    The Sweetheart Goal!

georgia girl, you are going to surpass that goal girl! you're doing so great at it! look at your over all loss of 62lbs! thats amazing!!! i remember thinking if i could just get to the 230's i'd be happy....i started out at 264.4.....and now i'm at 224.0 and i can't wait to see the number 200 on the scales!! and then i'll bust my behind to see the 199 show up...ahhh, dreaming about ONE-derland! still seems so far off. i hope i'm at 200 by this june, before our family reunion! they haven't seen me in 2yrs and none of them are aware that i've had the surgery. i'm thinking that i may tell them - when they ask how i lost the weight - by eating less and exercising more. which in part is truth....but, i know me, ill probably go on to be the natural born lapband sales woman i am! lol. dr. spivak should hire me in to talk to potential clients! i could sooo tell them what its like just at a 40lb weight loss and the achievement and success you feel. and just overall healthier and lighter step. i was at church tonight decorating and we had to climb a ladder to hang stuff from the ceiling and a few of the girls were like, "make christie do it, it has a 250 weight limit on it!". it took me a minute to realize thats another NSV! i'm under the weight limit for a rickity old wooden church ladder! lol. and no, i didn't climb it....i still felt like someone smaller should do it, but mostly bc i hate ladders! but the fact is, I COULD have done it! thats a great feeeling! xoxo, Christie keep posting updates and for everyone else in on the "sweetheart goal" please feel free to step in on our lil chats. just our way of staying sane through the huddles and struggles of weight loss. and its been a great tool to get to know each other better as well! XOXO, christie
  5. Hi girls~ Remember I spent 2 hours breaking ice yesterday? Woke up this morning to another 3 inches of snow, and it is still coming down...I am with Hayde--------I WANT SUMMER!!!!!!!!!!! I am out of clothes to pick from in my own closet as far as smaller sizes go. Of course right now it does not matter I am seriously stuck sitting here, I have not lost good in months. My Dr. told me I wouldn't when he found the problem, he explained all the mysterious ways a thyroid works, and metabolism is the biggest of them. I have no natural hormone to trigger my metabolism. My blood work supported that---so I am now back on low dose hormone replacement for it. He said we will take 3-6 months to work back to a therapuetic level of hormone. I don't know if I can do another surgery until it is level or not without totally disrupting my system. I really would like to see about having my TT or at the very least a pannectomy or whatever where they just remove the skin--I seriously look deformed. I tried on swimming suits---mistake, big huge mistake! To get a standard leg---I have no butt left, and my thighs are not pretty, but also not huge, so instead, my belly skin holds the leg opening----open!!! The skin tries to go down through it. Totally gross I know---sorry, just emphasizing, this is not a look in the mirror and feeling bummed day--it is seriously deforming! I have to wear the boy cut to keep it closed...and then I have this huge bubble of skin and residual fat---that the Dr, said is unlikely to diet off, since it is not muscle supported, and the muscle is what burns that off. So fine already--CUT IT OFF! Oh well----one of these days it will be gone, and I will be thrilled! My DD just called, her BF took her and my friend Becky to work, in his big truck, 4WD, dually- and big enough to handle anyone who got stupid and ended up hitting them. They got there, and now the road between us has been closed..... Terry, the judges chambers are fine by me---if you think it is a better choice, then secure it! I will be ready when you need it to send off the $$$. I will put this in the right thread too---just doubling the odds of you catching it quickly! Rick told me the other night of a big NSV I have---that I had not taken the time or realized til then. He said he thought I had quit moving at night! But realized I was rolling over without him even knowing it. Rolling over used to take lifting and shifting, and then moving back to where I wanted to be--it was not something I noticed, but it apparently jiggled the bed pretty good!!! When he said that, I noticed he is right, now I just flip and it is done!!! I want new clothes NSV's tho------and all the clothes they are putting out I want are summer clothes and it is up to about 6 inches out there now!!!! Well....time to go get something else to drink--and find something to eat----my stomach feels really acidy. Tracy Monday sounds like the best plan to me for you and Macy both--feel better soon! BBL~~ Kat

