Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

Hey Janet, are there not email's attached to the posts of the MIA's? Anyone ever thought of emailing these guys? I remember Lynnette well and really wander what happened to her.... Steph hon, this is just the nurse in me with some major concern about your fall and continued pain, esp. when you talk about pain in your neck. Don't mean to scare you but there are certain types of vertebral (spine bone) fractures of the neck that cause just a minor amt of pain but can even be fatal with just one wrong move. I have seen it happen. If I were you, I believe I would rather be safe than sorry and go have that neck and head x-rayed. And if your doc seems to be blowing you off, go to the ER. Like I have said, it is hard to even make any recommendations over this computer medium but I am concerned and don't usually mess with a fall that involves the head and neck. Better safe than sorry, dear. I like your attitude, girl :Dancing_wub::thumbup: I may just have to borrow some of that spunk the next time I get a hankering to put a pool in. :Dancing_wub: Ok, I had an interesting, (would you call it a NSV?), today. I was driving home from work today when I remembered that I had not eaten lunch and I didn't even realize it, and I was not really hungry either. First time I have ever missed lunch and did not know it. I think I will consider that a step in the right direction, mentally. What do you all think? :cool2: Of course, the missed lunch could be contributed to some major stress today. And not just at work. My DH called me at work to inform me that he was just laid off from work.  I knew there was a chance of downsizing but was not totally expecting this. And money is tight enough as it is.... Ok, deep breath...:hurt:

Shrinkin' Violets- Part 2 Read Here

Laura! I loved the pictures! Congrats on ALL your NSV's! There's plenty more to come, too!! But crossing your legs is a HUGE one! You look sooooo cute in all of your pictures and the snow is so pretty. Kat - What's the difference between a pannectomy and a TT? I thought they were the same thing! Sorry you're sick....yuck. Take care, ok? Tracy - I'm curious, why did your doc give you prednisone? For your ear infection? That's kind of odd, I think. Hmmm. (I used to be a nursing student, can you tell? LOL) TracyK - hope you and DH are havin' a great time! Judy - Where are you going for your cruise? Somewhere WARM I hope! Suzie - thanks for the words of encouragement...and you're so right. When this is all over I will feel better knowing I did all I could for her, even if right now it just doesn't seem like enough. My sister stayed with her today and I went by for lunch...but tonight I'm at home with my kiddos and all is right with the world...well, at least on our block. I have been living on cottage cheese and oatmeal all week. The stress along with a new fill have made all else just about impossible to eat. I did manage to get a cheese enchilada down my pie hole tonight. It was delish. The (slim) lady at the table next to me polished off three of them, along with rice, beans and chips! Did we used to eat that much??? I am totally exhausted tonight. I can't wait to go to bed!! zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

    Banded Bikers II

That tunafish could taste so unbelievably good and that I could get full on half a cup of it!!!!!!!!! I broke the rules by 12 hours and had my first food (mushy) tonight. My tastebuds were dancing!!!!!!!!!!! You would have thought I was eating steak! I did take my time and ate as slowly as I could for being famished LOL. I chewed chewed and chewed until it was completely pulverized, and then I would wait periodically to see how I felt before proceeding. I stopped at about a half a cup and I probably could have had more but I didn't want to push it especially my first meal. Tomorrow morning before we go on our charity ride I will have an egg, two if I can get it down. Again, I don't want to push it, especially right before going on a ride. I also had an NSV! We went by Open Road Leathers to look for some new chaps for me as my old ones (the ones I bought in November!) were getting way loose on me, especially around the legs. Now, you have to know that they don't size chaps like regular clothes. Don't know why but they run WAY small. So the chaps I got in November were 6X (ugh) despite the fact that I was actually 2X at the time. Well, today I got into 4X chaps!!! Two whole sizes! I purposely got them nice and tight so that I would be able to wear them for a while before having to get another pair when I lose more weight. I normally wouldn't even bother getting something like this until I have lost all my weight but I wear my chaps even during the summer as it keeps the engine heat from burning my legs. Oh! I took off the steri strips on the three small incisions today. They were starting to come off anyway and they were annoying me. One of them probably wasn't quite ready to come off but I just put Neosporin on it and covered it with a bandaid. It will be fine in a couple of days. The other two, my port and the big blob of cotton in my belly button are under waterproof tape and okay like they are. Dr. Cywes wanted them to stay on for two weeks. I'll see what those look like then. I did a lot of running around today, brushed down the pool, washed my motorcycle, did a load of laundry, emptied the dishwasher, pulled some weeds and stuff. So I am definitely feeling back to my normal self with the exception of some isolated and periodic soreness in the muscles where my port is. I'm very excited about eating real food again. I can't even begin to explain! I feel like my journey has really begun today. I am starting to eat like a bandster and lead the bandster way of life!

