    Leg soreness?

I noticed right after surgery that my legs were super sore on even on short walks. Now, I wasn't exactly a marathon runner before surgery, but I also wasn't completely sedentary so it was really strange! It stopped after a few weeks. Not sure if that helps, but I wouldn't worry much since it is also achy soreness. I think surgery just takes a lot out of your body in ways you don't expect.

    Leg soreness?

Hey, y’all! I’d been walking (more or less) 5 minutes every hour since surgery on 4/20. Yesterday I was busy with work, so I didn’t quite make it hourly. However, I did increase my time in the walks that I did take; 10 minutes up the ramp of my parking garage to the top floor (one floor up.) So today my legs feel really sore and tired. No fever, no hot spots, just aches. Taking my daily blood thinner shots on top of the movement. Should I be worried?! Would anyone recommend compression socks? Other relief? I made the stupid decision to rewatch Dr. Death this week, so now I’m super paranoid about clots and pulmonary embolisms lol

    Thinking of backing out

My anxiety and depression are actually better post WLS (sleeve) 3 years ago. I've never heard of them worsening due to WLS. I take two daily medications for depression and anxiety (as I did before WLS) and it's all good.

    February 2022 Surgery Buddies

Thank god someone finally said this!! I can eat about 3 oz of chicken and 1 c of salad in one meal with no problems or feeling of fullness. And the hunger pangs! Omg they’re awful!! I’ve been in a stall since beginning of April. Finally lost 2 lbs this week.
  5. I'm reading that some people can only eat 3-4 bites! Thats wonderful. Sometimes I wonder, is this working for me, I can eat more than that. I'm trying to reassess and slow it down more and get in touch with my full factor. I can drink a full 8 oz of water without any problem. I still deal with hunger pains, but they are better than normal, some days I'm only eating 800 calories a day, I've noticed if I don't feel hunger pains at least a little, I'm not losing.

    Pre-op

Same with mine. We knew up front that there was a liquid diet requirement. The closer it got we had to see the dietician and we received what those requirements for the liquid diet were. I think mine was discussed 3 times as well

My hell week starts tomorrow (April 26th)

made protein pudding and having a bit with my soup as if it’s a meal for dinner… Red pepper tomato soup and chocolate/vanilla protein pudding tonight. I was told to try 3 days at a time then switch combinations. Thankfully I found this. Y’all are so positive and uplifting

    how long before a #2

It took me a week and I'm almost 3 months out and still have issues with it. The more water the better. Walking is really important too to get things moving. Sent from my SM-G975U using BariatricPal mobile app
  9. Hi there totally new here and just looking for peoples experience, I am post op 10 days post gastric bypass, just wondering if I am eating too much or too little, just scared I am messing thing up ; so currently I am eating around 4- 5 yoghurts a day and around 2-3 cups of coffee with almond milk and 2 soups a day. All the yogurts are low sugar and low fat ie when I look at the calories for everything except my soups I get around 600-700 calories a day this is without counting the soups as they are home made with carrots, chicken etc. Pre surgery I was 131 kg - 288.8 pounds , and day of surgery I was 124 kg - 273.4 pounds and now I am 117 kg - 257.9 pounds (10 days post op). (I am 184 cm height - 6.03 feet) I have not eaten any additional protein as I getting that with the soups , and will call my dietician for follow up to make sure I am doing things right, and also I feel hungry a lot however I think its just because I am dead bored with the food, not sure if this is normal or not. Looking forward to hear other peoples experience. Many thanks
  10. Hi, Brand new to the forum. After a two year journey stalled by covid, a new job and a move across the country, I finally have a surgery date and am now considering canceling. I’ve stuggled with anxiety disorder since my early 20’s - am 54 now -have done lots of therapy but the thought of panic attacks can still bring me to my knees. I take celexa daily. I’m just now-this late into all my research learning that wls can trigger more anxiety and depression. does anyone know why (beyond the obvious food mourning). am wondering if I can proceed. just started day 1 of liquid diet. thank you to anyone who responds
  11. Awesome, congrats! That's always a good feeling. I'm almost 3 months out from gastric bypass and have been going on trips. I honestly like it because its a break from the scale obsession and I always lose weight because I'm more active anyway while traveling. Sent from my SM-G975U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Swimming post op

I was also told it was OK once the scabs were all off my incisions. That was at about four weeks out for me.