    Gruene Violets

Good Morning, Green Violets... Personally for me, to be able to get in the tub and relax will be a NSV!! Having no shower is not a problem for me. I love the looks of the place and would hate to have Terry try and figure out another hotel. But I'l go with the flow!
  7. Judy & Pam-Great NSVs!! Congrats! Good morning everyone. I kept dd home again today. Yesterday evening she started running a low grade fever again and I would have been foolish to bring her back to the day care with a low resistance. I might just call my boss in a minute and tell him to just plan on seeing me back Monday. We both need the time to heal completely. As for me, it is just the weirdest thing. I have chills, hot cold hot cold like I have a fever, take my temp and it is normal. I just do not get it?! I mean body aches and the whole 9 yards. My temp has not gone over 100 but maybe once or twice but I feel like death waarmed over! Weird. Have a great day violets!
  8. Hey~ Today for food this is what I had: 1/2 c. low fat cottage cheese = 100c 1 Kashi gran. bar = 180c 3 oz tuna = 90c lettuce = ? oil/vinegar = 80 tangerine = ? 17 pretzles = 110c 1/3 cobb sal = ? 1 piece of garlic bread = ? 1 JAZZERCISE...kick yo ass class = priceless (LOL) OK...the last two entries were a bit naughty, especially the bread. My brother invited me to dinner (who could resist a free dinner w/ little bro @ fav resturaunt). I don't know what the total is. Before the invitation, I was planning on a Lean Cuisine (all for me these days, the dog is pretty upset I got an unfil...:frown: @ Michelle). Anyway, good, bad or indifferent I DONT KNOW. I am not gonna weigh for a week or two...just gonna keep doing good. I just dont want to see 250 again. I am sure you all are as tired of my 250 as I am. Anyway...that is my story. Oh yeah, about 60 oz of water! OK...have a great night. PS- Had a great NSV today. I wore a shirt that I bought tight, and wore once. The shirt was gapped at the buttons before (not sure what size). Anyway, I first put on a shirt and I was swimming in it. Looked horrible. So I see this "older" shirt, and thought, well I'll just try it and see. It looked great, plenty of room, I wore it today and got sooo many compliments. People today for the first time since April/May have said, "you're lookin good!" Woofreakinhoo ladies! Made me feel soooo good!

    May 2007 Banders

HELLO Everyone!!!! I sure do miss this place when I can't check in and post. Had to out of town on business and no way to check email etc. Everyone seems to be doing well. I am just taking it one day at a time. I need to be better about exercising, gettin in my water most days. Hot tea (de caff) in the evenings now seems to be my favorite thing. Helps to get the fluids in and helps to stop the TV munchies (if you know what I mean). NSV - went shopping for some new pants yesterday. I bought a size ----drum roll please ------------ "8".......... I know I could not believe it, I asked the sales lady if maybe they were sized wrong. She said No. They are a little tight, didnt care, put them on when I got home and just strutted around the house. I sure can be silly sometimes. Sandra - you are doing so GREAT. My family and friends do not know about me having the band, and they have noticed that I eat diffrently also. They try to push food at me, they just don't understand...... I have not room for it, and if I force it in, they will get it back (in a way they might not like) LOL Take care all Laura