    Who's benig banded on 11/20???

Hi Friends, Sorry I've not been around much lately. I've been swammped with Girl Scout Cookie Sales & other Kid Stuff. The Cookies have not YET been delivered, so there's been no temptation from them (but they get here on 2/20 - I AM NOT STORING THEM AT MY HOUSE). I also have my kids trained to hide 'naughty' food and not keep it in the pantry. My goal is to not eat a single GS Cookie until I'm at my 1/2 way goal. Well, I'm down 28 lbs so far (72lbs left to go). I was really getting hungry again and went in for my 4th fill. I'm at 5cc's in the APS 10cc band. Ate some chicken from the top of a salad & I'm full! I hope this lasts a bit longer. But, as my fellow Potter Fan (Bandpal) says: "but we are putting in the work, going for our fills, learning how to eat all over again through trial and error and maybe even seeing some NSV's or a little movement on the scale." And that's what counts. This is going to be a long process and we just need to hang in there & find what works for us. Bandpal - I'm glad you're finding ways to make it work in your personal environment. 37 lbs down is TERRIFIC! You're finally out of that MORBIDLY OBESE catagory. Doesn't it feel great to be on the road to health? I love your quote from Joshua. I think I may just put that quote on the fridge as a reminder! And just think - You are a terrific Seeker, so therefore that Golden Snitch will not elude you for long, my friend! Just keep an eye out for a Bludger, ok? Ovahkummer - Hang in there. Keep that scale hidden for the time being. Just continue to eat well & throw in some walking when you can. I had my first fill 4 weeks after surgery. If you're hungry, get it filled - that's what it's there for! Towens - Wow 7.5cc's! I bet you're getting some terrific restriction. How much have you lost so far? How much are you able to eat at a sitting? Skinny Jill - Sorry about the Superbowl. Well, 18 out of 19 ain't bad! You are doing sooo well on your weight loss! I't terrific your down 35 lbs! I'm so glad you're doing well! Longhorn - OMGosh - You've got only 34 left till goal? Wow - that's inspiring. Well, I'm off to walk on that dreaded treadmill (can't wait for it to get warm enough here in Ohio to walk outside for a change). Love to you all & keep me posted on how you're doing!

    Huge financial NSV

So, I started my journey as a self-pay. Horizon denied me, saying I did not have five years of written proof I've been obese. This was true, as I did what I call a typical "man-move" and hadn't been to the doctor in about ten years, other than for "emergency" type issues, and since I had a PPO, I did not have a regular physician. Anyway, I stayed stubborn and submitted to the insurance company anyway. Slowly they paid some things, and then last week they sent a check for the hospital, which was a nice $13k check!! So I've gone from a 100% self-pay for a $22k procedure to about $1.5k out-of-pocket. Sometimes it pays not to take no for an answer and be persistent. I'm not saying this will happen for everyone, but there is hope.

    Early NSV!!

hey guys, i'm one of those goobers who weighs daily....and i can get a little stuck on it but here's my NSV 2 years ago i bought this luscious rose and ivory silk jacket (on sale!) and never had the right thing to go with it or outgrew it......Yesterday I pulled it out from the back of the closet, and miracle of miracles the dang thing fit and was a little roomy!!!!!!! I was elated...talk about motivating today i've gotten my Water in on schedule (the postop swelling is down now) and today 1 week out from my 2nd surgery (revision) i was able to walk at lunch almost my usual pre op distance let's go girls amanda
  11. Here's some pics. First, the NSV!!!! Legs crossed COMFORTABLY on the plane.. and I got lots of legs. And the seatbelt is no where near tight. HOORAH. This was me BEFORE I had to bundle up. And then these are taken in Central Park.. And I'm not sure where we were for this one.. The coat is an NSV too. Last time I bought from Burlington Coat Factory (about 6 years ago with parents), they had the patchwork suede coats, and I remember crying because the only thing in my size were ladies coats.. boring black trenches, etc. The day before the trip we went to BCF to find a warm coat. I was looking in plus size. I am 2x in coats I guess, I saw ONE cute coat in 3x.. and ONE cute coat in 1x. The 3x was just way too big. There was nothing in 2x that was trendy at all. I was really getting frustrated. So I decided to try the 1x coat. And Voila. there it is! I'm wearin a 1x coat!!

I'm wearing green pants in honor of this challenge today....BRIGHT green actually lol Just got back from the gym, and am about to clean a bit before heading off to get my bridesmaid dress for my sister's wedding next weekend! A nice NSV there...they ordered me a size 28, only needing to take off at least 8 inches  Woot! Hopefully it fits...if not she'll have to take more off before next weekend! Eep! Go green!!!

