    Opinions in Genepro protein powder?

I love Genepro! My nut said it was ok. I use it along with another vanilla protein and skim milk and a little ice with some sugar free banana pudding and make a shake in the morning. With all of that it tastes great. And it has 59 grams of protein. It is great. Genepro can be added easily to anything, it's only about a tablespoon for 30 grams of protein instead of those huge scoops. It's been great! The other protein mix which is vanilla is unjury.

    Opinions in Genepro protein powder?

I use it. I mix it with my coffee. I love the fact it dissolves easily and has very little taste. I'm going to get some celery, carrots and apples and use my Vitamix high speed blender to start juicing. I can add the GENEPRO and get Protein in the mix. I find it too hard to get my vegetables and fruit in since I eat protein first. I use the Genepro to get to my daily requirement of protein. I order it on Amazon. Blessings, Kathleen

Able to eat more than expected...

Do you eat eggs? I used to take 3 parts egg beaters, 1 part fairlife milk and 1 part cheese to make a soft scrambled egg. I also make my own Protein shakes using fairlife chocolate milk and GENEPRO. I blend it in my ninja with ice for a shake. It has a good chocolate flavor and covers up the genepro. I also add a tbs of PB2 for a change. Oikios triple zero is a decent high protein Greek yogurt if you can handle Greek. HW 385 SW 359 CW 305 Sleeved 10/5/16

    When does appetite return?

Ive tried a lot of Protein shakes, they are hard to drink. Ive been using GENEPRO and just putting it in my Water. I should be doing puree, but Soups are a lot more gentle on my stomach and im afraid to push it. Im hoping a little bit of hunger will return so i dont have to set alarms to eat lol Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App
  5. Didjit, Be careful buying ahead too much. Most of WLS peeps have their taste change after their Surgery. Agreed. I am one week post-op tomorrow and I am so sick of sweet I could puke. And I DID used to love sweets. I am going out for GENEPRO and Fair Life milk tomorrow. I can't wait to eat eggs, meat, cheese, nuts......oh my it is driving me batty!!

    Getting fluids down after surgery

GENEPRO Protein powder saved my life! It is absolutely tasteless, textureless, and can be added to anything, hot or cold. I put it in everything! Soup, Water, gatorade, you name it. It lets you eat/drink whatever you can tolerate, but you get 23g of protein in every scoop. $34 on Amazon. Get you some.

    Coffee?

My Surgeon and my Nutritionist either one said anything about giving up my coffee. I would have been one to commit HAIRY SCARY!!! I love my coffee. I have my Espresso with GENEPRO unflavored Protein every day. It has 30grams of protein so for me it is a WIN WIN because I would drink my Espresso any way. I would say whatever your Dr.'s guidelines are follow them. You could ask them when and if you can have full blown coffee!!

    What protein shakes are preferred?

I'm with the consensus here, I like the Premier Protein. chocolate is my favorite and I add SF Torani syrup to mix it up. Peppermint, Raspberry, Peanut Butter, Salted caramel. The possibilities are endless. I also use the vanilla in my coffee in the morning. GENEPRO unflavored is good as well. I put it in my Soup when I was on the liquid diet and sometimes when I need to get a little more in for the day add it to juice, smoothies, or flavored Water. I bought several flavors of the Muscle Milk at my health food store and had to toss them all. Yuck!

    Flavorless Protein powder

I like GENEPRO and also Syntrax unflavored. I don't find that they change the flavor for most things, but I'm very sensitive to texture and it does change that IMHO.

    Unflavored protein powder

I was asking about GENEPRO on here. Is there any taste? Does it mix well? I have a few varieties of Syntrax powders and they just don't seem to get smooth, no matter what temp I use. Right now I am using premier Protein ready to drink shakes. I don't do so well with protein and need/want something that completely disappears(or as much as possible). Thanks! There is a small taste as nothing is truly tasteless but it can be hidden. It mixes very well under 140 degrees.

    Pocket Protein

I am currently on my fifth bag of GENEPRO. I had my bloodwork in October and I am right on target. After my surgery I got where I could not drink any other Protein drinks. They were just too chalky and I would gag on them. I tried several kinds.....ISOPURE left a terrible metal taste in my mouth..... whey shots were just horrible....could not stand Premier....etc. This is been the best for me! It might not be for everyone, but it is for me. I make a big tumbler (Bubba Jug) every morning with Crystal Light and keep it on my desk and sip on it. After lunch I usually make another big tumbler full. I get my protein in and my Water at the same time. If I put it in my coffee....I mix it with the creamer....zap it in the microwave and then add the coffee....it mixes better and I like my coffee hot. I have mixed it in yogart, pudding, sprinkled on food.....etc.

    Herbalife

I was getting a Herbalife shake in the morning and adding my Protein to it. I thought I was doing good and getting in 60 grams of protein. Then my NUT told me that your body can only absorb 25 grams of protein at one time. I needed to spread my protein out more through the day. I also was on a long stall.....checked the Herbalife (I was getting a Chunky Monkey).....according to My Fitness Pal it had 50 grams of carbs!!!!! I just use GENEPRO to get most of my protein in now.

