  1. Hey!

I'm not really nervous, anxious is more like it. I am so ready to shed these pounds, I work out like crazy, which does kind of help because I'm building muscle, but I can't wait to have the surgery mostly because I hear the young people slim down pretty fast unlike the older patients. My mom had the surgery done in Nov 2008, she has lost a lot of weight which is why she said if I wanted to get the surgery, I could. I think it will give me that little "push" I need to get back into a healthy lifestyle.

I have to send you another msg bc I am out of characters.

  2. No approval...... fuck BC/BS! :)

I only have to pay $6K, since I have to do other stuff with the band, I'm not getting charged for some of the stuff.

Heck... I've paid a lot more for other stuff, I think I can pay $6K for my health!

    Hey Allison!! Yeah 10th!!!

  3. hey caroline! i lost the link to your blog bc i was getting anew template and everything got lost!

  4. Hey Jeremy! Nice to meet you as well! I didn't see this post until today after you left one on mine. Things are going well, I see the doc tomorrow bc of some "drainage". Sick I know, but I guess there is no modesty or shame here really if we have all been through it. When were you banded? Hows the losing going? I have to get on my Wii Fit for them to yell at me and tell me that I am obese and then praise me for losing weight! It cracks me up. Pretty good work out though. TTYL, Take care, Meredith

  5. Can you by any chance send me the name and information of your doctor that does the fills? and her office in columbia? that would be sooo convenient! I have been calling around, but trying to find the best as far as $ bc I am self pay..

  6. Hey thanks for checking in..it always helps to remember that you are not doing this alone! I think I am at a stall, for the past few weeks I have managed to gain and lose the same 2-3lbs but I cant get it off to stay off! I know it is my fault bc I can come up with a thousand excuses not to exercise but I really need to get back in gear! How are you doing and how much have you lost so far? Sounds like you are doing pretty good maintaining a steady weight loss....its always better than gaining! Good luck

  7. Hi Shasta1

I feel much better now that I have lost over 100 pounds in 1 year. I started looking into weight loss surgery over 10 years ago but my insurance would never cover it. Once I had a BMI over 50 they finally did. I was 5'6" and 375 pounds. I still hired beliteweight.com to get me through all the red tape with bc/bs insurance. There was a lot more of a wait for the gastric bi-pass surgery. I was in a hurry and opted for the gastric lap band. I was chicken for the drastic bi-pass. There was less of a wait for the band. I could always opt for the bi-pass later if the band didn't work. They put me on a liquid protein diet for 3-4 weeks prior to surgery to shrink my liver.

The lap band and gastric bypass has a diet to stick with so it is not easy and dieting free as I thought it would be. I automatically eat smaller portions of what I did eat before. It is a lot like the South Beach one with mostly protein, vegetables, low carbs and no "slider foods".

  8. Hi sweets... you are doing SO GREAT!!! I understand about him not doing your third fill... my dr. didn't do mine either bc I was down 12 lbs since my last visit. I am down as of today 52.2 lbs and feeling great! I FINALLY got to see what 199 looks like it was magnificent even if it is only .2 under... I'll take it. It made me feel like a million dollars! How are you feeling? Are you exercising at all? I am glad to hear you are doing so spectacular and look forward to hearing more! KIT

  9. Yes, I had to stay over night one night which my insurance covered. Went home late the following day around 6:30 pm. Had nothing to eat or drink on Wednesday and they finally fed me on Thursday late afternoon. Had to have an UPPER GI so that is why they couldn't feed me prior. Guess my surgeon wanted to make certain everything looked good and was working well. LOL they tell you not to drink from a straw or gulp but yet the day after surgery I am having an upper gi which is using a straw and gulping! Confused the heck out of me!

  10. Hello, I am also a June bug and read your post about making bad choices and pizza. I honeslty almost hit the floor bc I too am having the same problem with myself and pizza, AHHHHHH. Funny thing is, our weights are almost identical. And yes I do think that 30 pounds in 2 months is great. I need motivation as well, I feel like I am just accepting the slow weight loss. I need a wake up call now. I get so mad at myself too when I slip and eat something bad, that I think go ahead and eat a little more. My spiral needs to stop and I need to work harder. just thought I would share.

  11. Yes, my liquid diet started yesterday. And I too have found that the Adkins are the best. I had a strawberry one for breakfast. I had an EAS just now...not so good. I would hate to actually say that the Adkins are good...but I think I kinda enjoyed it. I also bought the SlimFast Low Carb protein shakes. I put it in a blender last night with some strawberries...BAD IDEA. I dont know what happened....but after about 2 minutes in my cup, it started changing from a liquid to some sort of solid. haha...it was gross! I am exicted to get home and have dinner bc its Chicken broth...YUMMM...weee.....

