    moody as ***...

The clear liquid diet for the first week post op really did a number on my emotions and mood. Once I hit full liquids yesterday, it's like I'm a whole new person. For me, each day gets a bit better. I think you are just in the toughest part of it right now but it really should get better soon.
  2. I know this is always a point of interest for people, so here is a little more data to add to your collection. This is my actual weekly weight loss with an average of 3.3 lbs per week since the day of surgery: Highest weight (July 2013) = 283 1st day Pre-op Diet (Jan 22nd 2014) = 270 (-13) Day of Surgery (Feb 4th 2014) = 254.5 (-15.5) Post Op Data by Week: Week 1 = 244.4 (-10.1) Week 2 = 244.4 (-0.0) Week 3 = 244.4 (-0.0) Week 4 = 241.2 (-3.2) MO 1 = -13.3 Week 5 = 238.2 (-3.0) Week 6 = 235.0 (-3.2) Week 7 = 232.2 (-2.8) Week 8 = 229.9 (-2.3) MO 2 = -11.3 Week 9 = 227.2 (-2.7) Week 10 = 221.8 (-5.4) Week 11 = 220.2 (-1.6) Week 12 = 214.8 (-5.4) MO 3 = -15.1 So there you have it, it really does add up over time, even with some frustrating stall weeks. Keep on plugging, everybody!
  3. Thanks for sharing! I too lost 11lbs the first week then nothing in week 2. I was so bummed. I'm almost 3 weeks but trying to weigh only once a week. Congratulations on your progress!

    anyone take abilify?

My son was misdiagnosed at the age of 11 as bi-polar by a quack pyschiatrist and prescribed Abilify. It made a very skinny little boy balloon up to 3 times his size in 5 months! I took him to another psychiastrist who completely detoxed him off all meds and rediagnosed him to his original diagnosis of ADHD. After stopping Abilify the weight just melted off within 3 months. He is now 15 and too skinny but eats enough to feed a small family.
  5. I agree, my port area was the last to heal. Every time I moved or coughed it pull on the stitches I think. So unless it looks infected it's normal to be sore for a few weeks. Mine took about 6-7 weeks before I didn't really feel it anymore.

    Help:-(

I'm 5 weeks post op and I can't eat for the past 2 days. I'm feeling sick to my stomach. I think it's acid, I've been taking prolsec but its not helping. Any suggestions....
  7. I was the same way but I am 3 weeks post op tomorrow and I am drinking my water just fine. I too like really cold water and pre op I drank water like it was nothing. So I think if you are a regular water drinker you will not have many problems after about 2 weeks post op

  11. Well over the past 2-3 days I've developed a "pain" on the right side of my abdomen. It feels like a pulling pain. I don't feel it when sitting, but when I stand up and move it is there. I can eat and drink like normal. I did run two 5k's last weekend and I'm hoping it is stemming from that. Anyone experience something similar?
  12. I love the chilled fruit soups that most cruises offer! At 3 weeks I was on my way to recovery - I felt ok but tired. I think you will be fine but I maybe would order rooms service and try to stay aways from the buffet an restaurants. It would be lovely to recover lounging on the deck of a cruise ship. Just be sure to bring your protein powder with you.
  13. I've always been awful with meal planning. I don't get my surgery date until May 30th when I meet with my surgeon but I'm trying to get a jump on it. Is there anyone that is willing to give me examples of what they eat in a typical day/week. Anyone that is willing to give me some pointers would be great. I'm also looking for meals that would also be baby friendly. My son will be around 1yr old by the time I have surgery and will be fully on solids and I really don't want to have to make 2 different meals 3x a day, 7 days a week. I know there is a food forum but I'm not really finding what I need there. As added incentive I'll add a picture of my cute little man, you can't help but love his face. .
  14. Something new started for me about a week ago. Whenever I drink Or eat anything, after I swallow about 15-30 seconds later I get a cramping feeling under my lower left rib. It feels to me like the food or drink sits at the top of my stomach and as it dribbles into the stomach, the cramping eases. It is very uncomfortable. It has gotten worse as the week has gone by. I plan to call dr today, but wondered if anyone else has had this experience.
  15. I had no restrictions on stairs (I live on 2nd story). Restriction with driving only secondary to pain meds and my comfort level (about a week). 10 pound Lift restriction for 8 weeks, I think.

    To tell or not tell

There's been quite a bit of dicussion about telling or not telling the world that we are thinking about or had the lab band procedure. I have to say that I am torn about this. I have told my spouse (very supportive as you can read in a previous entry), my daughters (not so supportive), my son (doesn't feel I need it but "whatever you think is right mom) my mom (that's a lot of money that could be spent on a really fun trip) and two people at work (one really positive one with a funny look) My husband says we should shout it from the mountain tops then everyone can be supportive and cheer you on. I am more reserved because I've failed before. I think in the end, we neeed to ignore the rest of the world and decide what is best for us. Not the family, not the hubby, not the kids not everyone else. Perhaps the key is are we trying to "cheat" and think this will be a magic bullet or are we addressing health issues and improving our quality of life? If it's the latter, would we question exercising, taking a necesary medication or going to a physician? I believe lab band should be no different. The difference is that people don't ask about doctor appointments, the medicine we are taking or our exercise regiman. When we start showing weight loss, people will not hesitate to dwell, question or badger. My plan is to take the two weeks off that I am on the liquid diet and at least 2 weeks off after my surgery. Knowing myself, I know that I will have trouble when it will be so obvious that I am having to eat (or drink) differently. I hope this will help me get off to a more positive (and personal) start. On the plus side, I managed to exercise 4 out of 7 days this week. Nothing too taxing, but really trying to start getting into better habits.

  20. Do a cleanse with mag 7, ballerina tea, or any other cleanse you like to use that should shed at least 5 or more pounds. Then I did about 500 -1000 calories a day (fresh smoothies help) and did hitt cardio wrapped up for 5 of the days. Also water fasted the last day and a half. This helped me drop 14 in a little less than 2 weeks
