  1. Everything is going really good. Getting fills every two weeks, really starting to feel real restriction. On the 18th I'll be 4 month post-op and even with the 15lb muscle weight gain I had last month I'm still ahead of the curve when it comes to losing, so I'm doing really well with a weightloss around the 60lb mark, I was closer to 80 but I look better and feel better, scale is up but measurements and dress sizes are down :) no complaints here. Hope October hurries for you! If you have any questions feel free to ask!

  2. Stop it now. Plateaus end - they always do - but don't let this one end with a weight gain. Keep on doing what you know you should and can do. Can you share with me whatever it is that is going on in your life? We are all in this together

  3. Do you think we are going to have a hard time getting approved because of the weight gain? I really would like to know. I know my nuritionist acted like it was no big deal but we will see. I hope to be down 5lbs myself. I joined a gym and all!

  4. Hi there! How are you doing? I went to the doc today, and unfortunately had a weight gain :-( But after discussing everything that has been going on, he concluded I was over-filled. So he took some fluid out. He is hoping this jumpstarts my weight loss again.

As for the smoking, I have fallen off the wagon a couple of times, but I just get right back on. How are you doing with your quitting?

Hope all is well!! Take care, and hope to talk to you soon :-)

  5. Hey!!! I was taking Lexapro for anxiety. It didn't go well with me, and it made me depressed. After I put on the weight I was sure enough depressed. Major weight gain is normally not a significant side effect of Lexapro. They think I may have thyroid problems, too, which can make meds act crazy! I am no longer on Lexapro. I am taking Wellbutrin, and it had been okay. How are you?

  6. Had my 2nd fill and the PA made me feel worse that I do. In the course of a few days I've went from 275 to 280 today. My lady fill weigh in I was 281. So to them I've lost one pound. When I told the broad what I ate and how much i am working out she looked at me like I was lying. She said there is no way one cheat day would cause so much weight gain and even still I should weigh less. Next time I have to bring print outs of what I eat on MFP. So angry!!!! According to ...

  7. Hi Texas,

Good to hear from you. Thanks for the compliment on my page. I did try to match my page to my 'duckiness' haha. Just wanted to let you know my final paperwork will be submitted to surgeon on Monday and then comes my wait for insurance approval. I can't imagine they would refuse me for any reason. I have several weight related health issues and a bmi of 59 [yuk].

I also looked at your page - very nice - and your photos were so good. How much excercise do you do per week? I hope to become more active very soon. I used to walk 4 mi. per day but not since the fibro/weight gain.

    Hang in there ! ;-)

    My Journey

On 23 December 2010, I underwent surgery to lose weight. I had a vertical sleeve gastrectomy (VSG) which is not to be confused with stomach stapling, liposuction or a tummy tuck. In the VSG, 80% of the stomach (the actual organ) is removed leaving one with a 'pouch' about the size of a small banana, around 130 ml or 5 oz in volume. In this album, I document my path through various stages of weight gain and loss to date.

    Before and Afters

I had surgery on August 1, 2008 and it took two years to lose over 100 pounds. I lost a total of 110 pounds and have gained about 30 from the fall of 2011 to present (spring 2012) I am determined to lose at least 20 lbs of my weight gain by summer by keeping up with my fills and watching my diet and being more active.

  11. The vacation was great and lovely and I stayed very active while still getting to sample foods I hadn't yet tried since surgery.  After getting back, I decided to stay off of social media for a little while, which also included these forums.  I had a lot of work in the office to catch up on and needed to focus on that.  Of course, the past week or so I have been struggling a lot mentally and emotionally.  I've desperately wanted comfort food and have done well not giving into that temptation.  This week doesn't feel like it'll go much better, but October always seems to be the worst month for me.

Had an anxiety dream last night involving a substantial weight gain in the past week.  Absolutely no basis in reality since I've stayed on plan.  I think it stems from Saturday when I ate some extra calories due to a 2 hour hike earlier in the day that burned 900 calories.  The extra calories brought my total intake up for 1025, as opposed to 700-800.  And my extra calories were from curry egg salad, so it was a protein packed choice.  And yet, my brain some how decided that would lead me to gain 10 pounds in one week and threw that are me while I slept.  Brains can be jerks.

