    Memory and obesity?

Don't worry, you will forget this post soon :thumbup1: I tend to believe the resolution of the sleep apnea will improve your mental sharpness far more than hunger hormone could affect it. I'm sure there are plenty of well fed scholars that could agree. Also do a search on medical studies on how exercise effects memory. If I can get down to a "running weight" again I may enjoy some of those benefits as well!

    Broke Up W Fiancee. Ugh

I'm sorry to see your relationship end but I do think it was for the best. If he wasn't willing to match your efforts now it would be the same even living in the same home! And that's worst! What if you guys had kids? And yet again no matched effort... Then you would really be fed up! You deserve some one who wants to go above as beyond to be with you!! Not expect you to go above and beyond to be with him... Sent from my iPhone using VST
  3. Day 4 pre op Went out last night to my sister's birthday party and packed my protein shake, crystal light, and made my cream of mushroom. I ate my soup quietly and the only ppl that noticed were my table mates. My bff and immediate family already knows amd when I told my cousin I was on a liquid diet she left it at that. I didn't want to bring attention to myself at my sister's big day and everything worked out, my family and true friends are very understanding bc they have seen me go from the skinniest to the heaviest sister in almost 20 yrs. The food I brought was enough to last me the entire party. However I went to bed with a tickle in my throat and woke with a tingle in my sinus. Really hoping it's not a cold. I will be drinking a lot of tea today. My youngest woke with a runny nise and he's my allergy kid so it might just be allergies (hope.) Sent from my SM-G930T using BariatricPal mobile app

Day 8 Post Op . . . The Thrill Is Gone

that's great, keep up the good work,. had my surgery on 9/19/12 and ever since then I've been up and down with energy, was having sleep problems but that is getting better (thank god). Feeling hungry though, hopefully it's only PMS bc i should be getting my period in a week or before :-(

    Realize vs. Inamed

As you've mentioned before, we can all be very successful and healthy with either band as long as we follow the rules. Even the old LapBands aren't necessarily dangerous. I think we all agree that marketing is highly influential today and everything isn't always exactly what it seems. And all companies have their share of BS when it comes to marketing. Thankfully there are laws that can cause companies to have huge lawsuits/fines if their advertising is proven to be false or misleading. So get the best surgeon you can and trust his judgment.

I have wrote on here before about my marriage issues. I don't know where else to turn bc my friends and family want me to leave my husband A little background information, We are high school sweethearts that got reunited after my first marriage. He was the one that got away. But during that time he got addicted to marijuana. I always dabbled too, but it was more social for me. After a while, I started smoking 3, 4 times a day. My weight started going up and up. Finally I got it under control, but hubby has not My kids are now smelling it, it's causing major fights between us. Financially it's killing us too. My husband has left countless jobs, wrecked numerous cars and has a family history of alcohol ism and I see him going down that path too We fight constantly bc I keep trying to control everything, which then leads me exhausted mentally with my children. I feel my 11 year old gets the brunt of my lack of patience. I work 40 to 65 hours a week. I cook, clean, run all the errands while my husband sits back and does bare minimum. He is finally working in an amazing job, but surprise surprise he hates that too. He plans on leaving in a year when he gets called for another job. However, this job drugs tests. When I write this all out, I feel like the answer is to leave. Well have him leave. We have been going to therapy for over 4 years and he has made very little change. I don't know what to do. I feel so good about myself. I lost over 120lbs. I got my plastics too. Everything is great but my marriage. I gave him an ultimatum It's us or the drugs. But if it's not the pot then it will be alcohol. I just need help from other married folks. Should I get divorced again, should I try to make this work. I do love him but not all the drama he brings to the table. Thank u for letting me vent

Help! plication with or without band?

