    A FEW POUNDS BACK ON

I don't know if it was normal but the day after surgery I put on 5lbs and was not even hardly eating. It just happens. Within a couple of weeks it came back off. Do what your suppose to and stay with your plan. The rest will work itself out. Right now your job is to heal from the surgery, concentrate on that more than anything. Good luck! Colleen

    Holy Freaking PAIN!!!

Being 4 days post op I can tell you its going to be a rough few days until you hit about 4-5th day in. I finally am feeling better on day 4, cant wait for day 5 and forward. Seeing that this is my first surgery I was freaking out a bit, never felt such pain as I have the last few days, however my meds (tylenol codeine) was doing a pretty good job. Even with that said, sore everywhere, couldnt sleep, everything hurts, bruises, etc. Also make sure to get in your water, protein liquids they help immensely. Walking too will help with the gasses. Abdominal binder is a god send, thats a definite must have. This is the one I have, I wear it to sleep also. Even though I couldnt sleep until the 4th day really. It's a huge help wearing it and propping yourself up, elevating. https://www.amazon.com/BraceAbility-Bariatric-Abdominal-Compression-Circumference/dp/B00QLYZ1DK/ref=sr_1_3_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1533334829&sr=8-3&keywords=braceability+3x
  3. So anyone out there who is suffering from I think acid indigestion? I am 3 weeks post op and it just started this week (well maybe got worse) - I am waking up with what I think is acid indigestion/gerd? I can't eat breakfast nor want to drink anything. It takes a good few hours to get better after I wake up. It's a horrible feeling. I am taking my meds still and Mylanta everyday. I take it in the morning as well but it doesn't help for few hours atleast. What is this? Anyone else have this issue? Any remedy/suggestions to make this go away?
  4. Hi y'all! I am 3 weeks post op for gastric sleeve. I can't handle swallowing anything other than Soup, Jello or pudding. I'm trying to introduce soft mushy foods, but everything seems to get stuck going down. I have tried oatmeal that had been watered down, thin grits and tuna fish salad. I'm not sure what to do and the idea of liquids forever is freaking me out! Has anyone else experienced this problem? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. I am in a bit of a quandry and would love some insight from those of you who have already had your surgery. Here's my situation... I am currently pre-op, surgery will likely be scheduled for late March/early April. I have been contemplating surgery for years and finally made a decision and I feel really good about it. Work has been awful lately. I'm bored with what I'm doing, I have a frustrating boss, etc. So the surgery (and the subsequent FML) was coming at a great time to get a little break from the monotony. This week, however, a promotional opportunity presented itself. A very exciting opportunity that would boost my career in all the right directions. The one catch is that I can't do both right now. If I go for the job opportunity, I have to postpone the surgery probably 6 months. i'm really struggling because I am at a point where I want to take care of ME and move forward with the surgery. But this job opportunity is just the thing I've been waiting for and I've got a decent chance at it. I wanted to throw this out to this community to see what your thoughts are. For those of you have already have had the surgery, knowing what you know now, what would you have done? Thanks for any insight you can provide.

    Glorious Food!

I'm just 6 weeks post-op, but things that are too sweet I cannot tolerate.

    Aqua Zumba

Well I've done the Class twice now, with the go-ahead from the doctors office. It was fun until I realized how full my bladder was! Lol. The instructor is great and makes it lots of fun and I don't feel like I'm exercising!! But I'm sad that it will end in a few weeks! All the local gyms that offer aqua zumba classes only offer them during the day when I'm at work. I have a heated pool in my backyard so maybe I can learn the moves and keep it up once I go back to work. Dang I'm not ready to go back!!
  8. Just wondering what work best for you? I'm swimming laps and also am walking/jogging six days a week for at least 60 minutes. What do you think worked best to tone your legs???

    Aqua Zumba

I don't think 4 weeks is to soon, my Dr said that 4 weeks was good to go. I was 5 weeks post op last week before I did the class, but I have been doing cardio and walking alot. So give a try I think you will like it. GOOD LUCK!

    Working Out Ti Much?

I personally think its up to the individual. If it feels good go for it. I also have an elliptical and treadmill. I alternate Zumba, treadmill, and elliptical 4 days per week. I have to stop myself from working out and some weeks do 5 days. I usually get in 60-80 minutes of working out. I am afraid of transfer of addiction. I also have two children, husband and graduate school and am striving for balance. I don't want to get lost in a vicious cycle of exercising all out and then stopping from being exhausted. Then comes the guilt and shame. Unfortunately, I have done this time and time again pre surgery and the weight always came back. In my crazy mind if I overdue it, the same thing will happen and failure is not an option.