    Exercise challenge - 2008

I did it, I did it, I did it! I did go exercise and I was able to do 15 min on the Elliptical machine WITHOUT PAIN! I'm so excited, I have always LOVED the Elliptical, I think it contributed a lot to my weightloss. However, since my knee surgery, I have not been able to do it for very long before the pain would shoot thru my knee and cause me to swell. Well, yesterday I gave it another shot and I even kicked it up some and it didn't hurt until the very end, and it was just a mild pain, I could handle it. I don't want to push it very much more, but I will continue doing it and hopefully each week I can continue to kick it up. I'm just so excited. I think my knee troubles are about to be the past! I just cannot wait until I can really kick my exercise up, like doing squats and lunges again! I love those and so do my ARSE. Well, not really but it does shrink that area. lol. Anyhow, doing the elliptical yesterday was my NSV. I took your advice Sula and made sure that I wore a sweat band as to not get the sweat in my eyes, it worked. I plan on doing the elliptical again today and my weights. Hope everyone else is doing okay. Pilates is fun and I have taken some classes, I can gell it really works my core. After I can conquer my elliptical, I might try and take a palates class at the gym.
  12. Ay-yi-yi.........just looked at the 401K....makes my stomach sick! Good thing we don't have everything wrapped up there. Denise, I fainted once when I was pregnant! I had gone by where my ex husband worked, and we had walked behind the counter (parts dept.) and down an aisle, to talk $$$. I started seeing black dots, and woke up to every counterman in the store standing over me! Never happened again.....no idea why it did then! I had just come from lunch---which is why we were arguing money! I had spent some!!! OMG! LOL Anyway, the pregnancy advanced just fine, no other serious issues, I did end up with a tooth that give me crap the entire pregnancy, and ended up with a root canal when she was like 9 days old! Baby was fine though! Dang near 9 lbs! Hope your DD is feeling better, and that all goes well!!! Hugs! Tracy, hope Macy is feeling better tonight---how are YOU feeling? Do you think you have what she does, or are you simply exhausted? Keep us updated, you are such a good Mommy! Yes Terry you can come over and play under the tent with Kinsey and I! Yes---I sat under the table and played!!! I had to! I am the only one of us who can read she told me! Was fun, and was also a huge NSV for me. Crawling! I fit under there, and I was able to manuever around. I can't describe it, it was just fun----I loved being able to play with her under there, and not have to decline for lack of being able. Was a shame to hear about Heath Ledger. I have not heard what they suspect COD to be. Guess I will check my email and call it a night! See y'all in the morning! Hugs~~ Kat

    Slow Losers Unite!

Hey Y'all, Well, I went in for my fill today and even though I had not lost much weight since August, I did have a major NSV! My Dr. was very happy with my results. I lost over 19lbs of fat and gained 10 lbs of muscle. So, okay, I'm happier now since I know what is going on. I got a fill of 3.1cc today. Can't wait to see what this does for me.

    Dayton Ohio Bandster

I hit the gym today. I lasted about 35 minutes on the treadmill and lived to tell about it. I hadn't been there in a long time, but the lady at the check in desk remembered me and commented on my weight loss! I was so surprised because so few people have noticed. I also went through my closet again and now there is nothing too small in there. That is the first time I can say that because i have always had stuff in there that was too small. NSV Woo Hoo! I'm on new ground...
  18. PATRIOTS all the way, going to be 19-0!!! Major NSV for me on Sunday....I was asked by my company to work at the Patriots game at Gillette Stadium for 2 hours before the game at an indoor tailgate party, open bar and free food, then I was given 2 tickets to the game and free parking.... I fit in the seat with room to spare....Didnt lose my breath walking up the stairs and I had a great time!!

    NSV (Non Scale Victories)

I went shopping over the weekend with my 12 year old daughter and I tried on a coat at Delia'a (for girls) and it fit! I did not buy it but my daughter was so proud of me that it felt great. My NSV was not about the coat but how my daughter reacted and said "that is so cool Mom, now we can shop together"! It felt so great to see the look on her face! I love my band!

    NSV's for the Merry Losers

Good going Chris. I thought I was the only one that had to go shopping in my own closet for new clothes. I have been doing that since the beginning - rediscovering old clothes from up to 15 years ago. That's pants mainly. Drum roll, please. My NSV occurred last week. I fit in the airplane coach seat and the seat belt fit with room to spare. No more seat belt extenders for me. Yeahhhhhhhhhhhh. I have been using one for almost 10 years. I was and am still so excited. I have been gaining and losing the same two pounds for 3 weeks now but I do notice that the inches are melting off anyway. I get my fill at the end of next week which will be 8 weeks out.