Glad to hear you are doing ok. I noticed you missing from here and was a bit concerned as it sounded like you were dealing with some stuff.

Great work with staying on plan on vacation! Always a tougher than the routine at home.

      Welcome back!

  12. Hi everyone. Thursday, Friday and Saturday I was walking because I felt so good on Thursday and Friday. However I think I have been doing too much walking and sewing. Last night as I was working on sewing a curtain for my patio which I hope to me able to get out onto in the next coming weeks my back across the shoulder really started to hurt. Today the lower back shoulder pain has moved to the side breast underarm pit area. Is it possible for that pain to move? It makes me wonderful if the lower back shoulder pain I had was gas pain due to the laparoscopic surgery. If it is when does this gas pain truly leave the body? This new location pain hurts as much as the lower shoulder back pain did. Also how is it possible to gain weight when all I have had is protein soups and shakes? Yesterday when I got on the scale I was up 4 pounds. It makes no sense. Does liquid Tylenol with codeine cause weight gain even when you don't eat anything? Sorry for the venting but today is not a good day. I am frustrating that I may be backsliding not progressing.

Thanks but a super hero I don't think so. During the 3 procedure operation I had my gallbladder taken out. This is not incision pain. It is in the right side lower back shoulder pain that moved today to the breast armpit area. I saw my PCP on Thursday when I had the pain for 6 days all ready. He thought when the nurses and Pt lifted me off the toilet they broke a rib. But that was not the case. He gave me liquid Tylenol with codeine and it was helping but when the pain switched to the breast armpit area the meds were not helping any more. The walking I was doing was with the walker but today I couldn't even get out the door. All I did was relax in my recliner, surf the net and watch TV. It is only 10 days post op so I was surprised to see a stall all ready

Don't psych yourself out ssflbelle, you are doing fine and everything is working fine. Just chill out and heal a little bit. Slow but sure is the tortoise. Take the small victories and I agree you should stay off the scale for a while. Gas pains can and do move from one area to another sometimes. I had similar problems years ago when I had an abdominal surgery. The gas working out was the worst part.

Don't be down on yourself !

I was also having a meltdown over my weight gain from surgery so good news day 8 from surgery and finally lost 2 lbs .... geez seems slow but so happy to finally be lower than my weight before the surgery!!! Hope your gas pain subsides soon!

Gotta end the year on Patron......no crime there. It's the biggest party night of the year. You'll recover in grand fashion and laugh about the small scale blip.

@Dub You're absolutely right, no need to feel guilty about the Patron, and I've lost all but 1lb of that regain but I'll think twice about the Doritos next time...them suckers are no joke..total slider food. I could've eaten the whole bag!!!