    Cardio or weights?

I would try to change up the cardio routine a it if you've hit a Plateau and add some weights a couple times a week. It's amazing how doing something different can help our body start to let go of the weight again.

    moody as ***...

The clear liquid diet for the first week post op really did a number on my emotions and mood. Once I hit full liquids yesterday, it's like I'm a whole new person. For me, each day gets a bit better. I think you are just in the toughest part of it right now but it really should get better soon.
  13. I know this is always a point of interest for people, so here is a little more data to add to your collection. This is my actual weekly weight loss with an average of 3.3 lbs per week since the day of surgery: Highest weight (July 2013) = 283 1st day Pre-op Diet (Jan 22nd 2014) = 270 (-13) Day of Surgery (Feb 4th 2014) = 254.5 (-15.5) Post Op Data by Week: Week 1 = 244.4 (-10.1) Week 2 = 244.4 (-0.0) Week 3 = 244.4 (-0.0) Week 4 = 241.2 (-3.2) MO 1 = -13.3 Week 5 = 238.2 (-3.0) Week 6 = 235.0 (-3.2) Week 7 = 232.2 (-2.8) Week 8 = 229.9 (-2.3) MO 2 = -11.3 Week 9 = 227.2 (-2.7) Week 10 = 221.8 (-5.4) Week 11 = 220.2 (-1.6) Week 12 = 214.8 (-5.4) MO 3 = -15.1 So there you have it, it really does add up over time, even with some frustrating stall weeks. Keep on plugging, everybody!
  14. Thanks for sharing! I too lost 11lbs the first week then nothing in week 2. I was so bummed. I'm almost 3 weeks but trying to weigh only once a week. Congratulations on your progress!

    anyone take abilify?

My son was misdiagnosed at the age of 11 as bi-polar by a quack pyschiatrist and prescribed Abilify. It made a very skinny little boy balloon up to 3 times his size in 5 months! I took him to another psychiastrist who completely detoxed him off all meds and rediagnosed him to his original diagnosis of ADHD. After stopping Abilify the weight just melted off within 3 months. He is now 15 and too skinny but eats enough to feed a small family.
  16. I agree, my port area was the last to heal. Every time I moved or coughed it pull on the stitches I think. So unless it looks infected it's normal to be sore for a few weeks. Mine took about 6-7 weeks before I didn't really feel it anymore.

    Help:-(

I'm 5 weeks post op and I can't eat for the past 2 days. I'm feeling sick to my stomach. I think it's acid, I've been taking prolsec but its not helping. Any suggestions....
  18. I was the same way but I am 3 weeks post op tomorrow and I am drinking my water just fine. I too like really cold water and pre op I drank water like it was nothing. So I think if you are a regular water drinker you will not have many problems after about 2 weeks post op

  22. Well over the past 2-3 days I've developed a "pain" on the right side of my abdomen. It feels like a pulling pain. I don't feel it when sitting, but when I stand up and move it is there. I can eat and drink like normal. I did run two 5k's last weekend and I'm hoping it is stemming from that. Anyone experience something similar?
  23. I love the chilled fruit soups that most cruises offer! At 3 weeks I was on my way to recovery - I felt ok but tired. I think you will be fine but I maybe would order rooms service and try to stay aways from the buffet an restaurants. It would be lovely to recover lounging on the deck of a cruise ship. Just be sure to bring your protein powder with you.
  24. I've always been awful with meal planning. I don't get my surgery date until May 30th when I meet with my surgeon but I'm trying to get a jump on it. Is there anyone that is willing to give me examples of what they eat in a typical day/week. Anyone that is willing to give me some pointers would be great. I'm also looking for meals that would also be baby friendly. My son will be around 1yr old by the time I have surgery and will be fully on solids and I really don't want to have to make 2 different meals 3x a day, 7 days a week. I know there is a food forum but I'm not really finding what I need there. As added incentive I'll add a picture of my cute little man, you can't help but love his face. .
  25. Something new started for me about a week ago. Whenever I drink Or eat anything, after I swallow about 15-30 seconds later I get a cramping feeling under my lower left rib. It feels to me like the food or drink sits at the top of my stomach and as it dribbles into the stomach, the cramping eases. It is very uncomfortable. It has gotten worse as the week has gone by. I plan to call dr today, but wondered if anyone else has had this experience.