Hi thanks for the response. First thing is the price. It will be an additional $6000 too add the band to the plication. The second thing is the regurgitation. The people I know with band have to leave the dinner table bc of stuck food and that makes me uncomfortable

    Medical Diet Boo Hoo

I know I'm struggling Its never been this hard to loose 10 lbs in my life. I'm 3 month in and I have only lost maybe 7 lbs bc the first month i gained bc I gave up pop cold turkey. I would drink about 2 2liters a day. But its finally time to get really seriouse. BTW How did you guys put your picture in your profile?
  9. I'm working out and killing myself in the gym and the scale is not moving. I know I shouldn't weigh myself every day and I wasn't for a while. I had made peace with the scale and wasn't going on it at all, then I got a new scale for my bridal shower and it's been down-hill since. I went for a fitting and my dress looks great, the fat bulge on my back is almost gone because I've been working out so much, but the scale isn't budging! I tried eating more calories, less calories, more weights, more cardio, still nothing. Going on a month now with a 1 lb gain/loss depending on the day. I had my surgery 5/31 and am down 31 lbs. Why does the scale make us so crazy! (Not all of us, obv, but a lot of us!) Someone share some pearls of wisdom please! Thanks!

How much have u lost so far I stop at 18 de say on there scale but mine said 24lbs I would like to think I paid more for them little lbs I’m ab to go back to liquid diet. Bc stage 3 ain’t my friend. But wait u said u doing junk food aren’t u on Puree stage?
  12. I didn't get weighed on the day of surgery--I did weigh myself and they asked me in pre-op what my weight was that day and I told them. You definitely want to be accurate there bc of anesthesia, etc. At my first post-op appt our numbers (of weight lost since surgery) didn't jibe, and I realized it was bc they were using my pre-op weight, which was 2 weeks before surgery. I had lost about 5 or 6 lbs between my pre-op appt and the surgery.
  13. I changed jobs shortly after my wife had her surgery so we now have a different insurance company...BC/BS of Alabama. My wife tells me there have been a lot of horror stories on here about BC/BS. Does anyone have any info advice on getting approved with them? My boss had gastric bypass with them and I plan to talk with him more tomorrow about this.

    Does anyone regret this surgery?

Yes, I regret it. I had complications in surgery, had an excruciating blood clot, and was just scared. The surgeon was good and I'm in no pain now, but for me the weight loss is so slow that I don't feel it was worth the risk involved. I am also really tired and staying fed and hydrated requires constant vigilance. It's like caring for a newborn. That said, I read about a million threads here on regret, and you'll find the vast majority do not regret it. Among those who do regret it, some regret it due to pain or complications, some miss food from an emotional perspective, and some just don't like the results. You might find it works beautifully for you. It's hard, too, because these posts are a snapshot in time. I may feel very different at 1 year out than 3 weeks out.

What to do!? 1st day @gym in 3 yrs!

Thanks ppasjm for sharing your experience, that's exactly what I was looking for. I know there are plenty of people who have been working out (even if not consistently) before surgery and their experiences would be very different than mine. I'm definitely taking your and JohnLatte's lesson to heart. I'm going to plan in small 5 or 10 minute increments at a time. I'm going to push myself but not bc I want to reach a "time" limit, as I get in better shape I'll be able to push like that. The idea is I want to be sure I can return to the gym and go regularly so I'm going to avoid being too fervent my first few days out. Just gonna start to get the hang of things. After I go today I'll be sure to report back and let you guys know how I did! Thanks again.