  12. Hi Lucky! I am feeling so much better! I was banded on friday am & came home friday pm. I had some heart issues in hospital but all fine now. By Sunday I was changing my 2 yo diaper & getting her snacks - thank god for nap time bc otherwise it's tough trying to recoup with her around!! Luckily my dh takes her out often!! how Are you doing?

  13. Hi Everyone

I am new on this site . i had my gastric band put in 2006 in belgium i lost just little less than 2 stone and for months i went on and off with my fills . i was fed of the drama of fills sometimes it would be to tight or sometimes just nothing ,so i never got the right point where i was able to leave my fill. Then i fell pregnant and now had a baby 8 months ago .My fill was removed when i got pregnant ,i have just managed to come back to my pre pregnancy weight ,I have not been in touch with my band or any support ,I feel like i have failed my band . :frown: I look at peopls before after pic and think i am never able to do this .

  14. Hi Allie. Sorry it has taken so long to get back to you. The surgery went well. I was very sore afterwards, but just by the port. I go in for another fill under flouro on the 16th of the month. I am a bit worried bc I was in a car accident about 2 wks after the surgery and I got a big bruise from my seatbelt on my lowe abdomen. So, I hope my port is ok still. How are you doing?

  15. Hey there lady!!! Caught you online! I've been doing some BCBS research and will be talking to my cousin tomorrow who works at BC to see what their "criteria" is before I change my insurance. Either ours at work, Community Blue or hubby's BCBC Blue Preferred Plus PPO. Yay!!! It's finally within my grasp now, just need to keep reaching for it :P How are you? I enjoyed your soapbox rant, and you are totally right to do it!

  16. Yeah I am excited. but i mean do you feel like its the food and excersise or do your really feel like you couldnt have done it with out the band? And how was it for that few weeks after with only liquids-Im really nervous about that. Im kinda in that place like OMG what if I don't lose the weight. or should I not spend the money bc i just need to eat better and excersie......

  17. And with the holidays I've been eating a lot of junk to, chocolate and bread with butter! For some reason I've been CRAVING bread and gobs of butter which is completely GROSS! But my hubby says it's because my body is craving fat bc I'm not eating good enough to keep my energy level up. When I work out I eat a lot better =) But if you need any help don't hesitate to ask questions I'll help you as much as I can!

  18. Hi Cee-I am getting ready to go to a meeting, but I wanted to send you a quick response to your question on my picture. I just posted on my blog yesterday bc some people have asked me lately how my weight loss has been so good...here is a link to my blog Once Upon A Time...In the Land of Cheese and Sunkist

Check out yesterday's post. Then if you want, send me an email at amy.workman@gmail.com and we can compare notes!

  19. Hi there! I got your name from the chat board bc I was asking if anyone was pg? and colleen mentioned you were. I was wondering if we could chat a bit? I am currently 9weeks with baby #2 but this time I am post band. Congrats btw!!!

  20. wow u lost the same as me....I was banded in July and my progress is actually slow bc ill lose and gain...be patient your doing just fine!

  21. I think brandyII is up in forum heaven somewhere looking down and smiling at what you've said, lol! It's not easy being a lone voice out there but even when you're shot down by the "pack" just know there are people out there that read what you say and agree with what's in your heart and never ever post. I know because they will sometimes pm me to let me know that what I've said in the past or brandyII has said that it has affect on them in a positive way and I just want you to know that you have affected me and others in a positive way too! It takes a lot strength sometimes to ignore and not internalize the bs here but I appreciate you and others do too thanks Nancy.

  22. I did have a leak, and was completely NPO (nothing by mouth)for 22 days. I had a pic line in my arm that fed me 1800 calories a day for over 2 weeks. It is emotional, and very mentally/physically draining, but you will heal and recover. Trust your doctors, and once you are back on liquids, stick to the post-op guidelines. Hang in there, it'll get better each day.

  23. Thank you so much, good info. I have not done any pre testing yet bc I wanted to go to Dr. Aceves. I have not had any trouble but the surg here, bc of my age wanted all these tests. I might still have my pcp get me a pul func test? but feel I will get a good eval the day before. I still wake up at night going over concerns, just told my daughter about the sleeve surg and she doesn't know about mex. I am so glad for all your help and everyone's sharing, so important to me.

  24. is kinda fed up with baby using my bladder as a bouncy castle! lol

  25. Hi there!

My name is Nicole and I was doing some searching for BCBS Fed in Texas and I saw a post that you had on VerticalSleeveTalk.com. At the time you were just going thru the process. I was wondering if you ended up getting the procedure done and if you had any problems with BCBS Fed. Thank you for any help you can offer.

    Smiles,

    Nicole
