envision most of you. If I have seen your photo after weightloss, it's tough to see someone that once was heavier. Good luck on switching your sleep schedule to your work sleep schedule. Not easy to do but maybe will help with your sleep troubles. My DH's CPAP lulls me to sleep and keeps me sleeping. B/4 he had it, it did not sleep well at all. He was always a fitful sleeper and woke me up. He's not heavy and never has been. He and oldes DS 28 were both diagnosed with a rare sleep disorder. He had thickening around his heart...that was an indicator. Would love to borrow your DH once in awhile to do the supermarket trips for me. My DH was in a supermarket once. He didn't like it and never went back. Eva.....I know we will enjoy the trip down. DH and I travel well together and have a lot of fun (as long as I get my way...kidding). We enjoy museums, stopping at garage sales, surplus stores, etc. Will have to leave a corner of the truck empty just for such stops. Thought maybe you had a p.j. day today also. So sad........ OK...all of you that are still in your p.j.'s...it's almost time to put on a new pair.

Thank you everyone for your wonderful advice. This really is the best place for me to be at times like this and even when I go silent, it's still the only place that stops me from going completely mad. I've kind of taken a good look at what I'm doing and not doing. Last month towards the end I really started doing a lot of cardio to try and catch up to my monthly challenge goal. But it made me hungrier. As often as I could I would drink rather than eat. When I really felt the food demon I would go to the gym for half an hour. But I find a glitch in my defense in that I was drinking a lot of Lipton Raspberry flavored ice tea. My husband asked if he could have one since I always seemed to be guzzling them down (he's good like that when he thinks something is for ME). Well it turns out that it has high fructose corn syrup in it, which was a big "NO!NO!NO!" ingredient when I was pushing close to diabetes. I thought I'd read the label on it, but I can't have had my glasses with me that day. I avoid anything with high fructose corn syrup like the plague as it sets off my hunger. :tt1: So this is probably the main culprit, although maybe not the only one. Still, fight one battle at a time. I'm going to make a more conscious effort with my water. I was substituting the tea for water and obviously it wasn't working. So that will be my main focus. I'm also going to take tomorrow off exercising. When I upped my routine over the past couple of weeks it was a good NSV. More often than not I feel so much better when I'm exercising. It sounds crazy and I never would have believed it a year ago. But now I know if I'm exercising, I'm not eating. So that's what was getting me to the gym more. But tomorrow, no exercise and I'm going to treat myself to a white chocolate mocha from Starbucks as well. I'm looking forward to that. :frown:

So how did you like the Zumba class? Crazy, huh? Everytime someone starts to exercise an angel gets her wings.....or something like that. It just does my heart so good to see folks ramping up their exercise even just a little bit at a time. Just remember that the scale is not necessarily your friend anymore! For example, yesterday I wore some pants that I forgot I had...I bought them in early June for a trip we took. I weighed 7# more than I do today. 7 measley pounds. I put them on yesterday and they were absolutely falling off of me...at least a size and a half too big. The scale is NOT reflecting my progress accurately! MSJEN - You remember that too! Sara -- why in the world did I think it was your SON who was injured??? I'm so sorry I misunderstood -- it's your husband!! I probably would have just broke down and cried if my FIL said that to me....I'm SO sensitive about that subject!! One thing I've noticed about my aging mother is that suddenly she has become downright RUDE sometimes and that is SO unlike her...she's always been so gracious it's like I don't even know her! I know it's hurtful, but just try to remember that it's a factor of his age....he probably doesn't even remember what you looked like 6 months ago!! DUH! And you are absolutely right about being glad you didn't have restriction while in Mexico....stress most definitely affects your band and it would have been disasterous if you hadn't been able to eat and keep YOUR strength up! OMG that would have been bad. So the angels were watching out for you in that way. Thanks for posting....I've been thinking of you. Pamela -- Your bed is downright LUSCIOUS!! Ya'll did a great job. I had my closet done last summer because it is too small and I also needed a cabinet and drawers for the jewelry I make. I couldn't believe how they actually gave me a cabinet and 5 drawers, a shelf unit for my shoes AND MORE rod space than I had before. It's like a miracle and I'm so glad I had it done! Thanks for the feedback, Kat. I just have to 'pay back' for all the help people like you gave to me when I was new ....and scared! I dont have the patience like you do, but like you said, I just let them know someone is listening...and I shoot from the hip. :woot: Are you still feeling blue about your job...or did that go away along with TOM? LOL :woot: Damn hormones. I've got the day off again today. Going to the gym, bookstore (for a strength training book  ), walmart, the bead store (my favorite place), etc. Oh, NSV last night.... my 17 yr old son wanted to come for a visit (he lives with his dad) and bring his 3 friends. They're all so cute. Anyway, I asked if they were hungry, knowing how the girls eat like birds and probably hadn't had dinner. The two girls are both vegetarian () and so I just started hauling out all the snack foods I had....and I was SO PROUD of myself that it was all healthy foods!! Granola, watermelon, cherries, hummus, whole wheat pita chips, cherry tomatoes, apple chips, cheese and lite cranberry juice to drink. They were in heaven! Bad news is now I have to go back to the store today!! LOL