14 days post op 6 wks Pregnant

Please keep us updated, our programme requires all woman of childbearing age to be on BC for 6 weeks before surgical date and they do check for the hormones if on pill etc and do blood and urine check before surgery. Hoping for a positive outcome lass!
  18. i presume you still have bc/bs....and there are surely other doctors you can go to in your area--call your provider and have them suggest another doctor in your area to take over...don't panic!! you WILL have success!!
  19. Stay away from strawberries raspberries or blackberry though bc they have too many seeds and you are NOT allowed to have seeds in soft phase. 1/2 a banana mixed in would give you a great potassium boost but no more than 1/2 per day with your protein bc they have a lot of carbs.
  20. Djbwilson... Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!! I have to admit I don't really have anyone at home cheering me on... Everyone is negative about it in one way or another! I think the issue at hand, and yes after reading and thinking, more reading and more thinking its simple.. I have an overwhelming desire to prove my mother wrong... Now for any of you to understand that statement it would take a LONG time to explain in full effect but basically in a but shell, my mom has never had faith in me, never pushed me to do well anything, always negative toward me... Now my other sibling, perfect in her eyes, I have offer wondered if it was bc they are almost 15 years older than me idk, our parents have been married 50 years, had a kid young and waited 15 years, mistake maybe? It's crossed my mind... But I do love her don't get me wrong... She has been so negative since I decided to actually do this, I really think she never believed I would actually do it!! I have to admit, I still want that goal of mine, maybe somehow I can lower my goal before July gets here but like I said before.. I'm stubborn I feel like I should be able to do this and meet that goal and I guess in part it's because I want to show my mom that I can do it! Then I start thinking about my kids and how badly I want to go to Disney world with them and actually walk all day long and not have to sit down ever little bit!! My dream is to be a Mom that my kids are proud of! I know they love me and they are proud of me but I don't want them to grow up and think of all the things their mom never did with them, I want them to think of all the awesome things they did with their mom!!! I was once able to loose 20-30 lbs in a month, I explained that in an earlier post, but after some bad times in my life I got to a point that I gave up and when I realized what had happened it was too late! I had become too fat to function!!
  21. Oh and btw sassygirl06 I was 340 last I had to check, I haven't gained that I know of bc I can still wear all the same clothes but I hate the scale!! I have read your post twice now, I love that you said you can run and play with your kids and they can wrap their arms around you, that's what I want more than anything!!!! Thank you again!!
  22. I have to be honest 7 lbs a month seems very minimal to me, back 10 years ago I could loose 20-30 lbs in a month, of course I had only had one child and now I have three and I was younger and not well fat like I am now.. I guess I was so encouraged by these few I had talked to I just never looked for other answers, I have been told by my family dr that this will be wonderful and I will loose weight at a very fast pace, maybe he to has only looked at what is right in front of him. When I started seeing post of being 6 months out and loosing 30-40 lbs I panicked because I have already paid my deposit and I am having this, part of me can still close my eyes and see the me I will be this time next year but yes I am still discouraged after coming to the realization that I may not be one of the 100 lbs gone in 6 months or less and it does really put a damper on my outlook I had... Maybe with ad much willpower as I think I have I won't have a problem at all loosing it quickly.. I feel like if I can get 80-100 lbs off really fast then the rest will fly off, simply because ill be able to walk, jog, run without having to sit down every few minutes! I have had test run bc I was worried something was wrong with me medically but they found nothing, besides a little arthritis starting to show in my knees.. I was a volleyball player from school to YMCA at 22 years old, I want that again, badly!!! I guess I need to put my BIG girl panties on and pull them nice and high and get my head out of the black clouds of discouragement!! It happens especially when your family is negative like mine!! Thank you all for your words..

    Venus freeze skin tightening.

Don't fall for that crap... the only thing that will fix sagging skin or wrinkles is a face lift or some type of surgery. All the claims are just BS. !!!

    post-op question

things i used the most: percocet - i was in a lot of pain on my port side, could have been from my hernia repair. crystal light. this helped encourage my sipping. i love the peach tea flavor. heating pad - this helped SO much with the discomfort and helped ease some of the pain. gas-x chewables. this was not because of the surgical gas, bc i didnt have any discomfort from that, when i started drinking the creamy soups, i had a lot of gas, so that helped every night. because i wasnt giving up my one salty meal cream of chicken Soup and golden mushroom soup. unjury chicken flavored Protein. protizyme Peanut Butter cookie protein. - these were what my meals consisted of for the first 7 days. comfy corner in my couch. i had a nice little 'nest' in the corner of my sectional couch. I had my heating pad, a window ledge for my drinks, a couple blankets, and some extra pillows. this is where i spent most of my time the first couple of days. a good series on netflix. DONT OVER DO IT. let yourself be lazy. this was the hardest for me. my sister came to visit and i had a hard time constantly asking for something, she was such a good sport tho. we watched lost and american horror story. breaking bad.. scandal.. greys anatomy.. not something you have too much interest in though, because i found myself dozing in and out a lot.