    Early NSV!!

Amy, I love the name change! And congratz on your NSV! I'll have to keep that term in mind, it's new to me, I'll start looking for my own "NSV's". Now, I know there's a ton more benefits to weight loss than seeing the scale move, but I just love putting the title on it! Then I can stop and enjoy my NSV moments, like you just did :crying: I think today I had something of an "NSV" . . . it wasn't lower weight, but it was diet related. I went and got my hair cut, and all over the salon were open boxes of Girl Scout Cookies, and chocolate kisses. Now, I was a (maybe still am?) "choco-holic", but when I was offered a cookie or a chocolate kiss, I felt **happy** to politely decline! I really didn't miss it, even under my nose like that! Ok, yes, I'm proud of myself here, lol. And more than a little surprised . . . I was worried about today, I thought I'd be drooling for any chocolate. But I'm ok with my diet . . . it's almost like, we made friends! lol  Sorry, I didn't mean to hi-jack your NSV moment with my own story, Amy! I'm so glad you share. This gives me something more to look for. Congratz again!

    Early NSV!!

Ok, so I know I'm only 9 days post-op, but the NSV's (non-scale victories) are already happening. Other than my clothes starting to get way too big, I had a moment tonight that made me smile. We have a two car garage and when both our our cars are in there it's a TIGHT fit. I always try so hard to park as close to the wall as possible but it nevers seems to be enough. I open the door and I have to SQEEEEZZZEEE myself out of the car contorting my body, holding my breath and dropping "f-bombs" because it's so tight and I barely make it out of the car. Don't get me started on trying to schlep my purse and other crap with me!! Well, tonight I pulled into the garage opened the door and prepared for the usual debacle. I put my legs out and went to push myself out and whadya know.......I wasn't squeezing like I was in a clown car!! I didn't have to suck in my breath, get my clothes all dirty from leaning on the other car, just like normal scooted myself with no problem!! This little episode inspired me to change my screename from "Bigmarathoner" to "marathinner"...ha...ha get it? Anyway, hope you don't mind me sharing and I look forward to all of us sharing the MANY victories to come!! Party on, Valentine's....party on!! Amy
  19. Jenn - good for you! TracyK - I loved the picture of you and your daughter. You look amazing. Congrat's on your NSV's as well! Michelle - what a wonderful Mom you are -- and you are beautiful in the pictures. Kat & TracyinKS - get well -get well - we want you t get well soon! (that is the song my DH sings to me) - wishing you a quick recovery.
  20. Tracy... Happy Anniversary!!! And congrats on all the NSV's! You deserve them, for sure!! Enjoy your weekend. And never you mind about the hot tub. What goes on in the hot tub, stays in the hot tub.
  21. So, make that 3 of us that did not understand what Jenn said... Love the pics Michelle & Pam! Judy...what about that hot tub? Frank and I had a nice lunch at a a really good mexican food place. I could not eat much (thank goodness). Today is our five year anniversary. Wow, time flies!! Around noon I started getting a headache and I took 2 tylenol and it has not gone away. The past couple of days I have had great NSVs. Yesterday when I dropped dd off at daycare one of the teachers said I look fantastic. I get to work and my BOSS said "My GOD you are getting skinny". Then I go to get my hair done and when my hairdresser brought me to the shampoo bowl she pops her hands on her hips and says "OK, me and the other ladies want to know how in the world you are losing so much weight!" I told her my lapband story. Makes me feel so great! Tomorrow we are leaving for the weekend. I will check back in the morning before we leave.

  23. The pics are awesome, Michelle!!! And patooie on the arms on the first pic... check out the curves!!!! You got a waist, woman!!!:cursing: And notice that your daughter can get her arm around you, but not around Eore.. Now that's a NSV if I ever saw one. Big smiles in every picture. Love it! Thanks for sharing. And glad to have you back. I've kicked up the exercise and good eating habits too. Only 92 days til the Bandiversary Bash.. woooo hooooooo!
  24. Ugh... those arms in the first pic give me the heebie-jeebies!! Yikes!! Needless to say... it's back on plan today!! + next week I'm kicking up the exercise to 1x/day!!! I've GOT to get back in the groove!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Altho I will say... it was wonderful to fly... I fit while walking down the aisle... + had too much seat belt!!! + I rode every ride w/out fearing that I wouldn't fit or would have a heart attack for being out of shape... It really was just a trip of NSVs & I have the band & all of you to thank for it! Now it's time to whip this butt into shape & FINISH what I started!!! I want to be at least -100 for the May trip!!!