    NSV shout outs

Well, I've crossed the overweight/normal weight barrier, so there have been quite a few NSVs lately. 1) Can fully cross my legs without getting uncomfortable at all. 2) Was in a clinical skills session where the doctor was using me to show the sternoclavicular joints and everybody in my group said, "WOW, you have such big clavicles, I can see everything!" 3) Running at 6.0 mph is too slow now - I used to struggle with 6.5 mph, but now it's my cruisin' speed! Haven't run any 5Ks or 10Ks since the surgery, but I suspect my time will improve quite a bit. I also walk way faster! 4) Went to an adult ballet class and was the fittest person there (not the skinniest, but definitely the strongest). The teacher said "You clearly have had some ballet training, so you should check out a higher level class." For someone who's always been fat and clumsy, that was huge! To top it all off, I placed in 4th level ballet even though I had only had the equivalent of 1 level of training. Now that the weight isn't getting in the way, my natural strength and flexibility are finally visible! 5) I don't even think about walking a couple of flights of stairs, I don't get out of breath at all. 6) My "skinny clothes" of yore are all at Goodwill or sold on Ebay now, because they were all way too big! 7) I can wear regular boots instead of special-ordering wide-calf ones and paying 3x the price.

I hate it when people post just to post.....

Kat -- how FANTASTIC! PJTbrag: 2nd NSV of the day! I got hit on just a little while ago! There's a guy who works in this building who I've seen several times this past year and has never said a word to me. Today as we're waiting for the elevator, he breaks the ice and asks me which floor I work on and then looks at my badge and says, "Nice to meet you Donna, I'm Leno" (Yes the same as the other Leno). Anyway, he proceeds to make small talk but it was the WAY he looked at me with that "grin" on his face. I haven't been hit on by a stranger in quite a while so it was especially gratifying. p.s. I'm PMSing so I was not feeling particularly perky but between my DD's comment this morning and this guy hitting on me, I feel like I'm floating again and those cramps don't seem nearly so painful now. :blushing:

Couple of my NSV's this week.... Took a minute to check the blood pressure......all is well and I've been off all blood pressure meds for two months now. Was also having early morning coffee. Took me a few minutes to actually wake up....realized that in the dark I'd grabbed an old t-shirt that I'd been saving. Didn't think it'd fit as it's an athletic cut 2XL. Well....it would seem that it fit with room to spare. Made my day start off with a confident feeling. This time last year I as wearing 5xl and 6xl shirts. So damn grateful.

I had my first post op surgery NSV today! It was so neat. . . i moved my daughter into her dorms today and then we needed to go purchase some text books. . . well the book store is about 3 stories up with stairs only, by the time we got up there and looking around, my poor daughter was sweating up a storm, me. . .usually i'd be there sweating like nobody's business right along with her, but there I was freezing and bundled up in my sweater. . . she asked if i wasn't hot, nope i was actually very very cold. . . yippy no more sweating like a sauna
  22. So, make that 3 of us that did not understand what Jenn said... Love the pics Michelle & Pam! Judy...what about that hot tub? Frank and I had a nice lunch at a a really good mexican food place. I could not eat much (thank goodness). Today is our five year anniversary. Wow, time flies!! Around noon I started getting a headache and I took 2 tylenol and it has not gone away. The past couple of days I have had great NSVs. Yesterday when I dropped dd off at daycare one of the teachers said I look fantastic. I get to work and my BOSS said "My GOD you are getting skinny". Then I go to get my hair done and when my hairdresser brought me to the shampoo bowl she pops her hands on her hips and says "OK, me and the other ladies want to know how in the world you are losing so much weight!" I told her my lapband story. Makes me feel so great! Tomorrow we are leaving for the weekend. I will check back in the morning before we leave.

"for the first time in 3.5 years, I literally fell asleep in my love's arms." Tiff, that brings tears to my eyes, it such a sweet, sweet NSV. The best I've ever heard. Nothing trivial about it, just the opposite. The journey you have been on is so remarkable. You should write a book; I am sure it would be successful. Soak up the love, Tiff...and enjoy! And thanks for sharing your personal journey.

Depending on who you ask... I had an NSV today. I needed new bras and was going to treat myself to some cute Victoria's Secret bras since I am now of a size that can be bought in that store..36 DD!! Down from 40 DDD..(like I said.. NSV depending on who you ask.. the fiance isnt extremely happy that my "girls" have gotten smaller.. but I'm happy).. After coming to my senses about paying $51 for a bra.. I decided to walk around the mall and ended up shopping on the clearance rack at LB.. I got 4 bras for $28!! Twinmommy- Try starting a thread about paying it forward.. if the May girls are unable to use your clothing, I'm sure someone out there most certainly can!
