I will always recommend the Genepro brand of protein - it's flavorless, and I literally don't even notice it when I add it in with my Crystal Light. Super easy way to get in that protein!

I wanted to share with you, i have been having issues with getting protein in. SO i was suggested to try GENEPRO which is not only flavorless it is actually TASTELESS. You add only 1 Tablespoon and get 30 grams protein and it has no taste. I actually love this stuff. Mix it in tea, coffee, chocolate milk and you wont taste it. It was definitely worth the money and AMAZING. just thought i would share with you all!

Oddball here - dislike Premiere - Thoughts?

Before my surgery I liked the vanilla & strawberry Premier Protein shakes, so I bought a bunch of it for after surgery. After my surgery, I couldn't stand the taste. So I had to returned it. I like flavorless GENEPRO & I add it to SF hot coco or herbal tea. -

Why are all "diet" supplements marketed like candy?

I have got to the point that all I use is GENEPRO Protein powder. Unflavored of course!!! I LOVE my coffee so this just works for me!! I make myself a cup of expresso in my Keurig pot, add some sweet creamer and some FF Half/Half. Like I said it is a WIN WIN for me!! 30 grams of protein and I get to have my coffee too. -

@summerset@Bufflehead I'm not going to get into a battle about GENEPRO, they do refine the Protein to some degree through electophoresis but I count a scoop as 20g vs 30g of protein. The bottom line for me is that I can't detect it in my food...that's not been the case for the other 10 protein powders I've tried, so I use the Genepro. -

We all learn these things one way or another. I thought Genepro was a genius find. Thankfully I was on this forum and was straightened out by one of the vets. -
An easy way to get your protein in is to use Genepro protein powder. 30gm per tbsp! Tasteless and mixes with hot or cold. I buy mine on Amazon.

I avoid artificial sweeteners. I do get my protein in with Genepro in my coffee and with eggs, chicken, etc. Sent from my SM-N920V using BariatricPal mobile app

Why are all "diet" supplements marketed like candy?
Bufflehead replied to Didjit's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
@@summerset there is a fair amount of controversy about whether Genepro can back up their claims. For example, they claim to get 30 grams of protein out of a tablespoon of powder -- but a tablespoon of powder weighs about 15 grams. A gram is a unit of weight. In this universe, with our laws of physics, it isn't possible to get 30 grams of protein from 15 grams of anything, -
Protein, which one you guys use? I am 2 months out and 30lbs down.

I have been liking the Genepro flavorless, it works well mixing it with stuff like chili or in my crystal light, it gives it just a slight taste and white color, but not bad at all. Much better than shakes, I can't stomach any more of those. I've tried the Isopure bottles and the flavors are pretty gross, to me...almost a medicinal taste. -

You don't have to do Protein powder as a shake. If the volume of liquid is a problem, start making it like a "pudding" consistency so it takes up less room. Get some of the flavorless GENEPRO protein that is 30g in a one TBSP size. You can mix it with a ton of things. There ARE ways to get the protein and I strongly recommend getting as much as you possibly can while you're healing, because it speeds recovery immensely. Not to mention helping you retain muscle mass so you can keep burning fat more efficiently. -

I didn't know how much it was. I'm guessing my NUT doesn't know either since she got it for free. But everybody had great thing to say about Genepro so maybe I'll try that one. She recommended Unjury but I've not heard good things about the taste.

I am totally not a scientific type person, so can someone use small words to explain to me how GENEPRO works? How is it possible to get 30 grams of Protein from a tablespoon, when a tablespoon only contains 15 grams?

I virtually live on GENEPRO and Quest bars. I find it best to add it to things that are not too hot. I know some Protein powders explicitly state on the label they can't be used at 140 degrees or higher. I don't believe Genepro has that warning but it works better if the liquid isn't too hot and you add it very slowly, stirring as you add and allowing it to disolve. I use Genepro and Quest bars because they are so darned convenient for me. Fast food for WLS I guess you could say. Congratulations on your surgery. Blessings, Kathleen

I use the GENEPRO every morning in my hot decaf tea. I put a scoop in my cup add a little bit of the hot tea, stir it really good then add the rest of the tea, my creamer and splenda. I add it to 32oz of liquid. This way I am getting in my Protein and half my liquid for the day.

Help with protein powder choices?

GENEPRO from GNC is the best!!! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
I bought a big bag of GenePro and I don’t like it. Even though it’s unflavored, it still has a taste, and it’s unpleasant. It’s useful for mixing into purées like refried beans and mashed cauliflower that cover the taste well enough. I mixed it into broth when I was on clear liquids, and I could only add a little bit or it would taste too bad. I never tried it with plain water, but based on how it tasted in broth, I wouldn’t want to. I did see someone on YouTube making a protein shot with it (mixing it into a small amount of water and drinking it quickly), but I don’t think I could stand to drink that. Rather than mixing GenePro into flavored drinks, I would recommend getting clear protein drinks. Protein2O is popular. I bought a case of it and I didn’t like it, but I suspect I might have gotten a bad batch or something because every time I drank it, I got solids (the texture of cooked egg whites) precipitating out in my mouth. Premier Protein makes a ready-to-drink clear protein but I haven’t been able to find it where I shop. There are also some clear protein powders on the market, like Syntrax Nectar. I bought some bone broth, but I didn’t care for it much. I ended up preferring broth made from Better than Bouillon (which I already had in my fridge since I use it for recipes). I was able to mix a little GenePro in it without it having too bad of a taste. One of my favorite protein drinks is protein hot chocolate. I got it in the BariatricPal store and it was really good. I mix it with warm Fairlife milk for a nice protein boost, I bought a big canister of it on Amazon, but that’s not as good as what I got from BariatricPal. I’ve found that warm liquids go down easier than cold, and the hot chocolate is a nice change of pace from cold protein shakes.