    Pocket Protein

I looked it up when I saw your question. It looks expensive to me. Check into GENEPRO.....30 grams of Protein in a tablespoon. It is oderless and tasteless. I also mix it in my Crystal Light Lemonade (don't like sweet drinks). You can mix it with hot or cold..... they send you little packets so you can carry it with you.

Truly don't know what to do

Protein pudding and Greek yogurt are so good not sure if you tried them. I also like the genepro couldn't Tate it at all I'd try mixing it in a coffee drink or crystal light. Look on bariatric pantry website for some other yummy drinks not protein shakes then try to add a little of the genepro? U can find proteins that taste better than protein shake I know I have. Good luck to you!

    Protein Shakes

I just ordered some Syntrax nectar in Cookies and cream, and unflavored GENEPRO off amazon. I saw some really awesome reviews on these. Of course I got them to stockpile, as I can't even enroll in the bariatric plan till 1/2/15, but you better believe, I'll be calling at 8am bright and early to get this party started!!

Truly don't know what to do

Thank you to everyone that has replied and offered words of wisdom. I will keep trying. Yogurt of any kind, unfortunately, isn't an option for me. It's probably the only food I've had an aversion to my entire life, and it hasn't changed since surgery. I've tried mixing it into smoothies and dinner recipes...if yogurt is in it, I can taste it and I simply cannot tolerate it. My daughter is the same way when it comes to yogurt. However, I will continue to try getting my Genepro down and trying to eat high protein foods the best that I can. I will trust those of you who have said it's a phase and will pass. Good luck to those of you in the same boat as I am.

    Suggested Protein Powders Please

Genepro & Isopure are very good[emoji5] Sent from my LG-H901 using BariatricPal mobile app
  18. Genepro is my go to. Mixed in thin cold drinks for me doesn't work. I love it in hot tea with milk and sugar. It mixes well in V8 or tomatoes juice. I put it in eggs, oatmeal and yogurt too.
  19. I really like GENEPRO. It has really helped me get my Protein in and dissolves is most things from flavored waters to yogurt. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    first post-- protein question

At 4 days post-op, really focus on getting your Fluid volume in vs Protein grams. You'll be okay for a while with less protein as long as you're getting close to your Water goal. Going forward, I second getting some unflavored Protein powder. There are many brands, I'm a GENEPRO fan but there are other brands that others have had good luck with. Find one, because once you get to pureed/soft foods, that powdered protein will be the key to your success. I put it in cottage cheese, refried Beans, yogurt, pudding...anything soft and moist. I'm over 6 months post-op and I still put a scoop in my coffee every morning. Good luck!
  21. Yes. I have been using Genepro to break a weight loss stall that began about 8-9 weeks post-op and continued through to 11 weeks. I'd still be in it had I not changed what I was doing. I came up with the solution described below to break my stall/slowed down weight loss as I was thinking about the days right after my surgery. My surgeon has her patients on clear liquids for 14, yes, 14 days!!!!! following surgery. No protein, no vitamins.....ONLY CLEAR LIQUIDS and medications for 14 days. I lost a pound or two a day on the regimen. Since my weight loss had drastically slowed, I was significantly behind on the amount of weight I am expected to lose by my next surgeon appointment and decided I would go back to post-surgery basics, but with protein, meds and vitamins added. I began this regimen on Thursday, March 14th, weighing 219lb. Today, I weighed in at 210 pounds. Here is what I do: I take three 16 ounce bottles of water and to them I add 1 scoop Genepro, which is flavorless, 30g protein and only 60 calories. You can drink it plain or flavor it however you,d like, just don't add calories more than 20, perhaps, with whatever you choose. I add sugar free decaffeinated ice tea powder to mine. These three bottles become my "meals" for the day, breakfast, lunch, supper, giving me 90g protein for the day and only 180 calories. In between these "meals" I drink another 16 ounce bottle of water, giving me a total 96 oz water for the day. Additionally, I take all my meds and vitamins as I am supposed to throughout the day. Once I reach 209 pounds I will be at the bare minimum of where my surgeon expects her patients to be at 3 months post-op, which puts me at the 50th percentile. I plan on continuing this regimen for the entire 14 days in order to get as near to 201 by the end on March, early April, which will put me in the 75th percentile, which is a MUCH better place to be. Anything below the 50th percentile is considered to be a weight loss surgery patient failure. This info is taken from a Duke University study conducted to discover early weight loss predictors for success or failure among weight loss surgery patients. I explain this study and provide links in the video I've posted here in my status update on Bariatric Pal. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. :-)

    VSG and a Hernia Repair

@@sh1211 I think if you try the GENEPRO (wee small scoop gives you 30g/serving!!!), you can get it in the smaller package to start, then if you like it, it goes up to a 3lb container.

    Coffee post VSG

I had my first cup 3 weeks out. I have had one cup each morning since and in addition to my coffee I add a little cream and a scoop of GENEPRO unflavored Protein powder to it. Lasts me a couple hours and then I usually am ready for like a hard boiled egg or yogurt by like 9:30-10 am. And have already gotten in 30 g of protein.