    JenCoBu's Odyssey

From a 'Butter-pillar' to a 'Catter-fly'! LOL! Under Reconstruction and Improved Management. The weight of my flesh has been a burden for 42 years since the age of 5 and half when my parents & I were transferred from Germany (U.S. Army Brat) to Ft. Lewis, WA the Summer of '75. That's when my pituitary glands jumped the track. Oh I was born 6lbs. 7oz, but in 1976 (by this time we were stationed in Maryland) because my mom was befuddled as to why her little Jenny was busting out all over; esp. in the chest area as well as gaining wt. So at age 6 I was diagnosed by a Captain that was a pediatrician that saw cases like mine overseas. I had PRECOCIOUS PUBERTY. Couldn't stop my inherited DNA either. So you couldn't stop this runaway freight train and the only casualty in this wreck was me. I was a physically active girl, ate about the same as any other kid & later adolescent. But my body wasn't breaking down anything. Frustrated from that along with being bullied and beaten up almost ritualistically, and humiliated by family members, I was suicidal by age 9. Only 2 dear elem. school friends kept me sane... and alive; but they never knew that. Well into teendom, young adulthood, womanhood, i was bulimic, I worked out, I starved. You name it. Desperation makes you do/ try anything. The only thing shrinking was my bank account. Long story short, it wasn't until I was 45 & practically destitute, sickly and agoraphobic after ballooning up even moreso in weight and suffering 2 very bad falls, I qualified for Medicaid/ Care Source Ins. and my first case worked pleaded with Visiting Physicians Assn. to accept me in their care, esp. since I can't drive (no license but have had a Passport since I was 10mos. old). My 1st PCP had mobile x-ray techs, and other specialist come to my apt. In the end I finally learned I not only had HYPOthyroidism, but that it was UNDER developed. My vindication & Redemption. I cried because I knew it had to be something that contributed to the maddening weight gain, the yo-yo'ing. I was never an over eater. So all of my earlier, healthy, traditional weight loss methods for decades failed because of this culprit. Add insult to injury I became type 2 diabetic at 44/45 too. I refused insulin. Telling them I'll do my damnedest to lose what I can and reduce my blood sugar through altering my food consumption & with exercise from a phys. therapist that came to my flat. I was too hvy for my frame to exercise properly, walking was chore, especially with bone loss to boot. And I was, and still am, self conscious being seen by people. Having lived in NYC you'd think I could handle masses of people. But I can't. But I'm learning. Slow & steady. With all my efforts and my necessary "surgical intervention", and those doctors, therapists, nurses & personal assistants and my BFF, I can LIVE & live better and healthier, not merely exist. Also, I no longer have type 2 diabetes, but I still test because I'm 'prone' to it. Better safe than sorry. People don't live long in, what remains of, my family. So I have to live. My nieces/ great and great-great nieces look up to & stay in touch with me always. I need to do right by my standards, give them someone to look up to, and do special things to honor my late husband whom i lost 16 yrs ago in 2003, but I couldn't at that time. I currently started at Planet Fitness & go super early to avoid crowds and will restart my aqua therapy late fall of 2019. Desperately trying to lose more & more weight so I can 1. get a receptionist job outside my apartment to earn a real paycheck and 2, have skin removal surgery w/ breast reduction & lift. Then COOL SCULPTING much later after that. Btw, the gent in the tux w/ me in pink (2010) is an ex bf, NOT my wonderful late husband, Michael. He's the one standing next to me in the dark blue denim 2 pc dress on my niece's deck outside in 2002 immediately after breakky [as you can see by his tummy. It was gone by 1pm that day]. He was the sweetest English muffin I ever met LOL! (he was a Londoner, a published author and my former boss ). And my greatest supporter of my aspirations. So that being said, enjoy my pics. Toodles!

    BEFORE PICS

This is me in the last few years as I went through my weight gain and weight loss roller coaster riding between 280lbs and sky rocketing all the way up to 340 (My highest weight ever)
  17. Darn weight gain. It is messing with my head.

  18. See I could only imagine the pain to be comparable to my c-section w/ my second kid. did you have a c-section w/ yours? It was painful. Not able to stand straight up for awhile. I think about a wk and a half out I was feelin' a lot more normal. I will eventually get one when I'm sure I'm done having kids b/c my kids and weight gain destroyed my lower stomach. So far though I am still holding out hope it MIGHT bounce back! haha!

  19. That's awesome! Congrats on your success. I'm down 56 lbs now. I feel wonderful. We have a lot in common. I had a breast reduction too. Only mine was 6 years ago. They had come back a little with the weight gain but are back to the size they were post-reduction - Thank Goodess! My goal is to loose 25 more lbs and I'm hoping I can do that by my one year anniversary. Wish me luck and much success as you continue your journey! Take Care!

  20. Getting band refilled after 15lbs weight gain... OUCH!

  21. It's probably water retention. When I was obese, the only way I could not retain water is to consume around 90-100 ounces of water per day. 64oz was just enough, but for me to get the kidneys kicking and filtering better, I had to increase the water intake. It was tough, but I managed it.

I would definitely check with you PCP and have some labs pulled to ensure there is not an underlying cause for the weight gain.

I am not sure if this could affect your weight loss.

Best wishes on getting your date.

  22. Tiff-

Did you have any problems with weight gain or difficulty losing or anything like that post GB? I am nervous about this...

I will watch for your post... and I can't thank you enough! You are SO helpful! =)

  23. These are some pics of me in 2000 when I got married and I looked and felt my best. I had lost 60 pounds doing Atkins to lose the weight.
  24. Greetings sleeve sisters! I am back on track from the cruise weight gain, and I lost 5lbs this week. I am at 185.4 (whoot, whoot) only 15-20lbs from goal. Let's be thankful and greatful for these beautiful bodies that carry the real us...wich is our spirit's. Light & Love to all on this journey and it is a JOURNEY not a DESTINATION!