    NSV (Non Scale Victories)

On Wednesday it will be one month since my surgery and I feel great!!! My NSV is that I can fit into 3 different pairs of jeans I had saved that I haven't been able to fit into in over 9 months! YAYA!! P.S And... there even starting to get loose now!
  23. Back from the funeral and finishing up my 2nd liter of water for the day. Got lots and lots of compliments today about the weight loss. And the best NSV was one lady saying those words I haven't heard in years and years and years.... "you're not going to lose much more weight, are you???" Never thought I'd hear those words, but it sure felt good. Yep, I said. got 23# to go to my first goal. Another lady said.. "I have two things to ask you. #1, will you be in Menopause the Musical if I get the rights for it and #2, tell me about lap band cause I really need something" Soooooooooooooo I just might be in a local production of Menopause the Musical. That's what I get for singing in public! And I invited her to the support group's next meeting Feb. 9. Funeral service went well. Reception afterwards was cookies, fruit, cheese and meat. I had some fruit and a couple cubes of cheese. I had to keep pushing the Bobster away from the lemon bars as he was telling me that lemon was a fruit so he could eat as many as he wanted. arghhhhhhhhh Tonight he has Bible study and I have to sit down at my keyboard and really work on some trouble spots in a couple of the songs my acapella group is getting ready for our concert in March. Tomorrow is hospital volunteer shift and rehearsal in the evening. Daughter Kris is coming over to spend the night and we'll do our Curves workout. Got to go check on dinner. chicken enchiladas from Schwans. Yums. TTFN....

    September Bandsters

So much for doing fine. I was going to try to not watch my carbs as strictly over the weekend and just eat "sensibly". Which started off alright. I even had what I thought was the most fantastic NSV of my life when on Friday my husband announced I no longer needed to lose any weight. I was flabbergasted to say the least! It was the first time since I ever knew him that he didn't think I needed to diet, and only the second person (besides my mother that is) to have ever told me that. And that was over 20 years ago! You would think I'd be over the moon, and I was all that night. I kept thinking how happy his comments had made me and how much weight seemed to be lifted off my shoulders to know that from now on any weight I continued to lose was truly being lost just for me and not for him or anyone else. But ofcourse it didn't last. The very next day he was all over my case about something I was eating that he thought I shouldn't be able to eat with the band saying he thought it showed I needed another fill. And to make matters worse he added that it disturbed him that I had "read so much" into his one innocent comment about my not needing to lose any more weight. It made me feel like he was having second thoughts about having ever said it. I don't know if it was because he was afraid I would take it as an excuse to stop watching what I ate and start gaining again or if he hadn't really meant it when he said it but I don't think he could have said anything more hurtful to me after having made me so happy. Then just to fullfill the prophecy I had to turn around and eat 2 slices of cherry pie that he bought at the grocery store, a king size candy bar and a snickers ice cream bar to boot. And if I get a chance I'm still of the mood to go out and get a chocolate frozen custard with chocolate chip cookie dough mixed in. All behind his back ofcourse and now I've gained half of what I lost back and am so disappointed in myself. Why do I let him get to me like this?

    I need some encouragement

Maybe you should have gone for gastric bypass if you wanted immediate results. The band is a much slower process. That being said, 14 pounds in 17 days is pretty amazing! Don't be so hard on yourself. It took more than a month to put those pounds on and it's going to take more than a month to get them off. Be patient. One good motivator for me was to take measurements. Sometimes, even when the scale didn't move, I had lost an inch or more! Celebrate the NSVs, like getting off meds, exercising more, being able to fit it something you haven't worn in a while, etc. Hang in there-you are doing great!