    Food ideas

I will definitely be purchasing some myself. I’m just such a picky eater I’d probably only like 3 meals from a 50 page cookbook.
  15. Here is how I handled it. 1. If they don't ask what you did, don't tell them. If someone says I look great, I just say, "Thank you. That is very kind." 2. While I did not announce my WLS, if someone directly asks what I did and I am reasonably sure they would be supportive, I tell them. I might be the only person they know who has had WLS and I want them to see someone succeeding so maybe they will be supportive of the next person they meet who has had WLS or is considering it. 3. If someone directly asks and I doubt whether they will be supportive, I would just say, "Oh, I'm eating right and exercising." Which is true. 4. If someone found out I had WLS and accused me of taking the easy way out, I would very blandly reply, "Isn't the most important thing that I find a way out?"
  16. Wow! I’m glad I’m not alone either! Everything is going okay. I was really bummed about the stall but after reading it happens to so many people I have come to terms with it. It’s so hard for me to get 64oz in everyday especially since I wasn’t a huge water drinker before hand. How are you doing with everything? I hope all is well with you too!
  17. A few things: 1. Yep, it's hell week. I tell people that the week before surgery was way worse than what came after. So if you get through this, you will be able to make it. 2. The first 3 days will be the worst (at least until you are in the laxative stage 24 hrs prior to surgery; I was so miserable on that day). Your body will adjust to liquids only after 48-72 hours. 3. The way to endure through those 3 days is to constantly be having liquids. Drink protein shakes until you feel full; if it takes 3 shakes in a row, drink 3 shakes in a row. Eat a whole box of sugar-free popsicles. Eat as much sugar free Jello as you want (assuming that is allowed on your surgeon's plan). Whatever you are allowed to have, drink it without guilt or regret. After your body adjusts, you probably won't feel the desire to gorge, but drown your stomach in liquids until that happens.

My hell week starts tomorrow (April 26th)

Thank you so much, everyone. I know I sound like a whiny child, but not eating (when my issue is eating too much) is really hard. I had my morning protein shake and now I'm drinking a protein water. I'm having a protein smoothie for lunch and then another protein water later on. For dinner I'm having beef broth with beef Better Than Bouillon soup base. Then I'm having a sugar free popsicle for dessert and 1 more protein water before bed. I REALLY hope keeping to this kind of eating schedule will make this week bearable.

My doctor said 3 weeks as well as long as everything has healed nicely.
  20. Hello everyone, It's my 1st time on here I'm super excited but super nervous I have my gastric sleeve scheduled for next week. I'm currently following the 10 day diet. Or clear liquid next week Sent from my SM-G988U using BariatricPal mobile app

My hell week starts tomorrow (April 26th)

You can do it! I had two weeks on my pre op diet. Some things that helped: get different flavor shakes you like. Blend them with ice so you feel like you're having milkshakes. Stock up on sugar free jello and popsicles. I also sucked on sugar free jolly ranchers when I wanted to put something in my mouth. If you're allowed a small protein meal a day, eat it really slowly. When I got sick of the sweet stuff I made vegetable broth with chopped raw scallions in it. It goes by so fast and if you just have a week, you'll be done in no time! Airplane anxiety, just venting

I am flying to my surgery in a few weeks and the thought of asking the flight attendant for a seatbelt extender is MORTIFYING. So I bought one from Amazon and I will discreetly click it into place when I sit down. I also got an aisle seat so I can kind of lean into the aisle and not squish the stranger beside me.
  23. I have PCOS and I had my sleeve surgery on the same day as you. I also think I hit a stall, but everyone says you start to lose weight again after a couple of weeks. I’ve also been struggling with water intake but it’s slowly getting better. Glad I’m not alone, and I hope everything is going ok with you.

    May 2022 surgery?

My bypass surgery date is May 18 and I just started day 1 of my 3-week liquid diet today. For whatever reason, my surgeon decided to torture me with an extra week of the preop diet. I am paying privately because the wait time for bypass surgery in my area is 5-7 years. There are also no private clinics available here. So I am flying to Montreal from Vancouver, Canada which is a 5-hour flight. I am not nervous about the surgery but I am nervous about fitting in my plane seat (I bought a seatbelt extender just in case). I am also nervous about blood clots so I have planned to get up from my seat every 30 minutes and stroll the aisles. I am also anxious about getting covid before my surgery. I will get tested 2 days before my surgery and if it's positive my surgery will be postponed for 3 months, which would be a total nightmare. So, I decided to quarantine for the 3 weeks before surgery and literally never leave my house for any reason. That has also been a bit stressful, but I know it will all be worth it in the end. Best of luck to everyone! I am so glad we are all on this journey together.

    weight gain after surgery

It's like we are twins...For the past 5 days I have gained and lost the same 0.5 lbs. I had surgery on March 3rd and have lost a total of 37 lbs (12 lbs during pre op diet and 25 lbs since surgery). It is very frustrating but I figure I am in another stall (I had one about 2.5 weeks post op that lasted for about 6 days then I started losing again). Keep following the plan...we will get through this!
